¹² Saying, That these last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, who have born the burden and heat of the day.

⁵⁵ And when [ye see] the south-wind blow, ye say, that there will be heat; and it cometh to pass.

¹⁰ But when thou shall be invited sit down in the lowest place; that when he that inviteth thee shall come, he may say unto thee, Friend, go up higher: And then shalt thou have respect in the presence of them that sit at meat with thee. ¹¹ For whosoever exalteth himself, shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself, shall be exalted.

²⁹ And he answering, said to his father, Lo, these many years do I serve thee, neither transgressed I at any time thy commandment, and yet thou at no time gavest me a kid, out of the goats, that I might dine with my friends: ³⁰ But for thy son who hath devoured all he had with harlots, when he came thou hast killed the fatted calf.

¹¹ The Pharisee stood by himself and prayed thus, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men [are], extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. ¹² I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I posses.

²² Even the righteousness of God by faith of Jesus Christ unto all, and upon all them that believe; for there is no difference: ²³ For all have sinned; and come short of the glory of God; ²⁴ Being justified freely by his grace, through the redemption that is in Jesus Christ:

²⁷ Where [is] boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? No: but of the law of faith.

³⁰ Seeing [it is] one God, who shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

³⁰ What shall we say then? That the Gentiles who follow not after righteousness, have attained to righteousness, even the righteousness which is of faith: ³¹ But Israel, which followed after the law, hath not attained to the law of righteousness. ³² Wherefore? Because it was not by faith, but as it were by the works of the law: They stumbled at that stumbling stone;

¹ Brethren, my heart's desire and prayer to God for Israel [is], that they might be saved. ² For I bear them record, that they have a Zeal of God, but not according to knowledge. ³ For they being ignorant of God's righteousness, and going about to establish their own, have not submitted themselves unto the righteousness of God.

⁵ Even so then at this present time also there is a remnant according to the election of grace. ⁶ And if by grace, then [is it] no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace.

¹¹ Even unto this present hour, we both hunger, and thirst, and are naked, and are buffeted, and have no certain dwelling-place;

²³ Are they ministers of Christ? I speak as a fool, I [am] more: in labours more abundant, in prisons more frequent, in stripes above measure, in deaths oft. ²⁴ Of the Jews five times received I forty [stripes] save one. ²⁵ Thrice was I beaten with rods, once was I stoned, thrice I suffered shipwreck; a night and a day I have been in the deep: ²⁶ In journeyings often, in perils of waters, in perils of robbers, in perils by countrymen, in perils by the heathen, in perils in the city, in perils in the wilderness, in perils in the sea, in perils among false brethren; ²⁷ In weariness and painfulness, in watchings often, in hunger and thirst, in fastings often, in cold and nakedness. ²⁸ Besides the things that are without, that which I confider of daily, the sollicitude for all the churches.

⁶ That the Gentiles should be fellow-heirs; and of the same body, and partakers of the promise in Christ, by the gospel:

¹¹ For [where] the sun is risen with a burning heat, it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
