¹⁴ And when he came to [his] disciples, he saw a great multitude with them, and the scribes questioning with them.

¹⁴ And when he was come to the multitude, there came to him a man, kneeling down before him, and saying, ¹⁵ Lord, have mercy on my son, for he is lunatick, and sore vexed: for sometimes he falleth into the fire, and often into the water. ¹⁶ And I brought him to thy disciples, and they could not cure him. ¹⁷ Then Jesus answered and said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I suffer you? bring him hither to me. ¹⁸ And Jesus rebuked the dæmon, and he departed out of him: and the child was cured from that very hour. ¹⁹ Then came the disciples to Jesus apart, and said, Why could not we cast him out? ²⁰ And he saith unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye shall have faith as a grain of mustard-seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place, and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.

⁶ But there were certain of the scribes sitting there, and reasoning in their hearts, saying,

²⁸ And say unto him, By what authority dost thou these things? Who gave thee this authority to do these things?

¹⁴ And the Pharisees asked him, Master, we know that thou art true, and carest for no man: for thou regardest not the person of men, but teachest the way of God in truth: Tell us, Is it lawful to give capitation money to Cesar, or not?

³⁷ And it came to pass on the next day, when he was come down from the mountain, a great multitude came together to him. ³⁸ And behold, a man of the multitude cried out, saying, Master, I beseech thee look upon my Son, for he is mine only child. ³⁹ And lo, a spirit taketh him, and he suddenly crieth out, and it teareth him with foaming, and bruising him, hardly departeth from him. ⁴⁰ And I besought thy disciples to set him free, and they could not. ⁴¹ And Jesus answering, said, O faithless and perverse generation, how long shall I be with you, and suffer you? Bring thy son hither. ⁴² And as he was yet a coming, the daemon threw him down, and disordered [him]: and Jesus rebuked the unclean Spirit, and it left him, and he delivered him to his father.

⁵³ And as [he] said these things unto them, before all the people, the Pharisees and lawyers began to urge [him] vehemently, and to confer with him about many things: ⁵⁴ Seeking to obtain some occasion against him, that they might have wherewith to accuse him.

³ For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.
