³⁶ And they said, Nothing. Then said he to them, But now he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip; and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment and buy one.

²² And ye shall be hated of all men for my name's sake: but he that endureth to the end, shall be saved. ²³ But when they persecute you in this city, flee to another; for verily I say unto you, Ye shall not have gone over the cities of Israel, till the Son of man be come. ²⁴ The disciple is not above his teacher, nor the servant above his lord. ²⁵ It is enough for the disciple that he be as his teacher, and the servant as his lord.

²⁰ Remember the word that I said to you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.

³³ I have spoken these things to you, that ye may have peace in me. In the world ye shall have tribulation; but take courage: I have overcome the world.

¹⁴ For ye, brethren, became followers of the churches of God in Christ Jesus, which are in Judea; for ye also suffered the same things from your own countrymen, as they likewise from the Jews: ¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted us: and they please not God, and are contrary to all men.

⁴ For when we were with you we told you before, we should be afflicted; as it came to pass, and ye know.

¹ Seeing then Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves also with the same mind:
