¹ And after this I saw another angel coming down out of heaven, having great power, and the earth was inlightned with his glory. ² And he cried mightily with a loud voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become an habitation of devils, and an hold of every unclean spirit, and an hold of every unclean beast, and a cage of every unclean and hateful bird. ³ For all nations have drank of the wine of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich, thro' the abundance of her delicacies. ⁴ And I heard another voice out of heaven, saying, Come out of her my people, that ye be not partakers of her sins, and that ye receive not of her plagues. ⁵ For her sins have reached even to heaven, and God hath remembered her iniquities. ⁶ Reward her even as she hath rewarded, and give her double according to her works; in the cup which she filled, fill to her double. ⁷ As much as she hath glorified herself and lived deliciously, so much torment and sorrow give her: because she saith in her heart, I sit as a queen, and am no widow, and shall see no sorrow. ⁸ Therefore shall her plagues come in one day, death, and sorrow, and famine; and she shall be burnt with fire; for strong is the Lord God who judgeth her. ⁹ And the kings of the earth, who had committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall weep and mourn over her, when they see the smoke of her burning, ¹⁰ Standing afar off for fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas! Thou great city Babylon, thou strong city! In one hour is thy judgment come. ¹¹ And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her; for none buyeth their merchandize any more; Merchandize of gold, ¹² and silver, and precious stone, and pearl, and fine linen, and purple, and silk, and scarlet, and all sorts of thyine wood, and all sorts of vessels of ivory, and all sorts of vessels of most precious wood, and of brass, and iron, and marble; ¹³ And cinnamon, and amomum, and odours, and ointment, and frankincense, and wine, and oil, and fine flour, and wheat, and beasts, and sheep; and merchandize of horses and of chariots, and of bodies and souls of men. ¹⁴ And the fruits which thy soul desireth are departed from thee, and all things that were dainty and splendid are perished from thee and thou shalt find them no more. ¹⁵ The merchants of these things who became rich by her, shall stand afar off, for fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, Saying, alas, alas! ¹⁶ The great city that was clothed in fine linen, and purple, and scarlet, and decked with gold, and precious stone, and pearl: in one hour so great riches are become desolate. ¹⁷ And every ship-master, and all the company belonging to ships, and sailors, and all who trade by sea, ¹⁸ stood afar off, And cried when they saw the smoke of her burning, saying, What city was like the great city? ¹⁹ And they cast dust on their heads, and cried, weeping and mourning, saying, Alas, alas! The great city, wherein were made rich all that had ships in the sea, by reason of her costliness; for in one hour she is made desolate. ²⁰ Rejoice over her, thou heaven, and ye saints, and apostles, and prophets; for God hath avenged you on her. ²¹ And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great mill-stone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all. ²² And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee, and no artificer of any kind shall be found any more in thee, and the sound of a mill-stone shall be heard no more at all in thee. ²³ And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee, and the voice of the bridegroom and the bride shall be heard no more in thee: for thy merchants, were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived. ²⁴ And in her was found the blood of prophets, and saints, and of all that had been slain upon the earth.

²⁴ Ior as the lightning that lightneth out of the one part under heaven, shineth to the other part under heaven, so shall also the Son of man be in his day.

⁸ And then will that wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the Spirit of his mouth, and destroy with the brightness of his coming:

¹ And I saw another mighty angel coming down from heaven clothed with a cloud, and a rainbow upon his head, and his face as the sun, and his feet as pillars of fire.

¹ And there came one of the seven angels who had the seven phials, and talked with me, saying, Come hither, I will shew thee the judgment of the great whore, that sitteth upon many waters:

⁷ And the angel said to me, Wherefore didst thou wonder? I will tell thee the mystery of the woman, and of the wild beast that carrieth her, which hath the seven heads and the ten horns.

²³ And the city hath no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine on it; for the glory of God hath inlightened it, and the Lamb is the lamp thereof.

³ Who had his dwelling among the tombs, and no man could bind him, no not with chains. ⁴ For he had been often bound with fetters and chains, and the chains had been plucked asunder, by him, and the fetters broken in pieces; and no man could tame him. ⁵ And always night and day, he was in the tombs, and in the mountains, crying and cutting himself with stones.

²⁷ And as he went forth to land, there met him out of the city, a certain man that had had devils a long time, and wore no clothes, neither abode in an house, but in the tombs. ²⁸ But seeing Jesus, he cried out and fell down before him, and said with a loud voice, What hast thou to do with me, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I beseech thee, torment me not.

¹⁵ and his eyes as a flame of fire, And his feet like fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace, and his voice as the voice of many waters.

² And I saw a strong angel proclaiming with a loud voice, Who is worthy to open the book and to loose the seals thereof?

³ And he cried with a loud voice, as when a lion roareth; and while he cried, seven thunders uttered their voices.

⁸ And another angel followed, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen; she that hath made all nations drink of the wine of her fornication.

¹⁵ And another angel came out of the temple, crying with a loud voice to him that sat on the cloud, Thrust in thy sickle and reap; for the time to reap is come; for the harvest of the earth is ripe.

¹³ And I saw out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the wild beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet, three unclean spirits like frogs (They are spirits of devils,

¹⁹ And the great city was split into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell, and Babylon the Great was remembered before God, to give her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath.

⁵ And on her forehead a name written, Mystery; Babylon the Great, the mother of harlots, and abominations of the earth.

¹⁸ And the woman whom thou sawest is the great city, which reigneth over the kings of the earth.

¹⁰ Standing afar off for fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas! Thou great city Babylon, thou strong city! In one hour is thy judgment come.

²¹ And a mighty angel took up a stone like a great mill-stone, and cast it into the sea, saying, Thus with violence shall Babylon, the great city, be thrown down, and shall be found no more at all.

²⁵ A reed shaken by the wind? But what went ye out to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? Behold they that are splendidly apparelled, and live delicately, are in kings palaces.

¹ But there were false prophets also among the people, as there shall likewise be false teachers among you, who will privily bring in destructive heresies, even denying the Lord that bought them, and bring upon themselves swift destruction. ² And many will follow their pernicious ways, by reason of whom the way of truth will be evil spoken of. ³ And through covetousness will they with feigned speeches make merchandize of you, whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their destruction slumbereth not.

² With whom the kings of the earth have committed fornication, and the inhabitants of the earth have been made drunk with the wine of her fornication.

⁹ And the kings of the earth, who had committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall weep and mourn over her, when they see the smoke of her burning,

³⁰ And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.

¹⁵ When therefore ye see the abomination of desolation spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (he that readeth, let him understand;) Then let them who are in Judea flee to the mountains: ¹⁶ Let not him that is on the house-top,

¹⁷ Therefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, and touch not the unclean person, saith the Lord, and I will receive you,

²² Lay hands suddenly on no man, neither partake of other mens sins; keep thyself pure.

¹¹ receive him not into your house, neither bid him God speed. For he that biddeth him God speed, is partaker of his evil deeds.

¹⁴ Alexander the coppersmith did me much evil; the Lord will reward him according to his works.

¹⁰ If any leadeth into captivity, he goeth into captivity: if any man kill with the sword, he must be killed with the sword. Here is the patience and the faithfulness of the saints.

¹⁰ He shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured unmixt into the cup of his indignation, and shall be tormented with fire and brimstone, in the presence of the holy angels, and in the presence of the Lamb.

⁵ And I heard the angel of the waters saying, Righteous art thou, who art, and who wast, the Gracious one, because thou hast judged thus. ⁶ For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink. They are worthy.

⁴ And the woman was arrayed in purple and scarlet, and decked with gold and precious stone and pearls, having in her hand a golden cup, full of abominations and filthiness of her fornification:

⁴ Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshiped, so that he sitteth in the temple of God as God, declaring himself that he is God. ⁵ Remember ye not, that I told you these things, when I was yet with you? ⁶ And now ye know that which with-holdeth, that he may be revealed in his time. ⁷ For the mystery of iniquity already worketh; only he that with-holdeth will with-hold, till he be taken out of the way. ⁸ And then will that wicked one be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the Spirit of his mouth, and destroy with the brightness of his coming:

²² Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?

¹⁷ Saying, We give thee thanks, O Lord God, the Almighty, who is, and who was, because thou hast taken thy great power, and hast reigned.

¹⁶ And the ten horns which thou sawest, and the wild beast, these shall hate the whore, and shall make her desolate and naked, and shall eat her flesh, and burn her with fire.

⁹ And the kings of the earth, who had committed fornication and lived deliciously with her, shall weep and mourn over her, when they see the smoke of her burning, ¹⁰ Standing afar off for fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas! Thou great city Babylon, thou strong city! In one hour is thy judgment come.

¹⁷ And every ship-master, and all the company belonging to ships, and sailors, and all who trade by sea,

³ (And again they said Hallelujah) and her smoke ascendeth for ever and ever.

¹¹ And the smoke of their torment ascendeth for ever and ever, and they have no rest day or night, who worship the wild beast and his image, and whosoever receiveth the mark of his name.

¹² And the ten horns which thou sawest are ten kings, who have not received the kingdom, but receive authority as kings one hour with the wild beast. ¹³ These have one mind, and give their power and authority to the wild beast.

³ For all nations have drank of the wine of her fornication, and the kings of the earth have committed fornication with her, and the merchants of the earth are waxed rich, thro' the abundance of her delicacies.

⁵ But they slighting it, went one to his farm, another to his merchandise.

¹⁶ and otherthrew the tables, And said to them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of traffick.

³ And through covetousness will they with feigned speeches make merchandize of you, whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their destruction slumbereth not.

¹⁶ And he causeth all, small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slaves, to receive a mark in their right-hand, or in their forehead, ¹⁷ That no man might buy or sell, but he that had the mark, the name of the wild beast, or the number of his name.

¹⁵ The merchants of these things who became rich by her, shall stand afar off, for fear of her torment, weeping and mourning, Saying, alas, alas!

³ Then Mary, taking a pound of ointment, of very costly spikenard, anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. ⁴ But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was about to betray him, ⁵ faith, Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? ⁶ This he said, not because he cared for the poor, but because he was a thief, and had the purse, and bare what was put therein. ⁷ Then Jesus said, Let her alone; against the day of my burial hath she kept this. ⁸ Ye have the poor always with you: but me ye have not always.

¹⁰ Against whoremongers, sodomites, man-stealers, liars, perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to wholesome doctrine,

²⁰ But God said to him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: and whose shall the things be that thou hast provided?

²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember, that thou in thy life-time receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

⁶ Now these things were for our example, that we might not desire evil things, as they desired.

² Ye desire and have not, ye kill, and envy, and cannot obtain: ye fight and war; yet ye have not, because ye ask not.

¹⁶ For all that is in the world, the desire of the flesh, and the desire of the eye, and the pride of life, is not of the Father, but is of the world. ¹⁷ And the world passeth away, and the desire thereof; but he that doth the will of God abideth for ever.

¹⁷ And he taught, saying to them, Is it not written, My house shall be called of all nations an house of prayer? But ye have made it a den of thieves.

¹⁹ But when her owners saw, that the hope of their gain was gone, laying hold of Paul and Silas, they dragged them into the market-place to the magistrates,

²⁴ For a man named Demetrius, a silver smith, who made silver shrines of Diana, procured no small gain to the artificers: ²⁵ Whom having gathered together, with the workmen employed in such things, he said, Sirs, ye know, that our maintenance arises from this occupation. ²⁶ But ye see and hear, that not at Ephesus only, but almost through all Asia, this Paul hath persuaded and turned aside much people, saying, That they are not gods, which are made with hands. ²⁷ So that there is danger, not only that this our craft should be set at nought, but also that the temple of the great goddess Diana should be despised, and her majesty destroyed, whom all Asia, and the world worshipeth.

¹⁰ Standing afar off for fear of her torment, saying, Alas, alas! Thou great city Babylon, thou strong city! In one hour is thy judgment come. ¹¹ And the merchants of the earth weep and mourn over her; for none buyeth their merchandize any more; Merchandize of gold,

¹⁹ There was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, and feasted splendidly every day. ²⁰ And there was a certain beggar, named Lazarus, who was laid at his gate, full of sores; ²¹ and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table: yea, the dogs also came and licked his sores. ²² And the beggar died and was carried by angels into Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died and was buried: ²³ And in hell lifting up his eyes, being in torments, he seeth Abraham afar off and Lazarus in his bosom. ²⁴ And he cried and said, Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus to dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. ²⁵ But Abraham said, Son, remember, that thou in thy life-time receivedst thy good things, and likewise Lazarus evil things: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented. ²⁶ And besides all this, between us and you, there is a great gulph fixed; so that they who would pass from us to you, cannot, neither can they pass to us that would come from thence. ²⁷ Then he said, I pray thee, therefore, father, that thou wouldest send him to my father's house: ²⁸ For I have five brethren; that he may testify to them, lest they also come into this place of torment. ²⁹ Abraham saith to him, They have Moses and the prophets; let them hear them. ³⁰ And he said, Nay, father Abraham; but if one go to them from the dead, they will repent. ³¹ And he said to him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded tho' one rose from the dead.

⁴ because he gave the authority to the wild beast; and worshiped the wild beast, saying, Who is like the wild beast? and who can war with him?

⁴⁹ Therefore also the wisdom of God hath said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will slay, and persecute the rest. ⁵⁰ So that the blood of all the prophets shed from the foundation of the world, shall be required of this generation.

⁷ And shall not God vindicate his own elect, who cry to him day and night, though he bear long with them? ⁸ I tell you he will vindicate them speedily. Yet when the Son of man cometh, will he find faith upon earth?

²⁰ Built upon the foundation of the apostles and prophets, Jesus Christ himself being the chief cornerstone, On whom all the building fitly framed together,

⁵ Which in other ages was not made known to the sons of men, as it hath now been revealed to the holy apostles and prophets by the Spirit,

¹¹ And he gave some apostles, and some prophets, and some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers;

² That ye may be mindful of the words which were spoken before by the holy prophets, and of the commandment of us, the apostles of the Lord and Saviour: Knowing this first,

¹⁷ But ye, beloved, remember the words which were spoken before by the apostles of our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ And they cried with a loud voice, saying, How long, O Lord, thou Holy One and true, dost thou not judge and avenge our blood on them that dwell upon the earth?

¹² Therefore rejoice ye heavens, and ye that dwell in them: Wo to the earth and the sea; for the devil is come down to you, having great wrath; because he knoweth he hath but a little time.

¹ After this I heard a loud voice of a great multitude in heaven, saying, Hallelujah: The salvation, and the glory, and the power to our God. ² For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand, ³ (And again they said Hallelujah) and her smoke ascendeth for ever and ever.

⁸ And he prevailed not, neither was his place found any more in heaven.

²⁰ And every island fled, and the mountains were not found.

²² And the voice of harpers, and musicians, and pipers, and trumpeters, shall be heard no more at all in thee, and no artificer of any kind shall be found any more in thee, and the sound of a mill-stone shall be heard no more at all in thee.

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and him that sat thereon, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled away; and there was found no place for them.

¹¹ They gave heed to him, because he had a long time astonished them with witchcraft.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, the antient serpent, who is called the devil and satan, who deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out unto the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.

¹³ And he doth great wonders, so that he even maketh fire to come down out of heaven on the earth in the sight of men. ¹⁴ And he deceiveth them that dwell on the earth by the wonders which it is given him to do before the wild beast: saying to them that dwell on the earth, to make an image to the wild beast, which had the wound by the sword, and yet lived. ¹⁵ And it was given him to give breath to the image of the wild beast; so that the image of the wild beast should speak: and he will cause, that as many as will not worship the image of the wild beast shall be killed. ¹⁶ And he causeth all, small and great, both rich and poor, both free and slaves, to receive a mark in their right-hand, or in their forehead,

⁸ But the fearful, and unbelieving, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, their part is in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone, which is the second death.

⁵ And there shall be no night there, neither is there need of a lamp, or of the light of the sun; for the Lord God will give them light, and they shall reign for ever.

¹⁵ Without are dogs, and sorcerers, and whoremongers, and murderers, and idolaters, and every one that loveth and maketh a lie.

²⁷ Wo to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye are like whited sepulchres, which outwardly indeed appear beautiful, but within are full of dead men's bones and of all uncleanness.

³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed on the earth, from the blood of Abel the righteous, to the blood of Zechariah the son of Barachiah, whom ye slew between the temple and the altar.

⁴⁷ Wo to you; for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets; whom your fathers killed. ⁴⁸ Truly ye bear witness that ye approve the deeds of your fathers: for whom they killed, ye build their sepulchres. ⁴⁹ Therefore also the wisdom of God hath said, I will send them prophets and apostles, and some of them they will slay, and persecute the rest. ⁵⁰ So that the blood of all the prophets shed from the foundation of the world, shall be required of this generation. ⁵¹ From the blood of Abel to the blood of Zechariah, who was destroyed between the temple and the altar: verily I say to you, it shall be required of this generation.

⁵² Which of the prophets have not your fathers persecuted? And they have slain them that shewed before of the coming of the Just One, of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers: Who have received the law by the administration of angels,

¹⁵ Who both killed the Lord Jesus and their own prophets, and have persecuted us: and they please not God, and are contrary to all men.

⁷ And when they shall have finished their testimony, the wild beast that ascendeth out of the bottomless pit, shall make war with them, and conquer them, and kill them.

⁶ For they have shed the blood of saints and prophets, and thou hast given them blood to drink. They are worthy.

⁶ And I saw the woman drunk with the blood of the saints, and with the blood of the witnesses of Jesus. And when I saw, I wondered exceedingly.

² For true and righteous are his judgments: for he hath judged the great whore, who corrupted the earth with her fornication, and hath avenged the blood of his servants at her hand,
