1 Peter Cross References - Wesley

1 Peter an Apostle of Jesus Christ to the sojourners scattered thro' Pontus, 2 Galatia, Cappadocia, Asia, and Bithynia, Elect (according to the fore-knowledge of God the Father) thro' sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience and sprinkling of the blood of Jesus Christ. Grace and peace be multiplied to you. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his abundant mercy, hath begotten us again to a living hope, by the resurrection of Christ from the dead, 4 To an inheritance incorruptible and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, 5 Who are kept by the power of God thro' faith unto salvation, ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 Wherein ye greatly rejoice, tho' now for a little while (if need be) ye are in heaviness thro' manifold temptations. 7 That the trial of your faith, which is much more precious than gold, (that perisheth, tho' it be tried with fire) may be found unto praise, and honour, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ, 8 Whom having not seen, ye love: in whom tho' ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory, Receiving the end of your faith, the salvation of your souls. 9 Of which salvation the prophets enquired and searched diligently, 10 who prophesied of the grace of God toward you. 11 Searching what, and what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them signified, when he testified before hand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that should follow. 12 To whom it was revealed, that not for themselves, but for us they ministered the things which have been now declared to you by them that have preached the gospel to you, with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven: which things angels desire to look into. 13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be watchful and hope perfectly for the grace that is brought you by the revelation of Jesus Christ. 14 As obedient children, not conforming yourselves to your former desires, in your ignorance; 15 But as he who hath called you is holy, so be ye holy in all manner of conversation: 16 For it is written, Be ye holy; for I am holy. 17 And if ye call on the Father, who without respect of persons judgeth according to every man's work, pass the time of your sojourning in fear: 18 Seeing ye know ye were not redeemed with corruptible things, as silver and gold, from your vain conversation delivered by tradition from your fathers, 19 But with the precious blood of Christ, as of a lamb without blemish and without spot, 20 Who verily was foreknown before the foundation of the world, but was manifested in these last times for you, 21 Who thro' him believe in God, that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory, that your faith and hope, might be in God. 22 Having purified your souls by obeying the truth thro' the Spirit unto unfeigned love of the brethren, love one another with a pure heart fervently: 23 Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God which liveth and abideth for ever. 24 For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass: The grass is withered, and the flower thereof is fallen off; 25 But the word of the Lord endureth for ever. And this is the word which is preached to you by the gospel.

Romans 1:15

15 Therefore, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you also who are at Rome.

Romans 1:17

17 For the righteousness of God is revealed therein from faith to faith; as it is written, The just shall live by faith.

Romans 1:21

21 Because knowing God, they did not glorify him as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their reasonings, and their foolish heart was darkened.

Romans 1:23

23 And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image in the likeness of corruptible man, and of birds, and of four-footed creatures and reptiles.

Romans 2:7

7 and honour, and immortality, eternal life. 8 But to them that are contentious, and do not obey the truth, but obey unrighteousness, shall be indignation and wrath,

Romans 2:10-11

10 But glory, honour, and peace shall be to every one who worketh good, to the Jew first, and also to the Gentile. 11 For there is no respect of persons with God.

2 By whom also we have been introduced through faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. 3 And not only so, but we glory in tribulations also, 4 knowing that tribulation worketh patience, And patience experience, and experience hope;

Romans 5:4-4

4 knowing that tribulation worketh patience, And patience experience, and experience hope; 5 And hope shameth us not, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts, by the Holy Ghost which is given unto us.

Romans 5:10

10 For if, when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son, much more being reconciled, we shall be saved through his life. 11 And not only so, but we also glory in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received the reconciliation.

Romans 5:15-21

15 Yet not as the offence, so also is the free gift. For if by the offence of one many died, much more the grace of God, and the gift by grace, that of one man, Jesus Christ, hath abounded unto many. 16 And not as the loss by one that sinned, so is the gift; for the sentence was by one offence to condemnation; but the free gift is of many offences unto justification. 17 For if through one man's offence death reigned by one, they who receive the abundance of grace and of the gift of righteousness, shall much more reign in life, by one, even Jesus Christ. 18 As therefore by one offence the sentence of death came upon all men to condemnation, so also by one righteousness the free gift came upon all men to justification of life. 19 For as by the disobedience of one man, many were constituted sinners, so by the obedience of one, many shall be constituted righteous. 20 But the law came in between, that the offence might abound: yet where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: 21 That as sin had reigned through death, so grace also might reign through righteousness to eternal life, by Jesus Christ our Lord.

22 But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Romans 8:9

9 But ye are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if the Spirit of God dwell in you. And if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his.

Romans 8:28-30

28 And we know, that all things work together for good, to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose. 29 For whom he foreknew, he also predestinated, conformable to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many brethren. 30 And whom he predestinated, them he also called; and whom he called, them he also justified; and whom he justified, them he also glorified. 31 What shall we say then to these things? If God be for us, who can be against us? 32 He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things? 33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth.

Romans 8:33-39

33 Who shall lay any thing to the charge of God's elect? It is God that justifieth. 34 Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is also at the right-hand of God, who likewise maketh intercession for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall affliction, or distress, or persecution, or hunger, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 (As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long, we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter.) 37 Nay, in all these things we more than conquer, through him who hath loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, 39 nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 9:2

5 Now the God of patience and consolation give you to think the same thing, according to Christ Jesus, 6 That ye may with one mind and one mouth glorify the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. 7 Wherefore receive ye one another, as Christ also hath received you, to the glory of God. 8 Now I say, Christ Jesus was a servant of the circumcision, for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers: 9 And that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy, as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. 10 And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. 11 And again, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles, and laud him, all ye people. 12 And again Isaiah faith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and one arising to rule over the Gentiles: in him shall the Gentiles hope. 13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Romans 15:13-13

13 Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

Romans 15:16

16 That I should be the servant of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministring the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles may be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

1 Corinthians 1:21-24

21 For since, in the wisdom of God, the world by wisdom knew not God, it pleased God by the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe. 22 For whereas the Jews demand signs, and the Greeks seek wisdom, We preach Christ crucified, 23 to the Jews a stumbling block, and to the Greeks foolishness: 24 But to them that are called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.

1 Corinthians 4:9-13

9 For I think God hath set forth us the apostles last, as appointed to death; for we are made a spectacle to the world, both to angels and to men. 10 We are fools for Christ's sake; but ye are wise in Christ: we are weak; but ye are strong: ye are honourable; but we are despised. 11 Even to this present hour, we both hunger and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain abode, And labour, working with our own hands: 12 being reviled, we bless; being persecuted, we suffer it: 13 Being defamed, we intreat: we are made as the filth of the world, and off-scouring of all things to this day.

1 Corinthians 5:7-8

7 Purge out therefore the old leaven, that ye may be a new lump, as ye are unleavened; for our passover is slain for us, even Christ: 8 Therefore let us keep the feast; not with the old leaven, nor with the leaven of wickedness and malignity, but with the unleavened bread of sincerity and truth.

1 Corinthians 15:52-54

52 In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed. 53 For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal put on immortality. 54 So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

8 For we would not have you ignorant, brethren, of the trouble which befell us in Asia, that we were exceedingly pressed, above our strength, so that we despaired even of life.

2 Corinthians 1:22

22 Who hath also sealed us, and given us the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

2 Corinthians 1:24

24 Not that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy; for by faith ye have stood.

2 Corinthians 4:7-11

7 But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God, and not of us. 8 We are troubled on every side, yet not crushed; 9 perplexed, but not in despair; Persecuted, but not forsaken; thrown down, but not destroyed; 10 Always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our body. 11 We who live are always delivered unto death for the sake of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal body.

2 Corinthians 4:17

17 For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh out for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory: 18 While we aim not at the things that are seen, but the things that are not seen: for the things that are seen are temporal, but the things that are not seen are eternal.

2 Corinthians 7:1

1 Having therefore, beloved, these promises, let us cleanse ourselves from all pollution of the flesh and of the spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.

11 For behold, this very thing, that ye sorrowed after a godly manner, what diligence it wrought in you, yea, what clearing of yourselves, yea, what indignation, yea, what fear, yea, what vehement desire, yea, what zeal, yea, what revenge? In all things ye have approved yourselves to be pure in this matter.

23 Are they ministers of Christ? (I speak foolishly) I more: in labours more abundantly, in stripes more exceedingly, in prisons more abundantly, in deaths often. 24 Five times I received from the Jews forty stripes save one. 25 Thrice I was beaten with rods, once I was stoned, thrice I have been shipwrecked, a day and a night I passed in the deep: In journeyings often, 26 in dangers from rivers, in dangers from robbers, in dangers from my own countrymen, in dangers from the heathen; in dangers in the city, in dangers in the wilderness, in dangers in the sea, in dangers among false brethren: 27 In labour and toil, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness.

Galatians 5:5

5 For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith. 6 For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love. 7 Ye did run well: who hath hindered you, that ye should not obey the truth?

Galatians 5:22

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness, fidelity,

Ephesians 1:3

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places through Christ, 4 As he hath chosen us through him, before the foundation of the world, that we might be holy and blameless before him in love,

Ephesians 1:4

4 As he hath chosen us through him, before the foundation of the world, that we might be holy and blameless before him in love, 5 Having predestinated us to the adoption of sons to himself by Jesus Christ, according to the good pleasure of his will,

Ephesians 1:7

7 by which he hath freely accepted us through the beloved, By whom we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our sins,

Ephesians 1:10

10 That in the dispensation of the fulness of the times, he might gather together into one in Christ all things which are in heaven, and which are in earth, 11 In him through whom we also have obtained an inheritance, being predestinated according to the purpose of him that worketh all things after the counsel of his own will, 12 That we who first believed in Christ, might be to the praise of his glory. 13 In whom ye likewise believed, after ye had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom having believed, ye were also sealed by that Holy Spirit of promise,

Ephesians 1:13-13

13 In whom ye likewise believed, after ye had heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation; in whom having believed, ye were also sealed by that Holy Spirit of promise, 14 Who is an earnest of our inheritance, till the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of his glory.

Ephesians 1:14-14

14 Who is an earnest of our inheritance, till the redemption of the purchased possession, to the praise of his glory. 15 Wherefore I also, since I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus, and love to all saints,

Ephesians 1:17

17 That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, through the knowledge of him. 18 The eyes of your understanding being inlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints,

Ephesians 1:20-23

20 Which he wrought in Christ, raising him from the dead; and he hath made him sit at his own right-hand in heavenly places, 21 Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. 22 And he hath put all things under his feet, and hath given him to be head over all things to the church, 23 Which is his body; who is the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

Ephesians 2:2

2 who were dead in trespasses and sins, Wherein ye formerly walked, according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the sons of disobedience: Among whom also we all had our conversation in time past,

Ephesians 2:4

4 But God who is rich in mercy,

Ephesians 2:6-10

6 and made us sit together in heavenly places through Christ Jesus: 7 That he might shew in the ages to come the exceeding riches of his grace, in his kindness toward us through Christ Jesus. 8 For by grace ye are saved through faith; and this not of yourselves:

Ephesians 2:8

8 For by grace ye are saved through faith; and this not of yourselves: 9 it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast. 10 For we are his workmanship, created through Christ Jesus unto good works, which God had before prepared, that we might walk in them.

Ephesians 3:8

8 Unto me, who am less than the least of all saints is this grace given, to preach among the Gentiles the unsearchable riches of Christ. 9 And to let all men see, what is the fellowship of the mystery, which was hidden from the beginning of the world by God, who created all things by Jesus Christ: 10 That the manifold wisdom of God might now be made known by the church to the principalities and powers in heavenly places, 11 According to the eternal purpose which he purposed in Christ Jesus our Lord,

Ephesians 3:14

14 For this cause I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

Ephesians 3:17

17 That being rooted and grounded in love,

Ephesians 3:20

20 Now to him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that worketh in us,

Ephesians 4:3

3 forbearing one another in love, Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit, by the bond of peace.

Ephesians 4:17

17 This therefore I say and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles, in the vanity of your mind: 18 Having the understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, by the ignorance that is in them, through the hardness of their hearts: 19 Who being past feeling, have given themselves up to lasciviousness, to work all uncleanness with greediness. 20 But ye have not so learned Christ; Since ye have heard him, 21 and been taught by him, (as the truth is in Jesus) To put off, 22 concerning your former conversation, the old man, which is corrupt, according to the deceitful desires:

Ephesians 5:1-2

1 Be ye therefore followers of God, as beloved children: And walk in love, 2 as Christ also hath loved us, and given himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God of a sweet-smelling savour.

Ephesians 6:24

24 Grace be with all that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

Philippians 1:6

6 Being persuaded of this very thing, that he who hath begun a good work in you, will perfect it until the day of Jesus Christ,

Philippians 1:9

9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more, in all knowledge and in all spiritual sense,

Philippians 1:25

25 And being persuaded of this, I know that I shall remain and continue with you all, for your furtherance and joy of faith:

Philippians 1:27

27 Only let your behaviour be worthy the gospel of Christ, that whether I come and see you, or be absent, I may hear concerning you, that ye stand fast, in one spirit, with one soul striving together for the faith of the gospel,

Philippians 2:9-11

9 Wherefore God also hath highly exalted him, and hath given him a name which is above every name, 10 That at the name of Jesus every knee might bow, of those in heaven, and those on earth, and those under the earth: 11 And every tongue might confess, that Jesus Christ is Lord in the glory of God the Father. 12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but much more now in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.

Colossians 3:12

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering:

25 But he that doth wrong, shall receive for the wrong he hath done; and there is no respect of persons.

1 Thessalonians 1:3

3 Remembring without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of our God and Father:

1 Thessalonians 1:3-4

3 Remembring without ceasing your work of faith, and labour of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ, in the sight of our God and Father: 4 ) Knowing, beloved brethren, your election of God. 5 For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also with power, and with the Holy Ghost, and with much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you, for your sake. 6 And ye became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost.

1 Thessalonians 1:6-6

6 And ye became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost.

1 Thessalonians 2:9

9 For ye remember, brethren, our labour and toil: working night and day, that we might not burden any of you, we preached to you the gospel of God.

1 Thessalonians 2:12

12 as a father his own children, And charged you to walk worthy of God, who hath called you to his kingdom and glory.

1 Thessalonians 3:12

12 And the Lord make you to increase and abound in love towards one another and towards all men, as we also do towards you,

1 Thessalonians 4:3-7

3 For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye abstain from fornication; 4 That every one of you know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour; 5 Not in passionate desire, as the Gentiles who know not God.

1 Thessalonians 4:5-7

5 Not in passionate desire, as the Gentiles who know not God. 6 That none circumvent or defraud his brother in this matter, because the Lord is an avenger of all these things, as we have also told you before and testified. 7 For God hath not called us to uncleanness, but to holiness. 8 He therefore that despiseth, despiseth not man but God; who hath also given you his Holy Spirit. 9 Touching brotherly love, we need not write to you: for ye yourselves are taught of God to love one another.

1 Thessalonians 4:13

13 Now we would not have you ignorant, brethren, concerning them that are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others who have no hope.

1 Thessalonians 5:6-8

6 Therefore let us not sleep as the others, but let us awake and keep awake. 7 For they that sleep, sleep in the night, and they that are drunken are drunken in the night. 8 But let us who are of the day keep awake, having put on the breast-plate of faith and love, and for an helmet the hope of salvation.

2 Thessalonians 1:3

3 We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is meet, because your faith groweth exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all toward each other aboundeth.

2 Thessalonians 1:7-12

7 And to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his mighty angels,

2 Thessalonians 1:7

7 And to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his mighty angels, 8 In flaming fire, taking vengeance on them who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power, 10 When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all that believe (now that our testimony was believed among you) in that day. 11 To this end we pray always for you, that our God would make you worthy of this calling, and fulfill in you all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power; 12 That the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 2:13

13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to Salvation, thro' sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth.

2 Thessalonians 2:13-14

13 But we are bound to give thanks to God always for you, brethren, beloved of the Lord, because God hath from the beginning chosen you to Salvation, thro' sanctification of the Spirit and belief of the truth. 14 To which he hath called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Timothy 1:9

9 not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus, before the world began;

2 Timothy 1:9-10

9 not according to our works, but according to his own purpose and grace, which was given us in Christ Jesus, before the world began; 10 But is now made manifest, by the appearing of our Saviour Jesus Christ, who hath abolished death, and hath brought life and immortality to light through the gospel.

2 Timothy 1:14

10 Therefore I suffer all things for the elect's sake, that they also may obtain the salvation which is through Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

2 Timothy 4:8

8 Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord the righteous judge will render me in that day, and not to me only, but to all them likewise that have loved his appearing.

13 All these died in faith, not having received the promises, but having seen them afar off, and embraced them, and confest that they were strangers and sojourners on the earth. 14 For they who speak thus, shew plainly, that they seek their own country. 15 And truly if they had been mindful of that from which they came out, they might have had opportunity to return. 16 But they now desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for he hath prepared a city for them.

James 1:11-11

11 For the sun arose with a burning heat, and withered the grass, and the flower fell off, and the beauty of it's appearance perished: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways. 12 Happy is the man that endureth temptation: for when he hath been proved, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him.

1 Peter 1:11

11 Searching what, and what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them signified, when he testified before hand the sufferings of Christ and the glories that should follow. 12 To whom it was revealed, that not for themselves, but for us they ministered the things which have been now declared to you by them that have preached the gospel to you, with the Holy Ghost sent down from heaven: which things angels desire to look into. 13 Wherefore gird up the loins of your mind, be watchful and hope perfectly for the grace that is brought you by the revelation of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 3:21

21 The antitype whereof, baptism, now saveth us, (not the putting away the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ, 22 Who being gone into heaven, is on the right-hand of God, angels, and authorities, and powers being subjected to him.

1 Peter 4:2-3

2 (for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin) That ye may no longer live the rest of your time in the flesh, to the desire of men, but to the will of God. 3 For the time past of your life sufficeth to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, when ye walked in lasciviousness, evil desires, excess of wine, revellings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries.

1 Peter 4:3

2 Peter 1:1

1 Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us, thro' the righteousness of our God and Saviour Jesus Christ. 2 Grace and peace be multiplied unto you, thro' the knowledge of God, and of Jesus, our Lord; 3 As his divine power hath given us all things that pertain to life and godliness, thro' the knowledge of him that hath called us by glory and virtue, 4 By which he hath given us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these, having escaped the corruption which is in the world thro' desire, ye may become partakers of the divine nature:

2 Peter 1:4-10

4 By which he hath given us exceeding great and precious promises, that by these, having escaped the corruption which is in the world thro' desire, ye may become partakers of the divine nature: 5 For this very reason giving all diligence, add to your faith courage, 6 and to courage knowledge, And to knowledge temperance, and to temperance patience, 7 and to patience godliness, And to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love.

2 Peter 1:7

7 and to patience godliness, And to godliness brotherly kindness, and to brotherly kindness love. 8 For these being in you and abounding, make you neither slothful nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. 9 But he that wanteth these is blind, not able to see afar off, having forgotten the purification from his old sins. 10 Wherefore the rather, brethren, be diligent to make your calling and election firm; for if ye do these things, ye shall never fall.

2 Peter 1:19-21

19 And we have the word of prophecy more confirmed, to which ye do well that ye take heed, as to a lamp that shone in a dark place, till the day should dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts:

2 Peter 1:19

19 And we have the word of prophecy more confirmed, to which ye do well that ye take heed, as to a lamp that shone in a dark place, till the day should dawn, and the day-star arise in your hearts: 20 Knowing this before that no scripture prophecy is of any private interpretation. 21 For prophecy never came by the will of man, but the holy men of God spake being moved by the Holy Ghost.

2 Peter 1:21

21 For prophecy never came by the will of man, but the holy men of God spake being moved by the Holy Ghost.

2 Peter 3:10-12

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, the elements shall melt with fervent heat, and the earth, and the works that are therein, shall be burnt up. 11 Seeing then all these things are dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness,

2 Peter 3:11-14

11 Seeing then all these things are dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12 Looking for and hastning the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

2 Peter 3:12-14

12 Looking for and hastning the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13 Nevertheless we look for new heavens and a new earth, according to his promise, wherein dwelleth righteousness. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing ye look for these things, labour to be found of him in peace, without spot and blameless.

1 John 1:1

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have beheld, and our hands have handled of the word of life: 2 For the life was manifested, and we have seen, and testify and declare to you the eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested to us: 3 That which we have seen and heard declare we to you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ:

1 John 3:14-19

14 We know, that we are passed from death to life, because we love the brethren: he that loveth not his brother abideth in death. 15 Whosoever hateth his brother is a murtherer, and ye know that no murtherer hath eternal life abiding in him. 16 Hereby perceive we the love of God, because he laid down his life for us: and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. 17 But whoso hath this world's good, and seeth his brother have need, and shutteth up his bowels of compassion from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? 18 My beloved children, let us love not in word, neither in tongue, but in deed and in truth. 19 And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before him.

12 No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God abideth in us, and his love is perfected in us.

1 John 4:19-20

1 John 4:20-5:2

20 If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar; for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God, whom he hath not seen?
