¹ The elders that are among you I exhort, who am a fellow-elder, and a witness of the sufferings of Christ, and likewise a partaker of the glory which shall be revealed, ² Feed the flock of God which is among you, overseeing it not by constraint, but willingly, not for filthy gain, but of a ready mind, ³ Neither as lording over the heritage, but being examples to the flock. ⁴ And when the chief shepherd shall appear, ye shall receive the crown of glory that fadeth not away. ⁵ In like manner, ye younger, submit yourselves to the elder, and be ye all subject to each other. Be ye cloathed with humility; for God resisteth the proud, and giveth grace to the humble. ⁶ Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you. ⁷ Watch: be vigilant: ⁸ for your adversary the devil, walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour: ⁹ Whom resist, stedfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world. ¹⁰ Now the God of all grace, who hath called us by Christ Jesus to his eternal glory, after ye have suffered a while, himself shall perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you. ¹¹ To him be the glory and the might for ever and ever. Amen. ¹² By Silvanus, a faithful brother, as I suppose, I have written briefly to you, exhorting and adding my testimony, that this is the true grace of God wherein ye stand, ¹³ The church that is at Babylon, elected together with you, saluteth you, and Mark my son. ¹⁴ Salute ye one another with a kiss of charity. Peace be with you all that are in Christ Jesus.

¹ Then was Jesus led up by the Spirit into the wilderness, to be tempted by the devil.

¹¹ Then the devil leaveth him, and behold angels came and waited upon him.

²⁵ Ye cannot serve God and Mammon. Therefore I say unto you, Take not thought for your life, what ye shall eat, nor for the body, what ye shall put on. Is not the life more than meat, and the body than raiment? ²⁶ Behold the birds of the air: they sow not, neither do they reap, nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feedeth them.

³³ But seek ye first the kingdom of God and his righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. ³⁴ Take not therefore thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for itself: sufficient for the day is the evil thereof.

³⁹ The enemy that sowed them is the devil: the harvest is the end of the world; the reapers are the angels.

²⁵ But Jesus calling them to him said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles lord it over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. ²⁶ It shall not be so among you; but whosoever desireth to be great among you, let him be your minister; And whosoever desireth to be chief among you, let him be your servant:

⁸ But be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your teacher, and all ye are brethren. ⁹ And call no man your father on earth; for one is your Father, who is in heaven. ¹⁰ Neither be ye called Masters; for one is your Master, even Christ.

¹² Whosoever shall exalt himself, shall be humbled, and he that shall humble himself, shall be exalted.

⁴² Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord cometh.

⁴⁸ But if that evil servant say in his heart, My Lord delayeth his coming: ⁴⁹ And shall begin to smite his fellow-servants, and to eat and drink with the drunken: ⁵⁰ The Lord of that servant shall come in a day that he expecteth him not, and in an hour that he is not aware of,

³¹ When the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory. ³² And all nations shall be gathered before him, and he shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd separateth the sheep from the goats. ³³ And he will set the sheep on his right-hand, and the goats on the left. ³⁴ Then shall the king say to them on his right-hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you, from the foundation of the world. ³⁵ For I was hungry, and ye gave me meat; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink: ³⁶ I was a stranger, and ye took me in; Naked, and ye clothed me: I was sick, and ye visited me; I was in prison, and ye came to me. ³⁷ Then shall the righteous answer him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee hungry, and fed thee? Or thirsty, and gave thee drink? ³⁸ When saw we thee a stranger, and took thee in? Or naked, and clothed thee? ³⁹ Or when saw we thee sick or in prison, and came to thee? ⁴⁰ And the king shall answer and say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye did it to me. ⁴¹ Then shall he say also to them on his left-hand, Depart from me, ye cursed into the everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels.

³⁸ But he was asleep on the pillow, in the stern of the boat. And they awake him and say to him, Master, carest thou not that we perish?

³ And the devil said to him, If thou be the Son of God, command this stone that it be made bread. ⁴ And Jesus answered him, saying, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word of God. ⁵ And the devil taking him up into an high mountain, shewed him all the kingdoms of the world in a moment. ⁶ And the devil said to him, All this power will I give thee, and the glory of them; for it is delivered to me, and I give it to whomsoever I will. ⁷ If thou therefore wilt worship me, all shall be thine. ⁸ And Jesus answering said to him, Get thee hence, Satan; for it is written, Thou shalt worship the Lord thy God, and him only shalt thou serve. ⁹ And he brought him to Jerusalem, and set him on the battlement of the temple, and said, If thou be the son of God, cast thyself down from hence: ¹⁰ For it is written, He shall charge his angels concerning thee, to keep thee: And in their hands they shall bear thee up, ¹¹ lest at any time thou dash thy foot against a stone. ¹² And Jesus answering said to him, It is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

¹⁷ And sending to Ephesus from Miletus, he called thither the elders of the church.

²⁴ But none of these things move me; nor do I count my life precious to myself, so I may finish my course with joy, and the ministry which I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify the gospel of the grace of God.

²⁶ Wherefore I take you to record this day, that I am pure from the blood of all men: ²⁷ For I have not shunned to declare unto you all the counsel of God. ²⁸ Take heed therefore to yourselves and to the whole flock, over which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

¹⁰ In brotherly love be full of tender affection toward each other, in honour preferring one another:

¹¹ And do this, knowing the season, that it is high time now to awake out of sleep; for salvation is nearer to us now, then when we first believed. ¹² The night is far spent; the day is at hand, let us therefore put off the works of darkness, and put on the armour of light. ¹³ Let us walk decently, as in the day; not in banqueting and drunken entertainments, not in uncleannesses and wantonness, not in strife and envy. ¹⁴ But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, to fulfil the desires thereof.

¹⁷ Brethren, be ye followers together of me, and mark them who walk so as ye have us for an example.

⁶ Be careful for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God:

⁹ Which also ye have learned and received, and heard and seen in me; these do: and the God of peace shall be with you.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ strengthening me.

⁷ As ye likewise learned of Epaphras our beloved fellow-servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ for you:

²² he hath now reconciled, By the body of his flesh, through death, to present you holy, and spotless, and unreproveable in his sight: ²³ If ye continue in the faith, grounded and settled, and are not removed from the hope of the gospel which ye have heard, which is preached to every creature that is under heaven, whereof I Paul am made a minister.

⁵ For though I am absent from you in the flesh, yet I am present with you in spirit, rejoicing to behold your order, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ.

⁷ Rooted and built up in him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

³ For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. ⁴ When Christ, our life shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

¹⁵ And for this end he is the Mediator of a new covenant, that by means of death for the redemption of the transgressions that were under the first covenant, they who are called might receive the promise of the eternal inheritance.

¹¹ But when they bring you to the synagogues and to magistrates and powers, ¹² take no thought how or what ye shall answer or what ye shall say. For the Holy Ghost shall teach you in that hour, what ye ought to say.

²² And he said to his disciples, Therefore I say to you, Take no thought for your life what ye shall eat, neither for the body what ye shall put on.

³⁰ For the nations of the world seek all these things; and your Father knoweth that ye need these things. ³¹ But seek ye the kingdom of God, and all these things shall be added to you. ³² Fear not, little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the kingdom.

⁴⁵ But if that servant say in his heart, My Lord delayeth his coming, and shall begin to beat the men servants and maidens, and to eat, and drink, and be drunken: ⁴⁶ The Lord of that servant will come in a day when he expecteth not, and at an hour when he knoweth not, and will cut him in sunder, and appoint him his portion with the unfaithful.

¹¹ humbleth himself shall be exalted.

¹⁴ I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other; for every one that exalteth himself shall be humbled, and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

³⁴ But take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overloaded with gluttony, and drunkenness, and the cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.

³⁶ Watch ye therefore and pray always, that ye may be counted worthy to escape all these things which will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

²⁴ There was also a contention among them, Which of them was greatest. ²⁵ And he said to them, The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and they that exercise authority upon them have the title of benefactors. ²⁶ But ye shall not be so: but he that is greatest among you, let him be as the younger, and he that is chief as he that serveth. ²⁷ For which is greater, he that sitteth at table, or he that serveth? Is not he that sitteth at table? But I am in the midst of you as he that serveth.

³¹ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he might sift you as wheat. ³² But I have prayed for thee that thy faith fail not: and when thou art returned, strengthen thy brethren.

⁴⁸ And ye are witnesses of these things. And behold I send the promise of my Father upon you:

⁴⁴ Ye are of your father the devil, and your will is, to do the desires of your father. He was a murderer from the beginning, and abode not in the truth; for there is no truth in him. When he speaketh a lie, he speaketh of his own; for he is a liar, and the father of it.

¹¹ I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd layeth down his life for the sheep.

¹³ The hireling fleeth, because he is an hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

²⁶ But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me. ²⁷ Ye also testify, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

³³ I have spoken these things to you, that ye may have peace in me. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but take courage: I have overcome the world.

¹⁹ The same day, the first day of the week, at evening, the doors being shut, where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, Peace be unto you.

²⁶ And eight days after, his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace be unto you.

¹⁵ When they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me more than these do? He saith to him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. ¹⁶ He saith to him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again, the second time, Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me? ¹⁷ He saith to him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Feed my sheep. He saith to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith to him, Feed my sheep.

²¹ Peter seeing him, saith to Jesus, Lord, what shall this man do?

⁸ But ye shall receive power, the Holy Ghost being come upon you, and shall be witnesses to me, both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.

²² Beginning from the baptism of John, till the day that he was taken up from us, one must be ordained, to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

³² This Jesus God hath raised up, whereof all we are witnesses.

¹⁵ But ye killed the Prince of life, whom God hath raised from the dead, whereof we are witnesses.

³⁰ The God of our fathers hath raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, hanging him on a tree. ³¹ Him hath God exalted, a Prince and a Saviour with his right-hand, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. ³² And we are witnesses of these things, and also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

³⁹ And we are witnesses of all things which he did, both in the land of the Jews and in Jerusalem; whom yet they slew and hanged on a tree. ⁴⁰ Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; ⁴¹ (Not to all the people, but to witnesses, chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him) after he rose from the dead.

²³ Who coming and seeing the grace of God, was glad, and exhorted them all, to cleave unto the Lord with full purpose of heart.

¹² And having considered, he went to the house of Mary, the mother of John surnamed Mark, where many were gathered together praying.

²⁵ And Barnabas and Saul, having fulfilled their service, returned from Jerusalem, taking with them John, surnamed Mark.

²² Then it seemed good to the apostles and elders with the whole church, to send chosen men from among them to Antioch with Paul and Barnabas, Judas, surnamed Barsabas, and Silas, chief men among the brethren, ²³ Writing thus by their hand, The apostles, and the elders, and the brethren salute the brethren who are of the Gentiles, in Antioch, and Syria, and Cilicia.

⁷ who are beloved of God, called and holy, Grace to you, and peace from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁵ Therefore, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you also who are at Rome.

² By whom also we have been introduced through faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

⁶ For when we were yet without strength, in due time, Christ died for the ungodly.

²⁰ But the law came in between, that the offence might abound: yet where sin abounded, grace did much more abound: ²¹ That as sin had reigned through death, so grace also might reign through righteousness to eternal life, by Jesus Christ our Lord.

¹ Therefore there is now no condemnation to those in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

¹⁷ And if children, then heirs, heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ: if we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him. ¹⁸ For I reckon that the sufferings of the present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

²⁸ And we know, that all things work together for good, to them that love God, to them that are called according to his purpose. ²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also predestinated, conformable to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many brethren. ³⁰ And whom he predestinated, them he also called; and whom he called, them he also justified; and whom he justified, them he also glorified.

¹¹ our father Isaac, The children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil (that the purpose of God according to election might stand not of works, but of him that called,) It was said to her, The elder shall serve the younger.

²⁴ Even us whom he hath called, not only of the Jews, but also of the Gentiles:

⁵ Now the God of patience and consolation give you to think the same thing, according to Christ Jesus,

¹³ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, by the power of the Holy Ghost.

²⁵ according to my gospel and the preaching of Jesus Christ, (according to the revelation of the mystery kept secret since the world began,

⁹ God is faithful, by whom ye were called into the fellowship of his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.

³⁰ and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

⁵ and another, I am of Apollos, are ye not carnal? Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whom ye believed, even as the Lord gave to every man?

⁹ For we are fellow-labourers of God: ye are God's husbandry, ye are God's building.

⁷ Who ever warreth at his own charge? Who planteth a vineyard, and doth not eat of its fruit? Or who feedeth a flock, and doth not eat of the milk of the flock?

¹⁶ For if I preach the gospel, I have nothing to glory of; for a necessity lieth upon me, and wo is me, if I preach not the gospel. ¹⁷ If indeed I do this willingly, I have a reward; but if unwillingly, yet a dispensation is intrusted to me.

²⁵ And every one that contendeth, is temperate in all things: and they indeed, to obtain a corruptible crown, but we an incorruptible.

¹³ There hath no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above your ability, but will with the temptation make also a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

²² Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

¹¹ Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in the Lord.

¹ Moreover, brethren, I declare to you the gospel which I preached to you, which also ye received, and wherein ye stand:

²⁰ All the brethren salute you. Salute one another with an holy kiss.

¹⁹ For Jesus Christ the Son of God, who was preached among you by us, by me, and Silvanus, and Timotheus was not yea and nay; but was yea in him.

²⁴ Not that we have dominion over your faith, but are helpers of your joy; for by faith ye have stood.

⁵ For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.

¹⁷ For our light affliction, which is but for a moment, worketh out for us a far more exceeding and eternal weight of glory:

¹ For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle be dissolved, we have a building from God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

⁸ We behave undauntedly, I say, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and present with the Lord.

¹⁷ Therefore if any one be in Christ, there is a new creation: the old things are passed way; behold, all things are become new:

¹⁴ Forgive me this wrong. Behold the third time I am ready to come to you: yet I will not be burdensom to you; for I seek not yours, but you; for the children ought not to lay up treasure for the parents, but the parents for the children. ¹⁵ And I will most gladly spend, and be spent for your souls, though the more abundantly I love you, the less I am loved.

¹¹ Finally, brethren, farewel: be perfect, be of good comfort, be of one mind, live in peace, and the God of love and peace shall be with you. ¹² Salute one another with an holy kiss.

⁸ But if we or an angel from heaven preach to you another gospel than we have preached to you, let him be accursed: ⁹ As we have said before, so I say now again, if any preach to you another gospel than that ye received, let him be accursed.

³ as I wrote before in few words,

²⁷ Neither give place to the devil.

¹⁹ For I know that this shall turn to my salvation, through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ:

²¹ For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain. ²² But if I am to live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour, and what I should chuse, I know not. ²³ For I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart and to be with Christ, for it is far better.

³ Do nothing through strife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind, esteem each the others better than themselves.

¹² Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering:

⁷ All my concerns will Tychicus declare to you, a beloved brother, and a faithful minister and fellow-servant in the Lord:

⁹ With Onesimus, a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you: they will make known to you all things that are done here.

⁵ For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also with power, and with the Holy Ghost, and with much assurance; as ye know what manner of men we were among you, for your sake. ⁶ And ye became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word in much affliction, with joy of the Holy Ghost.

¹² as a father his own children, And charged you to walk worthy of God, who hath called you to his kingdom and glory.

⁶ Therefore let us not sleep as the others, but let us awake and keep awake. ⁷ For they that sleep, sleep in the night, and they that are drunken are drunken in the night. ⁸ But let us who are of the day keep awake, having put on the breast-plate of faith and love, and for an helmet the hope of salvation.

⁷ And to you that are afflicted rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven with his mighty angels, ⁸ In flaming fire, taking vengeance on them who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ. ⁹ Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power, ¹⁰ When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all that believe (now that our testimony was believed among you) in that day.

¹⁴ To which he hath called you by our gospel, to the obtaining of the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁷ Comfort your hearts and stablish you in every good word and work.

³ But the Lord is faithful, who will stablish and guard you from the evil one.

⁹ Not because we have not power; but that we might make ourselves an example to you, that ye might imitate us.
