¹² And on the morrow as they came from Bethany, he was hungry.

² And when he had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterwards an hungred.

¹⁸ Now in the morning as he passed by into the city, he hungred. ¹⁹ And when he saw one fig-tree in the way, he came to it, and found nothing thereon, but leaves only, and said unto it, Let no fruit grow on thee henceforward for ever, And presently the fig-tree withered away. ²⁰ And when the disciples saw [it], they marvelled, saying, How soon is the fig tree withered away? ²¹ Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith and doubt not, ye shall not only do this to the fig-tree, but if ye shall say also unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea, it shall be done, ²² And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

² Being forty days tempted of Satan;and in those days he did eat nothing: and when they were ended, he hungred.

⁶ No Jacobs well was thee. Jesus therefore being wearied with the journey, sat thus on the well: and it was the sixth hour. ⁷ There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water; Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.

³¹ In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat. ³² But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of. ³³ Therefore said the disciples among themselves, Hath any man brought him [ought] to eat?

²⁸ After this, Jesus knowing that all things were already accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.

¹⁷ Wherefore in all things it behoved him to be made like unto his brethren; that he might be a merciful and faithful high priest, in things [pertaining] to God, to make reconciliation for the sins of the people:
