⁷ As a fountain casteth out her waters, so she casteth out her wickedness: violence and devastation is heard in her; before me continually are grief and wounds.

¹⁴ I have seen also in the prophets of Jerusalem a horrible thing: they commit adultery, and walk in lies: they strengthen also the hands of evil-doers, that none doth return from his wickedness: they are all of them to me as Sodom, and the inhabitants of it as Gomorrah.

³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them who are sent to thee, how often would I have gathered thy children, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under her wings, and ye would not! ³⁸ Behold, your house is left to you desolate.

⁶ For they have made ready their heart like an oven, while they lie in wait: their baker sleepeth all the night; in the morning it burneth as a flaming fire.

¹ Woe to them that devise iniquity, and work evil upon their beds! when the morning is light, they practice it, because it is in the power of their hand. ² And they covet fields, and take them by violence; and houses, and take them away: so they oppress a man and his house, even a man and his heritage.

¹ Woe to her that is filthy and polluted, to the oppressing city! ² She obeyed not the voice; she received not correction; she trusted not in the LORD; she drew not near to her God. ³ Her princes within her are roaring lions; her judges are evening wolves; they gnaw not the bones till the morrow.

¹² And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. And the conspiracy was strong; for the people increased continually with Absalom.

²³ And the counsel of Ahithophel, which he counseled in those days, was as if a man had inquired at the oracle of God: so was all the counsel of Ahithophel both with David and with Absalom.

⁴ Take ye heed every one of his neighbor, and trust ye not in any brother: for every brother will utterly supplant, and every neighbor will walk with slanders.

⁵ Trust ye not in a friend, put ye not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of thy mouth from her that lieth in thy bosom.

⁴⁷ And while he was yet speaking, lo, Judas, one of the twelve, came, and with him a great multitude with swords and staffs, from the chief priests and elders of the people. ⁴⁸ Now he that betrayed him, gave them a sign, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; hold him fast. ⁴⁹ And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail Master; and kissed him. ⁵⁰ And Jesus said to him, Friend, Why art thou come? Then they came, and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

⁴⁴ And he that betrayed him, had given them a token, saying, Whomsoever I shall kiss, that same is he; take him, and lead him away safely. ⁴⁵ And as soon as he was come, he goeth immediately to him, and saith, Master, master; and kissed him.

²¹ But behold, the hand of him that betrayeth me is with me on the table.

⁴⁷ And while he was yet speaking, behold a multitude, and he that was called Judas, one of the twelve, went before them, and drew near to Jesus to kiss him. ⁴⁸ But Jesus said to him, Judas, betrayest thou the Son of man with a kiss?

¹³ When Pilate therefore heard that saying, he brought Jesus forth, and sat down on the judgment-seat, in a place that is called the Pavement, but in the Hebrew, Gabbatha.

⁴ (42:3)My tears have been my food day and night, while they continually say to me, Where is thy God?

¹ A Song of degrees of David. I was glad when they said to me, Let us go into the house of the LORD.

³ And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.

³¹ And they come to thee as the people come, and they sit before thee as my people, and they hear thy words, but they will not do them: for with their mouth they show much love, but their heart goeth after their covetousness.

³⁰ But if the LORD shall make a new thing, and the earth shall open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain to them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the LORD. ³¹ And it came to pass, as he had made an end of speaking all these words, that the ground cleaved asunder that was under them: ³² And the earth opened her mouth, and swallowed them up, and their houses, and all the men that appertained to Korah, and all their goods. ³³ They, and all that appertained to them went down alive into the pit, and the earth closed upon them: and they perished from among the congregation. ³⁴ And all Israel that were round about them, fled at the cry of them: for they said, Lest the earth swallow us up also.

²³ And when Ahithophel saw that his counsel was not followed, he saddled his ass, and arose, and went home to his house, to his city, and put his household in order, and hanged himself, and died. and was buried in the sepulcher of his father.

⁹ And Absalom met the servants of David. And Absalom rode upon a mule, and the mule went under the thick boughs of a great oak, and his head caught hold of the oak, and he was suspended between the heaven and the earth; and the mule that was under him went away.

¹⁴ Then said Joab, I may not tarry thus with thee. And he took three darts in his hand, and thrust them through the heart of Absalom, while he was yet alive in the midst of the oak.

⁶ Set thou a wicked man over him: and let Satan stand at his right hand. ⁷ When he shall be judged, let him be condemned: and let his prayer become sin. ⁸ Let his days be few; and let another take his office. ⁹ Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow. ¹⁰ Let his children be continually vagabonds, and beg: let them seek their bread also out of their desolate places. ¹¹ Let the extortioner catch all that he hath; and let strangers spoil his labor. ¹² Let there be none to extend mercy to him: neither let there be any to favor his fatherless children. ¹³ Let his posterity be cut off; and in the generation following let their name be blotted out. ¹⁴ Let the iniquity of his fathers be remembered with the LORD; and let not the sin of his mother be blotted out. ¹⁵ Let them be before the LORD continually, that he may cut off the memory of them from the earth. ¹⁶ Because that he remembered not to show mercy, but persecuted the poor and needy man, that he might even slay the broken in heart. ¹⁷ As he loved cursing, so let it come to him: as he delighted not in blessing, so let it be far from him. ¹⁸ As he clothed himself with cursing like as with his garment, so let it come into his bowels like water, and like oil into his bones. ¹⁹ Let it be to him as the garment which covereth him, and for a girdle with which he is girded continually. ²⁰ Let this be the reward of my adversaries from the LORD, and of them that speak evil against my soul.

²⁴ The Son of man goeth, as it is written concerning him: but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! it had been good for that man, if he had not been born.

⁵ And he cast down the pieces of silver in the temple, and departed, and went and hanged himself.

¹⁸ Now this man purchased a field with the reward of iniquity; and falling headlong, he burst asunder in the midst, and all his bowels gushed out. ¹⁹ And it was known to all the dwellers at Jerusalem; so that that field is called in their proper tongue, Aceldama, that is to say, The field of blood. ²⁰ For it is written in the book of Psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no man dwell in it: and, His bishopric let another take.

²⁵ That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

¹⁵ And call upon me in the day of trouble: I will deliver thee, and thou shalt glorify me.

²⁸ But it is good for me to draw near to God: I have put my trust in the Lord GOD, that I may declare all thy works.

¹⁵ He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honor him.

⁴ For my love they are my adversaries: but I give myself to prayer.

¹¹ And they were filled with madness; and communed one with another what they might do to Jesus. ¹² And it came to pass in those days, that he went out to a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.

⁷ Behold, I cry out of wrong, but I am not heard: I cry aloud, but there is no judgment.

³⁵ And in the morning, rising a great while before day, he went out and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

⁴⁶ And when he had dismissed them, he departed to a mountain to pray.

⁴⁸ And he saw them toiling in rowing; for the wind was contrary to them: and about the fourth watch of the night he cometh to them, walking upon the sea, and would have passed by them.

¹ And he spoke a parable to them to this end, that men ought always to pray, and not to faint; ² Saying, There was in a city a judge, who feared not God, neither regarded man. ³ And there was a widow in that city; and she came to him, saying, Avenge me of my adversary. ⁴ And he would not for a while: but afterward he said within himself, Though I fear not God, nor regard man; ⁵ Yet because this widow troubleth me, I will avenge her, lest by her continual coming she weary me. ⁶ And the Lord said, Hear what the unjust judge saith. ⁷ And will not God avenge his own elect, who cry day and night to him, though he beareth long with them?

¹ Now Peter and John went up together into the temple, at the hour of prayer, being the ninth hour.

³ He saw in a vision evidently, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of God coming in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius.

⁹ On the morrow, as they were going on their journey, and drew nigh to the city, Peter went up upon the house-top to pray, about the sixth hour:

³⁰ And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour; and at the ninth hour I prayed in my house, and behold, a man stood before me in bright clothing,

¹⁸ Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching for this purpose with all perseverance and supplication for all saints;

¹⁷ Pray without ceasing.

²⁸ And Ahimaaz called, and said to the king, All is well. And he fell down to the earth upon his face before the king, and said, Blessed be the LORD thy God, who hath delivered up the men that raised their hand against my lord the king.

¹ And David spoke to the LORD the words of this song in the day that the LORD had delivered him from the hand of all his enemies, and from the hand of Saul:

¹⁶ And he answered, Fear not: for they that are with us are more than they that are with them.

⁷ Be strong and courageous, be not afraid nor dismayed for the king of Assyria, nor for all the multitude that is with him: for there are more with us than with him: ⁸ With him is an arm of flesh; but with us is the LORD our God to help us, and to fight our battles. And the people rested themselves upon the words of Hezekiah king of Judah.

⁶ (3:5)I laid me down and slept; I awaked; for the LORD sustained me. ⁷ (3:6)I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people, that have set themselves against me on all sides.

¹ A Psalm of David. The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? ² When the wicked, even my enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell. ³ Though a host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

⁵³ Thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he will presently give me more than twelve legions of angels?

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus, and their own prophets, and have persecuted us; and they please not God, and are contrary to all men: ¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles that they may be saved, to fill up their sins always: for the wrath is come upon them to the uttermost.

¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, holy and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell on the earth? ¹¹ And white robes were given to every one of them; and it was said to them, that they should rest yet for a little season, until their fellow-servants also and their brethren, that should be killed as they were, should be fulfilled.

¹⁷ And the king said to the footmen that stood about him, Turn, and slay the priests of the LORD: because their hand also is with David, and because they knew when he fled, and did not show it to me. But the servants of the king would not put forth their hand to fall upon the priests of the LORD.

³² And Absalom answered Joab, Behold, I sent to thee, saying, Come hither, that I may send thee to the king, to say, Why am I come from Geshur? it had been good for me had I been there still: now therefore let me see the king's face; and if there is any iniquity in me, let him kill me. ³³ So Joab came to the king, and told him: and when he had called for Absalom, he came to the king, and bowed himself on his face to the ground before the king: and the king kissed Absalom.

¹⁰ But Absalom sent spies throughout all the tribes of Israel, saying, As soon as ye hear the sound of the trumpet, then ye shall say, Absalom reigneth in Hebron. ¹¹ And with Absalom went two hundred men from Jerusalem, that were called; and they went in their simplicity, and they knew not any thing. ¹² And Absalom sent for Ahithophel the Gilonite, David's counselor, from his city, even from Giloh, while he offered sacrifices. ¹² And the man said to Joab, Though I should receive a thousand shekels of silver in my hand, yet would I not put forth my hand against the king's son: for in our hearing the king charged thee and Abishai and Ittai, saying, Beware that none touch the young man Absalom.

⁴ (7:3)O LORD my God, if I have done this; if there is iniquity in my hands;

²⁸ (89:27)Also I will make him my first-born, higher than the kings of the earth.

⁵ And they have rewarded me evil for good, and hatred for my love.

¹⁶ As I live, saith the Lord GOD, surely in the place where the king dwelleth that made him king, whose oath he despised, and whose covenant he broke, even with him in the midst of Babylon he shall die. ¹⁷ Neither shall Pharaoh with his mighty army and great company make for him in the war, by casting up mounts, and building forts, to cut off many persons: ¹⁸ Seeing he despised the oath by breaking the covenant, when lo, he had given his hand, and hath done all these things, he shall not escape. ¹⁹ Therefore thus saith the Lord GOD; As I live, surely my oath that he hath despised, and my covenant that he hath broken, even that will I recompense upon his own head.

³ Draw me not away with the wicked, and with the workers of iniquity, who speak peace to their neighbors, but mischief is in their hearts.

³ (64:2)Hide me from the secret counsel of the wicked; from the insurrection of the workers of iniquity:

³ For the lips of a strange woman drop as a honey-comb, and her mouth is smoother than oil: ⁴ But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a two-edged sword.

¹⁸ There is that speaketh like the piercings of a sword: but the tongue of the wise is health.

²⁴ He that hateth dissembleth with his lips, and layeth up deceit within him; ²⁵ When he speaketh fair, believe him not: for there are seven abominations in his heart. ²⁶ Whose hatred is covered by deceit, his wickedness shall be shown before the whole congregation.

²⁸ A lying tongue hateth those that are afflicted by it; and a flattering mouth worketh ruin.

²⁵ Then Judas, who betrayed him, answered and said, Master, is it I? He said to him, Thou hast said.

²⁰ And they watched him, and sent forth spies, who should feign themselves just men, that they might take hold of his words, that so they might deliver him to the power and authority of the governor. ²¹ And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayest and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of any, but teachest the way of God truly:

² And supper being ended (the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon's son, to betray him;)

⁹ He will keep the feet of his saints, and the wicked shall be silent in darkness; for by strength shall no man prevail.

⁸ I have set the LORD always before me: because he is at my right hand, I shall not be moved.

¹⁴ Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he will strengthen thy heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.

⁵ Commit thy way to the LORD; trust also in him; and he will bring it to pass.

²⁴ Though he should fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the LORD upholdeth him with his hand.

¹⁰ (42:9)I will say to God my rock, Why hast thou forgotten me? why go I mourning because of the oppression of the enemy? ¹¹ (42:10)As with a sword in my bones, my enemies reproach me; while they say daily to me, Where is thy God?

¹⁰ Who is among you that feareth the LORD, that obeyeth the voice of his servant, that walketh in darkness, and hath no light? let him trust in the name of the LORD, and rely upon his God.

²⁵ Therefore I say to you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat, or what ye shall drink; nor yet for your body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than food, and the body than raiment?

³¹ Therefore be not anxious, saying, What shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or, with what shall we be clothed? ³² (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things. ³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. ³⁴ Therefore be not anxious for the morrow: for the morrow will be solicitous for the things of itself. Sufficient to the day is its own evil.

²⁸ Come to me, all ye that labor, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

²² And he said to his disciples, Therefore I say to you, Be not anxious for your life, what ye shall eat; neither for the body, what ye shall put on.

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: ²⁸ And I give to them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any pluck them out of my hand. ²⁹ My Father, who gave them to me, is greater than all; and none is able to pluck them out of my Father's hand. ³⁰ I and my Father are one.

⁶ Be anxious for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. ⁷ And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, will keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

⁵ Who are kept by the power of God through faith to salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

⁷ Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

²⁷ And when Abner had returned to Hebron, Joab took him aside in the gate to speak with him quietly, and smote him there under the fifth rib that he died, for the blood of Asahel his brother.

⁹ And Joab said to Amasa, Art thou in health, my brother? And Joab took Amasa by the beard with the right hand to kiss him. ¹⁰ But Amasa took no heed to the sword that was in Joab's hand: so he smote him in the fifth rib, and shed out his bowels to the ground, and struck him not again; and he died. So Joab and Abishai his brother pursued after Sheba the son of Bichri.

⁵ Moreover, thou knowest also what Joab the son of Zeruiah did to me, and what he did to the two captains of the armies of Israel, to Abner the son of Ner, and to Amasa the son of Jether, whom he slew, and shed the blood of war in peace, and put the blood of war upon his girdle that was about his loins, and in his shoes that were on his feet. ⁶ Do therefore according to thy wisdom, and let not his hoary head go down to the grave in peace.

³² It shall be accomplished before his time, and his branch shall not be green.

⁶ (5:5)The foolish shall not stand in thy sight: thou hatest all workers of iniquity.

¹⁵ (7:14)Behold, he travaileth with iniquity, and hath conceived mischief, and brought forth falsehood. ¹⁶ (7:15)He made a pit, and digged it, and hath fallen into the ditch which he made.

² O my God, I trust in thee: let me not be ashamed, let not my enemies triumph over me,

⁹ (58:8)As a snail which melteth, let every one of them pass away: like the untimely birth of a woman, that they may not see the sun.

¹² (59:11)Slay them not, lest my people forget: scatter them by thy power; and bring them down, O Lord our shield. ¹³ (59:12)For the sin of their mouth and the words of their lips let them even be taken in their pride: and for cursing and lying which they speak.

¹⁸ Surely thou didst set them in slippery places: thou didst cast them down into destruction.

²⁷ The fear of the LORD prolongeth days: but the years of the wicked shall be shortened.

¹¹ Hell and destruction are before the LORD: how much more then the hearts of the children of men?

²⁰ Hell and destruction are never full; so the eyes of man are never satisfied.

¹⁷ Be not over much wicked, neither be thou foolish: why shouldst thou die before thy time?

¹⁷ Behold, for peace I had great bitterness: but thou hast in love to my soul delivered it from the pit of corruption: for thou hast cast all my sins behind thy back.
