⁵ And Moses brought their cause before the LORD.

¹⁵ And Moses said to his father-in-law, Because the people come to me to inquire of God: ¹⁶ When they have a matter, they come to me, and I judge between one and another, and I make them know the statutes of God, and his laws. ¹⁷ And Moses's father-in-law said to him, The thing that thou doest is not good. ¹⁸ Thou wilt surely wear away, both thou, and this people that is with thee: for this thing is too heavy for thee; thou art not able to perform it thyself alone. ¹⁹ Hearken now to my voice, I will give thee counsel, and God shall be with thee: Be thou for the people toward God, that thou mayest bring the causes to God:

²² And there I will meet with thee, and I will commune with thee from above the mercy-seat, from between the two cherubim which are upon the ark of the testimony, of all things which I will give thee in commandment to the children of Israel.

⁸ And Moses said to them, Stand still, and I will hear what the LORD will command concerning you.

⁵ Trust in the LORD with all thy heart; and lean not to thy own understanding. ⁶ In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he will direct thy paths.
