29 And behold, they cryed out, saying, What have we to do with thee, Jesus thou Son of God? art thou come hither to torment us before the time?
30 And there was a little way off from them an herd of many swine feeding.
31 So the dæmons besought him, saying, If thou cast us out, send us away into the herd of swine.
32 And he said unto them, Go. And when they were come out, they went into the swine: and behold, the whole herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, and perished in the waters.
33 And the keepers fled, and went away unto the city, and told all things; and all that was befallen to the possessed of the dæmons.
34 And behold the whole city came out to meet Jesus, and when they law him, they besought him that he would depart out of their coasts.
Mark 5:1-20
1 And they came unto the other side, into the country of the Gerasens.
2 And when they were come out of the ship, immediately there met him out of the tombs, a man with an unclean spirit,
3 Who had [his] dwelling among the tombs, and no one could any longer bind him, no not with chains:
4 Because that he had been often bound with fetters and chains with which they bound him; and he had plucked them asunder, and the fetters had been broken in pieces: neither could any one tame him.
5 And night and day, he was in the tombs, and in the mountains, crying, and cutting himself with stones.
6 But when he saw Jesus afar off, he ran and worshiped him,
7 And cried with a loud voice, and said, What have I to do with thee, Jesus, thou Son of the most high God? I adjure thee by God, that thou torment me not.
8 For Jesus said unto him, Come out of the man, thou unclean spirit.
9 And he asked him, What is thy name? And he answered, My name is Legion: for we are many.
10 And besought him much, that he would not send them away out of the country.
11 Now there was there nigh unto the mountain, an herd of swine feeding.
12 And the dæmons besought him, saying, Send us into the swine, that we may go away unto them.
13 And forthwith the Lord Jesus [sent them] into the swine. And the unclean spirits went out, and entred into the swine, and the herd ran violently down a steep place into the sea, about two thousand, and were choked in the sea.
14 And they that fed them fled, and told [it] unto the city, and unto the country. And they went out to see what it was that was done.
15 And they come to Jesus, and see him sitting, and clothed, and in his right mind, and they were afraid.
16 But they that saw [it], told them how it happened to the dæmoniack himself, and also concerning the swine.
17 And they prayed him to depart out of their coasts.
18 And when he came into the ship, the dæmoniack began to pray him that he might be with him.
19 And Jesus suffered him not, and saith unto him, Go home to thy friends, and tell them how many things God hath done for thee, and because he hath had compassion on thee.
20 And he departed, and began to publish in Decapolis, how many things Jesus had done for him; and all men did marvel.
