¹ The first day of the week, cometh Mary Magdalene early, while it was yet dark, to the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre. ² Then she runneth and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him. ³ Then Peter went out and the other disciple, and ran toward the sepulchre. ⁴ They both ran together: but the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the sepulchre. ⁵ And stooping down, he saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in. ⁶ Then cometh Simon Peter following him, and went into the sepulchre, and seeth the linen clothes lie, And the napkin that was about his head, ⁷ not lying with the linen clothes, but folded up in a place by itself. ⁸ Then the other disciple, who came first to the sepulchre, went in; and he saw and believed. ⁹ For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead. ¹⁰ Then the disciples went home again. ¹¹ But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping. And as she wept, ¹² she stooped down into the sepulchre, And seeth two angels in white sitting, where the body of Jesus had laid, one at the head, and one at the feet. ¹³ And they said to her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith to them, They have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him. ¹⁴ And having said this, she turned herself back, and seeth Jesus standing, but knew not that it was Jesus. ¹⁵ Jesus saith to her, Woman, why weepest thou? Whom seekest thou? She supposing him to be the gardiner, saith to him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. ¹⁶ Jesus saith to her, Mary! ¹⁷ She turning, saith to him, Rabboni; that is, Master. Jesus saith to her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brethren and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God. ¹⁸ Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples, that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things to her. ¹⁹ The same day, the first day of the week, at evening, the doors being shut, where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, Peace be unto you. ²⁰ And having said this, he shewed them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord. ²¹ Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you. As the Father hath sent me, even so send I you. ²² And having said this, he breathed on them, and saith to them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost. ²³ Whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted to them; and whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. ²⁴ But Thomas called Didymus, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. ²⁵ The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I see the print of the nails in his hands, and put my finger into the prints of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe. ²⁶ And eight days after, his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace be unto you. ²⁷ Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands, and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side, and be not faithless, but believing. ²⁸ And Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God. ²⁹ Jesus saith to him, Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: happy are they that have not seen, and yet have believed. ³⁰ And Jesus wrought many other miracles also, in the presence of his disciples, which are not written in this book. ³¹ But these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life thro' his name.

⁶⁰ which he had hewn out in the rock, and having rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, departed.

⁶⁴ Command therefore that the sepulchre be secured till the third day, lest his disciples coming steal him away, and say to the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last imposture shall be worse than the first.

⁴⁶ And having bought fine linen, he took him down, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre, which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone to the door of the sepulchre.

¹ And when the sabbath was over, Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James and Salome, had bought spices, that they might come and embalm him. ² And very early in the morning, the first day of the week, they come to the sepulchre, at the rising of the sun. ³ And they said one to another, Who shall roll us away the stone from the door of the sepulchre? ⁴ (For it was very great:) And looking up, they saw that the stone was rolled away. ⁵ And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man, sitting on the right-side, clothed in a white robe; and they were affrighted.

⁹ Now when Jesus was risen early, the first day of the week, he appeared first to Mary Magdalene, out of whom he had cast seven devils.

¹ And on the first day of the week, very early in the morning, they came to the sepulchre, bringing the spices, which they had prepared and certain others with them. ² And they found the stone rolled away from the sepulchre, And entering, they found not the body of the Lord Jesus. ³ And while they were perplexed concerning it, ⁴ behold two men stood by them in shining garments. ⁵ And as they were afraid, and bowed down their face to the earth, they said to them, Why seek ye the living among the dead? ⁶ He is not here, but is risen. Remember how he spake to you being yet in Galilee, ⁷ Saying, The Son of man must be delivered into the hands of sinful men, and be crucified, and rise again the third day. ⁸ And they remembered his words, ⁹ And returning from the sepulchre, told all these things to the eleven and to all the rest. ¹⁰ It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles.

²⁵ Now there stood by the cross of Jesus, his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleopas, and Mary Magdalene.

¹⁸ Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples, that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things to her. ¹⁹ The same day, the first day of the week, at evening, the doors being shut, where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, Peace be unto you.

²⁶ And eight days after, his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them. Jesus cometh, the doors being shut, and stood in the midst and said, Peace be unto you.

⁷ And on the first day of the week, when we were met together to break bread, Paul being to depart on the morrow, preached to them, and continued his discourse till midnight.

² On the first day of the week, let every one of you lay by him in store according as he hath been prospered, that there may be no collections when I come.

¹⁰ I was in the Spirit on the Lord's day,

⁶³ Saying, Sir, we remember, that impostor said while he was yet alive, After three days I will rise again. ⁶⁴ Command therefore that the sepulchre be secured till the third day, lest his disciples coming steal him away, and say to the people, He is risen from the dead: so the last imposture shall be worse than the first.

²³ Now there was lying in the bosom of Jesus, one of the disciples whom Jesus loved.

²⁶ Jesus therefore seeing his mother, and the disciple standing by whom he loved, saith to his mother, Woman, behold thy son.

⁹ For as yet they knew not the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.

¹³ And they said to her, Woman, why weepest thou? She saith to them, They have taken away my Lord, and I know not where they have laid him.

¹⁵ Jesus saith to her, Woman, why weepest thou? Whom seekest thou? She supposing him to be the gardiner, saith to him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away.

⁷ Then the disciple whom Jesus loved saith to Peter, It is the Lord. Simon Peter hearing that it was the Lord, girt on his upper coat (for he was stript) and threw himself into the sea.

²⁰ Peter turning about, seeth the disciple whom Jesus loved following, who also leaned on his breast at supper, and said, Lord, who is he that betrayeth thee?

²⁴ This is the disciple, who testifieth of these things, and wrote these things; and we know that his testimony is true. And there are also many other things which Jesus did,

¹² But Peter rising, ran to the sepulchre; and stooping down, he seeth the linen clothes laid by themselves; and he went home, wondring at what was come to pass.

²⁴ Know ye not, that they who run in the race, all run, but one receiveth the prize? so run that ye may obtain.

¹² For if there be first a ready mind, a man is accepted, according to what he hath, not according to what he hath not.

⁴⁴ And he that had been dead came forth, bound hand and foot with graveclothes, and his face was wrapt about with a napkin. Jesus saith to them, Loose him, and let him go.

⁴⁰ So they took the body of Jesus, and wrapped it in linen clothes with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury.

¹¹ But Mary stood without at the sepulchre weeping. And as she wept,

¹⁵ He saith to them, But whom say ye that I am? ¹⁶ And Simon Peter answering said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

³¹ And the Lord said, Simon, Simon, behold Satan hath desired to have you, that he might sift you as wheat. ³² But I have prayed for thee that thy faith fail not: and when thou art returned, strengthen thy brethren.

⁶⁷ Then said Jesus to the twelve, Are ye also minded to go away? ⁶⁸ Then Simon Peter answered him, saying, Lord, to whom shall we go? ⁶⁹ Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we have believed and known, that thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

¹⁷ Then saith the maid, who kept the door, to Peter, Art not thou also one of this man's disciples?

²⁵ Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. They said to him, Art not thou also one of his disciples? He denied and said, I am not. ²⁶ One of the servants of the high priest (being kinsman to him whose ear Peter had cut off) saith, Did not I see thee in the garden with him? ²⁷ Peter denied again, and immediately the cock crew.

¹⁵ When they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me more than these do? He saith to him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. ¹⁶ He saith to him, Feed my lambs. He saith to him again, the second time, Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me? ¹⁷ He saith to him, Yea, Lord, thou knowest that I love thee. He saith to him, Feed my sheep. He saith to him the third time, Simon, son of Jonah, lovest thou me? Peter was grieved, because he said to him the third time, Lovest thou me? And he said to him, Lord, thou knowest all things; thou knowest that I love thee. Jesus saith to him, Feed my sheep.

⁵⁰ Jesus answered and said to him, Because I said to thee, I saw thee under the fig-tree, believest thou? Thou shalt see greater things than these.

⁴ They both ran together: but the other disciple outran Peter, and came first to the sepulchre.

²⁵ The other disciples therefore said to him, We have seen the Lord. But he said to them, Unless I see the print of the nails in his hands, and put my finger into the prints of the nails, and thrust my hand into his side, I will not believe.

²⁹ Jesus saith to him, Because thou hast seen me, thou hast believed: happy are they that have not seen, and yet have believed.

²¹ From that time Jesus began to shew his disciples, That he must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders and chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and be raised again the third day. ²² Then Peter taking hold of him, rebuked him, saying, Favour thyself, Lord: this shall in no wise be unto thee.

²⁹ For in the resurrection,

³¹ And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected by the elders and the chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again. ³² And he spake that saying openly. ³³ And Peter taking hold of him, rebuked him. But he turning about, and looking on his disciples rebuked Peter, saying, Get thee behind me, Satan; for thou savourest not the things of God, but the things of men.

⁹ And as they came down from the mountain, he charged them to tell no man what things they had seen, till the Son of man were risen from the dead. ¹⁰ And they laid hold on that saying, questioning one with another, What meaneth, Till he were risen from the dead?

³¹ For he taught his disciples and said to them, The Son of man is delivered into the hands of men; and they will kill him, and after he hath been killed, he shall rise the third day. ³² But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

⁴⁵ But they understood not this saying, and it was hid from them, so that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of this saying.

³³ and the third day he shall rise again. ³⁴ And they understood none of these things; and this saying was hid from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

²⁶ Ought not Christ to have suffered these things, and to enter into his glory?

⁴⁴ And he said to them, These are the words which I spake to you, being yet with you, that all things written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms concerning me, must be fulfilled. ⁴⁵ Then opened he their understanding, ⁴⁶ to understand the scriptures, And said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day:

²² and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

²⁵ For David speaketh concerning him, I have seen the Lord always before my face, for he is on my right-hand, that I may not be moved. ²⁶ Therefore my heart is glad, and my tongue exulteth; yea, and my flesh shall rest in hope. ²⁷ For thou wilt not leave my soul in Hades, neither wilt thou suffer thy holy one to see corruption. ²⁸ Thou hast made known to me the ways of life; thou wilt fill me with joy by thy countenance. ²⁹ Men and brethren, I may say to you freely of the patriarch David, that he is both dead and buried, and his sepulchre is among us to this day. ³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, That of the fruit of his loins one should sit on his throne, ³¹ He foreseeing this, spake of the resurrection of Christ, that his soul was not left in Hades, neither did his flesh see corruption. ³² This Jesus God hath raised up, whereof all we are witnesses.

²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all things that were written of him, taking him down from the tree, they laid him in a sepulchre. ³⁰ But God raised him from the dead. ³¹ And he was seen many days by them who came up with him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people. ³² And we declare to you glad tidings, that the promise which was made to the fathers, ³³ God hath fulfilled this to us their children, in raising up Jesus: as it is written also in the second Psalm, Thou art my son, this day have I begotten thee. ³⁴ And because he raised him up from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he spake thus, I will give you the sure mercies of David. ³⁵ Wherefore he saith also in another Psalm, Thou wilt not suffer thy Holy one to see corruption. ³⁶ Now David, having served the will of God in his generation, fell asleep, and was added to his fathers, and saw corruption. ³⁷ But he whom God raised, did not see corruption.

⁴ according to the scriptures, And that he was buried, and that he was raised the third day according to the scriptures: And that he was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve.

⁵³ Search and see, that out of Galilee ariseth no prophet. And every man went to his own house.

³² yea, is already come, that ye shall be scattered every one to his own, and shall leave me alone: and yet I am not alone; for the Father is with me.

⁵ And stooping down, he saw the linen clothes lying; yet went he not in.

² And was transfigured before them, and his face shone as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

² And behold, there had been a great earthquake, and an angel of the Lord descending from heaven, had come and rolled away the stone from the door and sat upon it. ³ His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow. ⁴ And for fear of him the guards trembled, and became as dead men. ⁵ But the angel answering said to the women, Fear not ye; for I know ye seek Jesus who was crucified.

⁵ And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man, sitting on the right-side, clothed in a white robe; and they were affrighted. ⁶ He saith to them, Be not affrighted: ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen: he is not here. Behold the place where they laid him.

²² Yea, and certain women of our company astonished us, who were early at the sepulchre, ²³ And not finding his body, they came, saying, That they had seen also a vision of angels, who say, he is alive.

¹⁰ And while they were stedfastly looking up to heaven, as he went up,

⁴ Yet thou hast a few names in Sardis, who have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: they are worthy.

¹⁴ And he said to me, These are they who come out of great affliction, and they have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

¹⁷ And he said to them, What discourses are these that ye have one with another, and are sad?

⁴ Jesus saith to her, Woman, what is it to me and thee?

²⁷ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. ²⁸ Ye heard me say to you, I go, and come again to you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoyced, because I said, I go to the Father; for my Father is greater than me.

⁶ But because I have told you this, sorrow hath filled your heart. ⁷ But I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go: for if I go not, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send him to you.

²⁰ Verily, verily I say unto you, Ye will weep and lament; but the world will rejoice: ye will be sorrowful; but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ²¹ A woman when she is in travel, hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she is delivered of the child, she no longer remembreth the anguish, for joy that a man is born into the world. ²² And ye now therefore have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one taketh from you.

² Then she runneth and cometh to Simon Peter, and to the other disciple whom Jesus loved, and saith to them, They have taken away the Lord out of the sepulchre, and we know not where they have laid him.

¹³ But Paul answered, What mean ye, weeping and breaking my heart? I am ready not only to be bound, but also to die at Jerusalem, for the name of the Lord Jesus.

⁹ And behold Jesus met them and said, Hail. And they came, and took hold of his feet and worshiped him.

¹² After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they were walking, going into the country.

³⁰ But he passing thro' the midst of them, went away.

¹⁶ But their eyes were holden, so that they did not know him.

³¹ And their eyes were opened, and they knew him, and he vanished out of their sight.

⁵⁹ Then took they up stones to cast at him; but Jesus concealed himself, and went out of the temple, going thro' the midst of them, and so passed on.

⁴ When the morning was come, Jesus stood on the shore; but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.

³⁴ Ye brood of vipers, how can ye, being evil, speak good things? For out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh.

⁵ But the angel answering said to the women, Fear not ye; for I know ye seek Jesus who was crucified.

⁶ He saith to them, Be not affrighted: ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, who was crucified. He is risen: he is not here. Behold the place where they laid him.

⁵ And as they were afraid, and bowed down their face to the earth, they said to them, Why seek ye the living among the dead?

³⁸ saith to them, What seek ye? They said to him, Rabbi, (that is, being interpreted, Master) where dwellest thou?

⁴ Then Jesus knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth and said to them, Whom seek ye?

⁷ He asked them again, Whom seek ye? And they said, Jesus of Nazareth.

²⁷ But Jesus immediately spake to them, saying, Take courage: it is I: be not afraid.

⁷ And salutations in the markets, and to be called by men, Rabbi, Rabbi. ⁸ But be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your teacher, and all ye are brethren. ⁹ And call no man your father on earth; for one is your Father, who is in heaven. ¹⁰ Neither be ye called Masters; for one is your Master, even Christ.

⁴¹ Bid her therefore help me. But Jesus answering said to her, Martha, Martha! Thou art careful and hurried about many things:

⁴⁹ Nathagael answered and said to him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the King of Israel.

² The same came to him by night, and said to him, Rabbi, we know, that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles which thou dost, except God be with him.

² Now there is in Jerusalem, by the sheep-gate, a bath, which is called in the Hebrew tongue, Bethesda, having five porticos.

²⁵ And having found him on the other side of the sea, they said to him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?

³ To him the door-keeper openeth, and the sheep hear his voice, and he calleth his own sheep by name, and leadeth them out.

²⁸ Having said this, she went and privately called Mary her sister, saying, The master is come, and calleth for thee.

¹³ Ye call me Master and Lord; and ye say well; for so I am.

²⁸ And Thomas answered and said to him, My Lord and my God.

⁴ And falling to the earth, he heard a voice saying to him, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

³ He saw plainly in a vision, about the ninth hour of the day, an angel of the Lord coming in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius.

⁵⁰ For whosoever shall do the will of my Father who is in heaven, the same is my brother and sister and mother.

⁴⁰ And the king shall answer and say to them, Verily I say to you, Inasmuch as ye did it to one of the least of these my brethren, ye did it to me.

⁷ And go quickly and tell the disciples, that he is risen from the dead. And behold, he goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see him.

⁹ And behold Jesus met them and said, Hail. And they came, and took hold of his feet and worshiped him. ¹⁰ Then saith Jesus to them, Fear not. Go tell my brethren to go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

¹⁹ So then the Lord, after he had spoken to them, was received up into heaven, and sat on the right-hand of God.

⁴ Carry not purse or scrip or shoes, and salute no man by the way.

⁴⁹ but tarry in the city Jerusalem, till ye be clothed with power from on high. ⁵⁰ And he led them out as far as Bethany; and lifting up his hands, he blessed them. ⁵¹ And while he was blessing them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven.

¹² But as many as received him, to them gave he privilege to become the sons of God, to them that believe in his name: ¹³ Who were born, not of blood, nor by the will of the flesh, nor by the will of man, but of God.

³³ Then said Jesus to them, Yet a little time I am with you, and then I go to him that sent me.

¹ Now before the feast of the passover, Jesus knowing his hour was come to pass out of this world to the Father, having loved his own who were in the world, loved them to the end.

³ to betray him) Jesus knowing the Father had given all things into his hands, and that he was come forth from God, and going to God,

² In my Father's house are many mansions; if not, I would have told you.

⁶ Jesus saith, I am the way; and the truth, and the life; no man cometh to the Father, but by me.

²⁸ Ye heard me say to you, I go, and come again to you. If ye loved me, ye would have rejoyced, because I said, I go to the Father; for my Father is greater than me.

²⁸ I came forth from the Father, and am come into the world: again I leave the world, and go to the Father.

⁵ And now, Father, glorify thou me with thyself, with the glory which I had with thee, before the world was.

¹¹ And I am no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I come to thee. Holy Father, keep thro' thy name them whom thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

²⁵ Righteous Father, tho' the world hath not known thee, yet I have known thee, and these have known that thou hast sent me.

²⁷ Then saith he to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands, and reach hither thy hand, and thrust it into my side, and be not faithless, but believing.

¹⁴ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the Sons of God. ¹⁵ For ye have not received the Spirit of bondage again unto fear, but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. ¹⁶ The same Spirit beareth witness with our spirits, that we are the children of God. ¹⁷ And if children, then heirs, heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ: if we suffer with him, that we may also be glorified with him.

²⁹ For whom he foreknew, he also predestinated, conformable to the image of his Son, that he might be the first-born among many brethren.

¹⁸ And will be to you a Father, and ye shall be to me sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty.

²⁶ For ye are all sons of God by faith in Jesus Christ.

⁶ And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying Abba, Father. ⁷ Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.

¹⁷ That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, through the knowledge of him. ¹⁸ The eyes of your understanding being inlightened, that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, and what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, ¹⁹ And what the exceeding greatness of his power toward us who believe, according to the energy of his mighty power, ²⁰ Which he wrought in Christ, raising him from the dead; and he hath made him sit at his own right-hand in heavenly places, ²¹ Far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come. ²² And he hath put all things under his feet, and hath given him to be head over all things to the church, ²³ Which is his body; who is the fulness of him that filleth all in all.

⁸ Wherefore he saith, Having ascended on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts to men. ⁹ (Now that he ascended, what is it, but that he also descended first to the lower parts of the earth? ¹⁰ He that descended is the same that ascended also, far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)

¹¹ For both he that sanctifieth, and all they that are sanctified, are of one; for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren, Saying, I will declare thy name to my brethren; ¹² in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee. ¹³ And again, I will put my trust in him: And again, Behold I and the children whom God hath given me.

¹⁰ For this is the covenant which I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord: I will put my laws in their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.

¹⁶ But they now desire a better country, that is, an heavenly: therefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for he hath prepared a city for them.

³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who, according to his abundant mercy, hath begotten us again to a living hope, by the resurrection of Christ from the dead,

² Beloved, now are we the sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: but we know, when he shall appear, we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is.

³ And I heard a loud voice out of heaven saying, Behold the tabernacle of God with men, and he will dwell with them; and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them and be their God.

⁷ He that overcometh shall inherit these things; and I will be to him a God, and he shall be to me a son.

¹⁰ Then saith Jesus to them, Fear not. Go tell my brethren to go into Galilee, and there shall they see me.

¹⁰ She went and told them that had been with him, as they mourned and wept. ¹¹ But they, hearing that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not. ¹² After that he appeared in another form unto two of them, as they were walking, going into the country. ¹³ And they went and told it to the rest, neither believed they them.

¹⁰ It was Mary Magdalene, and Joanna, and Mary the mother of James, and the other women with them, who told these things to the apostles.

¹ The first day of the week, cometh Mary Magdalene early, while it was yet dark, to the sepulchre, and seeth the stone taken away from the sepulchre.

¹³ but if it be not worthy, your peace shall return to you.

²⁰ For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

¹⁴ Afterwards he appeared to the eleven, sitting at meat, and upbraided them with their unbelief and hardness of heart, because they believed not them who had seen him after he was risen.

³⁶ And as they spake thus, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith to them, Peace be unto you. ³⁷ But being terrified and affrighted, they thought they saw a spirit. ³⁸ And he said to them, Why are ye troubled? and why do reasonings arise in your hearts? ³⁹ Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Handle me and see: for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as you see me have. ⁴⁰ And having spoken this, he shewed them his hands and his feet. ⁴¹ And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said to them, Have ye here any meat? ⁴² And they gave him a piece of a broiled fish and of an honeycomb. ⁴³ And he took it, and ate before them. ⁴⁴ And he said to them, These are the words which I spake to you, being yet with you, that all things written in the law of Moses, and the prophets, and the psalms concerning me, must be fulfilled. ⁴⁵ Then opened he their understanding, ⁴⁶ to understand the scriptures, And said to them, Thus it is written, and thus it behoved Christ to suffer, and to rise from the dead the third day: ⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ And ye are witnesses of these things. And behold I send the promise of my Father upon you: ⁴⁹ but tarry in the city Jerusalem, till ye be clothed with power from on high.

¹³ However, no man spake openly of him, for fear of the Jews.

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more: but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also. ²⁰ At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. ²¹ He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me, shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. ²² Judas (not Iscariot) saith to him, Lord, how is it, that thou wilt manifest thyself to us, and not to the world? ²³ Jesus answered and said to him, If any man love me, he will keep my words; and my Father will love him, and we will come to him, and make our abode with him.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you; my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

²² And ye now therefore have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy no one taketh from you.

³³ I have spoken these things to you, that ye may have peace in me. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but take courage: I have overcome the world.

²¹ Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you. As the Father hath sent me, even so send I you.

³³ Now the God of peace be with you all. Amen!

⁵ Afterwards he was seen by above five hundred brethren at once,

¹⁴ For he is our peace, he who hath made both one,

²³ Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

² Grace be unto you, and peace from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace always by all means.

² To whom also Abraham gave a tenth part of all the spoils; being by interpretation, first king of righteousness, and then king of Salem also, which is king of peace;

⁴ John to the seven churches which are in Asia; Grace be unto you, and peace from him who is, and who was, and who cometh, and from the seven Spirits that are before the throne,

⁸ Lo, I have told you. And departing quickly from the sepulchre with fear and great joy they ran to tell his disciples.

³⁹ Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself. Handle me and see: for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as you see me have. ⁴⁰ And having spoken this, he shewed them his hands and his feet. ⁴¹ And while they yet believed not for joy, and wondered, he said to them, Have ye here any meat?

²⁰ Verily, verily I say unto you, Ye will weep and lament; but the world will rejoice: ye will be sorrowful; but your sorrow shall be turned into joy.

³⁴ But one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and forthwith there came out blood and water.

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have beheld, and our hands have handled of the word of life:

¹⁶ Behold, I send you forth as sheep in the midst of wolves be ye therefore wise as serpents, and harmless as doves.

⁴⁰ and he that entertaineth me, entertaineth him that sent me.

¹⁸ And Jesus came and spake to them, saying, All power is given me in heaven and in earth. ¹⁹ Go ye and disciple all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost. ²⁰ Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you; and lo I am with you always, even to the end of the world.

¹⁵ And he said to them, Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature. ¹⁶ He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that believeth not, shall be damned. ¹⁷ And these signs shall follow them that believe: in my name they shall cast out devils: ¹⁸ they shall speak with new tongues: They shall take up serpents, and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall in no wise hurt them: they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.

¹⁷ For God sent not his Son into the world, to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved thro' him.

²⁰ Verily, verily I say unto you, he that receiveth whomsoever I send, receiveth me, and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.

¹⁸ As thou hast sent me into the world, I also have sent them into the world. ¹⁹ And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also may be sanctified thro' the truth.

¹⁹ The same day, the first day of the week, at evening, the doors being shut, where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, Peace be unto you.

⁸ But ye shall receive power, the Holy Ghost being come upon you, and shall be witnesses to me, both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.

² And the things which thou hast heard from me before many witnesses, these commit to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.

¹ Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the apostle and high-priest of our profession,

³⁹ This he spake of the Spirit, which they who believed on him were to receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.

¹⁶ to remain with you for ever, Even the Spirit of truth,

²⁶ But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me.

⁷ But I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go: for if I go not, the Comforter will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send him to you.

⁴ And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

³⁸ And Peter said, Repent, and be baptized every one of you, in the name of Jesus, for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost.

⁸ Then Peter filled with the Holy Ghost, said to them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel,

¹⁵ Who being come down, prayed for them, that they might receive the Holy Ghost.

⁴⁷ Then Peter answered, Can any man forbid water, that these should not be baptized, who have received the Holy Ghost, even as we?

² and finding certain disciples, He said to them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost, since ye believed? And they said to him, Nay, we have not so much as heard, Whether there be any Holy Ghost.

² This only would I learn of you, Did you receive the Spirit, by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?

¹⁹ And I will give thee the keys of the kingdom of heaven: and whatsoever thou shalt bind on earth shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever thou shalt loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.

¹⁸ Verily I say to you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth, shall be bound in heaven, and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth, shall be loosed in heaven.

⁵ Jesus seeing their faith, said to the paralytic, Son, thy sins are forgiven thee. ⁶ But certain of the scribes were sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, Why doth this man thus speak blasphemies? ⁷ Who can forgive sins, but God only? ⁸ And Jesus immediately knowing in his spirit, that they so reasoned in themselves, said to them, Why reason ye thus in your hearts? ⁹ Which is easier? To say to the paralytic, Thy sins are forgiven thee? ¹⁰ Or to say, Arise, and take up thy couch and walk? But that ye may know, that the Son of man hath authority on earth to forgive sins: (He saith to the paralytic) I say to thee,

⁴³ To him give all the prophets witness, that every one who believeth in him, shall receive forgiveness of sins through his name.

³⁸ Be it known unto you therefore, that through this man is preached to you the forgiveness of sins. ³⁹ And by him every one that believeth is justified from all things, from which ye could not be justified by the law of Moses.

⁴ as if I were present, judged him who hath so done this, In the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, when ye are gathered together, and my spirit,

⁶ Sufficient for such an one is this punishment inflicted by many. ⁷ So that on the contrary ye should rather forgive and comfort him, lest such an one should be swallowed up with overmuch sorrow. ⁸ I beseech you therefore to confirm your love toward him. ⁹ For to this end also did I write, that I might know the proof of you, whether ye were obedient in all things. ¹⁰ To whom ye forgive any thing, I forgive also: and if I forgive any thing, to whom I forgive it, it is for your sakes, in the person of Christ.

²⁰ Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone, On whom all the building fitly framed together,

²⁰ Among which are Hymeneus and Alexander, whom I have delivered to satan, that they may learn not to blaspheme.

³ Philip and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the publican; James the son of Alpheus, and Lebbeus, whose surname was Thaddeus;

⁶⁶ From this time many of his disciples went back and walked no more with him. ⁶⁷ Then said Jesus to the twelve, Are ye also minded to go away?

¹⁶ Then said Thomas, called Didymus, to his fellow-disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

⁵ Thomas saith to him, Lord, we know not whither thou goest, and how can we know the way?

² There were together Simon Peter and Thomas called Didymus, and Nathanael of Cana in Galilee, and the sons of Zebedee, and two other of his disciples.

²⁵ Not forsaking the assembling ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another, and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

¹ Then the Parisees and Saducees came and tempting, desired him to shew them a sign from heaven. ² He answering said to them, In the evening ye say, It will be fair weather; for the sky is red: ³ And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day; for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye know to discern the face of the sky: can ye not discern the signs of the times? ⁴ A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh a sign; but there shall no sign be given to it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them and departed.

⁴² If he be the king of Israel,

¹¹ But they, hearing that he was alive, and had been seen of her, believed not.

²⁵ Then he said to them, O foolish, and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken!

³⁴ saying, The Lord is risen indeed, and hath appeared to Simon. ³⁵ And they told the things done in the way, and how he was known by them in the breaking of the bread. ³⁶ And as they spake thus, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith to them, Peace be unto you. ³⁷ But being terrified and affrighted, they thought they saw a spirit. ³⁸ And he said to them, Why are ye troubled? and why do reasonings arise in your hearts?

⁴¹ He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith to him, We have found the Messiah (which is, being interpreted the Christ.)

³⁰ They said therefore to him, What sign dost thou then, that we may see and believe thee? What dost thou work?

¹⁴ And having said this, she turned herself back, and seeth Jesus standing, but knew not that it was Jesus. ¹⁵ Jesus saith to her, Woman, why weepest thou? Whom seekest thou? She supposing him to be the gardiner, saith to him, Sir, if thou hast borne him hence, tell me where thou hast laid him, and I will take him away. ¹⁶ Jesus saith to her, Mary! ¹⁷ She turning, saith to him, Rabboni; that is, Master. Jesus saith to her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father. But go to my brethren and say to them, I ascend to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God. ¹⁸ Mary Magdalene came and told the disciples, that she had seen the Lord, and that he had spoken these things to her. ¹⁹ The same day, the first day of the week, at evening, the doors being shut, where the disciples were assembled, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith to them, Peace be unto you. ²⁰ And having said this, he shewed them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

³⁰ The God of our fathers hath raised up Jesus, whom ye slew, hanging him on a tree. ³¹ Him hath God exalted, a Prince and a Saviour with his right-hand, to give repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins. ³² And we are witnesses of these things, and also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

⁴⁰ Him God raised up the third day, and shewed him openly; ⁴¹ (Not to all the people, but to witnesses, chosen before of God, even to us, who did eat and drink with him) after he rose from the dead.

⁵ Afterwards he was seen by above five hundred brethren at once, ⁶ of whom the greater part remain until now, but some are fallen asleep. ⁷ After this he was seen by James, then by all the apostles. ⁸ Last of all he was seen by me also, as an untimely birth.

¹² Take heed, brethren, left there be in any of you an evil heart of unbelief, in departing from the living God:

¹⁸ Whose carcases fell in the wilderness? And to whom sware he, that they should not enter into his rest, but to them that believed not?

³⁸ Now the just shall live by faith; but if he draw back, my soul hath no pleasure in him. ³⁹ But we are not of them who draw back to perdition, but of them that believe to the saving of the soul.

¹ And after six days, Jesus taketh Peter and James and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart,

²⁸ And about eight days after these sayings, he took Peter and James and John, and went up into a mountain to pray.

¹⁷ Then Jesus answering said, O unbelieving and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you?

¹⁹ He answereth them and saith, O faithless generation, how long shall I be with you?

⁴¹ And Jesus answering said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? How long shall I suffer you? Bring thy son hither.

⁴⁰ And having spoken this, he shewed them his hands and his feet.

²⁰ And having said this, he shewed them his hands and his side. Then were the disciples glad, when they saw the Lord.

²⁰ But the law came in between, that the offence might abound: yet where sin abounded, grace did much more abound:

¹⁴ And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant, with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ This is a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners, of whom I am the chief. ¹⁶ Yet for this cause I obtained mercy, that on me the chief Jesus Christ might shew all long-suffering, for a pattern to them who should hereafter believe in him to life everlasting.

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have beheld, and our hands have handled of the word of life: ² For the life was manifested, and we have seen, and testify and declare to you the eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested to us:

³³ Then they that were in the vessel, came and worshiped him, saying, Of a truth thou art the Son of God.

⁵² And they worshiped him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy,

¹ In the beginning existed the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

²³ That all men may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father that sent him.

³⁵ Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and having found him, he said to him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God? ³⁶ He answered and said, Sir, who is he, that I may believe on him? ³⁷ Jesus said to him, Thou hast both seen him, and he that talketh with thee is he. ³⁸ And he said, Lord, I believe.

¹⁶ Jesus saith to her, Mary!

³¹ But these are written, that ye may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that believing ye may have life thro' his name.

⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen, invoking and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. ⁶⁰ And kneeling down, he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And having said this, he fell asleep: And Saul was consenting to his death.

¹⁶ The mystery of godliness is the pillar and ground of the truth, and without controversy a great thing: God was manifested in the flesh, was justified by the spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, taken up into glory.

⁹ And they sing a new song, saying, Worthy art thou to take the book and to open the seals thereof; for thou wast slain and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation, ¹⁰ And hast made them unto our God kings and priests, and they shall reign over the earth. ¹¹ And I saw and heard a voice of many angels, round about the throne and the living creatures and the elders; and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands, ¹² Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive the power, and the riches, and the wisdom, ¹³ and the strength, and the honour, and the glory, and the blessing. And every creature which is in the heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and on the sea, and all that are in them, I heard them all saying, To him that sitteth on the throne, and to the Lamb, is the blessing, and the honour, and the glory, and the power, for ever and ever. ¹⁴ And the four living creatures said Amen: and the elders fell down and worshiped.

⁴⁵ And happy is she that believed; for there shall be a performance of those things which were told her from the Lord.

⁴⁸ Jesus said to him, Unless ye see signs and wonders, ye will in no wise believe.

⁸ Then the other disciple, who came first to the sepulchre, went in; and he saw and believed.

⁷ (For we walk by faith, not by sight.)

¹ Now faith is the subsistence of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.

²⁷ By faith he left Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing him that is invisible.

³⁹ And all these having obtained a good testimony thro' faith,

⁸ Whom having not seen, ye love: in whom tho' ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory, Receiving the end of your faith, the salvation of your souls.

³ It seemed good to me also, having accurately traced all things from their first rise, to write unto thee in order, most noble Theophilus, ⁴ That thou mayst know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

¹¹ Jesus wrought this beginning of miracles in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory, and his disciples believed on him.

²⁵ which, if they were to be written particularly, I suppose that even the world itself would not contain the books that were written.

⁴ For whatsoever things were written aforetime, were written for our instruction, that we, through patience and consolation of the scriptures, may have hope.

¹¹ Now all these things happened to them for examples, and they are written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages are come.

¹⁵ And that from an infant thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation, thro' faith which is in Christ Jesus. ¹⁶ All scripture is inspired of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness; ¹⁷ That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

¹ This second epistle, beloved, I now write to you, in both which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance, ² That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Knowing this first,

³ That which we have seen and heard declare we to you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son, Jesus Christ: ⁴ And these things write we to you, that your joy may be full.

¹³ These things have I written to you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the Son of God.

³ And the tempter coming to him said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

¹⁶ And Simon Peter answering said, Thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God.

⁵⁴ And the centurion and they that were with him, guarding Jesus, seeing the earthquake and the things that were done, feared greatly, saying, Truly this was the Son of God.

¹⁶ He that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that believeth not, shall be damned.

⁴ That thou mayst know the certainty of those things, wherein thou hast been instructed.

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

¹⁵ That whosoever believeth on him, may not perish, but have everlasting life. ¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on him, may not perish, but have everlasting life.

¹⁸ He that believeth on him, is not condemned; but he that believeth not, is condemned already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God.

³⁶ He that believeth on the Son, hath everlasting life: but he that obeyeth not the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.

²⁴ Verily, verily I say unto you, he that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and cometh not into condemnation, but is passed from death to life.

³⁹ Search the scriptures: in them ye think ye have eternal life: and it is they that testify of me. ⁴⁰ Yet ye will not come to me, that ye may have life.

⁴⁰ And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, should have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁶⁹ Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we have believed and known, that thou art the Christ, the Son of the living God. ⁷⁰ Jesus answered them, Have I not chosen you twelve? Yet one of you is a devil.

¹⁰ The thief cometh not, but to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they may have life, and that they may have it abundantly.

³⁵ And he that saw, hath testified it, and his testimony is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye may believe.

¹⁶ And his name, thro' faith in his name, hath strengthened this man, whom ye see and know; yea, the faith which is by him, hath given him this perfect soundness, in the presence of you all.

³⁶ And as they went on the way, they came to a certain water. And the eunuch said, Behold water: what hindereth me to be baptized?

²⁰ And he was certain days with the disciples in Damascus: And straightway he preached Jesus in the synagogues, that he is the Son of God.

³ Concerning his Son, Jesus Christ, our Lord, ⁴ who was of the seed of David, according to the flesh, But declared the Son of God with power, according to the Spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead,

⁹ Of which salvation the prophets enquired and searched diligently,

²³ Whosoever denieth the Son, he hath not the Father: he that acknowledgeth the Son, hath the Father also. ²⁴ Therefore let that abide in you which ye heard from the beginning: if that which ye heard from the beginning abide in you, ye also shall abide in the Son and in the Father. ²⁵ And this is the promise which he hath promised us, eternal life.

¹⁵ Whosoever shall confess, that Jesus is the Son of God, God abideth in him, and he in God.

¹ Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God; and every one who loveth him that begat, loveth him also that is begotten of him.

¹⁰ He that believeth on the Son of God, hath the testimony in himself. He that believeth not God, hath made him a liar, because he believeth not the testimony which he hath testified of his Son. ¹¹ And this is the testimony, that God hath given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life. ¹³ These things have I written to you that believe on the name of the Son of God, that ye may know ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the Son of God.

²⁰ But we know that the Son of God is come; and he hath given us an understanding that we may know the true one; and we are in the true one, even in his Son Jesus Christ; this is the true God and eternal life.
