²⁸ But he was angry, and would not go in: therefore his father coming out intreated him.

¹¹ And having received it, they murmured against the housholder, saying,

¹⁹ But I say, Hath not Israel known? First Moses saith, I will provoke you to jealousy by them that are not a nation; by a foolish nation I will anger you.

³⁰ But the scribes and Pharisees murmured against his disciples, saying, Why do ye eat and drink with publicans and sinners?

³⁹ But the Pharisee who had invited him, seeing it, spake within himself, saying, This man, if he were a prophet, would have known, who and what manner of woman this is that toucheth him; for she is a sinner.

³⁴ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, that killest the prophets and stonest them that are sent to thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together as a bird gathereth her brood under her wings, and ye would not!

² And the Pharisees and scribes murmured saying, This man receiveth sinners and eateth with them.

⁴⁷ And that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.

⁴⁵ But the Jews seeing the multitudes, were filled with zeal, and spake against the things spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

⁵⁰ But the Jews stirred up the devout, honourable women, and the chief men of the city, and raised a persecution against Paul and Barnabas, and expelled them out of their coasts.
