⁴¹ Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing; but the flesh is weak.

¹³ And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil. For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever and ever. Amen.

⁴² Watch therefore; for ye know not what hour your Lord cometh.

¹³ Watch therefore; for ye know not the day nor the hour.

³⁸ Then saith he to them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death: tarry ye here, and watch with me.

³³ Take heed; watch and pray: for ye know not when the time is. ³⁴ For the Son of man is as a man taking a far journey, who left his house, and gave authority to his servants, and to each his work, and commanded the porter to watch. ³⁵ Watch ye therefore; for ye know not when the master of the house cometh; at evening, or at midnight, or at cock-crowing, or in the morning: ³⁶ Lest coming suddenly he find you sleeping. ³⁷ And what I say to you, I say to all, Watch.

³⁸ Couldest thou not watch one hour? Watch and pray, lest ye enter into temptation; the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

¹² Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected: but I pursue, if I may apprehend that, for which I was also apprehended by Christ Jesus. ¹³ Brethren, I do not account myself to have apprehended. ¹⁴ But one thing I do, forgetting the things that are behind, and reaching forth unto the things which are before, I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.

¹³ Those on the rock are they, who, when they hear, receive the word with joy. But they have no root, who for a while believe; but in time of temptation fall away.

⁴ And forgive us our sins; for we also forgive every one that is indebted to us. And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.

³⁶ Watch ye therefore and pray always, that ye may be counted worthy to escape all these things which will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

⁴⁰ And when he was at the place he said to them, Pray that ye enter not into temptation.

⁴⁶ and found them sleeping for sorrow, And said to them, Why sleep ye? Rise and pray, lest ye enter into temptation.

¹⁸ For I know that in me, that is, in my flesh, dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good, I find not. ¹⁹ For the good that I would, I do not; but the evil which I would not, that I do. ²⁰ Now, if I do that which I would not, it is no more I that do it, but sin that dwelleth in me. ²¹ I find then a law, that when I would do good, evil is present with me. ²² For I delight in the law of God, after the inward man. ²³ But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and captivating me to the law of sin, which is in my members. ²⁴ Wretched man that I am! ²⁵ Who shall deliver me from the body of this death? I thank God, through Jesus Christ our Lord. So then I myself with my mind serve the law of God, but with my flesh the law of sin.

³ For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God hath done: sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, to be a sacrifice for sin, he hath condemned sin in the flesh:

²⁷ But I keep under my body, and bring it into subjection, lest by any means, after having preached to others, I myself should become a reprobate.

¹³ There hath no temptation taken you, but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above your ability, but will with the temptation make also a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

¹³ Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, acquit yourselves like men; be strong.

¹⁶ I say then, walk by the Spirit, and fulfil not the desire of the flesh. ¹⁷ For the flesh desireth against the Spirit, but the Spirit desireth against the flesh (these are contrary to each other) that ye may not do the things which ye would.

²⁴ And they that are Christ's, have crucified the flesh with its affections and desires.

¹⁸ which is the word of God, Praying alway by the Spirit with all prayer and supplication, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints,

⁷ But the end of all things is at hand; be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer.

⁸ for your adversary the devil, walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour:

⁹ The Lord knoweth how to deliver the godly out of temptation, and to reserve the unrighteous to the day of judgment to be punished.

¹⁰ Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee, from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon the whole world, to try them that dwell upon the earth.

¹⁵ (Behold I come as a thief. Happy is he that watcheth and keepeth his garments, lest he walk naked and they see his shame.)
