⁴ Who are Israelites; to whom is the adoption, and the glory, and the covenant, and the giving of the law, and the service of God, and the promise;

³³ Hear another parable: There was an householder who planted a vineyard, and hedged it round about, and digged a wine press in it, and built a tower, and let it out to husbandmen, and went away.

⁵⁴ He hath holpen his servant Israel, to remember [his] mercy, ⁵⁵ As he spake to our fathers, to Abraham, and to his seed for ever.

⁶⁹ And hath raised an horn of salvation for us, in the house of David his Servant; ⁷⁰ Ashe spake by the mouth of his holy prophets, who have been since the world began; ⁷¹ Salvation from the hand of our enemies, and of all that hate us. ⁷² To perform the mercy to our fathers, to remember his holy covenant; ⁷³ The oath which he sware to our father Abraham, ⁷⁴ To grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hands of our enemies, might serve him without fear, ⁷⁵ In holiness and righteousness before him, all our days.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth by Jesus Christ.

⁴⁷ Jesus saw Nathaniel coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile.

³⁹ For the promise is ours, and to our children, and to all that are afar off, as many as the Lord our God shall call.

²⁵ Yeare the children of the prophets, and of the covenant which God made with our fathers, saying unto Abraham, And in thy seed shall all the families of the earth be blessed. ²⁶ Unto you first, God having raised up his Son, sent him forth to bless [you,] in turning away every one from your iniquities.

³² And we declare unto you glad tidings, the promise which was made unto our fathers. ³³ For thus hath God fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus Christ again; as it is also written in the first psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee. Ask of me, and I will give thee the heathen for thine inheritance, and the utmost parts of the earth for thy possession.

² Much every way: chiefly, because that unto them were committed the oracles of God.

¹⁵ For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

⁶ Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For all that are of Israel, are not Israelites.

¹² That at that time ye were without Christ, being aliens from the commonwealth of Israel, and strangers from the covenants of promise, having no hope, and without God in the world:

¹³ For when God made promise to Abraham, because he could swear by no greater, he sware by himself, ¹⁴ Saying, Surely, blessing, I will bless thee, and multiplying, I will multiply thee. ¹⁵ And so after he had patiently endured, he obtained the promise. ¹⁶ For men swear by the greater: and an oath for confirmation [is] to them an end of all strife. ¹⁷ Wherein God willing more abundantly to shew unto the heirs of promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed [it] by an oath:

⁶ But now hath he obtained a more excellent ministry for thee, by how much he is the mediator of a better covenant, which was established upon better promises. ⁷ For if that first had been faultless, then should no place have been sought for a second. ⁸ For finding fault with them, he saith, Behold the days come, saith the Lord, whn I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and the house of Judah: ⁹ Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day when I took them by the hand to lead them out of the land of Egypt; because they continued not in my covenant, and I regarded them not, saith the Lord. ¹⁰ For this [is] my covenant that I will make with the house of Israel after those days, saith the Lord; I will put my laws into their mind, and write them in their hearts: and I will be to them a God, and they shall be to me a people.

¹ Then verily the first had also ordinances of divine service, and a worldly sanctuary.

³ And after the second veil, the tabernacle which is called the holiest of all:

¹⁰ [Being] only in meats, and drinks, and divers washings, and carnal ordinances imposed until the time of reformation.
