¹ But it came to pass, that on one of the days, as he taught the people in the temple, and preached the gospel, the chief priests and the scribes came upon him, with the elders, ² And said unto him, Tell us, By what authority dost thou these things? and who is he that gave thee this authority? ³ And he answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one thing; in which Answer me: ⁴ The baptism of John, was it from heaven, or of men? ⁵ And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not? ⁶ And if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us; for they be perswaded that John has been a prophet. ⁷ And they answered, that they could not tell whence. ⁸ And Jesus said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. ⁹ And he said, A man planted a vineyard, and let it to husbandmen: But he himself went into a far country for a long time. ¹⁰ Now at the season, he sent a servant to the husbandmen, that they should give him of the fruit of the vineyard: but they beat him, and sent [him] away empty. ¹¹ And He sent another servant; and they beat him also, and treated [him] shamefully, and sent [him] away empty. ¹² And He sent a third; They wounded him also, and cast [him] out. ¹³ But the Lord of the vineyard, said, What shall I do? I will send my beloved son: it may be they will reverence him. ¹⁴ But when they saw him, they reasoned one with another, saying, This is the heir: come let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours. ¹⁵ So they cast him out of the vineyard, and killed [him]. What therefore shall the Lord of the vineyard do? ¹⁶ He shall come and destroy the husbandmen, and shall give the vineyard to others. But when they heard it, they said, may it not be so. ¹⁷ And he looked upon them, and said, What is this then that is written, The stone which the builders rejected, the same is become the head of the corner? ¹⁸ Whosoever shall fall upon that stone, shall be broken: but on whomsoever it shall fall, it will grind him. ¹⁹ And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; But they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them. ²⁰ And going away they sent forth spies, which should feign themselves to be just men, that they might take hold of his words that so they might deliver him unto the governor. ²¹ And they asked him, saying, Master, we know that thou sayst and teachest rightly, neither acceptest thou the person of anyone; but teachest the way of God in truth. ²² Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Cesar, or no? ²³ But he perceived their wickedness, and said unto them, Why tempt ye me? ²⁴ Shew me a piece of money: Whose image and superscription hath it? They answered and said, Cesars. ²⁵ And he said unto them, Render unto Cesar the things which be Cesars, and unto God the things which be Gods. ²⁶ But they could not take hold of his word before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace. ²⁷ Then came to him certain of the Sadducees who say there is no resurrection, and asked him, ²⁸ Saying, Master, Moses wrote unto us, If any mans brother die without children, having a wife, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. ²⁹ There were seven brethren with us: and the first took a wife, and died without a child left. ³⁰ And the second; ³¹ And the third; and in like manner the seven. And they left no child, and died. ³² At last the woman also died. ³³ Therefore in the resurrection, whose wife of them shall she be? for seven had her to wife. ³⁴ And He said unto them, The children of this world are begotten and beget, marry and are given in marriage: ³⁵ But they who shall be accounted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage. ³⁶ Neither shall they die any more; for they are equal unto the angels with God, being the children of the resurrection. ³⁷ Now that the dead are raised, Moses shewed at the bush, when he calleth the Lord the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. ³⁸ He is not a God of the dead, but of the living: for all live unto him. ³⁹ Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said. ⁴⁰ And after that, they durst not ask him any question at all. ⁴¹ And he said unto them, How say they that Christ [is] the son of David? ⁴² And David himself saith in the book of psalms, The Lord saith unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, ⁴³ Till I put thine enemies beneath thy feet, ⁴⁴ David calleth him Lord, how is he his son? ⁴⁵ And in the audience of all the peoples he said unto the disciples, ⁴⁶ Beware of the scribes, who desire to walk in long robes, and love greetings in the markets, and the highest seats in the synagogues, and the chief seats at feasts; ⁴⁷ Devouring widows houses, for a shew making long prayers: the same shall receive greater judgement.

⁵⁵ In that same hour said Jesus to the multitudes, Are ye come as against a thief with swords and staves to take me? I sat daily with you teaching in the temple, and ye laid no hold on me.

²⁷ And he cometh again to Jerusalem: and as he was walking in the temple, there come to him the chief priests, and the scribes, and elders of the people, ²⁸ And say unto him, By what authority dost thou these things? Who gave thee this authority to do these things? ²⁹ And Jesus answered and said unto them, I will also ask you one word, answer me, and I will tell you by what authority I do these things. ³⁰ The baptism of John, was it from the heavens, or of men? answer me. ³¹ And they reasoned with themselves, saying, What shall we say? If we shall say, From heaven, he will say to us, Why then did ye not believe him? ³² If we shall say, Of men, we fear the people: for all men knew John, that he was a prophet indeed. ³³ And they answered and said unto Jesus, We know not. But Jesus answering saith unto him, [them] Neither do I say to you by what authority I do these things.

¹ And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching, and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God. and the twelve [were] with him;

⁴⁷ And he was teaching dayly in the temple. But the chief priests, and the scribes, and the chief of the people sought to destroy him, ⁴⁸ And found not what they might do to him: for all the people were attentive to hear him.

²⁰ Jesus answered him, I spake openly to the world; I always taught in the synagogue, and in the temple, whither the Jews always resort, and in secret have I said nothing.

¹ And as they spake these words unto the people, the priests, and the Sadducees came.

¹² And they stirred up the people, and the elders, and the scribes, and came upon [him,] and caught him, and brought [him] to the council,

³⁵ And they brought the colt to Jesus: and cast their garments upon him, and they set Jesus [upon him.] ³⁶ And as they went, they spread their clothes. ³⁷ And when they were come nigh, even now at the descent of the mount of Olives, the whole multitude of the disciples began to rejoyce and praise God, for all the things that they had seen done. ³⁸ Saying, Blessed [be] he that cometh in the name of the Lord: Blessed be the King. Peace in heaven, and glory in the highest. ³⁹ But some of the Pharisees from among the multitude, said unto him, Master, rebuke thy disciples. ⁴⁰ But he answered and said unto them, I say unto you, that if these should hold their peace, the stones would cry out.

⁴⁵ But he came into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought, and overthrew the tables of the money changers. ⁴⁶ Saying unto them, It is written, My house is the house of prayer: but ye have made it a den of thieves.

¹⁸ The answered the Jews, and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, that thou dost these things?

²² For the Father judgeth no man; but hath given all judgment unto the Son; ²³ That all should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son, neither honoureth he the Father who hath sent him. ²⁴ Verily verily I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath eternal life, and shall not come into judgement; but is passed from death unto life. ²⁵ Verily verily I say unto you, That the hour cometh and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and they that hear shall live. ²⁶ For as the living Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself: ²⁷ And hath given him authority to execute judgement, because he is the Son of man.

⁷ And when they had set them in the midst, they asked, By what power, or by what name have ye done this? ⁸ Then Peter, filled with the Holy Ghost, said unto them, Ye rulers of the people, and elders of Israel, ⁹ If we this day be examined by you of the good deed done to the impotent man, by what means he is made whole; ¹⁰ Be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, even by him doth this man stand here before you whole.

²⁷ But he that injured his neighbour, thrust him away, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us?

³⁵ This Moses whom they refused, saying, Who made thee a ruler and a judge over us? the same did God send both a ruler and a deliverer, with the hand of an angel who appeared to him in the bush. ³⁶ He brought them out, having done wonders and signs in the land of Egypt, and in the Red sea, and in the wilderness forty years. ³⁷ This is that Moses who said unto the children of Israel, A prophet shall God raise up unto you of your brethren, like unto me. ³⁸ This is he that was in the church, in the wilderness, with the angel who spake to him in the mount Sina, and [with] our fathers: who received the lively oracles to give unto us. ³⁹ Because our fathers would not obey, but rejected [him,] and in their hearts turned back again into Egypt,

⁵¹ Ye stiff necked, and uncircumcised in hearts and ears, ye do always resist the Holy Ghost: as did also your fathers, so [do] ye.

² Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. ³ But he answered and said, Why do you also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

⁶⁸ And if I also ask [you], you will not answer me, nor let [me] go.

⁶ Let your speech [be] alway with grace, seasoned with salt, that ye may know how ye ought to answer every man.

⁷ And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? ⁸ But what went ye out to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? bebold, they that wear soft [clothing], are in kings houses. ⁹ But what went ye out to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. ¹⁰ This is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, who shall prepare thy way before thee. ¹¹ Verily I say unto you, among them that are born of women, there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: but he that is least in the kingdom of heaven, is greater than he. ¹² And from the days of John the Baptist, until now, the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. ¹³ For all the prophets, and the law prophesied until John. ¹⁴ And if ye will receive [it], this is Elias who was to come. ¹⁵ He that hath ears, let him hear. ¹⁶ But whereunto shall I liken this generation? It is like to children sitting in the market, who calling unto their fellows, ¹⁷ Say, We have piped unto you, and ye have not danced: we have mourned, and ye have not lamented. ¹⁸ For John came neither eating nor drinking, and they say, He hath a dæmon. ¹⁹ The Son of man came eating and drinking, and they say, Behold, a man gluttonous and a winebibber, a friend of publicans and sinners: and wisdom is justified of her children.

¹¹ And he answered and said unto them, Elias truly shall come, [and] shall restore all things: ¹² But I say you, that Elias is come already, and they knew him not, but have done unto him whatsoever they wished.

²⁵ The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? and they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not believe him? ²⁶ But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet. ²⁷ And they answered Jesus, and said, We know not. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things. ²⁸ But what think you? A man had two sons, and he came to the first, and said, Son, go work to day in the vineyard. ²⁹ He answered and said, I will not: but afterward he repented and went into the vineyard. ³⁰ But he came to the other, and said likewise. And he answered and said, I go, Sir; and went not. ³¹ Whether of them two did the will of his father? They say, The first. Jesus saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, that the publicans and harlots go ito the kingdom of God before you. ³² For John came unto you in the way of righteousness, and ye believed him not: but the publicans and the harlots believed him. And ye when ye had seen [it], repented [not] afterward, that ye might believe him.

²⁸ But I say unto you, He that is least in the kingdom of God, is greater than he. ²⁹ And all the people that heard this,and the publicans justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John. ³⁰ But the Pharisees and lawyers rejected the counsel God, being not baptized of him, ³¹ Whereunto then shall I liken the men of this generation? and to what are they like? ³² They are like unto children sitting in the market, and calling to one another, saying, We have piped, and ye have not danced: we have mourned to you, and ye have not wept, ³³ For John the Baptist came neither eating, nor drinking, and ye say, He hath a daemon. ³⁴ The Son of man is come eating and drinking; and ye say, Behold, a gluttonous man, and a wine bibber, a friend of publicans and sinners. ³⁵ But wisdom is justified of her children.

¹⁸ I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee,

⁶ There was a man sent from God, his name was John,

¹⁹ And this is the record of John, when the Jews sent priests and Levites from Jerusalem to him to ask him, Who art thou? ²⁰ And he confessed, and denied not; but confessed, I am not the Christ. ²¹ And they asked him, What then. Art thou Elias? And he saith, I am not. Art thou the prophet? And he answered, No. ²² Then said they unto him, Who are thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us: what sayst thou of thy self? ²³ He said I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, Make straight the way of the Lord, as said the prophet Esaias ²⁴ And they who were sent, were of the Pharisees. ²⁵ And they asked him, and said unto him, Why baptizest thou then, if thou be not the Christ, nor Elias, neither the prophet? ²⁶ John, answered them, saying I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; ²⁷ He it is, who coming after me, was made before me, whose shoes latchet I am not worthy to unloose. ²⁸ These things were done in Bethany (Read: Bethabara) beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.

¹⁵ John bare witness of him, and cried, This was he of whom I spake to you. He that cometh aster me, was made before me: for he was preferred to me. ¹⁶ For of his fulness have all we received and grace for grace. ¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth by Jesus Christ. ¹⁸ No one hath Seen God at any time; the only begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, he hath declared [him].

³⁰ This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man, who is made before me: for he was before me.

³⁴ And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.

²⁶ And they came unto John, and said unto him, Rabbi, he that was with thee beyond Jordan, to whom thou bearest witness, behold, He baptizeth, and all come to him.

³⁶ That he who believeth on the Son, may have eternal life: But he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

³³ Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth. ³⁴ But I receive not testimony from men; but these things I say, that ye might be saved. ³⁵ He was a burning and shining light; and ye were willing for a season to rejoyce in his light.

²⁵ And as John fulfilled his course, he said, Whom think ye that I am? I am not [he]. But behold, there cometh one after me, whose shoes of [his] feet I am not worthy to loose.

⁹ But what went ye out to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet.

⁵ And when he would have put him to death, he feared the multitude, because they counted him as a prophet.

²⁶ But if we shall say, Of men; we fear the people; for all hold John as a prophet.

⁴⁶ But when they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet.

⁵ But they said, Not on the feast, lest there be an uprore among the people.

¹² And they sought to lay hold on him, but feared the multitude, for they knew that he had spoken the parable against them: and they left him, and went away.

⁷⁶ But thou, child, shalt be called the prophet of the Highest;for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord, to prepare his ways;

²⁶ But what went ye out to see? A prophet? Yes, I say unto you, and more than a prophet, For there was no greater prophet of those that were born of women than John the Baptist. ²⁷ This is he of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before [thy] face, who shall prepare thy way. ²⁸ But I say unto you, He that is least in the kingdom of God, is greater than he. ²⁹ And all the people that heard this,and the publicans justified God, being baptized with the baptism of John.

⁴¹ And many came unto him, and said, that John did no miracle: but all things that John spake of him were true.

²⁶ Then went the captain with the officers, and brought them with violence: fearing the people, lest they should have been stoned.

¹⁹ And this is the judgement, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. ²⁰ For every one that doth evil things hateth the light, lest his deeds should be reproved by the light.

³⁹ And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world: that they who see not, might see; and that they who see, might be made blind.

¹⁰ And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness, in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth of Christ, that they might be saved. ¹¹ For this cause God sends them strong delusion, that they shall believe a lie: ¹² That they all might be judged who believed not the truth, but had pleasure in unrighteousness.

⁸ Now as Jannes and Jambres withstood Moses, so do these also resist the truth: men of corrupt minds, reprobate concerning the faith. ⁹ But they shall proceed no further: for their folly shall be manifest unto all, as theirs also was.

³ Knowing this first, that there shall come in the last days scoffers in scoffing, walking after their own lusts,

¹⁴ Let these that are blind alone: they be blind leaders. And if the blind lead the blind, both shall fall into the ditch.

⁴ A wicked generation seeketh after a sign, and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of Jonas. And he left them, and departed.

²⁷ And they answered Jesus, and said, We know not. And he said unto them, Neither tell I you by what authority I do these things.

³³ And they answered and said unto Jesus, We know not. But Jesus answering saith unto him, [them] Neither do I say to you by what authority I do these things.

³³ Hear another parable: There was an householder who planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a wine press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went away. ³⁴ And when the time of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it. ³⁵ And the husbandmen took his servants, and beat one, and killed another, and stoned another. ³⁶ Again therefore, he sent other servants, more than the first: and they did unto them likewise. ³⁷ But last of all, he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. ³⁸ But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir, come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. ³⁹ And they caught [him], and slew him, and cast him out of the vineyard: ⁴⁰ When the Lord therefore of the vineyard shall come, what will he do unto those husbandmen? ⁴¹ They say unto him, He will miserable destroy those wicked men, and will let out the vineyard to other Husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons. ⁴² Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, he is become the head of the corner? this [head] is the Lord's doing, and is marvellous in our eyes. ⁴³ Therefore say I unto you, The kingdom of God shall be taken from you, and given to a nation bringing forth the fruits thereof. ⁴⁴ [OMITTED TEXT] ⁴⁵ And when the chief priests and Pharisees had heard his parable, they perceived that he spake of them. ⁴⁶ But when they sought to lay hold on him, they feared the multitudes, because they took him for a prophet.

¹ And he began to speak unto them by parables. ¹² But he said, A certain noble man went into a far country, to receive a kingdom, and return.

¹ I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. ² Every branch in me that beareth not fruit, he taketh it away: and every one that beareth fruit, he will purge it, that it may bear more fruit. ³ -- ⁴ As the branch cannot bear fruit of it self, except it abide in the vine: so neither can ye, except ye abide in me. ⁵ For I am the vine, ye [are] the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, he bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye cannot do any [thing]. ⁶ If any one abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and they gather it, and cast [it] into the fire, and it is burned. ⁷ But if ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask whatsoever ye will, and it shall be done. ⁸ Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit, so be ye my disciples.

⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered: but God gave the increase. ⁷ So then, neither is he that planteth any thing, neither he that watereth: but God that giveth the increase. ⁸ Now he that planteth, and he that watereth, are one: and every man shall receive his own reward, according to his own labour. ⁹ For we are labourers together with God: ye are God's husbandry, God's building.

⁴⁷ Wo unto you: for ye build the sepulchres of the prophets, and your fathers killed them. ⁴⁸ Bear ye therefore witness that ye do not allow the deeds of your fathers: for they indeed killed them, but ye build [their sepulchres.] ⁴⁹ Therefore I send them prophets and apostles, and [some] of them they will slay and persecute: ⁵⁰ That the blood of all the prophets, which hath been shed from the foundation of the world, unto this generation may be required;

³⁴ Jerusalem, Jerusalem, which killest the prophets, and stonest them that are sent unto it, how often would I have gathered thy children together, as a hen her brood under [her] wings, and ye would not?

¹⁶ Ye have not chosen me, but I have chosen you, and appointed you, that you should go and bring forth much fruit, and your fruit should remain; that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, he may give it you.

⁴ Wherefore, my brethren, ye are also become dead to the law by the body of Christ; that ye should be married to another, to him who is raised from the dead, that we should bring forth fruit unto God.

³⁰ And say, If we had been in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets. ³¹ Wherefore ye be witnesses unto your selves, that ye are the children of them who have killed the prophets. ³² Ye have also filled up the measure of your fathers. ³³ Ye serpents, ye generation of vipers, how can ye escape the judgment of Gehenna? ³⁴ Therefore behold, I will send prophets, and wise men, and scribes; and [some] of them ye will kill and crucifie, and persecute from city to city: ³⁵ That upon you may come all the righteous blood shed upon the land, from the blood of righteous Abel, unto the blood of Zacharias, son of Barachias, whom ye have slain between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Verily I say unto you, all these things shall come upon this generation. ³⁷ O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, thou that killest the prophets, and stonest them who are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth [her] chickens under her wings, and ye would not!

⁵² Which of the prophets have not they persecuted? and they have slain those who shewed before of the coming of the just one, of whom ye have been now the betrayers and murderers:

² But after that we had suffered before, and were shamefully entreated, as ye know, at Philippi, we were bold in our God to speak unto you the gospel of God with much contention.

³⁶ And others had trial of mockings, and scourgings, yea moreover, of bonds, and imprisonment. ³⁷ They were stoned, they were sawn asunder, were tempted, were slain with the sword: they wandered about in sheep-skins, and goat-skins, being destitute, afflicted, tormented:

¹⁷ And lo, a voice from heaven, saying unto him, Thou art my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased.

⁵ While he yet spake, behold a bright cloud over-shadowed them: and behold, a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.

³⁵ And there came a voice out of the cloud, saying, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased: hear him.

¹⁶ For God hath so loved the world, that he hath given his only begotten Son, that every one who believeth on him, should not perish, but have eternal life. ¹⁷ For God sent not his Son unto the world to judge the world; but that the world through him might be saved.

³⁵ The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand. ³⁶ That he who believeth on the Son, may have eternal life: But he that believeth not the Son, shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him.

³ What the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son, in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin condemned sin in the flesh:

⁴ But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,

⁹ In this was manifested the love of God towards us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him. ¹⁰ Herein is love; not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son the propitiation for our sins. ¹¹ Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another, ¹² No one hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us. ¹³ Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his spirit. ¹⁴ And we have seen, and do testify, that the Father sent the Son, the Saviour of the World. ¹⁵ Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.

² Saying, Where is he that is born King of the Jews? for we have seen his star in the east, and are come to worship him. ³ When Herod the king had heard [it], he was troubled, and Jerusalem with him. ⁴ And when he had gathered all the chief priests and scribes of the people together, he demanded where Christ should be born. ⁵ And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus [it is] written by the prophet; ⁶ And thou Bethlehem of the land of Juda, art thou the least among the princes of Juda? for out of thee shall come a Governor that shall rule my People Israel. ⁷ Then Herod, when he had privily called the wise-men, enquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. ⁸ And he sent them to Bethlehem, and said unto them, Go, and search diligently for the young child: And when ye shall have found [him], bring me word again, that I may come and worship him also. ⁹ When they had heard the king, they departed, and lo, the star which they saw in the east, went before them, till it came and stood over the young child. ¹⁰ When they saw the star, they rejoyced with exceeding great joy. ¹¹ And when they were come into the house, they saw the child with Mary his mother, and fell down and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense, and myrrh. ¹² And being warned of God in a dream, that they should not return to Herod, they departed into their own Country another way. ¹³ And when they were departed, behold the angel of the Lord appeared to Joseph in a dream, saying, Arise, and take the young child, and his mother, and flee into Egypt, and be thou there until I tell thee: for Herod will seek the young child to destroy him. ¹⁴ When he arose, he took the young child and his mother by night, and departed into Egypt: ¹⁵ And was there until the death of Herod: that it might be fulfilled which was spoken of the Lord by the prophet, saying, Out of Egypt have I called my son. ¹⁶ Then Herod, when he saw that he was mocked of the wise men, was exceeding wroth, and sent forth, and slew all the children that were in Bethlehem, and in all the coasts thereof, from two years old and under, according to the time which he had diligently enquired of the wise-men.

⁷ Then they reasoned among themselves, saying, [It is] because we have taken no loaves.

²⁵ The baptism of John, whence was it? from heaven, or of men? and they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say unto us, Why did ye not believe him?

²¹ The governor answered and said unto them, Which of the two will ye that I release unto you? They said, Barabbas. ²² Pilate saith unto them What shall we do then with Jesus, who is called Christ? They all say, Let him be crucified. ²³ And the governor said, What evil then hath he done? But they cried out the more, saying, Let him be crucified. ²⁴ When Pilate saw that he could prevail nothing, but that rather a tumult was made, he took water, and washed his hands before the multitude, saying, I am innocent of the blood of this man, you shall see [to it]. ²⁵ Then answered all the people, and said, His blood [be] on us, and on our children.

⁴⁷ And he was teaching dayly in the temple. But the chief priests, and the scribes, and the chief of the people sought to destroy him,

⁵ And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not?

¹⁹ And the chief priests and the scribes the same hour sought to lay hands on him; But they feared the people: for they perceived that he had spoken this parable against them.

² And the chief priests and scribes sought how they might destroy him; But they feared the people.

⁴⁷ Then the chief priests therefore and the Pharisees gathered a council together, and said, What do we? This man doth such miracles. ⁴⁸ And if we let him this alone, all men will believe on him; and the Romans will come and take away our place and nation. ⁴⁹ But one of the, Caiphas, being the high priest that same year, said unto them, Ye know nothing at all, ⁵⁰ Nor consider that it is expedient for you, that one man should die for the people, and that the whole nation perish not.

²³ Him, being given you by the determinate counsel and foreknowledge of God, ye have taken, and by a wicked hand have fastned to a cross, and slain:

¹⁵ And killed the prince of life, whom God raised from the dead; whereof we are witnesses.

¹⁷ And if children, then fellow heirs; heirs of God, and fellow heirs with Christ: if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together.

² Hath in these last days spoken unto us by [his] Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the ages.

³⁷ But last of all, he sent unto them his son, saying, They will reverence my son. ³⁸ But when the husbandmen saw the son, they said among themselves, This is the heir, come, let us kill him, and let us seize on his inheritance. ³⁹ And they caught [him], and slew him, and cast him out of the vineyard: ⁴⁰ When the Lord therefore of the vineyard shall come, what will he do unto those husbandmen?

⁶ Having yet therefore one son, the well-beloved, he sent him also last of all, saying, They will reverence my son. ⁷ But the husbandmen said amongst themselves, This is the heir; come, let us kill him, and the inheritance shall be ours. ⁸ And they took, and killed [him], and cast him out of the vineyard. ⁹ What will therefore the Lord of the vineyard do? he will come and destroy the husbandmen, and will give the vineyard unto others.

¹² Wherefore Jesus also, that he might sanctify the people with his own blood, suffered without the gate.

⁴¹ They say unto him, He will miserable destroy those wicked men, and will let out the vineyard to other Husbandmen, who shall render him the fruits in their seasons.

⁷ When the king heard [it], he was wroth: and he sent forth his army, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt up their city.

²⁷ But these mine enemies which would not that I should reign over them, bring hither, and slay them before me. And cast ye the unprofitable servant unto the outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

⁴⁶ But Paul and Barnabas waxed bold,and said unto them, The word of God was to be first spoken to you: but seeing ye put it from you, and judge your selves unworthy of eternal life, lo, we turn to the Gentiles.

⁴² Jesus saith unto them, Did ye never read in the scriptures, The stone which the builders rejected, he is become the head of the corner? this [head] is the Lord's doing, and is marvellous in our eyes.

⁵ And when he had looked round about on them with anger, being grieved for the deadness of their hearts, he saith unto the man, Stretch forth thine hand. And he stretched it out: and his hand was restored presently.

²³ And Jesus looked round about, and saith unto the disciples, How hardly shall they that have riches enter into the kingdom of God!

¹⁰ And have ye not read this scripture? The stone which the builders rejected is become the head of the corner.

⁴¹ And when he was come near, he beheld the city, and wept over it,

³⁷ For I say, that this which is written, must be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: For These things that concern me have an end.

⁶¹ But the Lord Jesus turned, and looked upon Peter; and he remembred the word of the Lord, how he had said unto him, Before the cock crow, thou shalt thrice deny that thou knowest me.

⁴⁴ And he said unto them, These [were] my words which I spake unto you while I was yet with you, that all things must be fulfilled which were written in the law of Moses, and the Prophets, and the Psalms concerning me.

²⁵ But that the word might be fulfilled that is written in their law, that They hated me without a cause.

¹¹ This is the stone which was set at nought of you builders, which is become the head of the corner.

⁷ Unto you therefore who believe [he is] precious: but unto them who be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner. ⁸ And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offence, who stumble at the word, being disobedient, whereunto also they were appointed.

³⁴ And when the time of the fruits drew near, he sent his servants to the husbandmen, that they might receive the fruits of it.

¹⁶ Forbidding us to speak to the Gentiles, that they might be saved, to fill up their sins alway: for the wrath of God is come upon them to the uttermost.

³ Then assembled together the chief priests, and the elders of the people, unto the palace of the high priest, who was called Caiphas. ⁴ And consulted that they might take Jesus by deceit, and kill [him].

¹⁴ But when they saw him, they reasoned one with another, saying, This is the heir: come let us kill him, that the inheritance may be ours.

Then saith he unto them, Render unto Cesar, the things which are Cesars; and, unto God, the things which are Gods. ²² When they heard [it], they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

² And when they had bound him, they led [him away], and delivered him to Pontius Pilate the governor.

² And they watched him, whether he would heal him on the sabbath, that they might accuse him.

¹³ And they send certain of the Pharisees, and of the Herodians, to entangle him in [his] words. ¹⁴ And the Pharisees asked him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Tell us, Is it lawful to give capitation money to Cesar, or not? ¹⁵ But Jesus seeing their hypocrisie, said unto them, Why tempt ye me? bring me a denarius that I may see [it]. ¹⁶ And they brought [it]: and he saith unto them, Whose [is] this image and superscription? and they said unto him, Cesars. ¹⁷ But Jesus answering said, Render to Cesar the things that are Cesars, and to God the things that are Gods. And they marvelled at him.

⁵⁴ Seeking to obtain some occasion against him, that they might have wherewith to accuse him.

²⁶ But they could not take hold of his word before the people: and they marvelled at his answer, and held their peace.

²⁸ They led therefore Jesus from Caiphas, unto the hall of judgment: and it was early, and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled: but might eat the passover. ²⁹ Pilate therefore went out unto them, and said, What accusation bring you against this man? ³⁰ They answered and said unto him, If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee. ³¹ Pilate therefore said unto them, Take ye him and judge him according to your law. The Jews therefore said unto him, It is not lawful for us to put any one to death. ³² That the saying of Jesus might be fulfilled, which he spake, signifying what death he should die.

³ And through covetousness will they with feigned words make merchandise of you: whose judgment now of a long time lingereth not, and their destruction slumbreth not.

¹⁶ And they sent out unto him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men.

⁴⁹ And forthwith he came to Jesus, and said, Hail master; and kissed him. ⁵⁰ And Jesus said unto him, Friend, wherefore art thou come? Then came they and laid hands on Jesus, and took him.

¹⁴ And the Pharisees asked him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Tell us, Is it lawful to give capitation money to Cesar, or not?

² He came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God : for no one can do these miracles that thou dost except God were with him.

³⁴ But Peter opened [his] mouth, and said, Of a truth I perceive that God is no respecter of persons: ³⁵ But in every nation, he that feareth him, and worketh righteousness, is accepted with him.

¹⁷ For we are not as the rest, who corrupt the word of God: but as of sincerity, but as of God, in the light of God speak we in Christ.

¹⁰ For do I now persuade men, or God? or do I seek to please men? If I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

⁶ But of these, who seemed to be somewhat: whatsoever they were, it maketh no matter to me; God accepteth no man's person: for they who seemed [to be somewhat], in conference added nothing to me.

⁴ But as we were allowed of God to be put in trust with the gospel, even so we speak, not as pleasing men, but God, who trieth our hearts. ⁵ For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God [is] witness.

²⁵ He saith, Yes. And when he was come into the house, Jesus prevented him, saying, What thinkest thou, Simon? of whom do the kings of the earth take custom or tribute? of their own children, or of strangers?

¹⁷ What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Cesar, or not? ¹⁸ But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? ¹⁹ Shew me the tribute-money. ³⁷ After him rose up Judas of Galilee, in the days of the taxing, and drew away much people after him: he also perished, and as many as obeyed him, were dispersed.

¹ The Pharisees also with the Sadducees came, and tempting, desired him that he would shew them a sign from heaven.

¹⁸ But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites?

²² But Jesus knowing their reasonings, he answered and saith unto them, Why reason ye wicked things in your hearts?

⁸ But he knowing their thoughts, saith to the man which had the withered hand, Rise up, and stand in the midst. And he arose, and stood up.

¹⁶ And others tempting [him,] said, Give us a sign from Heaven. ¹⁷ But he knowing their thoughts, said unto them, Every kingdom divided against it self, is made desolate: and a house against a house, will fall.

⁵³ And as [he] said these things unto them, before all the people, the Pharisees and lawyers began to urge [him] vehemently, and to confer with him about many things: ⁵⁴ Seeking to obtain some occasion against him, that they might have wherewith to accuse him.

²⁰ And going away they sent forth spies, which should feign themselves to be just men, that they might take hold of his words that so they might deliver him unto the governor.

²⁴ But Jesus did not commit himself unto then., because he knew all, ²⁵ And needed not that any should testifie of man: for he knew what was in man.

¹⁹ For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God: for it is written, He taketh the wise in their own craftiness.

⁹ Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed of serpents.

¹³ Neither is there any creature that is not manifest in his sight: but all things [are] naked, and opened unto the eyes of him of whom we speak.

²⁸ But the same servant went out, and found one of his follow-servants, who owed him an hundred denarii, and he laid hands on him, and took him by the throat, saying, Pay that thou owest.

² And when he had agreed with the labourers for a denarius a day, he sent them into his vineyard.

¹ Now it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Cesar Augustus, that all the world should be enrolled.

¹ Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Cesar, Pontius Pilate being procurator of Judea, and Herod [being tetrarch of Galilee].and his brother Philip tetrarch of Iturea, and of the region of Trachonitis, and Lysanias the tetrarch of Abilene,

²² Is it lawful for us to give tribute unto Cesar, or no?

² And they began to accuse him, saying. We have found this [man] perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cesar, but saying, that he himself is Christ, the king.

²⁸ And as we conversed together, one of them named Agabus, spake, signifying by the spirit, that there should be a great famine throughout all the world: which also came to pass under Claudius.

⁸ While Paul answered for himself, Neither against the law of the Jews, neither against the temple, nor yet against Cesar, have I offended any thing at all. ⁹ But Festus, willing to do the Jews a pleasure, answered Paul, and said, Wilt thou go up to Jerusalem and there be judged of these things before me? ¹⁰ Then said Paul, I stand at Cesars judgment-seat, where I ought to be judged: to the Jews have I done no wrong, as thou very well knowest. ¹¹ For if I be an offender, or have committed any thing worthy of death, I refuse not to die: but ifthere be none of these things whereof these accuse me, no man may deliver me onto them. I appeal unto Cesar. ¹² Then Festus when he had conferred with the council, answered, Hast thou appealed unto Cesar? unto Cesar shalt thou go.

³² Then said Agrippa unto Festus, This man might have been set at liberty, if he had not appealed unto Cesar.

²² All the saints salute you, chiefly they that are of Cesar's household.

²⁷ But lest we should give them offence, go thou to the sea, and cast an hook, and take up the fish that first cometh up: and when thou hast opened his mouth, thou shalt find there a shekel: that take, and give unto them for me and thee.

²¹ They say unto him, Cesars. Then saith he unto them, Render unto Cesar, the things which are Cesars; and, unto God, the things which are Gods.

¹⁷ But Jesus answering said, Render to Cesar the things that are Cesars, and to God the things that are Gods. And they marvelled at him.

¹⁹ But Peter answering with John, said unto them, Whether it be right in the sight of God, to hearken unto you more than unto God, Judge ye. ²⁰ For we cannot but speak the things which we have seen and beard.

²⁹ [Then Peter and the apostles answered and said,] We ought to obey God rather than men.

⁶ For, for this cause pay you tribute also: for they are God's ministers, attending continually upon this very thing. ⁷ Render to all their dues: tribute to whom tribute, custom to whom custom, fear to whom fear, honour to whom honour.

³¹ Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all to the glory of God.

¹³ Submit your selves to every human creature for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; ¹⁴ Or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him, for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. ¹⁵ For so is the will of God, that with well-doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men: ¹⁶ As free, and not using liberty for a cloke of wickedness; but as the servants of God. ¹⁷ Honour all men. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honour the king.

¹¹ If any man speak, as the oracles of God; if any man minister, as of the ability which God giveth: that God in all things may be glorified through Jesus Christ; to whom [be] praise and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.

¹² And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou hither, not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless.

²² When they heard [it], they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

³⁴ But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered to him.

¹⁷ And, his adversaries were ashamed: and all the multitude rejoyced for all the glorious things, they had seen done by him.

³⁹ Then certain of the scribes answering said, Master, thou hast well said. ⁴⁰ And after that, they durst not ask him any question at all.

¹⁹ Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

¹⁰ For there are many unruly and vain talkers and deceivers, but especially they of the circumcision:

⁶ Then Jesus said unto them, Take heed and beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and of the Sadducees.

¹² Then understood they that he bade [them] not beware of the leaven, but of the doctrine of the Pharisees, and of the Sadducees.

²³ The same day came to him the Sadducees, which say there is no resurrection, and asked him, ²⁴ Saying, Master, Moses said, If a man die, having no children, that his brother shall marry his wife, and shall raise up seed unto his brother. ²⁵ There were with us seven brethren, and the first when he had married a wife, deceased, and having no seed, left his wife to his brother. ²⁶ Likewise the second, and the third, unto the seven. ²⁷ And last of all the woman died also. ²⁸ Therefore in the resurrection, whose wife shall she be of the seven? for they all had her. ²⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God. ³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, not are given in marriage; but are as the angels in heaven. ³¹ But as touching the resurrection of the dead, have ye not read that which was spoken unto you by God, saying, ³² I am the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? He is not the God of the dead, but of the living. ³³ And when the multitudes heard [it], they were astonished at his doctrine.

¹⁸ Then come unto him the Sadducees, who say there is no resurrection; and they asked him, saying. ¹⁹ Master, Moses wrote unto us, If a mans brother die, and hath a wife, and leave no children, that his brother shall take his wife, and raise up seed unto his brother. ²⁰ There were therefore seven brethren among you: and the first took a wife, and died, and left no seed, ²¹ And the second took her, and died, neither left he any seed: ²² And in like manner the seven had her, and left no seed: last of all the woman died also. ²³ In the resurrection therefore when they shall rise, whose wife shall she be of them? for the seven had her to wife. ²⁴ But Jesus answering, said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither know ye the power of God? ²⁵ For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage: but are as the angels who are in the heavens. ²⁶ And as touching the dead, that they rise: have ye not read in the book of Moses, how in the bush God spake unto him, saying, I [am] the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob? ²⁷ He is not the God of the dead, but of the living: ye therefore do greatly err.

¹ And as they spake these words unto the people, the priests, and the Sadducees came. ² Being grieved that they taught the people, and preached Jesus in the resurrection of the dead.

¹⁷ Then the high priest rose up, and all they that were with him, which is the sect of the Sadducees, and were filled with indignation,

⁶ But when Paul perceived that the one part were Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, he cried out in the council, Men, brethren, I am a Pharisee, the son of the Pharisees: of the hope and resurrection of the dead, I am called in question. ⁷ And when he had so said, there arose a dissension between the Pharisees and the Sadducees: and the multitude was dissolved. ⁸ For the Sadducees say that there is no resurrection, neither angel, nor spirit; but the Pharisees confess both.

¹² Now if Christ be preached that he is risen from the dead, how say some among you, that there is no resurrection of the dead?

¹⁷ And their word will eat as doth a canker: of whom is Hymeneus and Philetus; ¹⁸ Who concerning the truth have erred, saying, that the resurrection is past already; and overthrow the faith of some.

²⁷ And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:

⁸ And the lord commended the unjust steward because he had done prudently, wherefore I say unto you, the children of this age are in their generation more prudent than the children of light.

²⁷ They did eat, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day that Noe entred into the ark: and the flood came, and destroyed them all.

² Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have an husband peculiar to her. ³ Let the husband render unto the wife what is due: and likewise also the wife unto the husband. ⁴ The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife. ⁵ Defraud you not one the other, except with consent for a time, that ye may give your selves to prayer; and come together again, that Satan tempt you not for your incontinency. ⁶ But I speak this by permission, not by commandment. ⁷ But I would that all men were even as I my self: but every man hath his proper gift of God, one after this manner, and another after that. ⁸ I say therefore to the unmarried and widows, It [is] good for them if they abide even as I. ⁹ But if they cannot contain, let them marry: for it [is] better to marry than to burn. ¹⁰ And unto the married I command, not I, but the Lord, Let not the wife depart from the husband: ¹¹ But and if she depart, let her remain unmarried, or be reconciled to the husband: and let not the husband put away the wife. ¹² But to the rest speak I, not the Lord, If any brother hath a wife that believeth not, and she be pleased to dwell with him, let him not put her away. ¹³ And the woman who hath an husband that believeth not, and if he be pleased to dwell with her, let her not leave her husband. ¹⁴ For the unbelieving husband hath been sanctified by the believing wife, and the unbelieving wife hath been sanctified by the brother: else were your children unclean; but now are they holy. ¹⁵ But if the unbelieving depart, let him depart. A brother or a sister is not under bondage in such [cases]: but God hath called us to peace. ¹⁶ For what knowest thou, O wife, whether thou shalt save the husband? or how knowest thou, O man, whether thou shalt save the wife or not?

³¹ For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.

⁴ Let marriage be honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: for whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.

³² And whosoever shall speak a word againt the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever shall speak against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this age, neither in that to come.

²⁹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God.

²⁴ But Jesus answering, said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because ye know not the scriptures, neither know ye the power of God?

³⁶ But Watch ye and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and ye shall stand before the Son of man.

²⁹ And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that do evil, unto the resurrection of condemnation.

⁴¹ The apostles therefore departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for [his] name.

¹⁵ And have hope towards God, which they themselves also allow, that there shall be a resurrection, both of the just and unjust.

⁵ A manifest token of the righteous judgment of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer:

³⁵ Women received their dead raised to life again: and others were tortured, not accepting deliverance; that they might obtain a better resurrection.

⁴ But thou hast a few names in Sardis, which have not defiled their garments; and they shall walk with me in white: for they are worthy.

³⁰ For in the resurrection they neither marry, not are given in marriage; but are as the angels in heaven.

²⁵ For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage: but are as the angels who are in the heavens.

¹⁷ And if children, then fellow heirs; heirs of God, and fellow heirs with Christ: if so be that we suffer with [him], that we may be also glorified together. ¹⁸ For I reckon, that the sufferings of this present time, [are] not comparable to the glory which shall be revealed in us. ¹⁹ For the earnest expectation of the creature waiteth for the manifestation of the Sons of God. ²⁰ For the creature was made subject to vanity, not willingly; but by reason of him who hath subjected [it] in hope: ²¹ Because the creature it self also shall be delivered from the bondage of corruption, unto the glorious liberty of the children of God. ²² For we know that the whole creation groaneth, and travaileth in pain together until now: ²³ And not only [they], but we our selves also, who have the first-fruits of the Spirit, even we our selves groan with them in our selves, waiting for the adoption, the redemption of our body.

²⁶ For he hath put all things under his feet. But when he saith all things are put under [him, it is] manifest that he is excepted who did put all things under him.

⁴² So also [is] the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption, it is raised in incorruption:

⁴⁹ And as we have borne the image of the earthy, let us also bear the image of the heavenly.

⁵² In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump, (for the trumpet shall sound) and the dead shall arise incorruptible, and we shall be changed. ⁵³ For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal put on immortality. ⁵⁴ So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory.

²¹ Who shall change our vile body, [to be] like unto his glorious body; according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.

¹³ But we would not have you to be ignorant, brethren, concerning them who are asleep, that ye sorrow not, even as others who have no hope. ¹⁴ For if we believe that Jesus died, and rose again, even so them also which sleep in Jesus, will God bring with him. ¹⁵ For this we say unto you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain unto the coming of the Lord, shall not prevent them who are asleep. ¹⁶ For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first: ¹⁷ Then we which are alive, and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.

¹ Behold, what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called and we are the Sons of God: therefore the world knoweth us not, because it knew him not, ² Beloved, we are now the Sons of God, and it doth not yet appear what we shall be: We know, that when he shall appear, we shall be like him; for we shall see him as he is.

⁶ And I beheld, and lo,in the midst also of the throne, and of the four animals, and in the midst of the elders stood a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven horns, and seven eyes, which are the spirits of God sent forth into all the earth. ⁷ And he came and took [the book] out of the right hand of him that sat upon the throne. ⁸ And when he had taken the book, the four animals, and twenty-four elders fell down before the Lamb, having every one of them an harp, and golden vials full of odours, which are the prayers of the saints. ⁹ And they sing a new song, saying, That thou art worthy to take the book, and to [open] the seals thereof: for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed [them] to God by thy blood, out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nation; ¹⁰ And hast made them a kingdom and priest: and they shall reign on the earth. ¹¹ And I beheld, and Iheard the voice of many angels round about the throne, and the animals, and the elders: and the number of them was ten thousand times ten thousand, and thousands of thousands; ¹² Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain, [to] receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength and honour, and glory, and blessing. ¹³ And every creature which [is] in heaven, and on the earth, and such as [are] in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I, saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, [and] unto the Lamb for ever and ever! ¹⁴ And the four animals said, Amen. And the elders fell down and worshipped.

⁹ After this I beheld a great multitude, and no man could number them, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, standing before the throne, and before the Lamb, cloathed with white robes, and palms in their hands; ¹⁰ And they cry with a loud voice, saying. Salvation to our God who sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb. ¹¹ And all the angels stood round about the throne, and the elders, and the four animals, and fell before the throne on their faces, and worshipped God, ¹² saying, Amen: Blessing, and glory, and thanksgiving, and honour, and power, and might [be] unto our God for ever and ever. Amen.

⁶ Blessed and holy [is] he that hath part in the first resurrection; on such the second death hath no power, but they shall be priests of God, and of Christ, and they reign with him a thousand years.

⁴ And God will wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain; the former things are passed away.

² In the midst of the street of it, and on this side and on that side of the river, the tree of life, which bare twelve fruits, yielding her fruit every month: and the leaves of the tree for the healing of the nations. ³ And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall serve him. ⁴ And they shall see his face; and his name [shall be] in their foreheads. ⁵ And there shall be no night any more, and they shall not have need of the light of a candle, and the light of the sun; for the Lord God will give them light: and they shall reign for ever and ever.

⁹ Then saith he unto me, See [thou do it] not: I am thy fellow-servant, and of thy brethren the prophets, and of them who observe the words of this book: worship God.

³ And sent forth his servants, to call them that were invited to the marriage feast, and they would not come. ⁴ Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, tell them who we invited, Behold I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and fatlings [are] killed, and all things [are] ready: come unto the marriage feast. ⁵ But they made light of [it], and went their ways, some to their field, and others to their merchandise: ⁶ And the remnant took his servants, and treated [them] injuriously, and slew [them]. ⁷ When the king heard [it], he was wroth: and he sent forth his army, and destroyed those murderers, and burnt up their city. ⁸ Then saith he to his servants, the marriage feast is ready, but they who were invited were not worthy. ⁹ Go ye therefore into the high-ways, and a many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage feast. ¹⁰ So his Servants went out into the high-ways, and gathered together all those that they found, both bad and good: and the marriage feast was furnished with guests. ¹¹ And when the king came to see the guests, he saw there a man who had not on a wedding-garment: ¹² And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou hither, not having a wedding-garment? And he was speechless. ¹³ Then said the king to his servants, Take him by his hands and feet, and cast [him] into outer darkness: there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, ¹⁴ For the called are many, but the chosen are few. ¹⁵ Then went the Pharisees, and took counsel how they might entangle him in talk. ¹⁶ And they sent out unto him their disciples, with the Herodians, saying, Master we know that thou art true, and teachest the way of God in truth, neither carest thou for any man: for thou regardest not the person of men. ¹⁷ What thinkest thou? Is it lawful to give tribute unto Cesar, or not? ¹⁸ But Jesus perceived their wickedness, and said, Why tempt ye me, ye hypocrites? ¹⁹ Shew me the tribute-money. And they brought unto him a denarius. ²⁰ Jesus saith unto them, Whose is this image and superscription? ²¹ They say unto him, Cesars. Then saith he unto them, Render unto Cesar, the things which are Cesars; and, unto God, the things which are Gods. ²² When they heard [it], they marvelled, and left him, and went their way.

³⁰ And afterwards when his forty years were expired, there appeared to him in the wilderness of mount Sina, anangel of the Lord, in a flame of fire of a bush. ³¹ When Moses saw [it,] he wondered at the sight: and as he drew near to behold, the Lord spake unto him, saying, ³² And Moses was educated in all the wisdom of the Egyptians, and was mighty in his words and in deeds.

³² I am the God of thy fathers, the God of Abraam, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. Then Moses trembled, and durst not behold.

⁵⁷ As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that taketh me, even he shall live by me.

²⁵ Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth on me, though he were dead, yet shall he live; ²⁶ And whosoever liveth, and believeth on me, shall never die. Believest thou this?

¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more: but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

¹⁰ For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God. ¹¹ Likewise reckon ye also your selves dead indeed unto sin; but alive onto God through Jesus Christ.

²² But now being made free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life. ²³ For the wages of sin [is] death: but the gift of God [is] eternal life, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁷ For none of us liveth to himself, and no man dieth to himself. ⁸ For whether we live, we live unto the Lord; and whether we die, we die unto the Lord: whether we live therefore or die, we are the Lord's. ⁹ For to this end Christ both lived, and died, and rose again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and living.

¹⁶ And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for we are the temple of the living God; for God saith, I will dwell in them, and walk in [them]; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.

⁴ For he was crucified through weakness, yet he liveth by the power of God: For we also are weak in him, but we shall live by the power of God toward you.

³ For ye are dead, and your life is hid with Christ in God. ⁴ When Christ your life shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory.

¹⁶ But now they desire a better, that is, an heavenly: wherefore God is not ashamed to be called [their] God: for he hath prepared for them a city.

¹⁵ Therefore are they before the throne of God, and serve him day and night in his temple: and he that sitteth on the throne shall dwell among them. ¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, neither thirst any more, neither shall the sun light on them, nor any heat. ¹⁷ For the Lamb that is in the midst of the throne, shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters of life: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.

¹ And he shewed me a pure river of water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God, and of the Lamb.

³⁴ But when the Pharisees had heard that he had put the Sadducees to silence, they were gathered to him. ³⁵ Then one of them, a lawyer, asked a question, tempting him, and saying, ³⁶ Master, which [is] the great commandment in the law? ³⁷ Jesus saith unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. ³⁸ This is the first and great commandment. ³⁹ And the second [is] like unto this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self. ⁴⁰ On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.

²⁸ And one of the scribes came, and having heard them reasoning together, and seeing that he had answered them well, asked him, saying, Master, Which is the first commandment? ²⁹ But Jesus answered him, and said. The first of all [is], Hear, Israel, The Lord our God is one Lord; ³⁰ And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy strength: this is the first commandment. ³¹ But the second is like to this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thy self: there is none other commandment greater than these. ³² And the scribe said unto him, Well, Master, thou hast said the truth: for there is one God, and there is none but he. ³³ And to love him with all [thy] heart and with all [thy] power, and with all [thy] soul, and to love [thy] neighbour as thy self, is more than whole burnt offerings and sacrifices. ³⁴ And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no men durst ask him any question.

⁹ And there arose a great cry: and some of the Pharisees arose, and strove, saying, We find no evil in this man: What if a spirit or an angel hath spoken to him?

⁴⁶ And no one was able to answer him a word, neither durst any man from that hour ask him any more questions.

³⁴ And when Jesus saw that he answered discreetly, he said unto him, Thou art not far from the kingdom of God. And no men durst ask him any question.

¹ THE book of the generation of Jesus Christ, the son of David, the son of Abraham.

⁴¹ While the Pharisees were gathered together, Jesus asked them, ⁴² Saying, What think ye of Christ? whose son is he? They say unto him, Of David. ⁴³ He saith unto them, How then doth David in spirit call him Lord, saying; ⁴⁴ The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I put thine enemies beneath thy feet. ⁴⁵ If David then in the spirit, call him Lord, how is he his son?

³⁵ And Jesus answered, while he taught in the temple, How say the scribes that Christ is the son of David? ³⁶ David himself says, by the Holy Ghost, The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I shall put thine enemies beneath thy feet. ³⁷ David himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he his son? And the multitude was great, and heard him gladly.

³⁸ But he cried, saying, Jesus, thou Son of David, have mercy on me. ³⁹ And they who went before, rebuked him, that he should hold his peace: but he cried the more, Thou Son of David, have mercy on me.

⁴² Does not the scripture say, that the Christ cometh of the seed of David, and out of the town of Bethlehem, where David was?

³⁰ Therefore being a prophet, and knowing that God had sworn with an oath to him, that of the fruit of his heart* (*read loins), according to the flesh, he would raise up Christ, and to place him on his throne.

³ Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, who was made to him of the seed of David, according to the flesh, ⁴ And fore ordained the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:

¹⁶ I Jesus have sent mine angel to testify unto you these things in the churches. I am the root and the offspring of David, the bright and morning star.

²⁰ For it is written in the book of psalms, Let his habitation be desolate, and let no one dwell therein: and his office let another take.

³⁴ For David is not ascended into the heavens: but he said himself, The LORD saith unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, ³⁵ Until I make thy foes the footstool of thy feet.

³³ For thus hath God fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus Christ again; as it is also written in the first psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I will give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession. ³⁴ And that he raised him up from the dead, no more to return to corruption, he said thus, I will give you the sure mercies of David. ³⁵ He saith also in another [psalm,] Thou wilt not suffer thine holy One to see corruption.

²⁵ For he must reign, till he hath put all enemies under his feet.

¹³ But to which of the angels said he at any time, Sit on my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy footstool?

⁷ Wherefore, as the Holy Ghost saith, To day if ye will hear his voice,

¹⁴ And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, but clothed in white linen, and clean. ¹⁵ And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the wine-press of the fierceness of the wrath of almighty God ¹⁶ And he hath on his thigh a name written, King of Kings[,] and Lord of lords. ¹⁷ And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come, gather your selves together unto the great supper of God; ¹⁸ That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both [free] and bond, both small and great. ¹⁹ And I saw the wild beast, and the kings of the earth, and his armies gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. ²⁰ And the wild beast was taken, and those with him, the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the wild beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. ²¹ And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which proceeded out of his mouth: And all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

²³ Behold a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted, is, God with us.

³¹ And behold, thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and bring forth a son, and shalt call his name Jesus. ³² He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Highest;and the Lord God shall give unto him the throne of David his father. ³³ And he shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end. ³⁴ And Mary said unto the angel, How shall this be, seeing I know not a man? ³⁵ And the angel answered and said unto her, The Holy Ghost shall come upon thee, and the power of the Highest shall overshadow thee: therefore also that holy thing which shall be born of thee, shall be called the Son of God.

¹¹ For unto you is born this day, in the city of David, a Saviour, Who is Christ the Lord.

⁵ Whose [are] the fathers; and of whom as concerning the flesh is Christ, who is over all, God blessed for ever. Amen.

¹⁶ And without controversy, great is the mystery [of the word]of godliness: who was manifested in the flesh, justified in Spirit, seen of angels, preached among Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up in glory.

¹⁰ And he called the multitude, and said unto them, Hear and mind.

¹ Then spake Jesus to the multitudes, and to his disciples, ² saying, The scribes and Pharisees sit in Moses seat.

⁵ But all their works they do, for to be seen of men: For they make broad their phylacteries, and enlarge their borders. ⁶ And love the uppermost rooms at feasts, and the chief seats in the synagogues, ⁷ And greetings in the markets, and to be called of men Rabbi, Rabbi.

³⁴ And when he had called the multitude unto him, with his disciples, he said, Whosoever will follow me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow me.

³⁸ But he said unto them as he was teaching, Beware of the scribes, and publicans, who delight to go in long clothing, and to be saluted in the markets. ³⁹ And the chief seats in the synagogues, and the uppermost seats at feasts:

²⁰ But them that sin rebuke before all, that others also may fear.

¹⁵ And he charged them, saying, Beware of the leaven of the Pharisees, and the leaven of Herod.

⁴³ Wo unto you, O ye Pharisees: for ye love the uppermost seats in the synagogues, and greetings in the markets: and the highest places at feasts.

¹ But as many people encompassed him round about, insomuch that they crouded one upon another, he began to say unto the disciples, First of all beware ye of the leaven of the Pharisees, which is hypocrisie.

⁷ But he spake also a parable to those who were bidden, when he marked how they chose out the chief seats, saying unto them,

¹⁰ Be kindly affectioned one to another; with brotherly love; in honour preferring one another.

³ [Do] nothing through strife, or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than themselves. ⁴ Looking, not every man on his own things, but evey man on the things of others. ⁵ Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus:

¹⁵ Of whom be thou ware also; for he hath greatly withstood our words.

⁹ I wrote somewhat unto the church: but Diotrephes, who loveth to have the pre-eminence among them, receiveth us not.

²² Moreover I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you. ²³ And thou, Capharnaum, shalt thou be exalted unto heaven, or shalt thou descend into Hades? for if the mighty works which have been done in thee, had been done in Sodom, it would have remained unto this day. ²⁴ Moreover I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for the land of Sodom, in the day of judgment, than for you.

¹³ But wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites, because ye shut up the kingdom of the heavens before men: for ye neither go in yourselves, neither suffer ye them that are entering to enter.

²⁶ Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that within the cup, that the outside of it may be clean also. ²⁷ Wo unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites; for ye are like unto whited sepulchres. The sepulchre appears beautiful outward, but is within full of dead mens bones, and of all uncleanness. ²⁸ Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisie and iniquity.

⁴⁰ They devour widows houses, and on the pretence of orphans make long prayers: these shall receive far greater judgement.

¹² But I say unto you, that it shall be more tolerable for Sodom in the kingdom of God than for that city, ¹³ Wo unto thee, Chorazin, and Bethsaida: for if the mighty works had been done in Tyre and Sidon, which have been done in you, they had long ago repented, sitting in sackcloth and ashes. ¹⁴ But it shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon, than for you.

⁴⁷ And that servant who knew his lords will, but did not according to his will, shall be beaten with many [stripes.] ⁴⁸ But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few. To whom much is given they will require the more from him; and to whom they have committed much, of him they will require the more.

⁵ For neither at any time used we flattering words, as ye know, nor a cloke of covetousness; God [is] witness.

² For men will be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, ³ Without natural affection, truce breakers, false-accusers, incontinent, fierce, despisers of those that are good, ⁴ Treacherous, heady, high-minded, lovers of pleasures more that lovers of God; ⁵ Having a form of godliness, but denying the power thereof: from such turn away: ⁶ For of this sort are they who creep into houses, and lead captive silly women laden with sins, led away with divers lusts,

¹⁶ They profess that they know God; but in works they deny [him], being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate.

¹ My brethren, be not many teachers, knowing that we shall receive the greater condemnation,
