¹⁵ And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed: it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel.

¹² And it will come to pass, as soon as I have gone from thee, that the Spirit of the LORD will carry thee whither I know not; and so when I come and tell Ahab, and he cannot find thee, he will slay me: but I thy servant fear the LORD from my youth.

¹⁶ And they said to him, Behold now, there are with thy servants fifty strong men; let them go, we pray thee, and seek thy master: lest perhaps the Spirit of the LORD hath taken him up, and cast him upon some mountain, or into some valley. And he said, Ye shall not send.

¹² Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place.

¹⁴ So the spirit lifted me up, and took me away, and I went in bitterness, in the heat of my spirit; but the hand of the LORD was strong upon me.

³ And he put forth the form of a hand, and took me by a lock of my head; and the spirit lifted me up between the earth and the heaven, and brought me in the visions of God to Jerusalem, to the door of the inner gate that looketh towards the north; where was the seat of the image of jealousy, which provoketh to jealousy.

¹ Moreover the spirit lifted me up, and brought me to the east-gate of the LORD'S house, which looketh eastward: and behold, at the door of the gate five and twenty men; among whom I saw Jaazaniah the son of Azur, and Pelatiah the son of Benaiah, princes of the people.

²⁴ Afterwards the spirit took me up, and brought me in vision by the Spirit of God into Chaldea, to them of the captivity. So the vision that I had seen went up from me.

² In the visions of God he brought me into the land of Israel, and set me upon a very high mountain, by which was as the frame of a city on the south.

⁵ So the spirit took me up, and brought me into the inner court; and behold, the glory of the LORD filled the house.

¹² And immediately the spirit driveth him into the wilderness. ¹³ And he was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan: and was with the wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him. ¹⁴ Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God, ¹⁵ And saying, The time is fulfilled, and the kingdom of God is at hand: repent ye, and believe the gospel.

¹ And Jesus being full of the Holy Spirit, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, ² Being forty days tempted by the devil. And in those days he ate nothing; and when they were ended, he was afterward hungry. ³ And the devil said to him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. ⁴ And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, That man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. ⁵ And the devil taking him up upon a high mountain, showed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. ⁶ And the devil said to him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered to me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it. ⁷ If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. ⁸ And Jesus answered and said to him, Get thee behind me, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. ⁹ And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, If thou art the son of God, cast thyself down from hence. ¹⁰ For it is written, He will give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: ¹¹ And in their hands they will bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. ¹² And Jesus answering, said to him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God. ¹³ And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

³⁰ Hereafter I will not talk much with you: for the prince of this world cometh, and hath nothing in me.

³⁹ And when they had come up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord caught away Philip, that the eunuch saw him no more: and he went on his way rejoicing.

¹⁴ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

¹⁸ For in that he himself hath suffered, being tempted, he is able to succor them that are tempted.

¹⁵ For we have not a high priest who cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but who was in all points tempted as we are, yet without sin. ¹⁶ Let us therefore come boldly to the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need.

¹⁸ And Moses went into the midst of the cloud, and ascended the mount: and Moses was on the mount forty days and forty nights.

²⁸ And he was there with the LORD forty days and forty nights; he neither ate bread nor drank water: and he wrote upon the tables the words of the covenant, the ten commandments.

⁹ When I ascended the mount, to receive the tables of stone, even the tables of the covenant which the LORD made with you, then I abode in the mount forty days and forty nights, I neither ate bread, nor drank water:

¹⁸ And I fell down before the LORD, as at the first, forty days and forty nights: I neither ate bread, nor drank water, because of all your sins which ye sinned, in doing wickedly in the sight of the LORD, to provoke him to anger.

²⁵ Thus I fell down before the LORD forty days and forty nights, as I fell down at the first; because the LORD had said he would destroy you.

¹⁸ I will raise up to them a prophet from among their brethren, like thee, and will put my words in his mouth; and he shall speak to them all that I shall command him.

⁸ And he arose, and ate and drank, and went in the strength of that food forty days and forty nights to Horeb the mount of God.

¹⁸ Now in the morning as he was returning into the city, he was hungry.

¹² And on the morrow, when they had come from Bethany, he was hungry,

² Being forty days tempted by the devil. And in those days he ate nothing; and when they were ended, he was afterward hungry.

⁶ Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.

¹⁴ Since then the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil; ¹⁵ And deliver them, who, through fear of death, were all their life-time subject to bondage. ¹⁶ For verily he took not on him the nature of angels; but he took on him the seed of Abraham. ¹⁷ Wherefore in all things it behooved him to be made like his brethren; that he might be a merciful and faithful High Priest in things pertaining to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people.

¹ Now the serpent was more subtil than any beast of the field which the LORD God had made: and he said to the woman, Yea, hath God said, Ye shall not eat of every tree of the garden? ² And the woman said to the serpent, We may eat of the fruit of the trees of the garden: ³ But of the fruit of the tree which is in the midst of the garden, God hath said, Ye shall not eat of it, neither shall ye touch it, lest ye die. ⁴ And the serpent said to the woman, Ye shall not surely die: ⁵ For God doth know, that in the day ye eat of it, then your eyes shall be opened: and ye shall be as gods, knowing good and evil.

²⁹ And Jacob boiled pottage: and Esau came from the field, and he was faint. ³⁰ And Esau said to Jacob, Feed me, I pray thee, with that same red pottage; for I am faint: therefore was his name called Edom. ³¹ And Jacob said, Sell to me this day thy birth-right. ³² And Esau said, Behold, I am at the point to die: and what profit shall this birth-right bring to me? ³³ And Jacob said, Swear to me this day; and he swore to him: and he sold his birth-right to Jacob. ³⁴ Then Jacob gave Esau bread and pottage of lentiles; and he ate and drank, and rose and went his way: thus Esau despised his birth-right.

³ And the children of Israel said to them, O that we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the flesh-pots, and when we did eat bread to the full: for ye have brought us forth into this wilderness, to kill this whole assembly with hunger.

⁴ And the mixed multitude that was among them fell to lusting: and the children of Israel also wept again, and said, Who shall give us flesh to eat? ⁵ We remember the fish which we ate in Egypt freely: the cucumbers, and the melons, and the leeks, and the onions, and the garlic: ⁶ But now our soul is dried away; there is nothing at all, besides this manna, before our eyes.

⁹ Then Satan answered the LORD, and said, Doth Job fear God for naught? ¹⁰ Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land. ¹¹ But put forth thy hand now, and touch all that he hath, and he will curse thee to thy face. ¹² And the LORD said to Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thy hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

⁴ And Satan answered the LORD, and said, Skin for skin, even, all that a man hath will he give for his life. ⁵ But put forth thy hand now, and touch his bone and his flesh, and he will curse thee to thy face. ⁶ And the LORD said to Satan, Behold, he is in thy hand; but save his life. ⁷ So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD, and smote Job with sore boils from the sole of his foot to his crown.

¹⁷ And they sinned yet more against him by provoking the Most High in the wilderness. ¹⁸ And they tempted God in their heart by asking food for their desire. ¹⁹ Yes, they spoke against God; they said, Can God furnish a table in the wilderness? ²⁰ Behold, he smote the rock, that the waters gushed out, and the streams overflowed; can he give bread also? can he provide flesh for his people?

¹⁷ And lo, a voice from heaven, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

³³ Then they that were in the boat came and worshiped him, saying, In truth thou art the son of God.

³ And the devil said to him, If thou art the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread.

⁹ And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, If thou art the son of God, cast thyself down from hence.

³¹ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold, Satan hath desired to have you, that he may sift you as wheat: ³² But I have prayed for thee, that thy faith fail not; and when thou art converted, strengthen thy brethren.

²⁰ And immediately he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

⁵ For this cause, when I could no longer forbear, I sent to know your faith, lest by some means the tempter may have tempted you, and our labor be in vain.

¹⁶ Lest there be any fornicator, or profane person, as Esau, who for one morsel of food sold his birth-right.

¹⁰ Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer. Behold, the devil will cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days. Be thou faithful to death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the Devil, and Satan, which deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out upon the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰ And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast down, who accused them before our God day and night. ¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives to the death.

⁸ And Moses said, This shall be when the LORD shall give you in the evening flesh to eat, and in the morning bread to the full; for that the LORD heareth your murmurings which ye murmur against him: And what are we? your murmurings are not against us, but against the LORD.

¹⁵ And when the children of Israel saw it, they said one to another, It is manna: for they knew not what it was. And Moses said to them, This is the bread which the LORD hath given you to eat.

³⁵ And the children of Israel ate manna forty years, until they came to a land inhabited: they ate manna, until they came to the borders of the land of Canaan.

¹⁵ Thou shalt keep the feast of unleavened bread: (thou shalt eat unleavened bread seven days, as I commanded thee, in the time appointed of the month Abib; for in it thou camest out from Egypt: and none shall appear before me empty:)

³ And he humbled thee, and suffered thee to hunger, and fed thee with manna, which thou knewest not, neither did thy fathers know; that he might make thee know that man doth not live by bread only, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of the LORD doth man live.

¹² And she said, As the LORD thy God liveth, I have not a cake, but a handful of meal in a barrel, and a little oil in a cruse: and behold, I am gathering two sticks, that I may go in and dress it for me and my son, that we may eat it, and die. ¹³ And Elijah said to her, Fear not; go and do as thou hast said: but make me of it a little cake first, and bring it to me, and afterward make for thee and for thy son. ¹⁴ For thus saith the LORD God of Israel, The barrel of meal shall not waste, neither shall the cruse of oil fail, until the day that the LORD sendeth rain upon the earth. ¹⁵ And she went and did according to the saying of Elijah: and she, and he, and her house, did eat many days. ¹⁶ And the barrel of meal wasted not, neither did the cruse of oil fail, according to the word of the LORD, which he spoke by Elijah.

⁴² And there came a man from Baal-shalisha, and brought the man of God bread of the first fruits, twenty loaves of barley, and full ears of corn in its husk. And he said, Give to the people, that they may eat. ⁴³ And his servitor said, What, should I set this before a hundred men? He said again, Give the people, that they may eat: for thus saith the LORD, They shall eat, and shall leave of it. ⁴⁴ So he set it before them, and they ate, and left of it, according to the word of the LORD.

¹ Then Elisha said, Hear ye the word of the LORD; Thus saith the LORD, To-morrow about this time shall a measure of fine flour be sold for a shekel, and two measures of barley for a shekel, in the gate of Samaria. ² Then a lord on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God, and said, Behold, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, might this thing be? And he said, Behold, thou shalt see it with thy eyes, but shalt not eat of it.

⁹ Ye are cursed with a curse: for ye have robbed me, even this whole nation. ¹⁰ Bring ye all the tithes into the store-house, that there may be food in my house, and prove me now with this, saith the LORD of hosts, if I will not open you the windows of heaven, and pour you out a blessing, that there shall not be room enough to receive it. ¹¹ And I will rebuke the devourer for your sakes, and he shall not destroy the fruits of your ground; neither shall your vine cast her fruit before the time in the field, saith the LORD of hosts.

⁷ Jesus said to him, It is written again, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

¹⁰ Then saith Jesus to him, Be gone, Satan: for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve.

⁴ And his disciples answered him, From whence can a man satisfy these men with bread here in the wilderness? ⁵ And he asked them, How many loaves have ye? And they said, Seven. ⁶ And he commanded the people to sit down on the ground: and he took the seven loaves, and gave thanks, and broke, and gave to his disciples to set before them; and they set them before the people. ⁷ And they had a few small fishes: and he blessed, and commanded to set them also before them. ⁸ So they ate, and were satisfied: and they took up of the fragments that were left, seven baskets. ⁹ And they that had eaten were about four thousand: and he dismissed them.

⁵ When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come to him, he saith to Philip, Whence shall we buy bread that these may eat? ⁶ (And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.) ⁷ Philip answered him, Two hundred penny-worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them make take a little: ⁸ One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith to him, ⁹ There is a lad here, who hath five barley-loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many? ¹⁰ And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. (Now there was much grass in the place.) So the men sat down in number about five thousand. ¹¹ And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes, as much as they would. ¹² When they were satisfied, he said to his disciples, Gather the fragments that remain, that nothing may be lost. ¹³ Therefore they gathered them, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley-loaves, which remained over and above to them that had eaten. ¹⁴ Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus performed, said, This is truly that prophet that should come into the world. ¹⁵ When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again to a mountain himself alone.

³¹ Our fathers ate manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat. ³² Then Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven. ³³ For the bread of God is he who cometh down from heaven, and giveth life to the world. ³⁴ Then said they to him, Lord, evermore give us this bread. ³⁵ And Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me, shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me, shall never thirst. ³⁶ But I said to you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not. ³⁷ All that the Father giveth me, shall come to me; and him that cometh to me, I will in no wise reject. ³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of him that sent me. ³⁹ And this is the Father's will who hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day. ⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴¹ The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven. ⁴² And they said, Is not this Jesus the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven? ⁴³ Jesus therefore answered and said to them, Murmur not among yourselves. ⁴⁴ No man can come to me, except the Father who hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught from God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned from the Father, cometh to me. ⁴⁶ Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he who is from God, he hath seen the Father. ⁴⁷ Verily, verily, I say to you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life. ⁴⁸ I am that bread of life. ⁴⁹ Your fathers ate manna in the wilderness, and are dead. ⁵⁰ This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat of it, and not die. ⁵¹ I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man shall eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world. ⁵² The Jews therefore contended among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat? ⁵³ Then Jesus said to them, Verily, verily, I say to you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you. ⁵⁴ Whoever eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day. ⁵⁵ For my flesh is food indeed, and my blood is drink indeed. ⁵⁶ He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me. ⁵⁸ This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers ate manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever. ⁵⁹ These things he said in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

⁶³ It is the spirit that reviveth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak to you, they are spirit, and they are life.

⁴ For whatever things were written formerly, were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

¹⁷ And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God:

⁴ And the porch that was in the front of the house, the length of it was according to the breadth of the house, twenty cubits, and the hight was a hundred and twenty: and he overlaid it within with pure gold.

¹ And the rulers of the people dwelt at Jerusalem: the rest of the people also cast lots, to bring one of ten to dwell in Jerusalem the holy city, and nine parts to dwell in other cities.

¹⁸ All the Levites in the holy city were two hundred and eighty four.

² For they call themselves of the holy city, and stay themselves upon the God of Israel; The LORD of hosts is his name.

¹ Awake, awake, put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city: for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

¹⁶ O Lord, according to all thy righteousness, I beseech thee, let thy anger and thy fury be turned away from thy city Jerusalem, thy holy mountain: because for our sins and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and thy people have become a reproach to all that are about us.

²⁴ Seventy weeks are determined upon thy people and upon thy holy city to finish the transgression, and to make an end of sins, and to make reconciliation for iniquity, and to bring in everlasting righteousness, and to seal up the vision and prophecy, and to anoint the most Holy.

⁵³ And came out of the graves after his resurrection, and went into the holy city, and appeared to many.

¹¹ Jesus answered, Thou couldst have no power against me; except it were given thee from above: therefore he that delivered me to thee hath the greater sin.

² But the court which is without the temple, leave out, and measure it not; for it is given to the Gentiles: and the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months.

¹⁰ Hast not thou made a hedge about him, and about his house, and about all that he hath on every side? thou hast blessed the work of his hands, and his substance is increased in the land.

²³ For thou shalt be in league with the stones of the field: and the beasts of the field shall be at peace with thee.

⁷ (34:6)This poor man cried, and the LORD heard him, and saved him out of all his troubles.

²⁰ (34:19)Many are the afflictions of the righteous: but the LORD delivereth him out of them all.

¹¹ For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways. ¹² They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.

⁴ But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God.

⁹ And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on a pinnacle of the temple, and said to him, If thou art the son of God, cast thyself down from hence. ¹⁰ For it is written, He will give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee: ¹¹ And in their hands they will bear thee up, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. ¹² And Jesus answering, said to him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

¹⁴ And no wonder; for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.

¹⁴ Are they not all ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall inherit salvation?

² Wherefore the people contended with Moses, and said, Give us water that we may drink. And Moses said to them, Why chide you with me? why do ye tempt the LORD?

⁷ And he called the name of the place Massah, and Meribah, because of the chiding of the children of Israel, and because they tempted the LORD, saying, Is the LORD among us, or not?

²² Because all those men who have seen my glory, and my miracles, which I did in Egypt and in the wilderness, and have tempted me now these ten times, and have not hearkened to my voice;

¹⁶ Ye shall not tempt the LORD your God, as ye tempted him in Massah.

¹⁸ And they tempted God in their heart by asking food for their desire.

⁴¹ Yes, they turned back and tempted God, and limited the Holy One of Israel.

⁵⁶ Yet they tempted and provoked the most high God, and kept not his testimonies:

⁹ When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my work.

¹⁴ But lusted exceedingly in the wilderness, and tempted God in the desert.

²⁰ To the law and to the testimony: if they speak not according to this word, it is because there is no light in them.

¹⁵ And now we call the proud happy; yes, they that work wickedness are set up; even they that tempt God are delivered.

¹⁶ And said to him, Hearest thou what these say? And Jesus saith to them, Yes: have ye never read, Out of the mouth of babes and sucklings thou hast perfected praise?

⁴² Jesus saith to them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner: this is the Lord's doing, and it is marvelous in our eyes?

³¹ But as concerning the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken to you by God, saying, ³² I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? God is not the God of the dead, but of the living.

⁹ Then Peter said to her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold the feet of them who have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out.

⁹ Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents.

⁹ When your fathers tempted me, proved me, and saw my works forty years.

⁴ When he showed the riches of his glorious kingdom and the honor of his excellent majesty many days, even a hundred and eighty days.

¹¹ And Haman told them of the glory of his riches, and the multitude of his children, and all the things in which the king had promoted him, and how he had advanced him above the princes and servants of the king.

¹⁶ (49:15)But God will redeem my soul from the power of the grave: for he shall receive me. Selah. ¹⁷ (49:16)Be not thou afraid when one is made rich, when the glory of his house is increased;

³⁰ The king spoke, and said, Is not this great Babylon, that I have built for the house of the kingdom by the might of my power, and for the honor of my majesty?

⁵ Then the devil taketh him up into the holy city, and setteth him on a pinnacle of the temple,

²⁶ For what is a man profited, if he shall gain the whole world, and lose his own soul? or what shall a man give in exchange for his soul?

⁵ And the devil taking him up upon a high mountain, showed to him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment of time. ⁶ And the devil said to him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them: for that is delivered to me, and to whomsoever I will, I give it. ⁷ If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine.

²⁴ By faith Moses, when he had come to years, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh's daughter; ²⁵ Choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God, than to enjoy the pleasures of sin for a season; ²⁶ Esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures of Egypt: for he had respect to the recompense of the reward.

²⁴ For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and its flower falleth away:

¹⁵ Love not the world, neither the things that are in the world. If any man loveth the world, the love of the Father is not in him. ¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the lust of the flesh, and the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life, is not from the Father, but is from the world.

¹⁵ And the seventh angel sounded; and there were great voices in heaven, saying, The kingdoms of this world are become the kingdoms of our Lord, and of his Christ; and he will reign for ever and ever.

⁷ The LORD maketh poor, and maketh rich: he bringeth low, and lifteth up. ⁸ He raiseth the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the beggar from the dunghill, to set them among princes, and to make them inherit the throne of glory: for the pillars of the earth are the LORD'S, and he hath set the world upon them.

¹¹ Yes, all kings shall fall down before him: all nations shall serve him.

⁷ He raiseth the poor out of the dust, and lifteth the needy out of the dunghill; ⁸ That he may set him with princes, even with the princes of his people.

¹⁵ By me kings reign, and princes decree justice.

⁵ I have made the earth, the man and the beast that are upon the ground, by my great power and by my out-stretched arm, and have given it to whom it seemed meet to me. ⁶ And now have I given all these lands into the hand of Nebuchadnezzar the king of Babylon, my servant; and the beasts of the field have I given him also to serve him.

³⁷ Thou, O king, art a king of kings: for the God of heaven hath given thee a kingdom, power, and strength, and glory. ³⁸ And wherever the children of men dwell, the beasts of the field and the fowls of the heaven hath he given into thy hand, and hath made thee ruler over them all. Thou art this head of gold.

³² And they shall drive thee from men, and thy dwelling shall be with the beasts of the field: they shall make thee to eat grass as oxen, and seven times shall pass over thee, until thou shalt know that the most High ruleth in the kingdom of men, and giveth it to whomsoever he will.

¹⁸ O thou king, the most high God gave Nebuchadnezzar thy father a kingdom, and majesty, and glory, and honor: ¹⁹ And for the majesty that he gave him, all people, nations, and languages, trembled and feared before him: whom he would he slew; and whom he would he kept alive; and whom he would he set up; and whom he would he put down.

²⁶ This is the interpretation of the thing: MENE; God hath numbered thy kingdom, and finished it. ²⁷ TEKEL; Thou art weighed in the balances, and art found wanting. ²⁸ PERES; Thy kingdom is divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.

¹⁵ And said, What will ye give me, and I will deliver him to you? And they covenanted with him for thirty pieces of silver.

³¹ Now is the judgment of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

³ Jesus knowing that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he had come from God, and was going to God;

¹¹ Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

²⁰ But I say, that the things which the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to demons, and not to God: and I would not that ye should have fellowship with demons. ²¹ Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord, and the cup of demons: ye cannot be partakers of the Lord's table, and of the table of demons.

⁴ In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine to them.

⁶ Not a novice, lest being lifted up with pride he fall into the condemnation of the devil.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him. And he said to me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

¹⁶ And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS AND LORD OF LORDS.

⁸ And I John saw these things, and heard them. And when I had heard and seen, I fell down to worship before the feet of the angel who showed me these things. ⁹ Then saith he to me, See thou do it not: for I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them who keep the sayings of this book: worship God.

¹³ Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God, and serve him, and shalt swear by his name. ¹⁴ Ye shall not go after other gods, of the gods of the people which are around you;

²⁰ Thou shalt fear the LORD thy God; him shalt thou serve, and to him shalt thou cleave, and swear by his name.

³ And Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, If ye do return to the LORD with all your hearts, then put away the strange gods, and Ashtaroth, from among you, and prepare your hearts to the LORD, and serve him only: and he will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.

¹ And Satan stood up against Israel, and incited David to number Israel.

⁶ Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

¹² And the LORD said to Satan, Behold, all that he hath is in thy power; only upon himself put not forth thy hand. So Satan went forth from the presence of the LORD.

⁶ Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand.

¹ And he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the LORD, and Satan standing at his right hand to resist him. ² And the LORD said to Satan, The LORD rebuke thee, O Satan; even the LORD that hath chosen Jerusalem rebuke thee: is not this a brand plucked out of the fire?

²³ But he turned, and said to Peter, Get thee behind me, Satan; thou art an offense to me: for thou savorest not the things that are of God, but those that are of men.

⁷ Submit yourselves therefore to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you.

⁹ Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

⁶ And saith to him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down, for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee: and in their hands they shall uphold thee, lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone.

⁵³ Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he will presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

² And behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of the Lord descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it. ³ His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow. ⁴ And for fear of him the keepers trembled and became as dead men. ⁵ And the angel answered and said to the women, Fear ye not: for I know that ye seek Jesus, who was crucified.

¹³ And he was there in the wilderness forty days tempted by Satan: and was with the wild beasts, and the angels ministered to him.

¹³ And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

⁴³ And there appeared to him an angel from heaven, strengthening him.

⁵³ When I was daily with you in the temple, ye stretched forth no hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

¹⁶ And without controversy, great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached to the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.

⁶ And again, when he bringeth in the first-begotten into the world, he saith, And let all the angels of God worship him.

¹¹ And I beheld, and I heard the voice of many angels around the throne, and the living beings, and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; ¹² Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honor, and glory, and blessing.

³ For Herod had laid hold on John, and bound him, and put him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife.

¹⁴ Now after John was put in prison, Jesus came into Galilee, preaching the gospel of the kingdom of God,

¹⁷ For Herod himself had sent forth and laid hold upon John, and bound him in prison for the sake of Herodias, his brother Philip's wife: for he had married her.

²⁰ Added yet this above all, that he shut up John in prison.

¹⁴ And Jesus returned in the power of the spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the surrounding region.

³¹ And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath-days.

²⁴ For John was not yet cast into prison.

⁴³ Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.

⁵⁴ This is again the second miracle that Jesus performed, when he had come from Judea into Galilee.

²³ And thou, Capernaum, which art exalted to heaven, shalt be brought down to hell: for if the mighty works which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained until this day.

²⁴ And when they had come to Capernaum, they that received tribute-money, came to Peter, and said, Doth not your Master pay tribute?

²¹ And they went into Capernaum; and immediately on the sabbath he entered into the synagogue and taught.

²³ And he said to them, Ye will surely say to me this proverb, Physician, heal thyself: whatever we have heard done in Capernaum, do also here in thy country.

³⁰ But he passing through the midst of them, went away, ³¹ And came down to Capernaum, a city of Galilee, and taught them on the sabbath-days.

¹² After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples; and they continued there not many days.

⁴⁶ So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.

¹⁷ And entered into a boat, and went over the sea towards Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus had not come to them.

²⁴ When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took boats, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.

⁵⁹ These things he said in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.

¹ Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her distress, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun, and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations. ² The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shades of death, upon them hath the light shined.

²² Now all this was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken from the Lord by the prophet, saying,

¹⁵ And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken from the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son.

²³ And he came and dwelt in a city called Nazareth: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophets, He shall be called a Nazarene.

¹⁷ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, He himself took our infirmities, and bore our sicknesses.

¹⁷ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, ¹⁸ Behold, my servant, whom I have chosen; my beloved, in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon him, and he shall show judgment to the Gentiles. ¹⁹ He shall not contend, nor cry; neither shall any man hear his voice in the streets. ²⁰ A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he shall send forth judgment to victory. ²¹ And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

⁵⁴ But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

⁵⁶ But all this was done, that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled. Then all the disciples forsook him, and fled.

³⁷ For I say to you, that this which is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.

⁴⁴ And he said to them, These are the words which I spoke to you, while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled, which were written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and in the psalms, concerning me.

²⁵ But this cometh to pass, that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, They hated me without a cause.

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

³⁶ For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, A bone of him shall not be broken. ³⁷ And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

¹¹ (Now Hiram the king of Tyre had furnished Solomon with cedar trees and fir trees, and with gold, according to all his desire,) that then king Solomon gave Hiram twenty cities in the land of Galilee.

²⁹ In the days of Pekah king of Israel came Tiglath-pileser king of Assyria, and took Ijon, and Abel-beth-maachah, and Janoah, and Kedesh, and Hazor, and Gilead, and Galilee, all the land of Naphtali, and carried them captive to Assyria.

¹ Nevertheless the dimness shall not be such as was in her distress, when at the first he lightly afflicted the land of Zebulun, and the land of Naphtali, and afterward did more grievously afflict her by the way of the sea, beyond Jordan, in Galilee of the nations.

⁵ Let darkness and the shades of death stain it; let a cloud dwell upon it; let the blackness of the day terrify it.

²² A land of darkness, as darkness itself; and of the shades of death, without any order, and where the light is as darkness.

²² There is no darkness, nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.

¹⁹ (44:18)Our heart is not turned back, neither have our steps declined from thy way;

¹⁰ Such as sit in darkness and in the shades of death, being bound in affliction and iron; ¹¹ Because they rebelled against the words of God, and contemned the counsel of the Most High: ¹² Therefore he brought down their heart with labor; they fell down, and there was none to help. ¹³ Then they cried to the LORD in their trouble, and he saved them out of their distresses. ¹⁴ He brought them out of darkness and the shades of death, and broke their bands asunder.

² The people that walked in darkness have seen a great light: they that dwell in the land of the shades of death, upon them hath the light shined.

⁶ I the LORD have called thee in righteousness, and will hold thy hand, and will keep thee, and give thee for a covenant of the people, for a light of the Gentiles; ⁷ To open the blind eyes, to bring out the prisoners from the prison, and them that sit in darkness out of the prison-house.

¹ Arise, shine; for thy light is come, and the glory of the LORD is risen upon thee. ² For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and gross darkness the people: but the LORD will arise upon thee, and his glory will be seen upon thee. ³ And the Gentiles shall come to thy light, and kings to the brightness of thy rising.

¹⁶ Give glory to the LORD your God, before he shall cause darkness, and before your feet stumble upon the dark mountains, and while ye look for light, he shall turn it into the shades of death, and make it gross darkness.

⁸ Seek him that maketh the seven stars and Orion, and turneth the shades of death into the morning, and maketh the day dark with night: that calleth for the waters of the sea, and poureth them out upon the face of the earth: JEHOVAH is his name:

⁸ Rejoice not against me, O my enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD will be a light to me.

⁷⁸ Through the tender mercy of our God; by which the day-spring from on high hath visited us, ⁷⁹ To give light to them that sit in darkness and in the shades of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

³² A light to enlighten the Gentiles, and the glory of thy people Israel.

² And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.

¹³ But go ye and learn what that meaneth, I will have mercy, and not sacrifice: for I am not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

⁷ And as ye go, proclaim, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand.

¹² And from the days of John the Baptist, until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force.

⁹ Who hath ears to hear, let him hear.

¹¹ He answered and said to them, Because it is given to you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not given.

²⁴ Another parable he proposed to them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field:

⁴⁷ Again, the kingdom of heaven is like a net, that was cast into the sea, and gathered of every kind:

¹ Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened to ten virgins, who took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom.

³² I came not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.

² And he sent them to preach the kingdom of God, and to heal the sick.

¹¹ Even the very dust of your city which cleaveth on us, we do wipe off against you: notwithstanding, be ye sure of this, that the kingdom of God is come nigh to you. ¹² But I say to you, that it shall be more tolerable in that day for Sodom than for that city. ¹³ Woe to thee, Chorazin! woe to thee Bethsaida! for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had a great while ago repented sitting in sackcloth and ashes. ¹⁴ But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the judgment, than for you.

⁷ I say to you, that likewise joy shall be in heaven over one sinner that repenteth, more than over ninety and nine just persons, who need no repentance.

¹⁰ Likewise, I say to you, There is joy in the presence of the angels of God over one sinner that repenteth.

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

³⁸ Then Peter said to them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

¹⁹ Repent ye therefore, and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come from the presence of the Lord,

¹⁸ When they heard these things, they held their peace, and glorified God, saying, Then hath God also to the Gentiles granted repentance to life.

³⁰ And the times of this ignorance God winked at; but now commandeth all men every where to repent:

²¹ Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance towards God, and faith towards our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁰ But showed first to them of Damascus, and at Jerusalem, and throughout all the region of Judea, and then to the Gentiles, that they should repent and turn to God, and do works meet for repentance.

²⁵ In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God perhaps will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth: ²⁶ And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, who are taken captive by him at his will.

¹ Therefore leaving the principles of the doctrine of Christ, let us go on to perfection; not laying again the foundation of repentance from dead works, and of faith towards God,

¹ Now Moses kept the flock of Jethro his father-in-law, the priest of Midian: and he led the flock to the backside of the desert, and came to the mountain of God, even to Horeb.

¹⁰ Come now therefore, and I will send thee to Pharaoh, that thou mayest bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt.

¹¹ And the limit shall go down from Shepham to Riblah, on the east side of Ain; and the border shall descend, and shall reach to the side of the sea of Chinnereth eastward:

¹⁷ The plain also, and Jordan, and the coast of it, from Chinnereth even to the sea of the plain, even the salt-sea, under Ashdoth-pisgah eastward.

¹¹ And there came an angel of the LORD, and sat under an oak which was in Ophrah, that pertained to Joash the Abi-ezrite: and his son Gideon thrashed wheat by the wine-press, to hide it from the Midianites. ¹² And the angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, The LORD is with thee, thou mighty man of valor.

¹⁹ So he departed thence, and found Elisha the son of Shaphat, who was plowing with twelve yoke of oxen before him, and he with the twelfth: and Elijah passed by him, and cast his mantle upon him. ²⁰ And he left the oxen, and ran after Elijah, and said, Let me, I pray thee, kiss my father and my mother, and then I will follow thee. And he said to him, Go back again: for what have I done to thee? ²¹ And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave to the people, and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered to him.

⁷⁰ He chose David also his servant, and took him from the sheep-folds: ⁷¹ From following the ewes great with young he brought him to feed Jacob his people, and Israel his inheritance. ⁷² So he fed them according to the integrity of his heart; and guided them by the skillfulness of his hands.

¹⁴ Then answered Amos, and said to Amaziah, I was no prophet, neither was I a prophet's son; but I was a herdman, and a gatherer of sycamore fruit: ¹⁵ And the LORD took me as I followed the flock, and the LORD said to me, Go, prophesy to my people Israel.

¹⁶ And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ. ¹⁷ So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon to Christ are fourteen generations. ¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in this manner: When his mother Mary was espoused to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child by the Holy Spirit.

² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; The first, Simon, who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

²⁹ And Jesus departed from thence, and came nigh to the sea of Galilee; and ascended a mountain, and sat down there.

¹⁸ And I say also to thee, that thou art Peter, and upon this rock I will build my church: and the gates of hell shall not prevail against it.

¹⁶ Now as he was walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw Simon, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea: for they were fishers. ¹⁷ And Jesus said to them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. ¹⁸ And immediately they forsook their nets, and followed him. ¹⁹ And when he had gone a little further thence, he saw James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, who also were in the boat mending their nets. ²⁰ And immediately he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.

³¹ And again, departing from the borders of Tyre and Sidon, he came to the sea of Galilee, through the midst of the borders of Decapolis.

¹ And it came to pass, that as the people pressed upon him to hear the word of God, he stood by the lake of Gennesaret. ² And saw two boats standing by the lake: but the fishermen had gone out of them, and were washing their nets. ³ And he entered into one of the boats, which was Simon's, and prayed him that he would thrust out a little from the land. And he sat down, and taught the people out of the boat. ⁴ Now when he had left speaking, he said to Simon, Lanch out into the deep, and let down your nets for a draught. ⁵ And Simon answering said to him, Master, we have toiled all the night, and have taken nothing; nevertheless, at thy word I will let down the net. ⁶ And when they had done this, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net broke. ⁷ And they beckoned to their partners, who were in the other boat, that they should come and help them. And they came, and filled both the boats, so that they began to sink. ⁸ When Simon Peter saw it, he fell down at Jesus' knees, saying, Depart from me; for I am a sinful man, O Lord. ⁹ For he was astonished, and all that were with him, at the draught of the fishes which they had taken: ¹⁰ And so was also James and John the sons of Zebedee, who were partners with Simon. And Jesus said to Simon, Fear not: from henceforth thou shalt catch men. ¹¹ And when they had brought their boats to land, they forsook all, and followed him.

¹⁴ Simon (whom he also named Peter) and Andrew his brother, James and John, and Philip and Bartholomew,

⁴⁰ One of the two who heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. ⁴¹ He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah; which is, being interpreted, the Christ. ⁴² And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas; which is, by interpretation, a stone.

¹ After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.

⁸ One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith to him,

¹ After these things Jesus showed himself again to the disciples at the sea of Tiberias: and in this manner did he show himself.

²⁷ But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; ²⁸ And base things of the world, and things which are despised, hath God chosen, and things which are not, to bring to naught things that are: ²⁹ That no flesh should glory in his presence.

⁹ And it shall come to pass, that every thing that liveth, which moveth, whithersoever the rivers shall come, shall live: and there shall be a very great multitude of fish, because these waters shall come thither: for they shall be healed; and every thing shall live whither the river cometh. ¹⁰ And it shall come to pass, that the fishers shall stand upon it from En-gedi even to En-eglaim; they shall be a place to spread forth nets; their fish shall be according to their kinds, as the fish of the great sea, very numerous.

²² But Jesus said to him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

⁹ And as Jesus was passing from thence, he saw a man named Matthew, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he saith to him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

²⁴ Then said Jesus to his disciples, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

²¹ Jesus said to him, If thou wilt be perfect, go and sell what thou hast, and give to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come and follow me.

¹⁷ And Jesus said to them, Come ye after me, and I will make you to become fishers of men. ¹⁸ And immediately they forsook their nets, and followed him.

¹⁴ And as he passed by, he saw Levi the son of Alpheus, sitting at the receipt of custom, and said to him, Follow me. And he arose, and followed him.

²⁷ And after these things he went forth, and saw a publican named Levi, sitting at the receipt of custom: and he said to him, Follow me.

⁵⁹ And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

⁴³ The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith to him, follow me.

²⁶ If any man serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honor.

²² Jesus saith to him, If I will that he shall tarry till I come, what is that to thee? Follow thou me.

²⁰ And to the Jews I became as a Jew, that I might gain the Jews; to them that are under the law, as under the law, that I might gain them that are under the law; ²¹ To them that are without law, as without law, (being not without law to God, but under the law to Christ,) that I might gain them that are without law. ²² To the weak I became as weak, that I might gain the weak: I have become all things to all men, that I might by all means save some.

¹⁶ But be it so, I did not burden you: nevertheless, being crafty, I caught you with guile.

²¹ And he returned back from him, and took a yoke of oxen, and slew them, and boiled their flesh with the instruments of the oxen, and gave to the people, and they ate. Then he arose, and went after Elijah, and ministered to him.

⁶⁰ I made haste, and delayed not to keep thy commandments.

³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me: and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me.

²⁷ Then answered Peter, and said to him, Behold, we have forsaken all, and followed thee? what shall we have therefore?

²⁸ Then Peter began to say to him, Lo, we have left all, and have followed thee. ²⁹ Jesus answered and said, Verily I say to you, There is no man that hath left house, or brethren, or sisters, or father, or mother, or wife, or children, or lands, for my sake, and the gospel's, ³⁰ But he shall receive a hundred-fold now in this time, houses, and brethren, and sisters, and mothers, and children, and lands, with persecutions; and in the world to come, eternal life. ³¹ But many that are first shall be last; and the last first.

²⁸ Then Peter said, Lo, we have left all, and followed thee. ²⁹ And he said to them, Verily I say to you, there is no man that hath left house, or parents, or brethren, or wife, or children for the sake of the kingdom of God, ³⁰ Who shall not receive manifold more in this present time, and in the world to come life everlasting.

¹⁶ To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood:

¹ And after six days, Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them upon a high mountain apart.

²⁰ Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children, with her sons, worshiping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. ²¹ And he said to her, What wilt thou: She saith to him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left in thy kingdom.

³⁷ And he took with him Peter, and the two sons of Zebedee, and began to be sorrowful and very heavy.

¹⁷ And James the son of Zebedee, and John the brother of James, (and he surnamed them Boanerges, which is, Sons of thunder,)

³⁷ And he suffered no man to follow him, save Peter, and James, and John the brother of James.

² There were together Simon Peter, and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two others of his disciples.

² And he killed James the brother of John with the sword.

⁹ Who said to his father and to his mother, I have not seen him, neither did he acknowledge his brethren, nor know his own children: for they have observed thy word, and kept thy covenant. ¹⁰ They shall teach Jacob thy judgments, and Israel thy law; they shall put incense before thee, and whole burnt sacrifice upon thy altar.

²⁰ And immediately he called them: and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired servants, and went after him.

⁵⁹ And he said to another, Follow me. But he said, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father. ⁶⁰ Jesus said to him, Let the dead bury their dead: but go thou and preach the kingdom of God.

²⁶ If any man cometh to me, and hateth not his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

³³ So likewise, whoever he is of you that forsaketh not all that he hath, he cannot be my disciple.

¹⁶ Wherefore henceforth we know no man according to the flesh: though indeed we have known Christ according to the flesh, yet now henceforth we know him no more.

⁸ They said in their hearts, Let us destroy them together: they have burned up all the synagogues of God in the land.

³ Who forgiveth all thy iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases;

¹⁶ When the evening was come, they brought to him many that were possessed with demons: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick; ¹⁷ That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying, He himself took our infirmities, and bore our sicknesses.

³⁵ And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness, and every disease among the people.

⁷ And as ye go, proclaim, saying, The kingdom of heaven is at hand. ⁸ Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons: freely ye have received, freely give.

⁵ The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have the gospel preached to them.

⁹ And when he had departed thence, he went into their synagogue.

¹⁹ When any one heareth the word of the kingdom, and understandeth it not, then cometh the wicked one, and catcheth away that which was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the way side.

⁵⁴ And when he had come into his own country, he taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, Whence hath this man this wisdom, and these mighty works?

¹⁴ And Jesus went forth, and saw a great multitude, and was moved with compassion towards them, and he healed their sick.

³⁰ And great multitudes came to him, having with them those that were lame, blind, dumb, maimed, and many others, and cast them down at Jesus' feet; and he healed them: ³¹ So that the multitude wondered, when they saw the dumb to speak, the maimed to be whole, the lame to walk, and the blind to see: and they glorified the God of Israel.

¹⁴ And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world, for a testimony to all nations; and then shall the end come.

³² And at evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with demons. ³³ And all the city was gathered at the door. ³⁴ And he healed many that were sick with divers diseases, and cast out many demons; and suffered not the demons to speak, because they knew him.

³⁹ And he preached in their synagogues throughout all Galilee, and cast out demons.

¹⁰ For he had healed many; so that they pressed upon him to touch him, as many as had diseases.

² And when the sabbath was come, he began to teach in the synagogue: and many hearing him were astonished, saying, From whence hath this man these things? and what wisdom is this which is given to him, that even such mighty works are wrought by his hands?

⁶ And he marveled because of their unbelief. And he went around the villages teaching.

¹⁵ And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all. ¹⁶ And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath, and stood up to read. ¹⁷ And there was delivered to him the book of the prophet Isaiah. And when he had opened the book, he found the place where it was written, ¹⁸ The spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he hath anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor; he hath sent me to heal the broken-hearted, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

⁴⁰ Now when the sun was setting, all they that had any sick with divers diseases, brought them to him: and he laid his hands on every one of them, and healed them. ⁴¹ And demons also came out of many, crying out, and saying, Thou art Christ the Son of God. And he rebuking them, suffered them not to speak: for they knew that he was Christ.

⁴³ And he said to them, I must preach the kingdom of God to other cities also, for therefore am I sent. ⁴⁴ And he preached in the synagogues of Galilee.

¹⁷ And it came to pass on a certain day, as he was teaching, that there were Pharisees and doctors of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, and Judea, and Jerusalem: and the power of the Lord was present to heal them.

¹⁷ And he came down with them, and stood in the plain; and the company of his disciples, and a great multitude of people out of all Judea and Jerusalem, and from the sea-coast of Tyre and Sidon, who came to hear him, and to be healed of their diseases;

²² Then Jesus answering, said to them, Go, and tell John what things ye have seen and heard; that the blind see, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, to the poor the gospel is preached.

¹ And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and showing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,

¹¹ And the people, when they knew it, followed him: and he received them, and spoke to them of the kingdom of God, and healed them that had need of healing.

⁹ And heal the sick that are therein, and say to them, The kingdom of God is come nigh to you.

¹⁰ And he was teaching in one of the synagogues on the sabbath.

¹ And it came to pass, that on one of those days, as he was teaching the people in the temple, and preaching the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him, with the elders,

¹ After these things Jesus walked in Galilee: for he would not walk in Judea, because the Jews sought to kill him.

²⁰ Jesus answered him, I spoke openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort; and in secret have I said nothing.

¹⁵ So that they brought forth the sick into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at the least the shadow of Peter passing by might overshadow some of them. ¹⁶ There came also a multitude out of the cities around to Jerusalem, bringing sick persons, and them who were afflicted with unclean spirits: and they were healed every one.

¹³ Then Ananias answered, Lord, I have heard by many of this man, how much evil he hath done to thy saints at Jerusalem: ¹⁴ And here he hath authority from the chief priests, to bind all that call on thy name. ¹⁵ But the Lord said to him, Go, for he is a chosen vessel to me, to bear my name before the Gentiles, and kings, and the children of Israel. ¹⁶ For I will show him how great things he must suffer for my name's sake. ¹⁷ And Ananias went, and entered into the house; and putting his hands on him, said, Brother Saul, the Lord (even Jesus that appeared to thee in the way as thou camest) hath sent me, that thou mayest receive thy sight, and be filled with the Holy Spirit. ¹⁸ And immediately there fell from his eyes as it had been scales: and he received sight forthwith, and arose, and was baptized. ¹⁹ And when he had received food, he was strengthened. Then was Saul certain days with the disciples who were at Damascus. ²⁰ And immediately he preached Christ in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God. ²¹ But all that heard him were amazed, and said, Is not this he that destroyed them who called on this name in Jerusalem, and came hither for that intent, that he might bring them bound to the chief priests? ²² But Saul increased the more in strength, and confounded the Jews who dwelt at Damascus, proving that this is very Christ. ²³ And after many days were fulfilled, the Jews took counsel to kill him. ²⁴ But their laying in wait, was known to Saul. And they watched the gates day and night to kill him. ²⁵ Then the disciples took him by night, and let him down by the wall in a basket. ²⁶ And when Saul had come to Jerusalem, he essayed to join himself to the disciples: but they were all afraid of him, and believed not that he was a disciple. ²⁷ But Barnabas took him, and brought him to the apostles, and declared to them how he had seen the Lord in the way, and that he had spoken to him, and how he had preached boldly at Damascus in the name of Jesus. ²⁸ And he was with them coming in and going out at Jerusalem. ²⁹ And he spoke boldly in the name of the Lord Jesus, and disputed against the Grecians: but they went about to slay him. ³⁰ Which when the brethren knew, they brought him down to Cesarea, and sent him forth to Tarsus. ³¹ Then had the churches rest throughout all Judea, and Galilee, and Samaria, and were edified: and walking in the fear of the Lord, and in the comfort of the Holy Spirit, were multiplied. ³² And it came to pass, as Peter passed throughout all quarters, he came down also to the saints who dwelt at Lydda. ³³ And there he found a certain man named Eneas, who had kept his bed eight years, and was sick with the palsy. ³⁴ And Peter said to him, Eneas, Jesus Christ healeth thee: arise, and make thy bed. And he arose immediately. ³⁵ And all that dwelt at Lydda and Saron saw him, and turned to the Lord. ³⁶ Now there was at Joppa a certain disciple named Tabitha, who by interpretation is called Dorcas: this woman was full of good works and alms-deeds which she did. ³⁷ And it came to pass in those days, that she was sick, and died: whom, when they had washed, they laid in an upper chamber. ³⁸ And as Lydda was nigh to Joppa, and the disciples had heard that Peter was there, they sent to him two men, desiring him that he would not delay to come to them. ³⁹ Then Peter arose, and went with them. When he had come, they brought him into the upper chamber: and all the widows stood by him weeping, and showing the coats and garments which Dorcas made, while she was with them. ⁴⁰ But Peter put them all forth, and kneeled down, and prayed; and turning to the body, said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes: and when she saw Peter, she sat up. ⁴¹ And he gave her his hand, and lifted her up; and when he had called the saints and widows, presented her alive. ⁴² And it was known throughout all Joppa: and many believed in the Lord. ⁴³ And it came to pass, that he tarried many days in Joppa with one Simon a tanner.

³⁸ That God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil; for God was with him.

⁴ And he reasoned in the synagogue every sabbath, and persuaded the Jews and the Greeks.

²⁵ And now behold, I know that ye all, among whom I have gone preaching the kingdom of God, will see my face no more.

¹⁵ And how shall they preach, except they be sent? as it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them that preach the gospel of peace, and bring glad tidings of good things?

²⁶ And said, If thou wilt diligently hearken to the voice of the LORD thy God, and wilt do that which is right in his sight, and wilt give ear to his commandments, and keep all his statutes; I will put none of these diseases upon thee, which I have brought upon the Egyptians; for I am the LORD that healeth thee.

⁶ Then David put garrisons in Syria of Damascus: and the Syrians became servants to David, and brought gifts. And the LORD preserved David whithersoever he went.

³¹ For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Chalcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all the surrounding nations.

¹ And when the queen of Sheba heard of the fame of Solomon concerning the name of the LORD, she came to prove him with hard questions.

¹⁷ And the fame of David went out into all lands; and the LORD brought the fear of him upon all nations.

²³ And Jesus went about all Galilee, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of sickness, and all manner of disease among the people.

⁶ And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick with the palsy, grievously tormented.

¹³ And Jesus said to the centurion, Depart; and as thou hast believed, so be it done to thee. And his servant was healed in the same hour. ¹⁴ And when Jesus had come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick with a fever. ¹⁵ And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered to them. ¹⁶ When the evening was come, they brought to him many that were possessed with demons: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick;

²⁸ And when he had come to the other side, into the country of the Gergesenes, there met him two possessed with demons, coming out of the tombs, exceeding fierce, so that no man might pass by that way.

² And behold, they brought to him a man sick with the palsy, lying on a bed: and Jesus, seeing their faith, said to the sick of the palsy, Son, be of good cheer; thy sins are forgiven thee. ³ And behold, certain of the scribes said within themselves, This man blasphemeth. ⁴ And Jesus, knowing their thoughts, said, Why think ye evil in your hearts? ⁵ For which is easier, to say, Thy sins are forgiven thee; or to say, Arise, and walk? ⁶ But that ye may know that the Son of man hath power on earth to forgive sins, (then saith he to the sick with the palsy,) Arise, take up thy bed, and go to thy house. ⁷ And he arose, and departed to his house. ⁸ But when the multitude saw it, they marveled, and glorified God, who had given such power to men.

²⁶ And the fame of this went abroad into all that land.

³¹ But they, when they had departed, spread abroad his fame in all that country. ³² As thy went out, behold, they brought to him a dumb man possessed with a demon.

²² Then was brought to him one possessed with a demon, blind and dumb; and he healed him, so that the blind and dumb both spoke and saw.

¹ At that time Herod the Tetrarch heard of the fame of Jesus,

²² And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same territories, and cried to him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou son of David; my daughter is grievously afflicted with a demon.

¹⁵ Lord, have mercy on my son; for he is lunatic, and grievously distressed; for often he falleth into the fire, and often into the water.

¹⁸ And Jesus rebuked the demon, and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour.

²⁸ And immediately his fame spread abroad throughout all the region around Galilee.

³² And at evening, when the sun had set, they brought to him all that were diseased, and them that were possessed with demons.

³ And they come to him, bringing one sick with the palsy, who was borne by four.

² And when he had come out of the boat, immediately there met him out of the tombs a man with an unclean spirit, ³ Who had his dwelling among the tombs; and no man could bind him, no, not with chains: ⁴ For he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder by him, and the fetters broken in pieces: neither could any man tame him. ⁵ And always, night and day, he was on the mountains, and in the tombs, crying, and cutting himself with stones. ⁶ But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him, ⁷ And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the Most High God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not. ⁸ (For he said to him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.) ⁹ And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, saying, My name is Legion: for we are many. ¹⁰ And he besought him much that he would not send them away out of the country. ¹¹ Now there was there nigh to the mountains a great herd of swine feeding. ¹² And all the demons besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may enter into them. ¹³ And forthwith Jesus gave them leave. And the unclean spirits went out, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea (they were about two thousand) and were choked in the sea. ¹⁴ And they that fed the swine fled, and told it in the city, and in the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done. ¹⁵ And they come to Jesus, and see him that was possessed with the demon, and had the legion, sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. ¹⁶ And they that saw it told them how it befell him that was possessed with the demon, and also concerning the swine. ¹⁷ And they began to pray him to depart out of their borders. ¹⁸ And when he had come into the boat, he that had been possessed with the demon prayed him that he might be with him.

³³ And in the synagogue there was a man who had a spirit of an unclean demon; and he cried out with a loud voice, ³⁴ Saying, Let us alone; what have we to do with thee, Jesus of Nazareth? art thou come to destroy us? I know thee who thou art, the Holy One of God. ³⁵ And Jesus rebuked him, saying, Hold thy peace, and come out of him. And when the demon had thrown him in the midst, he came out of him, and hurt him not.

¹⁵ But so much the more a fame of him went abroad: and great multitudes came together to hear and to be healed by him of their infirmities.

²⁷ And when he went forth to land, there met him out of the city a certain man, who had demons a long time, and wore no clothes, neither abode in any house, but in the tombs. ²⁸ When he saw Jesus, he cried out, and fell down before him, and with a loud voice said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of God most high? I beseech thee torment me not. ²⁹ (For he had commanded the unclean spirit to come out of the man. For often it had caught him, and he was kept bound with chains, and in fetters: and he broke the bands, and was driven by the demon into the wilderness.) ³⁰ And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many demons had entered into him. ³¹ And they besought him, that he would not command them to go out into the deep. ³² And there was there a herd of many swine feeding on the mountain: and they besought him that he would suffer them to enter into them. And he suffered them. ³³ Then the demons went out of the man, and entered into the swine: and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the lake, and were choked. ³⁴ When they that fed them saw what was done, they fled, and went and told it in the city and in the country. ³⁵ Then they went out to see what was done; and came to Jesus, and found the man out of whom the demons had departed, sitting at the feet of Jesus, clothed, and in his right mind: and they were afraid. ³⁶ They also who saw it, told them by what means he that was possessed by the demons was healed. ³⁷ Then the whole multitude of the surrounding country of the Gadarenes, besought him to depart from them: for they were taken with great fear. And he went into the boat, and returned.

²¹ Others said, These are not the words of him that hath a demon. Can a demon open the eyes of the blind?

²³ And they wrote letters by them after this manner; The apostles, and elders, and brethren, send greeting to the brethren who are of the Gentiles in Antioch, and Syria, and Cilicia.

⁴¹ And he went through Syria and Cilicia, confirming the churches.

²⁰ And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis how great things Jesus had done for him. And all men wondered.

¹⁹ And the whole multitude sought to touch him; for there went virtue out of him, and healed them all.
