¹⁸ Then come to him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying,

¹ And as they were speaking to the people, the priests, and the captain of the temple, and the Sadducees came upon them, ² Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached through Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

⁶ But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men, brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of a Pharisee: concerning the hope and resurrection of the dead I am called in question. ⁷ And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was divided. ⁸ For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit: but the Pharisees confess both. ⁹ And there arose a great cry: and the scribes that were of the Pharisees' part arose, and contended, saying, We find no evil in this man: but if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him, let us not fight against God.

¹³ But if there is no resurrection of the dead, then is Christ not raised. ¹⁴ And if Christ is not raised, then is our preaching vain, and your faith is also vain. ¹⁵ And indeed we are found false witnesses of God; because we have testified concerning God that he raised up Christ: whom he raised not, if in truth the dead rise not. ¹⁶ For if the dead rise not, then is not Christ raised: ¹⁷ And if Christ is not raised, your faith is vain; ye are yet in your sins. ¹⁸ Then they also who have fallen asleep in Christ have perished.
