¹⁰ He that loveth his brother, abideth in the light, and there is no occasion of stumbling in him.

²¹ Yet hath he not root in himself, and so endureth but for a while: for when tribulation or persecution ariseth because of the word, straight-way he is offended.

⁷ Wo to the world because of offences: for it must needs be that offences come; but wo to that man by whom the offence cometh.

³² Wherefore? Because they sought it, not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law: for they stumbled at that stumbling stone; ³³ As it is written, Behold I lay in Sion a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence: and every one that believeth on him shall not be ashamed.

¹³ Let us therefore no longer judge one another; but judge this rather, not to lay a stumbling block, or a scandal before a brother.

¹ Then said he to the disciples, It is impossible but offences will come; but wo to him through whom they come. ² It were better for him that a mill-stone were hanged about his neck, and he cast into the sea, than that he should offend one of these little ones.

³¹ Then said Jesus to the Jews who believed on him, If ye continue in my word, ye are my disciples indeed:

¹⁰ That ye may try the things that are excellent, that ye may be sincere and without offence unto the day of Christ,

¹⁰ Wherefore the rather, brethren, be diligent to make your calling and election firm; for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.

¹⁴ We know, that we are passed from death to life, because we love the brethren: he that loveth not his brother abideth in death.
