¹⁵ We also are men of like passions with you, and preach to you, to turn from these vanities unto the living God, who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all things that are therein: Who, in times past, suffered all nations to walk in their own ways:

¹⁶ And Simon Peter answering said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

²⁶ For as the Father hath life in himself, so hath he given to the Son also to have life in himself,

¹⁸ He that speaketh of himself, seeketh his own glory; but he that seekth the glory of him that sent him, the same is true, and there is no unrighteousness in him.

¹² And Peter seeing it, answered the people, Ye men of Israel, why marvel ye at this? Or, why do ye fix your eyes on us, as if by our own power or piety, we had made this man to walk? ¹³ The God of Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, the God of our fathers, hath glorified his son Jesus, whom ye delivered up, and renounced him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined to release him.

²⁴ And when they heard it, they lifted up their voice to God with one accord, and said, Lord, thou art the God who madest heaven and earth, and the sea, and all that in them is:

²⁶ And the next day, he shewed himself to them, as they were quarrelling, and would have persuaded them to peace, saying, Sirs, ye are brethren: why do ye wrong one another?

²⁶ But Peter raised him up saying, Arise: I myself also am a man.

²² And the people shouted, It is the voice of God, and not of a man. ²³ And immediately an angel of the Lord smote him, because he gave not God the glory; and being eaten by worms, he expired.

³² And we declare to you glad tidings, that the promise which was made to the fathers,

⁷ And preached the gospel there.

²¹ And having preached the gospel to that city, and made many disciples, they returned to Lystra, and Iconium, and Antioch,

³⁰ And having brought them out he said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved?

¹⁶ Now, while Paul was waiting for them at Athens, his spirit was provoked within him, seeing the city wholly given to idolatry. ¹⁷ He therefore discoursed in the synagogue to the Jews and the devout persons, and in the market-place daily to those whom he met with. ¹⁸ Then some of the Epicurean and Stoic philosophers incountered him: and some said, What would this babler say? Others, he seemeth to be a proclaimer of strange gods; because he preached to them Jesus, and the resurrection.

²⁴ God who made the world and all things therein, being the Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands. ²⁵ Neither is he served by men's hands, as though he needed any thing, he himself giving to all life and breath, and all things. ²⁶ And he hath made of one the whole nation of men, to dwell on all the face of the earth, having determined the times before appointed, and the bounds of their habitation: ²⁷ That they might seek God, if haply they might feel after him and find him, though he be not far from every one of us. ²⁸ For in him we live and move, and have our being; as certain likewise of your own poets have said, For we are also his offspring. ²⁹ Being then the offspring of God, we ought not to think the Godhead is like gold or silver, or stone, graven by art and contrivance of man. ³⁰ The times of ignorance indeed God overlooked; but he now commandeth all men every where to repent.

¹⁷ and of those in which I will appear to thee, Delivering thee from the people, ¹⁸ and the Gentiles, to whom I now send thee, To open their eyes, that they may turn from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan to God; that they may receive through faith which is in me, forgiveness of sins, and an inheritance among them that are sanctified. ¹⁹ From that time, O king Agrippa, I was not disobedient to the heavenly vision, ²⁰ But first to them at Damascus and at Jerusalem, and through all the country of Judea, and then to the Gentiles I declare, that they should repent and turn to God, doing works worthy of repentance.

¹⁰ Paul exhorted them, Saying to them, Sirs, I perceive that this voyage is like to be with injury and much damage, not only to the lading and the ship, but also to our lives.

²¹ But after long abstinence, Paul standing in the midst of them, said, Sirs, ye should have hearkened to me, and not have loosed from Crete, and so have avoided this injury and loss.

²⁵ Wherefore, Sirs, take courage: for I trust in God, that it shall be even as it hath been spoken to me.

²⁰ For those things of him which are invisible, both his eternal power and Godhead, are clearly seen from the creation of the world, being understood by the things which are made, so that they are without excuse: ²¹ Because knowing God, they did not glorify him as God, neither were thankful, but became vain in their reasonings, and their foolish heart was darkened. ²² Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools, ²³ And changed the glory of the incorruptible God into an image in the likeness of corruptible man, and of birds, and of four-footed creatures and reptiles.

⁴ we know that an idol is nothing in the world, and that there is no God but one.

¹⁷ This therefore I say and testify in the Lord, that ye no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles, in the vanity of your mind:

⁹ For they themselves declare concerning us, what manner of entrance to you we had, and how ye turned from idols to God,

¹⁵ But if I tarry, that thou mayst know how to behave in the house of God, which is the church of the living God.

¹² Take heed, brethren, left there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God:

¹⁷ Elijah was a man of like passions with us; and he prayed earnestly that it might not rain: and it rained not on the land for three years and six months.

⁷ and tribe, and tongue, and people, Saying with a loud voice, Fear God and give glory to him, for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made the heaven, and the earth, and the sea, and fountains of water.

¹⁰ And I fell before his feet to worship him: but he saith to me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus. Worship God. The testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

¹⁹ And I saw the wild beast and the kings of the earth and their armies gathered together, to make war with him that sat on the horse and with his army.

⁹ But he saith to me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them who keep the sayings of this book; worship God.
