¹ Jesus, therefore six days before the Passover, came to Bethany, where Lazarus was who had been dead, whom Jesus raised from the dead. ² And they made him a supper, and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that sat at the table with him. ³ Then Mary takes a pound of ointment, of spikenard, very costly, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair: and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. ⁴ One of his disciples therefore Judas Scarioth who was to betray him, saith, ⁵ Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred denarii, and given to the poor? ⁶ But he said this, not that he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and having the bag, he bare what was put therein. ⁷ Jesus therefore said, Let her alone; that she may keep [it] for the day of my burial. ⁸ -- ⁹ But many therefore of the multitude of the Jews heard that he was there: and they came, not for Jesus sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead. ¹⁰ But the chief priests consulted, that they might put Lazarus also to death; ¹¹ Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus. ¹² On the next day many of the multitude that were come to the feast, when they heard that Jesus was coming to Jerusalem, ¹³ Took branches of palm trees and went forth to meet him, and cried aloud, saying, Hosanna, blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord, the King of Israel. ¹⁴ But Jesus when he had found a young ass, sat thereon; as it is written. ¹⁵ Fear not, daughter of Sion: behold thy King cometh, sitting on an asses colt. ¹⁶ These things his disciples minded not at the first: But when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of him, and they had done these things unto him. ¹⁷ The multitude therefore that were with him bear record that he called Lazarus out of his grave, and raised him from the dead. ¹⁸ For this cause the multitude also met him, for that they heard that he had done this sign. ¹⁹ The Pharisees therefore said among themselves, Perceive ye how ye prevail nothing? behold, the whole world is gone after him. ²⁰ But there were certain Greeks also among them, that came up to worship at the feast: ²¹ They came therefore to Philip, who was of Bethsaida of Galilee, and asked him, saying, Sir, we would see Jesus. ²² Philip cometh and telleth Andrew: Again Andrew and Philip tell Jesus. ²³ And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified. ²⁴ Verily verily I say unto you, Except a grain of wheat falling into the ground die, it abideth alone: but if it die, it bringeth forth much fruit. ²⁵ He that loveth his life, shall lose it: and he that hateth his life in this world, shall keep it unto life eternal. ²⁶ If any serve me, let him follow me, and wheresover I am, these shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will the Father honour. ²⁷ Now is my soul troubled; and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour? but for this cause came I unto this hour. ²⁸ Father, glorifie thy name with the glory which I had with thee before the world was. And a voice came from heaven saying, I have both glorified [it], and will glorifie [it] again. ²⁹ The multitude therefore that stood heard it and said it was thunder: others said, that An Angel spake to him. ³⁰ Jesus answered, and said, This voice came, not because of me, but for your sakes. ³¹ Now is the judgment of the world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out. ³² And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all things unto me. ³³ But he said this signifing what death he should die. ³⁴ The multitude answered him, We have heard out of the law, that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, that The Son of man must be lift up? Who is therefore this Son of man? ³⁵ Jesus therefore said unto them, Yet a little while is the light among you: walk therefore while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. ³⁶ While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them. ³⁷ But though he had done so many miracles before them, they believed not on him: ³⁸ That the saying of Esaias the prophet might be fulfilled, which he spake, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? ³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because Esaias said, ⁴⁰ He hath blinded [them], that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them. ⁴¹ But these things said Esaias, when he saw the glory of God there, and spake of him. ⁴² Nevertheless among the chief rulers also, many believed on him; but because of the Pharisees they did not confess [him], lest they should be put out of the synagogue. ⁴³ For they loved the praise of men more than the praise of God. ⁴⁴ Jesus therefore cried and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me, but on him that sent me. ⁴⁵ He that seeth me, seeth him that sent me. ⁴⁶ I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me, should not abide in darkness. ⁴⁷ And if any one hear my words, and keep them not, I judge him not: for I came not that I might judge the world, but that I might save the world. ⁴⁸ He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day. ⁴⁹ For I have not spoken of my self; but the Father who sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak. ⁵⁰ And I know that his commandment is life eternal: what therefore I speak, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.

¹⁷ And he left them, and went out of the city into Bethany, and he lodged there.

⁶ Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simo the leper, ⁷ There came unto him a woman having an alabaster-box of very precious ointment, and poured [it] on his head, as he sat. ⁸ But when the disciples saw [it], they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? ⁹ For it might have been sold for much, and given to the poor. ¹⁰ When Jesus understood [it], he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrote a good work upon me. ¹¹ For ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always.

¹¹ And he entered into Jerusalem, and into the temple; And when he had looked round about upon all things, and now the hour of evening was come, he went out unto Bethany with the twelve disciples

³ And Jesus being in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster-box of ointment; and she brake the alabaster-box, and poured it on his head. ⁴ But his disciples had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment? ⁵ This ointment might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured at her. ⁶ And Jesus said unto them, Let her alone, why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work in me. ⁷ For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always. ⁸ She hath done what she could: she is come aforehand to anoint my body to the burying.

⁵⁰ And he led them out to Bethany, and he lift up his hands, and blessed them.

¹ Now a certain man was sick, Lazarus of Bethany, the town of Mary and her sister Martha.

⁴⁴ And he that was dead come forth presently, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

⁵⁵ Now the Jews Passover was nigh at hand: and many went out of the country therefore up to Jerusalem, before the Passover, to purifie themselves.

²⁰ But there were certain Greeks also among them, that came up to worship at the feast:

⁶ Now when Jesus was in Bethany, in the house of Simo the leper,

³ And Jesus being in Bethany, in the house of Simon the leper, as he sat at meat, there came a woman having an alabaster-box of ointment; and she brake the alabaster-box, and poured it on his head.

²⁹ And Levi made him a great treat in his own house; and there was a great company of publicans, and of others that sat down.

³⁸ Now it came to pass, that he entred into a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha, received him into her house. ³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lords feet, and heard the word. ⁴⁰ But Martha was cumbred about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone?speak to her therefore that she may help me. ⁴¹ And Jesus answered, and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art sollicitous: ⁴² But one thing is needful. Mary hath chosen the good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

³⁷ Blessed [are] those servants, whom the Lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I [say] unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

¹² Then said he also to him that invited him, When thou makest a dinner or a supper, call not [thy] friends, nor thy brethren, nor neighbours, nor the rich, lest they also invite thee again, and a recompence be made thee.

²⁷ For I am come in the midst of you, not as he who sitteth down, but, as he that serveth.

⁴³ And when he has spoken this, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. ⁴⁴ And he that was dead come forth presently, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go.

³⁷ And behold, a woman in the city, a sinner, when she knew that he was sat down in the Pharisee's house, brought an alabaster box of ointment, ³⁸ And stood behind him, at his feet weeping, and washed his feet with tears, and wiped [them] with the hairs of her head, and kissed his feet, and anointed [them] with the ointment.

⁴⁶ Mine head with oyl thou didst not anoint: but this woman hath anointed [it] with ointment.

³⁸ Now it came to pass, that he entred into a certain village; and a certain woman named Martha, received him into her house. ³⁹ And she had a sister called Mary, who sat at the Lords feet, and heard the word.

² It was Mary who anointed the Lord with ointment, and wiped [his] feet with her hair, whose brother Lazarus also was sick.

²⁸ And when she had so said, she went away, and called Mary her sister silently, saying that The master is come, and calleth for thee.

³² When therefore Mary was come where Jesus was, and saw [him], she fell down at his feet, saying, Lord, if thou hadst been here, my brother had not died.

⁴ And Simon the Canaanite, and Judas Scarioth, who also betrayed him.

¹⁶ And Judas [the son] of James, and Judas Scarioth, who also was the traitor.

⁷⁰ Jesus answered, saying, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil? ⁷¹ He spake of Judas Scarioth [the son] of Simon: for he was to betray him, [being] one of the twelve.

² And supper being ended, the devil having now put into the heart of Judas Scarioth the Son of Simon that he should betray him.

²⁶ Jesus answereth him, and saith, He it is to whomsoever I shall give a sop, when I have dipped it. And when he had dipped the sop, he gave it to Judas Scarioth [the son] of Simon.

² And Judas also who betrayed him, knew the place; for Jesus often resorted thither with his disciples. ³ Judas therefore having received a band and officers from the chief priests and from the Pharisees, cometh thither with lanterns, and torches, and weapons. ⁴ But Jesus knowing all things that were coming upon him, went forth and saith unto them, Whom seek ye? ⁵ They answered him and said, Jesus of Nazareth. He saith unto them, I am [he]. And Judas also who betrayed him, stood with them.

² And when he had agreed with the labourers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

⁸ But when the disciples saw [it], they had indignation, saying, To what purpose is this waste? ⁹ For it might have been sold for much, and given to the poor.

⁴ But his disciples had indignation within themselves, and said, Why was this waste of the ointment? ⁵ This ointment might have been sold for more than three hundred denarii, and have been given to the poor. And they murmured at her.

⁴¹ And why beholdest thou the mote that is in thy brothers eye, but perceived not the beam that is in thine eye?

³³ Sell that ye have, and give alms: provide your selves bags which wax not old, a treasure in the heavens, that faileth not, where no thief approacheth, neither moth corrupteth.

²² Now when Jesus heard [him,] he said unto him, Yet lackest thou one thing: Sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in the heavens: and come, follow me.

⁷ Philip answered him, So much bread as two hundred denarii will buy is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little.

¹³ And said unto them, It is written, My house shall be called the house of prayer, but ye have made it a den of thieves.

⁸ Those that come before me, are thieves and robbers; but the sheep did not hear them. ⁹ I am the door: by me if any man shall enter in, he shall be saved and shall go in, and to out and find pasture. ¹⁰ The thief cometh not but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. But I am come that they might have life,

¹³ Because he is a hireling, and careth not for the sheep.

²⁹ For some thought, because Judas had the bag, that Jesus had said unto him, Buy those things we have need of against the feast: or that he should give something to the poor.

¹⁰ Nor thieves, nor covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor extortioners, shall inherit the kingdom of God:

¹⁹ And not [that] only, but he was also chosen of the churches to travel with us with this grace which is administred by us to the glory of the Lord, and of your ready mind. ²⁰ Avoiding this, that no man should blame us in this abundance which is administred by us: ²¹ For providing to do honest things, not only in the sight of the Lord, but also in the sight of men.

¹⁰ Only that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.

²² Abstain from all appearance of evil.

² For if there come unto your assembly a man with a gold ring, in goodly apparel, and there come in also a poor man in vile raiment;

⁶ But ye have despised the poor. Do not rich men oppress you, and draw you before the judgment-seats?

¹⁰ When Jesus understood [it], he said unto them, Why trouble ye the woman? for she hath wrote a good work upon me.

¹² For she hath poured this ointment on my body, and she did [it] for my burial.

⁵⁷ When the even was come, there came a rich man of Arimathea, named Joseph, who also himself was Jesus isciple: ⁵⁸ He went to Pilate, and begged the body of Jesus: then Pilate commanded the body to be delivered. ⁵⁹ And when Joseph had taken the body, he wrapped it in a clean linen cloth, ⁶⁰ And laid it in his own new tomb, which he had hewn out in the rock: and he rolled a great stone to the door of the sepulchre, and departed.

⁶ And Jesus said unto them, Let her alone, why trouble ye her? she hath wrought a good work in me.

⁴² And now when the even was come, because it was the preparation, that is, the day before the sabbath. ⁴³ Joseph of Arimathea, an honourable counsellor, who also expected the kingdom of God, came, and went boldly unto Pilate, and craved the body of Jesus. ⁴⁴ And Pilate marvelled if he were already dead: and calling unto him the centurion, he asked him whether he were already dead. ⁴⁵ And when he knew [it] of the centurion, he gave the body to Joseph. ⁴⁶ Now Joseph had bought fine linen, and he took him, and wrapped him in the linen, and laid him in a sepulchre which was hewn out of a rock, and rolled a stone unto the door of the sepulchre, and departed. ⁴⁷ And Mary Magdalene, and Mary the mother of James, beheld the place where he was laid.

⁵⁰ And behold one named Joseph, being a counsellor, a good man, and a just:

³⁸ But after these things, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave: And he came and took the body of Jesus. ³⁹ But there came also Nicodemus, who at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh, and aloes, about an hundred litrae. ⁴⁰ They therefore took the body of Jesus, and wound it in linen clothes, with the spices, as the manner of the Jews is to bury. ⁴¹ Now in the place where he was crucified, there was a garden, and in the garden a new sepulchre, wherein was never man yet laid; ⁴² There laid they Jesus therefore, because of the Jews preparation, for the sepulchre was nigh.

¹¹ For ye have the poor always with you, but me ye have not always.

⁷ For ye have the poor with you always, and whensoever ye will ye may do them good: but me ye have not always.

²¹ Then said he again unto them, I go away and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: whither I go ye cannot come.

³⁵ Jesus therefore said unto them, Yet a little while is the light among you: walk therefore while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth.

³³ Little children, yet a little while I am with you. Ye shall seek me: and as I said unto the Jews, that Whither I go, ye cannot come; so now I say unto you.

⁵ But now I go to him that sent me, and none of you asketh me, Whither goest thou? ⁶ But because I have said these things unto you, sorrow hath filled your heart. ⁷ But I tell you the truth; It is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you.

⁹ Add when he had spoken these things, a cloud received him, and he was taken out of their sight. ¹⁰ And while they looked stedfastly toward heaven, as he was going, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel; ¹¹ And they said, Ye men of Galilee, why stand ye gazing? This same Jesus who is taken up from you into heaven, shall socome, in like manner as ye have seen him go into heaven.

⁴³ And when he has spoken this, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth. ⁴⁴ And he that was dead come forth presently, bound hand and foot with grave clothes: and his face was bound about with a napkin. Jesus saith unto them, Loose him, and let him go. ⁴⁵ Many therefore of the Jews who came to Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed on him.

¹⁰ And they knew him, that it was he who sat for alms at the Beautiful gate of the temple: and they were filled with wonder and amazement at that which had happened unto him. ¹¹ And as Peter and John went out, he went out together with them, taking hold of them. But those that were amazed stood in the cloister called Solomon's.

¹⁴ And beholding the man who had been healed standing with them, they could neither do nor say any thing against [it.]

³ When Herod the king had heard [it], he was troubled, and Jerusalem with him. ⁴ And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded where Christ should be born. ⁵ And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus [it is] written by the prophet; ⁶ And thou Bethlehem of the land of Juda, art thou the least among the princes of Juda? for out of thee shall come a Governor that shall rule my People Israel. ⁷ Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise-men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. ⁸ And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said unto them, Go, and search diligently for the young child: And when ye shall have found [him], bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also.

¹⁶ Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise-men.

³¹ But he said unto him, If they hear not Moses and the prophets, neither will they be perswaded, though one rise from the dead, and go away to them.

⁴⁷ Then the chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council together, and said, What do we? This man doth such miracles. ⁴⁸ And if we let him this alone, all men will believe on him; and the Romans will come and take away our place and nation. ⁴⁹ But one of the, Caiphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, ⁵⁰ Nor consider that it is expedient for you, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not. ⁵¹ But this spake he not of himself: but being the high priest that year, he prophesied that Jesus was to die for that nation: ⁵² And not for that nation only, but that also he should gather together in one, the children of God that were scattered abroad. ⁵³ From that day therefore they took counsel together that they might put him to death.

⁵⁷ Now the chief priests and the Pharisees had given commandment, that if any man knew where he were, he should declare [it], that they might seize him.

³¹ And many of the multitude believed on him, and said, Christ when he cometh, will he do more miracles than this [man] hath done?

⁴⁵ Many therefore of the Jews who came to Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed on him.

⁴⁸ And if we let him this alone, all men will believe on him; and the Romans will come and take away our place and nation.

¹⁸ For this cause the multitude also met him, for that they heard that he had done this sign.

¹⁸ If the world hate you, ye know that it hated me first, ¹⁹ If ye were of the world, the world would love its own: Because ye were not of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, therefore the world hateth you. ²⁰ Remember the words that I said unto you, my servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have observed my saying, they will observe yours also. ²¹ But these things will they do unto you for my names sake, because they know not him that sent me. ²² If I had not come, and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. ²³ He that hateth me, hateth my Father also. ²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no one else had done, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen me, and hated me and my Father. ²⁵ But that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, that They hated me without a cause.

⁴⁵ And when the Jews saw the multitude, they were filled with envy, and contradicted those words which were spoken by Paul, contradicting and blaspheming.

¹⁴ But if then ye have bitter envying and strife in your hearts, glory not, and lie not against the truth. ¹⁵ This wisdom descendeth not from above, but [is] earthly, sensual, devilish. ¹⁶ For where envying and strife [is], there [is] also confusion, and every evil work.

⁴ This was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, ⁵ Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy king cometh unto thee, meek, sitting upon an ass, and a colt the fole of an ass. ⁶ And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them. ⁷ And brought the ass; and the colt, and put on him clothes, and he sat upon him, ⁸ And a very great multitude spread their garments in the way; others cut down branches from the trees, and strawed [them] in the way. ⁹ And the multitudes that went before him, and that followed, cried saying, Hosanna to the son of David: blessed is he that cometh in the name of the Lord, Hosanna in the highest.

⁷ And they brought the colt to Jesus, and they cast his garments on him; and he sat upon him. ⁸ And many spread their garments in the way; and others cut down branches oft the trees, and strawed in the way. ⁹ And they that went along, and they that followed, cried, saying, Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord: ¹⁰ And blessed [be] the kingdom of our father David, that cometh: Hosanna in the highest.

³⁵ And they brought the colt to Jesus: and cast their garments upon him, and they set Jesus [upon him.] ³⁶ And as they went, they spread their clothes. ³⁷ And when they were come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoyce and praise God, for all the things that they had seen done. ³⁸ Saying, Blessed [be] he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Blessed be the King. Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest.

⁴⁹ Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God, thou art the King of Israel.

¹⁵ But they cried out Away with [him], away with [him], crucifie him. Pilate saith unto them, Shall I crucifie your king? The chief priests answered, We have no king but Cesar.

¹⁹ And Pilate wrote a title and put on the cross, And the writing was JESUS OF NAZARETH THE KING OF THE JEWS. ²⁰ This title therefore read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, in Greek, in Latin. ²¹ The chief priests of the Jews said therefore to Pilate, Write not, The king of the Jews, but that he said, I am king of the Jews. ²² Pilate answered, What I have written, I have written.

⁹ After this I beheld a great multitude, and no man could number them, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, standing before the throne, and before the Lamb, cloathed with white robes, and palms in their hands;

³ And they sing the song of Moses the servant of God, and the song of the Lamb, saying, Great and marvellous [are] thy works, Lord God almighty; just, and true [are] thy ways, thou King of nations.

¹⁶ And he hath on his thigh a name written, King of Kings[,] and Lord of lords.

¹ And when they drew nigh unto Jerusalem, and were come to Bethphage, unto the mount of Olivet, then sent Jesus two disciples, ² Saying unto them, Go into the village over against you, and straightway ye shall find an ass tied, and a colt with her: loose [them], and bring [them] unto me. ³ And if any man say unto you, What do ye? ye shall say, The Lord hath need of them; and straighway he will send them. ⁴ This was done, that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the prophet, saying, ⁵ Tell ye the daughter of Sion, Behold, thy king cometh unto thee, meek, sitting upon an ass, and a colt the fole of an ass. ⁶ And the disciples went, and did as Jesus commanded them. ⁷ And brought the ass; and the colt, and put on him clothes, and he sat upon him,

¹ And when he came nigh unto Jerusalem, and unto Bethany, at the mount of Olives, he sendeth forth two of his disciples; ² And said unto them, Go away into the village over against you, and as soon as ye be entred, ye shall find a colt tied, whereon never man sat; loose, and bring him. ³ And if any one say unto you, Why do you loose the colt? say ye, that the Lord hath need of him; and straightway he sends him again. ⁴ And they went away and found the colt tied by the door without, in a place where two ways met: and they loose him. ⁵ And some of them that stood there, said unto them, What do ye loosing the colt? ⁶ And they said, even as Jesus had said to them: and they let them go. ⁷ And they brought the colt to Jesus, and they cast his garments on him; and he sat upon him.

²⁹ And it came to pass when he was come nigh to Bethphage and Bethany, at the mount called [the mount] of Olives, he sent two of his disciples, ³⁰ Saying, go ye into the village over against [you], and entring ye shall find a colt, whereon never man had sat: and loosing him, bring [him] hither, ³¹ And if any man ask you, thus shall ye say, Because the Lord hath need of him. ³² And they that were sent, went away. ³³ -- ³⁴ They answered, that The Lord had need of him. ³⁵ And they brought the colt to Jesus: and cast their garments upon him, and they set Jesus [upon him.]

² Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. ³ When Herod the king had heard [it], he was troubled, and Jerusalem with him. ⁴ And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded where Christ should be born. ⁵ And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus [it is] written by the prophet; ⁶ And thou Bethlehem of the land of Juda, art thou the least among the princes of Juda? for out of thee shall come a Governor that shall rule my People Israel.

³² But they understood not that saying, and were afraid to ask him.

¹⁹ So then after the Lord had spoken unto them, he was received up into heaven, and sat on the right hand of God.

⁴⁵ But they understood not this saying, and it was hidden from them, that they perceived it not: and they feared to ask him of that saying.

³⁴ And they understood none of these things: But the saying was hidden from them, neither knew they the things which were spoken.

⁶ Remember how many things he spake unto you when he was yet in Galilee, ⁷ That the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of men, and be crucified, and the third day rise again. ⁸ And they remembred his words,

²⁵ But he said unto them, O fools, and slow of heart as to all that the prophets have spoken!

⁴⁵ Then opened he their mind, that they might understand the scriptures.

²² When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembred that he had said this: and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

³⁹ But this spake he of the Spirit, which they that believe on him, should receive: for the Holy Ghost was not yet [come] upon them, because that Jesus was not yet glorified.

²³ And Jesus answered them, saying, The hour is come, that the Son of man should be glorified.

³² God shalt also glorifie him in himself, and shall straightway glorifie him.

²⁶ But the Comforter, the Holy Ghost, whom my Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I shall say unto you.

⁴ These things have I told you, that when the hour shall come, ye may remember them that I told you. And these things I said not unto you from the beginning, because I was with you.

⁵ And now, O Father, glorifie thou me with thine own self, with the glory which I had from thee before the world was.

³³ Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath poured out upon you this, which ye now both see and hear.

³⁶ Therefore let all the house of Israel know assuredly, that God hath made that Jesus whom ye have crucified, both Lord and Christ.

¹³ The God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, the God of our fathers hath glorified his Son Jesus Christ, whom ye delivered up to Judgment, and denied him in the presence of Pilate, when he was determined and willing to let him go.

¹ Now of the things which we have spoken, [this is] the sum: We have such an high priest, who is set on the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens;

² Looking unto Jesus theauthor and finisher of the faith; who for the joy that was set before him, endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.

¹⁹ And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to him to ask him, Who art thou?

³² And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.

³⁴ And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

³⁵ He was a burning and shining light; and ye were willing for a season to rejoyce in his light. ³⁶ But I have a greater testimony than [that] of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that my Father hath sent me. ³⁷ And the Father who hath sent me, he himself beareth witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice, nor seen his shape. ³⁸ And ye have not his word abiding in you, for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not. ³⁹ Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life, and they are they which testifie of me.

¹³ The Pharisees therefore said unto him, Thou bearest record of they self, thy record is not true. ¹⁴ Jesus answered and said unto them, Though I bear record of my self, my record is true: for I know whence I came, and whither I go; but ye cannot tell whence I come, or whither I go.

³¹ The Jews therefore which were with her in the house, and comforted her, when they saw Mary that she rose up hastily, and went out, followed her, supposing that she went to the grave, to weep there.

⁴² I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people who stand by, I said [it], that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

⁴⁵ Many therefore of the Jews who came to Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed on him. ⁴⁶ But some of them went to the Pharisees, and told them what Jesus had done.

⁹ But many therefore of the multitude of the Jews heard that he was there: and they came, not for Jesus sake only, but that they might see Lazarus also, whom he had raised from the dead.

²⁶ But when the Comforter shall come, whom I will send unto you from my Father, the Spirit of truth, who proceedeth from my Father, he will testifie of me. ²⁷ And bear ye witness, because ye have been with me from the beginning.

³⁵ And he that saw [it], bear record, and his record is true: and he knoweth [Read: we know, as 21:24] that he saith true, that ye also might believe.

²⁴ This is the disciple who testifieth of these things, and wrote these things: and we know that his testimony is true.

²² Beginning from the baptism of John, until the day that he was taken up from us, must one of these be appointed to be a witness with us of his resurrection.

³² And [we are his] witnesses of these things; and also the Holy Ghost, whom God hath given to them that obey him.

⁹ If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God, because he hath testified of his Son. ¹⁰ He that believeth on the Son of God, hath the record in himself: he that believeth not the Son hath made himself a liar, because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son. ¹¹ And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life: and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that hath the Son, hath life; he that hath not the Son of God, hath not life.

² Who bare record of the word of God, and of the testimony of Jesus Christ, [and of] all things that he saw.

¹¹ Because that by reason of him many of the Jews went away, and believed on Jesus.

¹⁵ And when the chief priests and scribes saw the wonderful things that he did, and the children crying in the temple, and saying, Hosanna to the son of David; they had indignation,

⁴⁷ And he was teaching dayly in the temple. But the chief priests, and the scribes, and the chief of the people sought to destroy him, ⁴⁸ And found not what they might do to him: for all the people were attentive to hear him.

²⁶ And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou bearest witness, behold, He baptizeth, and all come to him.

⁴⁷ Then the chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council together, and said, What do we? This man doth such miracles. ⁴⁸ And if we let him this alone, all men will believe on him; and the Romans will come and take away our place and nation. ⁴⁹ But one of the, Caiphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, ⁵⁰ Nor consider that it is expedient for you, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

²¹ That they all may be as thou, Father, [art] in me, and I in thee; that they also may be in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

¹⁶ Saying, What shall we do to these men? for that indeed a notable miracle hath been done by them [is] more manifest to all them that dwell in Jerusalem, and we cannot deny [it]. ¹⁷ [But] that it spread no further among the people, we will therefore threaten them, that they speak henceforth to no man in this name.

²⁷ And when they had brought them, they set [them] in the council: and the Priest asked them, ²⁸ Saying, Did not we straitly command you, that you should not teach in this name? Behold, ye have filled Jerusalem with your doctrine, and will bring that man's blood upon us.

⁶ And when they found them not, they drew Jason, and certain brethren, unto the rulers of the city, crying and saying, These that have subverted the world, are come hither also;

² And he is the propitiation for our sins: and not for ours only, but also for [those] of the whole world.

²⁶ The woman was a Greek, a Phenician by nation, and she asked him that he would cast forth the dæmon out of her daughter.

³⁵ The Jews therefore said among themselves. Whither will he go, that we shall not find him? will he go unto the dispersion of the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?

²⁷ And he arose and went: and behold, a man of Ethiopia, an eunuch of great authority under Candace, a certain queen of the Ethiopians, who was her treasurer, and had come to Jerusalem to worship,

¹ And it came to pass in Iconium, that he entred unto them, into the synagogue of the Jews, and sospake, that a great multitude both of the Jews, and also of the Greeks, believed.

¹ But when he had passed over these nations he came to Derbe and Lystra: and behold a certain disciple was there, named Timothy, the son of a woman who was a Jewess, and believed; but his father a Greek:

⁴ And some of them believed, and consorted with Paul and Silas on account of their doctrine: and of the devout Greeks a great multitude, and the chief women not a few.

²¹ Testifying both to the Jews, and also to the Greeks, repentance toward God, and the faith which is by our Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁸ Crying out, Men of Israel, help: this is the man that teacheth all every where against the people, and the law, and this place: and hath brought Greeks also into the temple, and hath polluted this holy place.

¹⁶ For I am not ashamed of the Gospel: for it is the Power of God unto salvation, to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek,

¹² For there is no difference between the Jew and the Greek: for the same Lord over all, is rich unto all that call upon him.

³ But neither Titus, who was with me, being a Greek, was compelled to be circumcised:

²⁸ There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.

¹¹ Where there is neither male nor female, Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, barbarian and Scythian, bond and free: but Christ [is] all, and in all.

² Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him.

⁹ For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and say to this [man], Go, and he goeth: and to another, Come, and he cometh: and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. ¹⁰ When Jesus heard [it], he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no not in Israel. ¹¹ And I say unto you, that many shall come from the east and west, and shall sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob in the kingdom of the heavens. ¹² But the children of the kingdom shall be cast out into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

²¹ Wo unto thee, Chorazin, wo unto thee, Bethsaida; for if the mighty works which were done in you, had been done in Tyre and Sidon, they would have repented long ago, sitting in sackcloth and ashes.

¹⁹ He shall not strive, nor cry, neither shall any man hear his voice in the street. ²⁰ A bruised reed shall he not break, and smoking flax shall he not quench, till he send forth judgment unto victory. ²¹ And in his name shall the Gentiles trust.

²² And behold, a woman of Canaan came out of the same coasts, and cried after him, saying, Have mercy on me, O Lord, thou Son of David; my daughter is grievously vexed with a dæmon. ²³ But he answered her not a word. And his disciples came and besought him, saying, Send her away, for she crieth behind us. ²⁴ But he answered and said, I am not sent, but unto these lost sheep of the house of Israel. ²⁵ Then came she and worshipped him, saying, Lord, help me. ²⁶ But he answered and said, it is not lawful to take the childrens bread, and to cast it to dogs. ²⁷ And she said, Yes, Lord: yet the dogs eat of the crumbs which fall from their masters table. ²⁸ Then he answered and said unto her, Woman, great [is] thy faith: be it unto thee even as thou wilt: And her daughter was made whole from that very hour.

² And behold, a man named Zaccheus; He was the chief publican, He was rich, ³ And he sought to see Jesus who he was, and could not for the multitude, because he was little of stature. ⁴ And he ran before, and climbed up into a sycamore-tree to see him; for he was to pass by that way.

³⁶ And looking upon Jesus as he walked, be saith, Behold the Lamb of God. ³⁷ And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus. ³⁸ Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith onto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, which is to say, being interpreted, Master, where dwellest thou? ³⁹ He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.

⁴³ The day following, He would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip; and Jesus saith unto him, Follow me. ⁴⁴ Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter. ⁴⁵ Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him of whom Moses did write in the law, and the prophets; Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Josephs. ⁴⁶ And Nathaniel said unto him, can any good thing be from Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, come and see. ⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.

⁵ When Jesus then lift up [his] eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith also unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread that these may eat? ⁶ And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do. ⁷ Philip answered him, So much bread as two hundred denarii will buy is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little.

⁴⁰ For this is the will of my Father that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁸ Philip saith unto him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. ⁹ Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you; and yet hast thou not know me Philip? he that hath seen me, hath seen the Father; and how sayst thou, Shew us the Father?

⁸ For I say, that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises unto the fathers: ⁹ And that the Gentiles might glorify God for [his] mercy; as it is written, For this cause I will confess to thee among the Gentiles, and sing unto thy name. ¹⁰ And again he saith, Rejoice, ye Gentiles, with his people. ¹¹ And again he saith, Praise the Lord, all ye Gentiles, and laud him, all ye people. ¹² And again Esaias saith, There shall be a root of Jesse, and he that shall rise to reign over the Gentiles; in him shall the Gentiles trust.

⁵ These twelve Jesus sent forth, and commanded them, and said, Go not into the way of the Gentiles, and into a city of Samaritans enter ye not.

¹³ And they brought young children to him that he should touch them; and [his] disciples rebuked those that brought [them]. ¹⁴ But when Jesus saw [it], he was much displeased, and said unto them, Suffer very little children to come unto me, and forbid them not: for of such is the kingdom of God.

⁴⁹ And John answered and said, Master, we saw one casting out daemons in thy name; and we forbad him, because he followeth not with us. ⁵⁰ But Jesus said; Forbid him not: for he that is not against you is for you.

⁴⁰ Now one of the two which heard John, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peters brother. ⁴¹ He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Mesias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.

⁸ One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peters brother, saith unto him,

³¹ When the Son of man shall come in [his] glory, and all the angels with him, then shall he sit upon the throne of his glory.

⁴¹ And he cometh the third time, and saith unto them, Sleep on, and take your rest: the end is very near, the hour is come; behold, the Son of man is betrayed into the hands of sinners.

¹⁶ These things his disciples minded not at the first: But when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written of him, and they had done these things unto him.

¹ These words spake Jesus; and lift up his eyes to heaven, and said, Father, the hour is come; glorifie thy Son, that thy Son may glorifie thee. ² As thou hast given him power over all flesh, that every one whom thou hast given him may have eternal life. ³ And this is life eternal, that they may know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent into this world. ⁴ I have glorified thee on the earth: And I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do. ⁵ And now, O Father, glorifie thou me with thine own self, with the glory which I had from thee before the world was.

⁹ I ask for them: I ask not for the world; but for them whom thou hast given me, for they are thine. ¹⁰ And all mine are thine, and thine are mine, and thou hast glorified me in them.

⁹ But ye [are] a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, an holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should shew forth the virtues of him who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light: ¹⁰ Who in time past [were] not a people, but [are] now the people of God: who had not obtained mercy, but now have obtained mercy.

³² And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all things unto me. ³³ But he said this signifing what death he should die.

³⁶ Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickned except it die first. ³⁷ And that which thou sowest, thou sowest not that body that shall be, but bare grain, it may chance of wheat, or some other. ³⁸ But God giveth it a body as it hath pleased him, and to every seed its own body.

⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made for a little while lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man. ¹⁰ For it became him, for whom [are] all things, and by whom [are] all things, in bringing many sons unto glory, to make the captain of their salvation perfect through sufferings.

⁹ After this I beheld a great multitude, and no man could number them, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, standing before the throne, and before the Lamb, cloathed with white robes, and palms in their hands; ¹⁰ And they cry with a loud voice, saying. Salvation to our God who sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. ¹¹ And all the angels stood round about the throne, and the elders, and the four animals, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, ¹² saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might [be] unto our God for ever and ever. Amen. ¹³ And one of the elders answered, saying unto me, What are these which are arayed in white robes? and whence came they? ¹⁴ And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they who come out of great tribulation, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. ¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more, neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. ¹⁷ For the Lamb that is in the midst of the throne, shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters of life: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

³⁹ He that findeth his life shall lose it: but he that loseth his life for my sake, shall find it.

²⁵ For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it: and whosoever will lose his life for my sake, shall find it.

²⁹ And every one that hath forsaken houses, or brethren, or sisters, [or father,] or mother, [or wife,] or children, or lands for my names sake, shall receive an hundred-fold, and shall inherit eternal life.

³⁵ For whosoever will save his life, shall lose it; but whosoever shall lose it for the gospels sake, the same shall save it.

²³ And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and follow me. ²⁴ For whosoever will save his soul, shall lose it: but whosoever will lose his life for my sake, the same shall save it.

²⁶ If any man comes to me, and hates not his father, and his mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple.

³³ Whosoever shall save his life, shall lose [it:] and whosoever shall lose his life, shall preserve it.

²⁴ But this I do not value, neither count I my life dear unto my self, so that I may finish my course, and the ministry of the word, which word I have received of the Lord Jesus, to testify to Jews and Gentiles the gospel of the grace of God.

¹³ Then Paul said unto us; What mean ye to weep, and to disturb mine heart? for I am not only willing to be bound, but also am ready to die at Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus Christ.

³⁵ Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection.

¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

²⁴ Then said Jesus unto his disciples, If any one wilt come after me, let him deny him self, and take up his cross and follow me.

²¹ His lord said unto him, Well done, thou good and faithful servant; because thou hast been faithful over a few things, I will set thee over many things: enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.

³⁴ And when he had called the multitude unto him, with his disciples, he said, Whosoever will follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

⁴⁶ And why say ye to me Lord, Lord, and do not the things which I say?

²³ And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and follow me.

²⁷ My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.

¹⁶ Verily, verily I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his Lord, neither he that is sent, greater than he that sent him.

³ And if I shall go to prepare a place for you, I come again, and will receive you unto my self, that where I am, ye may be also.

¹⁵ If ye love me, keep my commandments.

²¹ He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father: and I will love him, and will manifest my self to him. ²² Judas saith unto him, not Scarioth, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thy self unto us, and not unto the world? ²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, If any one love me, he will keep my words: and my Father will love him, and I will come unto him, and make my abode with him.

²⁰ Remember the words that I said unto you, my servant is not greater than his Lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you: if they have observed my saying, they will observe yours also.

²⁴ Father, I will that what thou hast given me, they many be with me where I am, that they may behold the glory which thou has given me, for thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

²² Jesus saith unto him, If I will that he remain thus until I come, what [is that] to thee? Follow thou me.

¹ PAUL a servant of Jesus Christ, the called apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,

¹⁸ For he that in these things serveth Christ, [is] acceptable to God, and approved of men.

⁵ For we preach not our selves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and our selves your servants for Jesus sake.

⁸ We are confident, and willing rather to be absent from the body, and to be present with God.

¹⁰ For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

¹ Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; ² And walk in love, as Christ also hath saved us, and hath given himself for us, an offering and a sacrifice to God, for a sweet-smelling savour.

²³ But I am in a strait between two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:

²⁴ Knowing, that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: ye serve the Lord Christ.

¹² Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you; always labouring fervently for you in prayers, that ye may stand perfect, and fully assured in all the will of Christ,

¹⁷ Then we which are alive, and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord. ¹⁸ Wherefore, comfort one another with these words.

¹ SYMEON Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us, through the righteousness of God, and our Saviour Jesus Christ:

³ And his commandments are not grievous.

¹ JUDE the servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are beloved by God the Father, the preserved and called in Jesus Christ:

⁴ These are not defiled with women; for they are virgins: these are they that follow the lamb whithersoever he goeth: these were redeemed from among [men,] first-fruits unto God, and to the Lamb.

²⁵ At that time Jesus answered and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, because thou hast hid there things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes,

³⁸ Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful even unto death: tarry ye here and watch with me. ³⁹ And he came a little further, and fell on his face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me: nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou [wilt].

⁴² He went away again the second time, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if this cup may not pass away, except I drink it, thy will be done.

⁵³ Or thinkest thou that I cannot now pray to my Father, and he shall presently give me more than twelve legions of angel? ⁵⁴ But how then shall the scriptures be fulfilled, that thus it must be?

³³ And he taketh with him Peter, and James, and John, and began to be sore amazed, and to be very heavy, ³⁴ Then saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful unto death: tarry ye here, and watch. ³⁵ And he proceeded a little, and fell on his face, and prayed, that if it were possible this hour might pass from him. ³⁶ And he said, Abba, Father, All things [are] possible unto thee, take away this cup from me: nevertheless, not what I will, but what thou wilt.

⁴⁹ I am come to send fire on the earth, and what will I, if it be already kindled? ⁵⁰ But I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how am I straitned till it be accomplished!

⁴⁴ And being in an agony, he prayed very earnestly: and his sweat was at it were great drops of blood falling down to the ground.

⁵³ When I was dayly with you in the temple, ye stretched not out hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

³³ When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews who accompanied her weeping he was troubled in spirit, as one in a passion. ³⁴ And said, where have you laid him? They say unto him, Lord come and see. ³⁵ And Jesus wept.

⁴¹ They therefore took away the stone, and Jesus lift up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me.

²¹ When Jesus had thus said, he was troubled in spirit, and testified, and said, Verily, verily I say unto you, that one of you will betray me.

³⁷ Pilate therefore said unto him, Art thou therefore a king? Jesus answered, Thou sayst that I am a king. For this was I born, and for this came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice.

¹⁵ This [is] a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief.

¹⁴ Forasmuch then as the children were partakers of blood and flesh, he also himself likewise took part of the same sufferings: that thro death he might destroy [death] that hath the power of death, that is, the devil;

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, when he had offered up prayers and supplications, with strong crying and tears, unto him that was able to save him from death, and was heard, in that he feared;

⁵ Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou wouldest not, but a body hast thou prepared me: ⁶ In burnt-offering and [offering] for sin thou hast had no pleasure: ⁷ Then said I, Lo, I come, For in the volume of the book it is written of me, to do thy will, O God. ⁸ Above, when he said, Sacrifices, and offerings, and burnt offerings, and [offerings] for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure, which are offered by the law; ⁹ Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.

¹⁷ And lo, a voice from heaven, saying unto him, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁵ While he yet spake, behold a bright cloud over-shadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

¹¹ And there was a voice from the heavens, Thou art my beloved Son, In Thee I am well pleased.

⁷ And there was a cloud overshadowed them: and a voice came out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son: hear him.

³⁶ And he said, Abba, Father, All things [are] possible unto thee, take away this cup from me: nevertheless, not what I will, but what thou wilt.

²² And the Holy Ghost descended in a bodily appearance like a dove unto him, and a voice came from heaven, Thou art my Son, This day have I begotten thee.

³⁵ And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear him.

³ Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be manifest in him.

⁴ When Jesus heard [that], he said, His sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.

⁴⁰ Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that if thou wouldst believe, thou shouldst see the glory of God? ⁴¹ They therefore took away the stone, and Jesus lift up his eyes, and said, Father, I thank thee that thou hast heard me. ⁴² I knew that thou hearest me always: but because of the people who stand by, I said [it], that they may believe that thou hast sent me.

¹¹ Jesus therefore said unto Peter, Put up the sword into the sheath: the cup which the Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

⁷ That in the ages to come he might shew the exceeding riches of his grace, in kindness towards us, through Christ.

¹⁰ To the intent that now unto the principalities and powers in heavenly [places], might be known by the church the manifold wisdom of God,

²¹ Unto him [be] glory in the church by Christ Jesus, through out all ages, world without end. Amen.

⁶ Being confident of this very thing, that he who hath begun a good work in you, will perform [it] until the day of Jesus Christ; ⁷ Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart, inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace, ⁸ For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all, in the bowels of Jesus Christ. ⁹ And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge, and all judgment; ¹⁰ That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere, and without offence till the day of Christ; ¹¹ Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ unto the glory and praise of Christ. [God.]

¹⁷ For he received from God the Father, honour and glory, when there came such a voice to him from the excellent glory. This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁹ And they sing a new song, saying, That thou art worthy to take the book, and to [open] the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed [them] to God by thy blood, out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; ¹⁰ And hast made them a kingdom and priest: and they shall reign on the earth. ¹¹ And I beheld, and Iheard the voice of many angels round about the throne, and the animals, and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; ¹² Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, [to] receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength and honour, and glory, and blessing. ¹³ And every creature which [is] in heaven, and on the earth, and such as [are] in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I, saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, [and] unto the Lamb for ever and ever! ¹⁴ And the four animals said, Amen. And the elders fell down and worshipped.

⁸ For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both. ⁹ And there arose a great cry: and some of the Pharisees arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: What if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him?

¹ And I saw when the Lamb opened one of the seven seals; and I heard, as it were with the noise of thunder, one of the four animals, saying. Come.

⁵ And the angel took the censer, and filled it with fire of the altar, and cast it into the earth: and there were thundrings, and lightnings, and voices, and an earthquake.

¹⁹ And the temple of God was opened, which is in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his covenant: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thundrings, and an earthquake, and great hail.

² And I heard a voice from heaven, as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of a great thunder: and the voice which I heard was of harpers harping with their harps;

¹ After these things I saw another angel come down from heaven, having great power; and the earth was lightned with his glory. ² And he cried with a strong voice, saying, Babylon the great is fallen, is fallen, and is become the habitation of daemons, and the hold of every unclean and hateful spirit; and a cage of every unclean and hateful wild beast.

³⁴ But I receive not testimony from men; but these things I say, that ye might be saved.

¹⁵ And I am glad for your sakes, that I was not there that ye may believe: But let us go unto him.

⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich.

²⁸ But if I cast out dæmons by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

¹⁷ And the seventy two returned with joy, saying, Lord, even the daemons are subject unto us through thy name. ¹⁸ But he said unto them, I beheld Satan as lightning fall from heaven. ¹⁹ Behold, I give unto you power to tread on serpents, and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy;and nothing shall hurt you,

²² For the Father judgeth no man; but hath given all judgment unto the Son; ²³ That all should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son, neither honoureth he the Father who hath sent him. ²⁴ Verily verily I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath eternal life, and shall not come into judgement; but is passed from death unto life. ²⁵ Verily verily I say unto you, That the hour cometh and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live. ²⁶ For as the living Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself: ²⁷ And hath given him authority to execute judgement, because he is the Son of man.

³⁰ Hereafter I will not talk many things to you: for the prince of the world cometh, and hath nothing to find in me.

⁸ And when he is come, he will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement: ⁹ Of sin indeed, because the believe not on me; ¹⁰ And of righteousness, because I go to the Father, and ye see me no more; ¹¹ And of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged.

¹⁸ To open their eyes, and to turn [them] from darkness to light, and[from] the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them who are sanctified by faith that is in me.

⁴ In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine.

¹ And you who were dead in your trespasses and sins, ² Wherein in time past ye walked according to the course of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that now worketh in the children of disobedience.

¹² For ye wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of darkness, against spiritual wickedness in high [places].

¹⁵ And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.

⁸ But he that committeth sin, is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. For this purpose the Son of God was manifested, that he might destroy the works of the devil.

⁴ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them: because greater is he that is in you, than he that is in the world.

¹⁹ We know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in the wicked one.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil and Satan, who deceiveth the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him. ¹⁰ And I heard a loud voice in heaven saying, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brethren is cast out, who accused them before our God day and night. ¹¹ And they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb, and by the word of their testimony; and they loved not their lives unto the death.

² And he laid hold on the dragon, that old serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him a thousand years. ³ And cast him into the abyss, and shut [him] up, and set a seal upon him, that he should deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years should be fulfilled: after that he must be loosed a little season.

⁷ He came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all through him might believe.

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:

⁴⁴ No one can come to me, except the father who hast sent me, draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.

²⁸ Jesus said unto them again, When ye shall have lift up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am [he]; and I do nothing of my self; but as the Father hath taught me, I speak these things

³⁴ The multitude answered him, We have heard out of the law, that Christ abideth for ever: and how sayest thou, that The Son of man must be lift up? Who is therefore this Son of man?

¹⁷ And he bearing his cross, went forth into what is called the place of a scull, which is called in the Hebrew, Golgotha;

¹⁷ For if by one offence, death reigned by one; much more they which receive abundance of grace, and of the gift of righteousness, shall reign in life by one Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ Therefore as by one offence [it came] upon all men to condemnation: even so by one righteousness [it came] upon all men unto justification of life. ¹⁹ For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners: so by the obedience of one man, shall many be made righteous.

¹³ Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: It is written, Cursed [is] every one that hangeth on a tree:

⁶ Who gave himself a ransom for all; whose testimony was given in his own times.

⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made for a little while lower than the angels, for the suffering of death, crowned with glory and honour; that he by the grace of God should taste death for every man.

²⁴ Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we being dead to our sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose wound ye were healed.

¹⁸ For Christ also hath once died for sins for us, the just for the unjust; that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickned by the Spirit:

⁹ And they sing a new song, saying, That thou art worthy to take the book, and to [open] the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed [them] to God by thy blood, out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation;

³² That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.

¹⁹ But these things spake he, signifying by what death he should glorifie God. And when he had spoken these things, he saith unto him, Follow me.

²⁰ And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay [his] head.

¹³ When Jesus came into the parts of Cesarea Philippi, he asked the disciples, saying, Whom do men say that I am; the Son of man?

¹⁰ And when he was come into Jerusalem, all the city was moved, saying, Who is this?

⁴² Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, Of David. ⁴³ He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying; ⁴⁴ The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I put thine enemies beneath thy feet. ⁴⁵ If David then in the spirit, call him Lord, how is he his son?

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up: ¹⁵ That every one who believeth in him, should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁶ For God hath so loved the world, that he hath given his only begotten Son, that every one who believeth on him, should not perish, but have eternal life.

⁵³ Art thou greater than Abraham, who is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thy self? ⁵⁴ Jesus answered, If I shall honour my self, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me, of whom ye say, that his is your God: ⁵⁵ Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and If I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and observe his saying. ⁵⁶ Your father Abraham rejoyced to see my day: and he saw [it], and was glad. ⁵⁷ The Jews therefore said to him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? ⁵⁸ Jesus therefore said unto them, Verily verily I say unto you, Before Abraham I am.

³⁴ Jesus answered them and said, Is it not written in your law, that I said, Ye are gods?

³² And I, if I be lifted up from the earth, will draw all things unto me.

²⁵ But that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, that They hated me without a cause.

¹⁹ Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

¹⁸ Therefore as by one offence [it came] upon all men to condemnation: even so by one righteousness [it came] upon all men unto justification of life.

⁵ And the light appeareth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not. ⁶ There was a man sent from God, his name was John, ⁷ He came for a witness, to bear witness of the light, that all through him might believe. ⁸ He was not the light, but was to bear witness of the light. ⁹ He was the true light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

³³ Jesus therefore said, Yet a little while I am with you, and I go unto him that sent me.

¹² Jesus therefore spake again unto them, saying, I am the light of the world: he that followeth me, shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.

⁴ I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh when no one can work. ⁵ As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

¹⁰ But if any one walk in the night, he stumbleth, because there is not light in him.

³⁶ While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

³⁹ Therefore they could not believe, because Esaias said, ⁴⁰ He hath blinded [them], that they should not see with [their] eyes, nor understand with [their] heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

⁴⁶ I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me, should not abide in darkness.

¹⁶ A little while and ye shall see me no longer; and again, in a little while, and ye shall see me, [Because I go to the Father].

⁷ What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded: ⁸ According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, unto this day. ⁹ And David saith, Let their table be made a share, and a trap, and a stumbling-block, and a recompence unto them. ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkned, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway.

¹² The night is far spent, the day is at hand: let us therefore cast away the works of darkness, but let us put on the armour of light. ¹³ Let us walk honestly as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in chambering and wantonness, not in strife and envying ¹⁴ But put ye on the Lord Jesus Christ, and make not provision for the flesh, unto its lusts.

¹⁴ But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away, in the reading of the old testament; which is done away in Christ.

⁸ For ye were sometimes darkness, but now light in the Lord: walk as children of light,

¹⁴ Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and thou shalt lay hold on Christ. ¹⁵ See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise,

⁵ For we are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. ⁶ Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober. ⁷ For they that sleep, sleep in the night; and they that be drunken, are drunken in the night. ⁸ But let us who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breast-plate of faith, and love, and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

⁷ Wherefore, as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice, ⁸ Harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness:

⁶ For if we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth: ⁷ But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

⁸ Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in us: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. ⁹ He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now. ¹⁰ He that loveth his brother, abideth in the light, and there is none occasion of stumbling in him. ¹¹ But he that hateth his brother, is in darkness, and walketh in darkness, and knoweth not whither he goeth, because that darkness hath blinded his eyes.

⁸ And the lord commended the unjust steward because he had done prudently, wherefore I say unto you, the children of this age are in their generation more prudent than the children of light.

²¹ But he that doth truth, cometh to the light, that his deeds may be made manifest, that they are wrought in God.

⁵⁹ Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself and went out of the temple, and so passed by.

³⁹ And they sought to take him: but he escaped out of their hand, ⁴⁰ And went away again beyond the Jordan, into the place where John was at first baptizing, and there he abode;

⁵⁴ Jesus therefore walked no more openly among the Jews; but went unto the country Samphurein, near to the wilderness, into a city called Ephraim, and there continued with the disciples.

⁴⁷ For so hath the Lord commanded us, Behold I have set thee to be a light to the Gentiles, that thou shouldest be for salvation unto the ends of the earth. ⁴⁸ And when the Gentiles heard this, they were glad, and received the word of God: and as many as were ordained to eternal life, believed.

⁵ For we are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.

⁸ But let us who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breast-plate of faith, and love, and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.

²⁰ Then began he to upbraid the cities wherein most of his mighty works were done, because they repented not.

¹¹ He came unto his own, and his own received him not.

²⁴ If I had not done among them the works which no one else had done, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen me, and hated me and my Father.

⁷ Ye hypocrites, well did Esaias prophesie of you, saying,

¹⁷ But Jesus answered and said, Blessed are thou Simon Bar-jona: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my father who is in the heavens.

³⁵ and they crucified him, and parted his garments casting lots.

¹² What thou gavest me, that they they may be one as we are. While I was with them, I kept them in thy name. Those that thou gavest me I have kept: And none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled.

²⁴ But they said among themselves, Let us not rent it, but cast lots for it, whose it is, that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my garments among them, and for my vesture they did cast a lot. These things therefore the soldiers did.

³⁶ For these things were done, that the scripture should be fulfilled, Ye shall not break a bone of him. ³⁷ And again another scripture saith, They shall look on him whom they pierced.

²⁸ Was returning and sitting in a chariot reading Esaias the prophet. ²⁹ Then the spirit said unto Philip, Go near, and join thy self to this chariot. ³⁰ And Philip ran thither to him, and heard him read the prophet Esaias, and said, Understandest thou what thou readest?

²⁷ For they that dwell at Jerusalem, and her rulers, because they knew him not, nor yet the scriptures of the prophets which are read every sabbath, even they have fulfilled [them] in condemning [him.] ²⁸ And finding no cause of death in him, when they had judged him they delivered him to Pilate that he might be slain. ²⁹ And when they had fulfilled all that was written of him, they desired Pilate to crucify him, and when they had obtained that, and had taken him down from the tree, they laid [him] in a sepulchre.

¹⁶ But they have not all obeyed the gospel. For Esaias saith, Lord, who hath believed our report?

²⁰ But Esaias saith, I was found in them that sought me not; I was made manifest unto them that asked not after me.

²⁴ But unto them who are called both Jews and Greeks, Christ, the power of God, and the wisdom of God.

¹⁴ But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away, in the reading of the old testament; which is done away in Christ. ¹⁵ But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart, ¹⁶ Nevertheless when it shall turn to the Lord, the vail shall be taken away. ¹⁷ Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord [is, is] liberty. ¹⁸ But we all with open face, beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image, from glory to glory, as by the Spirit of the Lord.

³ But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost: ⁴ In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them who believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine. ⁵ For we preach not our selves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and our selves your servants for Jesus sake. ⁶ For God commanded the light to shine out of darkness, [and] hath shined in our hearts, to illuminate the knowledge of his glory, in the person of Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ To reveal his Son in me, that I might preach him among the heathen; immediately I conferred not with flesh and blood: ¹⁷ That the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, may give unto you the spirit of wisdom and revelation, in the knowledge of him; ¹⁸ The eyes of your heart being enlightened; that ye may know what is the hope of his calling, what the riches of the glory of his inheritance in the saints, ¹⁹ And what [is] the exceeding greatness of his power towards you who believe, according to the working of his mighty power; ²⁰ Which he wrought in Christ, when he raised him from the dead, and set him at his own right hand in the heavenly [places],

⁴⁴ How can ye believe, who receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that is from God only?

³⁸ But if I do, though ye will not believe me, believe the works: that ye may know and believe that the Father [is] in me, and I in the Father.

¹⁴ Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised in covetous practices: cursed children :

¹³ Therefore spake he to them in parables: that seeing, they might not see: and hearing, they might not hear, neither mind it, lest they shall be converted. ¹⁴ And then shall be fulfilled the prophecy of Esaias, which saith, Go and tell this People, by hearing ye shall hear, and shall not understand: and seeing ye shall see, and shall not perceive. ¹⁵ For this peoples heart is waxed gross and their ears are dull of hearing, and their eyes they have closed; lest at any time they should see with [their] eyes, and hear with [their] ears, and should mind it with [their] heart, and should be converted, and I should heal them.

¹⁴ Let these that are blind alone: they be blind leaders. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

¹² That seeing they may see, and not perceive, and hearing they may hear, and not mind; lest at any time they should be converted, and I should forgive their sins.

⁵² For they minded not the loaves, for their heart was blinded.

¹⁷ And when Jesus knew [it], he saith unto them, Why reason ye in your hearts, because ye have no loaves of bread? perceive ye not yet, neither mind your heart is blinded? ¹⁸ Having eyes, see ye not? and having ears, hear ye not? neither do ye remember?

¹⁸ The spirit of the Lord [is] upon me, because he hath anointed me; I am sent to preach the gospel to the poor, to preach deliverance to the captives, and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty them that are bruised,

¹⁰ And he said, Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables be, that seeing they may not see, and hearing they may not understand.

³⁹ And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world: that they who see not, might see; and that they who see, might be made blind.

¹⁹ Repent ye therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, when the times of refreshing shall come upon you, from the face of the Lord.

³ They then being brought on their way by the church, they passed through both Phenice and Samaria, declaring the conversion of the Gentiles: and they caused great joy unto all the brethren.

²⁶ saying, Go unto this people, and say unto them, Hearing, ye shall hear, and shall not understand; and seeing ye shall see, and not perceive.

¹⁸ Therefore hath he mercy on whom he will, and whom he will, he hardneth.

⁷ What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; but the election hath obtained it, and the rest were blinded: ⁸ According as it is written, God hath given them the spirit of slumber, eyes that they should not see, and ears that they should not hear, unto this day. ⁹ And David saith, Let their table be made a share, and a trap, and a stumbling-block, and a recompence unto them. ¹⁰ Let their eyes be darkned, that they may not see, and bow down their back alway. ¹¹ I say then, Have they stumbled that they should fall? By no means; but thro' their fall, salvation [is] unto the Gentiles, to provoke them to jealousy.

¹⁹ My brethren, if any of you do err from the truth, and one convert him; ²⁰ Let him know, that he who converteth a sinner from the error of his way, shall save his soul from death, and shall hide a multitude of sins.

²⁷ And he began from Moses, and all the prophets, to expound unto them in the scriptures, the things concerning himself.

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and pitched his tabernacle among us, and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

¹⁸ No one hath Seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].

³⁹ Search the scriptures, for in them ye think ye have eternal life, and they are they which testifie of me.

⁹ Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long time with you; and yet hast thou not know me Philip? he that hath seen me, hath seen the Father; and how sayst thou, Shew us the Father?

⁴³ To him witness all the prophets, that through his name whosoever believeth in him, shall receive remission of sins.

⁶ For God commanded the light to shine out of darkness, [and] hath shined in our hearts, to illuminate the knowledge of his glory, in the person of Jesus Christ.

³ Who being a beam of his glory, and the express image of his substance, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high:

¹¹ Searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ which was in them did signify, when it testified beforehand the sufferings for Christ, and the glory that should follow.

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him: And he said unto me, See [thou do it] not; I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren that have the testimony of Jesus: worship God: for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy.

³² Whosoever therefore shall confess me before men, him will I also confess before my Father who is in the heavens.

⁶⁹ Now Peter sat without in the palace and a damsel came unto him, saying, Thou also wast with Jesus of Galilee. ⁷⁰ But he denied before them all saying, I know not nor understand what thou sayst. ⁷¹ And when he was gone out into the porch, another maid saw him, and said unto them that were there, This man was with Jesus of Nazareth, ⁷² And again he denied with an oath saying I do not know the man. ⁷³ And a little after came unto him they that stood by, and said to Peter, Surely thou art one of them, for thy speech resembles their's. ⁷⁴ Then began he to curse and to swear, I know not the man. And immediately the cock crew. ⁷⁵ And Peter remembred the word of Jesus, who said, Before the cock crow, thou wilt deny me thrice. And he went out, and wept bitterly.

²² Blessed are ye when men shall hate you, and when they shall separate [you,] and shall reproach [you,] and cast out your name as evil, for the Son of mans sake.

⁸ Also I say unto you that, Whosoever shall confess me before men, him shall the Son of man also confess before the angels of God.

² He came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God : for no one can do these miracles that thou dost except God were with him.

¹³ Howbeit, no one spake openly of him, for fear of the Jews.

⁴⁸ Does any one of the rulers or of the Pharisees believe on him? ⁴⁹ But this multitude who knoweth not the law, are cursed. ⁵⁰ Nicodemus saith unto them, being one of them; he that came to Jesus by night, at the first. ⁵¹ Doth our law judge a man before it will hear him, and know what he hath done?

²² These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any one should confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.

³⁴ They answered him, and said, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? An they cast him out.

² They shall put you out of the synagogues: But the time cometh, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he doth God service.

³⁸ But after these things, Joseph of Arimathea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave: And he came and took the body of Jesus.

⁴¹ The apostles therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for [his] name.

¹⁰ For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

¹² Beloved, think it not strange concerning the fiery trial, which is to try you, as though some strange thing happened unto you: ¹³ But rejoice, inasmuch as ye are partakers of Christ's sufferings; that when his glory shall be revealed, ye may be glad also with exceeding joy. ¹⁴ If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy [are ye]; for the spirit of glory and power, and of God resteth upon you: on their part he is evil spoken of, but on your part he is glorified. ¹⁵ But let none of you suffer as a murderer, or [as] a thief, or [as] an evil doer, or as an overseer in other mens matters. ¹⁶ Yet if [it be] as a Christian, let him not be ashamed; but let him glorify God in this name.

² Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh, is of God.

¹⁵ Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

² Therefore, when thou shalt do alms, thou shalt not sound a trumpet before thee, as the hypocrites do, in the synagogues, and in the streets, that they may be glorified of men. Verily I say unto you, they have their reward.

⁵ But all their works they do, for to be seen of men: For they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge their borders. ⁶ And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, ⁷ And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men Rabbi, Rabbi.

¹⁵ And he said unto them, Ye are they who justifie your selves before men; but God knoweth your hearts: for that which is high amongst men, [is] abomination in the sight of God.

¹⁷ And he said unto him, Well done, thou good servant; because thou hast been faithful in a very little, Have thou authority over ten cities.

⁴¹ I receive not honour from men.

⁵⁴ Jesus answered, If I shall honour my self, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me, of whom ye say, that his is your God:

²⁶ If any serve me, let him follow me, and wheresover I am, these shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will the Father honour.

⁷ To them who by patient continuance in well-doing, seek for glory, and honour, and immortality; eternal life:

⁵ Therefore judge nothing before the time, until the Lord come; who both will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and will make manifest the counsels of the hearts; and then shall every one have praise of God.

¹⁸ For not he that commendeth himself is approved, but whom the Lord commendeth.

⁶ Nor of men sought we glory, neither of you, nor yet of others, when we might have been burdensom, as the apostles of Christ.

⁷ That the trial of your faith being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might befound unto praise, and honour, and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: ⁸ Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom though now ye see [him] not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable, and full of glory:

⁴ But the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

⁴⁰ He that receiveth you, receiveth me; and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.

³⁷ Whosoever shall receive such child in my name, receiveth me: and whosoever shall receive me, receiveth not me, but him that sent me.

²⁴ Verily verily I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath eternal life, and shall not come into judgement; but is passed from death unto life.

²⁸ Jesus therefore cryed as he taught, in the Temple saying, Ye both know me, and ye know whence I am: and I am not come of my self, but he that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

⁴³ And when he has spoken this, he cried with a loud voice, Lazarus, come forth.

²⁰ Verily, verily I say unto you, He that receiveth whomsoever I send, receiveth me: and he that receiveth me, receiveth him that sent me.

²¹ Who by him are faithful unto God that raised him up from the dead, and gave him glory, that your faith and hope might be in God.

⁴¹ But these things said Esaias, when he saw the glory of God there, and spake of him.

¹⁵ Who is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of the whole creation.

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding that we may know the true God: and we are in him that is true, in his Son. This is the true God, and eternal life.

¹⁶ The people who sat in darkness, saw great light: To them who sat in the region and shadow of death, light is sprung up.

⁷⁶ But thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest;for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord, to prepare his ways; ⁷⁷ To give knowledge of salvation unto his people, in the remission of their sins. ⁷⁸ Through the bowels of the mercy of our God;whereby the day-spring from on high hath visited us, ⁷⁹ To enlighten them that sit in darkness, and in the shadow of death, to guide our feet into the way of peace.

³² A light for a revelation [to the Gentiles] and the glory of thy people Israel.

⁴ And in him was life, and the life is the light of men. ⁵ And the light appeareth in darkness, and the darkness comprehended it not.

⁹ He was the true light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

¹⁹ And this is the judgement, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

⁵ As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.

³⁵ Jesus therefore said unto them, Yet a little while is the light among you: walk therefore while ye have the light, lest darkness come upon you: for he that walketh in darkness knoweth not whither he goeth. ³⁶ While ye have the light, believe in the light, that ye may be the children of light. These things spake Jesus, and departed, and did hide himself from them.

¹⁴ Wherefore he saith, Awake thou that sleepest, and arise from the dead, and thou shalt lay hold on Christ.

¹ THAT which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled of the word of life; ² For the life was manifested, and we have seen [it], and bear witness, and shew unto you also that eternal life which was with the Father, and was manifested unto us. ³ That which we have seen and heard, declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship [is] with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

⁸ Again, a new commandment I write unto you, which thing is true in him and in us: because the darkness is past, and the true light now shineth. ⁹ He that saith he is in the light, and hateth his brother, is in darkness even until now.

¹⁰ See that ye despise not one of these little ones that believe on me; for I say unto you, that their angels in the heavens do always behold the face of my Father who is in the heavens.

²⁸ Even as the Son of man came not to be ministred unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. But do you seek to increase from a little, and to be diminished from what is greater. However, when you are come and are desired to sup, do not you sit in the most eminent places, lest more honourable than thou come, and he that invited thee to supper come upon thee and say to thee, Go down still lower; and thou be put to confusion. But if thou sittest in a lower place, and one inferior to thee comes, he that invited thee will say to thee, Go and sit higher. For this will be to thy advantage.

⁵⁶ And they went to another village.

¹⁰ For the Son of man is come to seek and save that which is lost.

¹⁷ For God sent not his Son unto the world to judge the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

⁴⁵ Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father; there is that accuseth you, Moses, in whom ye have trusted.

¹⁵ Ye judge after the flesh; I judge no one. ¹⁶ And yet if I judge, my judgment is true: for I am not alone, but I and he that sent me.

²⁶ I have many things to say, and to judge of you: but he that sent me is true; and I speak to the world those things which I heard of him.

⁴⁸ He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word that I have spoken, the same shall judge him in the last day.

¹⁵ This [is] a faithful saying, and worthy of all acceptation, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; of whom I am chief. ¹⁶ Howbeit, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me Jesus Christ might shew forth all his long-suffering, for a pattern to them who should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

¹⁵ And account the long-suffering of our Lord salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given unto him, hath written unto you;

¹⁴ And we have seen, and do testify, that the Father sent the Son, the Saviour of the World.

⁴² Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, he is become the head of the corner? this [head] is the Lord's doing, and is marvellous in our eyes.

³¹ And he began to teach them, that the Son of man must suffer many things and be rejected by the elders and of the chief priests and scribes, and be killed, and after three days rise again.

¹⁰ And have ye not read this scripture? The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner.

¹⁶ For he that believeth and is baptized, shall be saved; but he that believeth not, shall be condemned.

³⁰ But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel God, being not baptized of him,

²² Saying, That the Son of man must suffer many things, and be rejected of the elders, and chief priests, and scribes and be slain, and rise again after three days.

²⁶ For whosoever shall be ashamed of me, of him shall the Son of man be ashamed, when he shall come in his own glory, and in his Fathers, and of the holy angels.

¹⁶ He that heareth you, heareth me; But he that heareth me, heareth him that sent me.

²⁵ But he must first suffer many things, and be rejected of this generation.

¹⁷ And he looked upon them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner?

¹⁷ For God sent not his Son unto the world to judge the world; but that the world through him might be saved. ¹⁸ He that believeth on him shall not be judged: but he that believeth not, is judged already, because he hath not believed on the name of the only begotten Son of God. ¹⁹ And this is the judgement, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For every one that doth evil things hateth the light, lest his deeds should be reproved by the light.

²⁴ Martha saith unto him, I know that he shall rise again in the resurrection, at the last day.

²³ And it shall come to pass, every soul which will not hear that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people.

¹⁶ In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

¹⁵ For we are unto God a sweet savour of Christ, in them that are saved, and in them that perish. ¹⁶ To the one the savour of death unto death; and to the other, the savour of life unto life: and who [is] sufficient for these things?

³ But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:

⁸ In a flame of fire, taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus:

³ How shall we escape if we neglect so great salvation? which at the first began to be spoken by the Lord, and was confirmed unto us by them that heard [him];

²⁷ And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment: ²⁸ So Christ also was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him shall he appear the second time, without sin, unto salvation.

²⁹ Of how much sorer punishment, suppose ye, shall he be thought worthy, who hath troden under foot the Son of God, and hath counted the blood of the covenant wherewith he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and hath done despite unto the Spirit of grace? ³⁰ For we know him that hath said, Vengeance [belongeth] unto me, I will recompence. And again, That the Lord shall judge his people. ³¹ [It is] a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

²⁵ Seethat ye refuse not him that speaketh to you: For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more we, if we turn away from him that is from the heavens:

¹¹ Verily verily I say unto thee, We speak that we do know, and testifie that we have seen; and ye receive not our testimony.

³² But he that cometh from above, is above all: he that is of the earth, is of the earth, and speaketh of the earth. He that cometh from heaven, testifyeth, what he hath seen and heard, and no one receiveth his testimony.

³⁰ I can of mine one self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.

³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of the father that sent me. ³⁹ And this is the will of him that sent me, that of all which he hath given me, I should lose nothing, but that I should raise it up again at the last day. ⁴⁰ For this is the will of my Father that sent me, that every one who seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.

⁴² Jesus therefore said unto them, If God were your Father, ye would love me: for I proceeded forth, and came from God; for I came not of my self but he sent me.

¹⁰ Believest thou not that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? the words that I have spoken unto you, I spake not of my self: but the Father, that abideth in me, he doth his works.

³¹ But that the world may know that I love the Father; and as he commanded me, even so I do. Arise, let us go hence.

¹⁵ Henceforth I call you not servants; for the servant knoweth not what his lord doth: but I have called you friends; for all things that I have heard of my Father, I have made known unto you.

⁸ For I have given unto them thy words which thou hast given me; and they have received them truly, because I came out from thee; and they have believed that thou didst send me.

¹ THE revelation [of] Jesus Christ, which God gave unto him, to shew unto his servants things which must shortly come to pass; and he sent and signified [it] by his angel unto his servant John:

⁶³ It is the spirit that quickneth, the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I have spoken unto you, are spirit, are life.

⁶⁸ But Simon Peter said, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.

³ And this is life eternal, that they may know thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent into this world.

³¹ But these are written, that ye might believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and that believing ye might have eternal life in his name.

¹⁶ Howbeit, for this cause I obtained mercy, that in me Jesus Christ might shew forth all his long-suffering, for a pattern to them who should hereafter believe on him to life everlasting.

²⁵ And this is the promise that he hath promised us, eternal life.

²³ And this is his commandment, that we believe on the name of Jesus Christ himself, and love one another, as he gave us commandment. ²⁴ And he that keepeth his commandments, dwelleth in him, and he in him: and hereby we know that he abideth in us,by the spirit which he hath given us.

¹¹ And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life: and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that hath the Son, hath life; he that hath not the Son of God, hath not life. ¹³ These things have I written unto you that ye may know that you who believe on the name of the Son of God have eternal life; and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
