⁵ And said, For this cause shall a man eave father and mother, and shall cleave to his wife and they two shall be one flesh.

⁵ And Jesus answered and said, For the hardness of your heart, Moses wrote this precept. ⁶ But from the beginning, God made male and female. ⁷ And he said, For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife: ⁸ And they two shall be one flesh: so then they are no longer two, but one flesh. ⁹ What God hath joined, let not man put asunder.

⁹ [Let] love [be] without dissimulation. Abhor that which is evil, cleave to that which is good.

¹⁶ Know ye not that he that is joined to an harlot, is one body? for two, saith he, shall be one flesh.

² Nevertheless, [to avoid] fornication, let every man have his own wife, and let every woman have an husband peculiar to her.

⁴ The wife hath not power of her own body, but the husband: and likewise also the husband hath not power of his own body, but the wife.

³¹ For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh.
