And they arose, and led him unto Pilate.
And they began to accuse him, saying. We have found this [man] perverting our nation, and forbidding to give tribute to Cesar, but saying, that he himself is Christ, the king.
And Pilate asked him, saying, Art thou the king of the Jews? and he answered him saying, Thou sayst [it,]
Pilate said to the chief priests and to the multitudes, I find no fault in this man.
And they were the more fierce, saying, He stirreth up the people, teaching throughout all the land, beginning from Galilee to this place.
Now when Pilate heard of Galilee, he asked whether the man were a Galilean.
And knowing that he belonged unto Herods jurisdiction, he sent him to Herod, who himself was also at Jerusalem in those days.
And when Herod saw Jesus, he was exceeding glad: for he was desirous to see him of a long time, because he had heard of him; and he hoped to have seen some miracle done by him.
And he questioned with him in many words; but he answered him nothing.
And the chief priests and scribes stood, and vehemently accused him.
And Herod with his soldiers set him at nought, and mocked [him,] and arayed him in a shining robe, and sent him back to Pilate.
But the same day Pilate and Herod who had been at enmity, were made friends.
But Pilate when he had called together the chief priests, and the rulers, and all the people,
Said unto them, Ye have brought this man unto me, as one that perverteth the people: But I having examined [him] before you, have found no fault in him[.]
No, nor yet Herod: for I sent you to him, and nothing worthy of death is done unto him.
I will therefore chastise him, and release [him.]
And they cried out all at once, saying, Away with this man, Away with this man, and release unto us Barabbas:
Who for a certain sedition made in the city and for murder was cast into prison.
Now of necessity he must release one unto them at the feast.
But Pilate willing to release Jesus, spake again to them.
But they cried in answer Crucifie, crucifie.
And he said unto them the third time, What evil then hath he done? I find no cause of death in him: But I will chastise him, and let [him] go[.]
And they were instant with loud voices, requiring that he might be crucified: and the voices of them, and of the chief priests prevailed.
And Pilate gave sentence that what they required should be done.
And he released him that for murder was cast into prison, whom they had desired; but he delivered Jesus to their will.
But as they led him away, they laid hold on one Simon a Cyrenian, coming out of the country, and on him they laid the cross, that he might bear [it] after Jesus.
And there followed him a company of people, [and] women who bewailed and lamented him.
But Jesus turning unto them, said, Daughters of Jerusalem weep not for me, nor lament; but weep for your selves, and your children.
For the days will come, in the which they shall say, Blessed [are] the barren, and the wombs that never bare, and the paps which never gave nourishment.
Then shall they begin to say to the mountains, Fall on us; and to the hills, Cover us,
For if they do these things in the green tree, what shall be done in the dry?
And there were also two other malefactors led with him to be put to death.
And when they were come to the place which is called the Scull, there they crucified him, and the malefactors together; one on the right hand, and the other on the left.
But they parted his raiment, and cast a lot.
And the people stood beholding. But they derided him, and they said to him, Thou hast saved others, save thy self, if thou beest Christ, the Son of God: If thou beest the chosen,
And the soldiers also mocked him, coming to him, and they brought him vinegar,
And saying, Hail king of the Jews, and puting a crown of thorns [on him.]
And a superscription also was written over him in letters of Greek, Latin, Hebrew, THIS IS THE KING OF THE JEWS.
And one of the Malefactors blasphemed him:
But the other answering, rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God?for we are under the same judgement?
And we indeed justly; for we receive the due reward of what we have done: but this man hath done no wicked thing.
And turning to the Lord, he said to him, Remember me in the day of thy coming.
But Jesus answered and said unto him, that rebuked [the other,] Be of good courage, To day shalt thou be with me in paradise.
And it was the sixth hour, and there was darkness over all the earth until the ninth hour.
And when Jesus had cried with a loud voice, he said, Father, into thy hands I commit my spirit: And having said thus, he gave up the ghost.
But the sun was darkned, and the vail of the temple was rent.
And the centurion cryed out, and glorified God, saying, Certainly this was a righteous man.
And all the multitude that came together to the sight, having beheld the things which were done, smote their breasts, and their foreheads, and returned.
And all his acquaintance, and the women that followed him from Galilee, stood afar off to behold these things.
And behold one named Joseph, being a counsellor, a good man, and a just:
He had not consented to the counsel and deed of them: he was of Arimathea, a city of the Jews, who waited for the kingdom of God.
He went unto Pilate, and asked the body of Jesus.
And he took down, and wrapped the body of Jesus in linen, and laid him in a sepulchre that was hewn in stone, wherein never man before was laid:
And when he had laid him, he put to the sepulchre a stone which twenty men could hardly roll.
And it was the day before the sabbath. And two women followed, who came from Galilee together, and beheld his sepulchre.
And they returned, and prepared spices and ointments; and rested the sabbath-day.
