¹¹ But the younger widows refuse; for when they are waxed wanton against Christ, they want to marry;

³⁹ The wife is bound as long as her husband liveth; but if her husband be dead, she is at liberty to marry whom she will; only in the Lord. ⁴⁰ But she is happier, if she continue as she is, in my judgment; and I think that I also have the Spirit of God.

³ Forbidding to marry, and commanding to abstain from meats, which God hath created to be received with thanksgiving by them that believe and know the truth.

⁹ Let not a widow be chosen under threescore years old,

¹⁴ I counsel therefore the younger women to marry, bear children, guide the family, give no occasion of reproach to the adversary.

⁵ Ye have lived delicately on earth, and been wanton; ye have cherished your hearts, as in a day of sacrifice.

¹⁸ For by speaking swelling words of vanity, they allure thro' the desire of the flesh, thro' wantonness, those that were clean escaped from them that live in error.

⁷ As much as she hath glorified herself and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: because she saith in her heart, I sit as a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow.
