¹ Peter an Apostle of Jesus Christ to the sojourners scattered thro' Pontus, ² Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, Elect (according to the fore-knowledge of God the Father) thro' sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. Grace and peace be multiplied to you. ³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his abundant mercy, hath begotten us again to a living hope, by the resurrection of Christ from the dead, ⁴ To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, ⁵ Who are kept by the power of God thro' faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time. ⁶ Wherein ye greatly rejoice, tho' now for a little while (if need be) ye are in heaviness thro' manifold temptations. ⁷ That the trial of your faith, which is much more precious than gold, (that perisheth, tho' it be tried with fire) may be found unto praise, and honour, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, ⁸ Whom having not seen, ye love: in whom tho' ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory, Receiving the end of your faith, the salvation of your souls. ⁹ Of which salvation the prophets enquired and searched diligently, ¹⁰ who prophesied of the grace of God toward you. ¹¹ Searching what, and what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them signified, when he testified before hand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that should follow. ¹² To whom it was revealed, that not for themselves, but for us they ministered the things which have been now declared to you by them that have preached the gospel to you, with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven: which things angels desire to look into. ¹³ Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be watchful and hope perfectly for the grace that is brought you by the revelation of Jesus Christ. ¹⁴ As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to your former desires, in your ignorance; ¹⁵ But as he who hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation: ¹⁶ For it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. ¹⁷ And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear: ¹⁸ Seeing ye know ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation delivered by tradition from your fathers, ¹⁹ But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, ²⁰ Who verily was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but was manifested in these last times for you, ²¹ Who thro' him believe in God, that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory, that your faith and hope, might be in God. ²² Having purified your souls by obeying the truth thro' the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another with a pure heart fervently: ²³ Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God which liveth and abideth for ever. ²⁴ For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass: The grass is withered, and the flower thereof is fallen off; ²⁵ But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which is preached to you by the gospel.

¹⁸ And walking by the sea of Galilee, he saw two brethren, Simon called Peter, and Andrew his brother, casting a net into the sea, for they were fishers.

¹² Rejoice and be exceeding glad; for great is your reward in heaven; for so persecuted they the prophets who were before you.

¹⁸ For verily I say to you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all things be effected.

⁷ Ask and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find; knock and it shall be opened to you. ⁸ For every one that asketh, receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh, it shall be opened. ⁹ What man is there of you, who if his son ask bread, will give him a stone? ¹⁰ And if he ask a fish, will he give him a serpent? ¹¹ If ye then being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven, give good things to them that ask him?

² Now the names of the twelve apostles are these; the first, Simon who is called Peter, and Andrew his brother; James the son of Zebedee, and John his brother;

³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me, and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me;

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them to babes.

²⁷ All things are delivered to me by my Father; and no one knoweth the Son but the Father; neither knoweth any one the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son is pleased to reveal him. ²⁸ Come to me, all ye that labour, and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.

¹⁷ For verily I say to you, That many prophets and righteous men have desired to see the things which ye see, and have not seen them, and to hear the things which ye hear, and have not heard them.

² Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? ³ For they wash not their hands when they eat bread. But he answering said, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God thro' your tradition?

¹⁷ And Jesus answering said to him, Happy art thou, Simon Barjonah; for flesh and blood have not revealed this to thee, but my Father who is in heaven.

²⁸ Jesus said to them, Verily I say to you, that ye who have followed me, in the renovation, when the Son of man shall sit on the throne of his glory, ye also shall sit on twelve thrones, judging the twelve tribes of Israel.

²⁴ The Son of man goeth as it is written of him: but wo to that man, by whom the Son of man is betrayed: it had been good for that man if he had not been born.

¹⁶ For Paul had determined to sail by Ephesus, that he might not spend any time in Asia; for he hasted, if it were possible, to be at Jerusalem on the day of Pentecost. ¹⁷ And sending to Ephesus from Miletus, he called thither the elders of the church. ¹⁸ And when they were come to him, he said to them, Ye know in what manner I have conversed among you, all the time from the first day I came into Asia,

²⁸ Take heed therefore to yourselves and to the whole flock, over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

³² And now, brethren, I commend you to God, and to the word of his grace, who is able to build you up, and to give you an inheritance among them that are sanctified.

⁹ That if thou confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and believe in thy heart, that God raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

¹⁵ But how shall they preach, unless they be sent? As it is written, How beautiful are the feet of them who bring the good tidings of peace, who bring the glad tidings of good things!

² God hath not rejected his people whom he foreknew. Know ye not what the scripture saith of Elijah? how he pleadeth with God against Israel,

⁵ And so likewise at the present time, there is a remnant, according to the election of grace. ⁶ But if by grace, then it is no more of works: else grace is no longer grace. And if it be of works, then it is no more grace; else work is no longer work. ⁷ What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh, but the election hath obtained, and the rest were blinded.

²⁰ Well; they were broken off for unbelief, and thou standest by faith.

²⁸ With regard to the gospel, they are enemies for your sake; but as for the election, they are beloved, for the sake of their fathers.

² And be not conformed to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect will of God.

⁹ Let love be without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil, cleave to that which is good. ¹⁰ In brotherly love be full of tender affection toward each other, in honour preferring one another:

¹² Rejoice in hope, be patient in tribulation, continue instant in prayer.

¹³ Let us walk decently, as in the day; not in banqueting and drunken entertainments, not in uncleannesses and wantonness, not in strife and envy.

¹⁷ For the kingdom of God is not meat and drink, but righteousness, and peace, and joy in the Holy Ghost.

⁴ For whatsoever things were written aforetime, were written for our instruction, that we, through patience and consolation of the scriptures, may have hope.

¹⁵ That ye may be blameless and simple, the sons of God, unrebukable, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world, ¹⁶ Holding fast the word of life, that I may glory in the day of Christ, that I have not run in vain, neither laboured in vain.

²⁶ For he longed after you all, and was full of heaviness, because ye had heard that he was sick.

³ beware of the concision, For we are the circumcision, who worship God in the spirit, and glory in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh.

¹⁴ But one thing I do, forgetting the things that are behind, and reaching forth unto the things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

²⁰ who mind earthly things) For our conversation is in heaven; from whence also we look for the Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ,

⁴ Rejoice in the Lord always: again, I say, rejoice.

⁵ your love to all the saints) For the hope which is laid up for you in heaven,

¹² Giving thanks unto the Father, who hath made us meet to partake of the inheritance of the saints in light.

¹⁴ In whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of sins:

²³ If ye continue in the faith, grounded and settled, and are not removed from the hope of the gospel which ye have heard, which is preached to every creature that is under heaven, whereof I Paul am made a minister.

²⁶ The mystery which hath been hid from ages and generations; but now is manifested to his saints: ²⁷ To whom among the Gentiles it was the will of God to make known, what is the riches of this glorious mystery, which is Christ in you, the hope of glory:

³ For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. ⁴ When Christ, our life shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory. ⁵ Mortify therefore your members which are upon the earth, fornication, uncleanness, inordinate affection, evil desire, and covetousness, which is idolatry: ⁶ For which things the wrath of God cometh on the children of disobedience: ⁷ In which ye also once walked, when ye lived in them.

¹ Let us therefore fear, lest a promise being left us of entring into his rest, any of us should altogether come short of it. ² For unto us hath the gospel been preached as well as unto them; but the word heard did not profit them, not being mixt with faith in those that heard it.

¹² For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder both of the soul and spirit, both of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

²² And ye now therefore have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one taketh from you.

³³ I have spoken these things to you, that ye may have peace in me. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but take courage: I have overcome the world.

¹ These words spake Jesus, and lifted up his eyes and said, Father, the hour is come: glorify thy Son, that thy Son also may glorify thee: As thou hast given him power over all flesh,

¹¹ And I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep thro' thy name them whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. ¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them thro' thy name. Those whom thou hast given me I have guarded, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled.

¹⁵ I do not pray, that thou wouldest take them out of the world, but that thou wouldest keep them from the evil one.

² And suddenly there was a sound from heaven, as of a rushing, violent wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. ³ And there appeared to them distinct tongues, as of fire; and it sat upon each of them. ⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance. ⁵ And there were dwelling in Jerusalem Jews, devout men, out of every nation under heaven. ⁶ And when this was noised abroad, the multitude came together and were confounded, because every man heard them speaking in his own language. ⁷ And they were amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these who are speaking Galileans? ⁸ And how hear we every one, in our own native language? ⁹ Parthians, and Medes, and Elamites, and dwellers in Mesopotamia, and Judea, ¹⁰ and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt, and the parts of Africk about Cyrene, and Roman sojourners, (Jews and Proselytes) Cretans and Arabians, ¹¹ we hear them speaking in our tongues the wonderful works of God?

⁴ Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death, that as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, so we also should walk in newness of life.

¹⁹ The churches of Asia salute you. Aquila and Priscilla, with the church that is in their house, salute you much in the Lord.

Most gladly therefore will I rather glory in my weaknesses, that the strength of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ Therefore I am well pleased in weaknesses, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, in distresses for Christ's sake; for when I am weak, then I am strong.

¹⁰ Now the God of all grace, who hath called us by Christ Jesus to his eternal glory, after ye have suffered a while, himself shall perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.
