1 Peter 5 Cross References - Williams

1 So, as a joint-elder with them, a witness of the suffering borne by Christ, and a sharer of the glory that is to be uncovered, I beg the elders among you, 2 be shepherds of the flock of God that is among you, not as though you had to but of your own free will, not from the motive of personal profit but freely, 3 and not as domineering over those in your charge but proving yourselves models for the flock to imitate; 4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the glorious crown that never fades. 5 You younger men, on your part, must be submissive to the elders. And you must all put on the servant's apron of humility to one another, because God opposes the haughty but bestows His unmerited favor on the humble. 6 Therefore humbly submit to God's strong hand, so that at the proper time He may exalt you. 7 Cast every worry you have upon Him, because He cares for you. 8 Be calm and alert. Your opponent the devil is always prowling about like a roaring lion, trying to devour you. 9 Resist him and be strong in faith, because you know that your brotherhood all over the world is experiencing the same sort of sufferings. 10 And God, the giver of every spiritual blessing, who through your union with Christ has called you to His eternal glory, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself make you perfect, firm, and strong, 11 To Him be dominion forever. Amen. 12 By Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I regard him, I have written you this short letter, to encourage you and to testify that this is the true, unmerited favor of God. Stand firm in it. 13 Your sister-church in Babylon, chosen along with you, and Mark my son, wish to be remembered to you. 14 Greet one another with a kiss of love. Peace to all of you that are in union with Christ.

5 for our preaching of the good news came to you not entirely in words but with power and with the Holy Spirit and with absolute certainty (for you know the kind of men we were among you for your own sakes). 6 And you followed the example set by us and by the Lord, because you welcomed our message with a joy inspired by the Holy Spirit, in spite of the painful persecutions it brought you,

1 Thessalonians 2:12

12 to live lives worthy of God who calls you into His kingdom and His glory.

1 Thessalonians 2:15-16

15 who killed the Lord Jesus and persecuted the prophets and us; and who continue to displease God and show themselves in opposition to all mankind, 16 by trying to keep us from speaking to the heathen, so that they may be saved, so as always to fill to the brim the cup of their sins. But at last God's wrath has come upon them.

1 Thessalonians 3:3

3 so that none of you might be deceived amid these difficulties. For you knew yourselves that this is our appointed lot,

1 Thessalonians 5:6-8

6 So let us stop sleeping as others do, but let us stay awake and keep sober. 7 For those who sleep at night and those who get drunk are drunken at night, 8 but let us who belong to the day keep sober, clothed with faith and love for a coat of mail and with the hope of salvation for a helmet.

1 Thessalonians 5:26

26 Greet all the brothers with a sacred kiss.

2 Thessalonians 1:1

1 Paul, Silvanus, and Timothy to the Thessalonian church in union with God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ:

2 Thessalonians 1:7-10

7 and to give rest to you who are being crushed with sorrows, along with us, at the unveiling of our Lord Jesus Christ from heaven, with His mighty angels 8 in a flame of fire, who will take vengeance on those who do not know God, that is, those who will not listen to the good news of our Lord Jesus. 9 These will receive the punishment of eternal destruction as exiles from the presence of the Lord and His glorious might, 10 when on that day He comes to be glorified in His consecrated ones and to be admired by all who believe in Him because our testimony has been confidently accepted among you.

2 Thessalonians 2:14

14 and to this end He called you by our preaching of the good news, so that you may obtain the glory of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Thessalonians 2:17

17 encourage your hearts and strengthen you in every good thing you do or say.

2 Thessalonians 3:3

3 But the Lord is to be trusted, and He will give you strength and guard you from the evil one.

2 Thessalonians 3:9

9 Not that I have no right to be supported, but to make myself an example for you to follow.

1 Timothy 2:6

6 who gave Himself as a ransom for all, a fact that was testified to at the proper time,

1 Timothy 2:9

9 I want the women, on their part, to dress becomingly, that is, modestly and sensibly, not adorning themselves with braided hair and gold or pearls or expensive dresses,

1 Timothy 2:15

15 But women will be saved through motherhood, if they continue to live in faith, love, and purity, blended with good sense.

1 Timothy 3:2

2 So the pastor must be a man above reproach, must have only one wife, must be temperate, sensible, well-behaved, hospitable, skillful in teaching; 3 not addicted to strong drink, not pugnacious, gentle and not contentious, not avaricious,

1 Timothy 3:8

8 Deacons, too, must be serious, sincere in their talk, not addicted to strong drink or dishonest gain,

1 Timothy 3:11

11 The deaconesses too must be serious, not gossips; they must be temperate and perfectly trustworthy.

1 Timothy 4:12

12 Let no one think little of you because you are young, but always set an example for believers, in speech, conduct, love, faith, and purity.

1 Timothy 5:1

1 Never reprove an older man, but always appeal to him as a father. Treat younger men like brothers,

1 Timothy 5:19

19 Make it a rule not to consider a charge preferred against an elder, unless it is supported by two or three witnesses.

1 Timothy 6:12

12 Keep up the good fight for the faith. Keep your hold on eternal life, to which God called you, when before many witnesses you made the good profession of faith.

2 Timothy 1:9

9 For He saved us and called us with a holy call, not in accordance with anything that we had done, but in accordance with His own purpose and unmerited favor which was shown us through union with Christ Jesus eternal ages ago,

2 Timothy 2:10

10 For this reason I am bearing anything for the sake of His chosen people, so that they too may obtain the salvation that comes through Christ Jesus and with it eternal glory.

2 Timothy 3:12

12 Yes, indeed, everyone who wants to live a godly life as a follower of Christ Jesus will be persecuted.

2 Timothy 4:7

7 I have fought the fight for the good, I have run my race, I have kept faith. 8 Now the crown for doing right awaits me, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award me on that day, and not only me but also all who have loved His appearing.

2 Timothy 4:17

17 But the Lord stood by me and gave me strength, so that the message preached by me might have its full effect and all the heathen might hear it. So I was rescued from the lion's jaws.

Titus 1:3

3 but at the proper time made known as His message through the message that I preach with which I have been entrusted by the command of God our Saviour;

Titus 1:5

5 I left you in Crete for this express purpose, to set in order the things that are lacking, and to appoint elders in each town, as I directed you --

Titus 1:7

7 For as God's trustee a pastor must be above reproach, not stubborn or quick-tempered or addicted to strong drink or pugnacious or addicted to dishonest gain, 8 but hospitable, a lover of goodness, sensible, upright, of pure life, self-controlled,

Titus 1:11

11 whose mouths must be stopped, for they upset whole families by teaching things they ought not to think, for the sake of dishonest gain.

Titus 2:2

2 the older men to be temperate, serious, and sensible, healthy in faith, in love, and in steadfastness;

Titus 2:4

4 so as to train the younger women to be affectionate wives and mothers,

Titus 2:6

6 Keep urging the younger men to be sensible. 7 In everything you yourself continue to set them a worthy example of doing good; be sincere and serious in your teaching,

Titus 2:12

12 training us to give up godless ways and worldly cravings and live serious, upright, and godly lives in this world,

Titus 2:14

14 who gave Himself for us to ransom us from all iniquity and purify for Himself a people to be His very own, zealous of good works.

Titus 3:1

1 Constantly remind people to submit to and obey the rulers who have authority over them, so as to be ready for any good enterprise,

Philemon 1:9

9 yet I prefer to appeal to you for love's sake, although I am such as I am, Paul an envoy of Christ Jesus but now a prisoner for Him too;

Philemon 1:14

14 but I would not do a single thing about it without your consent, so that this kindness of yours to me might not seem to come by compulsion but voluntarily.

Hebrews 9:15

15 And this is why He is the Mediator of a new covenant, in order that, after He had suffered death for securing redemption from the offenses committed under the first covenant, those who had been invited to share it might obtain the eternal inheritance promised them.

Hebrews 11:33

33 who by their faith conquered kingdoms, administered justice, received new promises, shut the mouths of lions,

Hebrews 12:15

15 Continue to look after one another, that no one fails to gain God's spiritual blessing; or some evil like a bitter root may spring up and trouble you, and many of you be contaminated by it --

Hebrews 13:5-6

5 You must have a turn of mind that is free from avarice; you must be content with what you have, for God Himself has said, "I will never fail you, I will never forsake you." 6 So we can confidently say: "The Lord is my helper; I will not be afraid. What can men do to me?"

Hebrews 13:17

17 Continue to obey and to be submissive to your leaders, for they are ever watching in defense of your souls, as men who will have to give account of their trust. Treat them in this way, so that they may work with joy and not with grief.

Hebrews 13:20

20 May God, who gives us peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, who through the blood by which He ratified the everlasting covenant, is now the Great Shepherd of the sheep,

Hebrews 13:20-21

20 May God, who gives us peace, who brought back from the dead our Lord Jesus, who through the blood by which He ratified the everlasting covenant, is now the Great Shepherd of the sheep, 21 perfectly fit you to do His will, He Himself, through Jesus Christ, accomplishing through you what is pleasing to Him. To Him be glory forever and ever. Amen. 22 I beg you, brothers, to listen patiently to this message, for I have written you only a short letter.

James 1:9-10

9 Let the poor brother of lowly station rejoice in his exalted station as a Christian, 10 and the rich brother rejoice in his being on a level with the poor, because the rich will fade away like the flower of the grass.

James 1:12

12 Blessed is the person who endures trial, for when he stands the test, he will receive the crown of life, which God has promised to those who love Him.

James 4:6

6 But He gives a greater spiritual blessing. He says, "God opposes haughty people but blesses humble people." 7 So then, submit to God. Resist the devil and he will fly from you.

James 4:10

10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and He will lift you high.

James 5:10

10 As an example of ill-treatment and patience, brothers, take the prophets, who spoke in the name of the Lord.

1 Peter 1:2

2 the people chosen in accordance with the foreknowledge of God the Father, by the consecration of the Spirit, to obey Jesus Christ and to be sprinkled with His blood: spiritual blessing and peace to you in increasing abundance. 3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In accordance with His great mercy He has begotten us anew to an ever living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead; 4 yes, to an inheritance that is imperishable, unsullied, and unfading, which is kept in heaven for you

1 Peter 1:4

4 yes, to an inheritance that is imperishable, unsullied, and unfading, which is kept in heaven for you 5 who are always guarded by the power of God through faith, in order that you may receive that final salvation which will be ready to be uncovered for you at the last time. 6 In such a hope keep on rejoicing, although for a little while you must be sorrow-stricken with various trials,

1 Peter 1:6-7

6 In such a hope keep on rejoicing, although for a little while you must be sorrow-stricken with various trials, 7 so that the genuineness of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even after it is shown by the test of fire to be genuine, may result in your praise and glory and honor at the unveiling of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 1:7-7

7 so that the genuineness of your faith, which is more precious than gold that perishes even after it is shown by the test of fire to be genuine, may result in your praise and glory and honor at the unveiling of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 1:12

12 It was made known to them that they were serving not themselves but you, in their searching for these things that have already been told to you by those who through the Holy Spirit sent from heaven brought you the good news. The angels long to take a peep into these things. 13 Therefore, as a means of spiritual preparation, tighten up the belt about your minds, keep perfectly calm, keep your hope on the spiritual blessing to be conferred upon you at the unveiling of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 1:15

15 but in accordance with the Holy Being who has called you, you must prove to be holy too,

1 Peter 2:9

9 But you are the chosen race, the royal priesthood, the consecrated nation, the people to be His very own, to proclaim the perfections of Him who called you out of darkness into His wonderful light.

1 Peter 2:21

21 Indeed, it was to this kind of living that you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you might follow His footsteps.

1 Peter 2:25

25 for once you were going astray like sheep, but now you have returned to the Shepherd and Overseer of Your souls.

1 Peter 3:3-4

3 Your adornments must be not of an external nature, with braids of hair or ornaments of gold, or changes of dress, 4 but they must be of an internal nature, the character concealed in the heart, in the imperishable quality of a quiet and gentle spirit, which is of great value in the sight of God.

1 Peter 3:14

14 Instead, you are happy, even if you should suffer for doing right. Never be afraid of their threats, and never be disturbed,

1 Peter 4:1

1 So then, since Christ has suffered in our physical form, you too must arm yourselves with the same determination. For whoever suffers in his physical form has done with sin,

1 Peter 4:5

5 but they will have to give account for it to Him who is ready to judge living and dead.

1 Peter 4:7

7 But the end of everything on earth is near. So be serious and sober minded, that you may give yourselves to prayer.

1 Peter 4:11

11 If anyone is preaching, let him do it as one who utters the oracles of God; if anyone is rendering any service to others, let him do it with all the strength that God supplies, so that in everything God may be glorified through Jesus Christ. To Him be glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen.

1 Peter 4:13

13 but so far as you are sharing Christ's sufferings, keep on rejoicing, so that at the uncovering of His glory you may rejoice triumphantly.

1 Peter 5:2

2 be shepherds of the flock of God that is among you, not as though you had to but of your own free will, not from the motive of personal profit but freely,

1 Peter 5:4

4 and when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the glorious crown that never fades.

2 Peter 1:3

3 because His divine power has given us everything that is needful for life and piety, through our full knowledge of Him who through His glory and excellence has called us to Him.

2 Peter 1:12

12 Therefore, I will always remind you of these things, although you know them and are firmly grounded in the truth that you already have.

2 Peter 2:3

3 In their greed they will exploit you with messages manufactured by themselves. From of old their condemnation has not been idle and their destruction has not been slumbering.

2 Peter 2:15

15 They have left the straight road and gone astray. They have followed the road that Balaam, the son of Beor, trod, who fell in love with the profits of wrongdoing

1 John 2:25

25 And the very thing that He Himself has promised us is eternal life.

1 John 3:2

2 Dearly beloved, we are now God's children, but what we are going to be has not been unveiled. We know that if it is unveiled, we shall be like Him, because we shall see Him as He is.

1 John 3:8-10

8 Whoever practices sin belongs to the devil, because the devil has practiced sin from the beginning. This is why the Son of God appeared, to undo the devil's works. 9 No one who is born of God makes a practice of sinning, because the God-given life-principle continues to live in him, and so he cannot practice sinning, because he is born of God. 10 This is the way to distinguish God's children from the devil's children. No one who fails to do right is God's child, and no one who fails to love his brother.

1 John 5:9-10

9 If we accept the testimony of men, the testimony of God is stronger still; because this is the testimony that God has borne to His Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his own heart. Whoever does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has borne to His Son.

2 John 1:1-3 John 1:15

1 The Elder to the chosen lady and her children, whom I truly love, and not only I but all who know the truth, 2 because of the truth that lives on in our hearts and will be with us forever: 3 spiritual blessing, mercy, and peace will be with us from God the Father and Jesus Christ, the Father's Son, in truth and love. 4 I am happy to find that some of your children are living by the truth, just as we had been commanded from the Father to do. 5 And now I beg you, my lady, not as though I were writing you a new command, but one which we had from the beginning, that we continue to love one another. 6 Now love means this, that we keep on living in accordance with His commands. The command is this, that we continue to live in love. 7 For many impostors have gone out into the world, men who do not own that Jesus Christ continues to come in human form. A person like this is the impostor and the Antichrist. 8 Look out for yourselves, so as not to lose what we have worked for, but so as to get your full reward. 9 No one has God, who goes too far and fails to stay by the teaching of Christ. Whoever stays by this teaching has the Father and the Son. 10 If anyone continuously comes to see you without bringing this teaching, you must stop welcoming him to your house and stop bidding him good morning, 11 For whoever keeps on bidding him good morning is sharing in his wicked works. 12 Though I have much to write you, I do not choose to do so with paper and ink, but I hope to come to see you and talk with you face to face, so that your happiness may be complete, 13 The children of your chosen sister wish to be remembered to you.

2 John 1:13

13 The children of your chosen sister wish to be remembered to you.

3 John 1:1-15

1 The Elder to the dearly beloved Gaius, whom I truly love. 2 Dearly beloved, I am praying for you to continue to prosper in everything, and to keep well, just as your soul is prospering. 3 For I am happy to have some brothers come and testify to the truth that is in you, since you are living by the truth. 4 I have no greater spiritual blessing than this, to hear that my children are living by the truth. 5 Dearly beloved, you are acting faithfully in doing what you can for the brothers, especially as they are strangers. 6 They have testified before the church to your love. You will please send them off on their journey in a way befitting the service of God. 7 For they have started out for His name's sake and so accept nothing from the heathen, 8 So we ought to show hospitality to such men, to prove that we cooperate with them for the truth. 9 I have written briefly to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to be first among them, refuses to listen to me.

3 John 1:9-10

9 I have written briefly to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to be first among them, refuses to listen to me. 10 So, if I come, I will remind you of what he is doing, how with malicious insinuations he is talking about me. Not content with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers himself, he interferes with those who want to do so, and tries to put them out of the church.

3 John 1:10-10

10 So, if I come, I will remind you of what he is doing, how with malicious insinuations he is talking about me. Not content with that, he refuses to welcome the brothers himself, he interferes with those who want to do so, and tries to put them out of the church. 11 Dearly beloved, do not follow bad examples but good ones. Whoever practices doing right is God's child; whoever practices doing wrong has never seen God. 12 Demetrius has a good testimony from everybody and from truth itself; yea, from me too, and you know that my testimony to him is true.

3 John 1:12

12 Demetrius has a good testimony from everybody and from truth itself; yea, from me too, and you know that my testimony to him is true. 13 I have much to say to you, but I do not want to write it with pen and ink. 14 I hope to see you very soon and will talk it over face to face. Goodbye. Our friends wish to be remembered to you. Remember me to our friends individually.

Jude 1:3

3 Dearly beloved, while I was doing my best to begin writing you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write and urge you to carry on a vigorous defense of the faith that was once for all entrusted to God's people.

Jude 1:24

24 Now to Him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to make you stand in His glorious presence faultless and full of triumphant joy,

Revelation 1:6

6 and has made us a kingdom of priests for His God and Father: to Him be glory forever. Amen. 7 See! He is coming on the clouds, and every eye will see Him, even the men who pierced Him, and all the tribes of the earth will lament over Him. Even so. Amen.

Revelation 1:9

9 I, John, your brother and companion with you in the trouble, the kingdom, and the patient endurance which Jesus gives, found myself on the island called Patmos, for preaching God's message and testifying to Jesus.

Revelation 2:10

10 Do not be so afraid of what you are to suffer. See! The devil is going to throw some of you into prison to be tested there and for ten days to suffer pressing troubles. Each one of you must prove to be faithful, even if you have to die, and I will give you the crown of life.

Revelation 3:11

11 I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one may take away your crown.

Revelation 5:13

13 Then I heard every creature in heaven, on earth, underneath the earth, and on the sea, and all that they contain, say: "Blessing, honor, glory, and power be to Him who is seated on the throne and to the Lamb forever."

Revelation 6:11

11 Then a white robe was given to each of them, and they were told to keep quiet a little while longer, until the number of their fellow-slaves and brothers, who were killed as they had been, was complete.

Revelation 7:14

14 I answered him, "You know, my lord." He said to me: "These are the people who are coming through the great persecution, who have washed their robes and made them white in the blood of the Lamb.

Revelation 12:9

9 So the huge dragon, the ancient serpent, called the devil and Satan, who deceives the whole world, was hurled down to the earth, and his angels were hurled down with him.

Revelation 12:12

12 So celebrate your triumph, you heavens and you who live in them! Alas for the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you in a great rage, since he knows that his time is short!"

Revelation 17:5

5 On her forehead was written a name with a symbolical meaning, "Mighty Babylon, the mother of prostitutes and of earth's abominations."

Revelation 18:2

2 He shouted with a mighty voice: "She has fallen! Mighty Babylon has fallen! She has become a den for demons, a dungeon for every foul spirit and every unclean and loathsome bird,

Revelation 18:12-13

12 cargoes of gold, silver, precious stones, fine linen, silk, and scarlet, all kinds of citron wood, all kinds of goods in ivory and costly woods, bronze, iron, and marble, 13 cinnamon, spices, incense, perfume, frankincense, wine, oil, fine flour, wheat, cattle, sheep, horses, carriages, slaves, and the lives of human beings.

Revelation 20:2

2 He seized the dragon, the ancient serpent, who is the devil and Satan, and bound him for a thousand years.

Revelation 20:10

10 Then the devil who led them astray was hurled into the fiery lake of burning brimstone, where the wild beast and false prophet were, and there they are to be tortured day and night forever and ever. 11 Then I saw a great white throne and Him who was seated on it, from whose presence earth and sky fled away, no more to be found. 12 I saw the dead, great and small, standing before the throne, and books were opened. Then another book was opened; it was the book of life, And the dead were judged by what was written in the books in accordance with what they had done.
