1 Saul heartily approved of his being put to death. So on that day a severe persecution broke out against the church in Jerusalem, and all of them, except the apostles, were scattered over Judea and Samaria.
2 Some devout men buried Stephen and made loud lamentation for him.
3 But Saul continued to harass the church, and by going from house to house and dragging off men and women he continued to put them into prison.
4 Now those who were scattered went from place to place preaching the good news of the message.
5 So Philip went down to the city of Samaria and began to preach the Christ to the Samaritans.
6 As the crowds continued to listen to his message and continued to see his wonder-works which he was performing, with one mind they became interested in what was said by Philip.
7 For many of those under the power of foul spirits cried out and the spirits came out of them, and many paralyzed and crippled people were cured.
8 So there was great rejoicing in that city.
9 There was a man named Simon in the city, who had kept the Samaritan people thrilled by practicing magic there and by claiming to be a great man.
10 Everybody, high and low, kept running after him, saying, "He is certainly what is known as the Great Power of God!"
11 They kept running after him, because for a long time he had thrilled them with his magical performances.
12 But when the people came to believe the good news proclaimed by Philip about the kingdom of God and the name of Jesus Christ, both men and women were constantly baptized.
13 So Simon himself came to believe too, and after he was baptized he continued to be devoted to Philip, and he was always thrilled at seeing such great signs and wonder-works continuously performed.
14 When the apostles at Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted God's message, they sent Peter and John there.
15 They came and prayed for them that they might receive the Holy Spirit,
16 for as yet He had not come upon any of them, but they had been baptized merely in the name of the Lord Jesus.
17 Then they laid their hands upon them, and one by one they received the Holy Spirit.
18 So when Simon saw that the Holy Spirit was conferred by the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offered them money,
19 and said, "Give me this power too, that when I lay my hands on anyone he may receive the Holy Spirit."
20 But Peter said to him, "Your money go to perdition with you for even dreaming you could buy the gift of God with money!
21 You have no share or part in this matter, for your heart is not sincere in the sight of God.
22 So repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord, to see if this thought of your heart may be forgiven you.
23 For I see that you are a bitter weed and a bundle of crookedness!"
24 So Simon answered, "Both of you beg the Lord for me that none of the things you have said may befall me!"
25 So after they had given their testimony and spoken the Lord's message, they started back to Jerusalem, and on the way continued to tell the good news in many Samaritan villages.
26 Now an angel of the Lord said to Philip, "Get up and go south by the road that leads from Jerusalem to Gaza; this is the desert road."
27 So he got up and went. Now there was an Ethiopian official, a member of the court of Candace, queen of the Ethiopians, her chief treasurer, who had come to Jerusalem to worship,
28 and now was on his way home. He was seated in his chariot, reading the prophet Isaiah.
29 So the Spirit said to Philip, "Go up and join him in his chariot."
30 Then Philip ran up and listened to him reading the prophet Isaiah, and he asked, "Do you understand what you are reading?"
31 He answered, "How in the world could I, unless someone teaches me?" And he begged him to get up and sit with him.
32 Now this was the passage of Scripture that he was reading: "Like a sheep He was led away to be slaughtered, and just as a lamb is dumb before its shearer, so He does not open His mouth.
33 Justice was denied Him in His humiliation, who can tell of His times? For His life is removed from the earth."
34 "Tell me, I pray, of whom is the prophet speaking," asked the official of Philip, "of himself or of someone else?"
35 Then Philip opened his mouth, and starting from this passage, he told him the good news about Jesus.
36 As they continued down the road, they came to some water, and the official said, "Look! here is some water! What is there to keep me from being baptized?"
37 Omitted Text.
38 So he ordered the chariot to stop, and Philip and the official both went down into the water, and Philip baptized him.
39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away; the official saw him no more, for he went on home rejoicing;
40 but Philip was found at Ashdod, and he went on telling the good news in all the towns until he reached Caesarea.

14 But He did not answer him a single word, so that the governor was dumbfounded beyond expression.
15 Now at the feast the governor was accustomed to set any prisoner free whom the people wanted.
16 At that time they had a notorious prisoner named Barabbas.
17 So when they met for this purpose, Pilate asked them, "Which one do you want me to set free, Barabbas, or Jesus, the so-called Christ?"
18 For he knew that they had turned Him over to the court out of envy.
19 Now while he was on the bench, his wife sent him this word, "Do not have anything to do with that righteous man, for I have this morning suffered excruciating pain in a dream caused by Him."
20 But the high priests and the elders lined up the crowds to ask for Barabbas, and to have Jesus put to death.
21 Still the governor answered, "Which of the two do you want me to set free for you?" And they said, "Barabbas."
22 Pilate asked them, "What then shall I do with Jesus. the so-called Christ?" They all answered, "Have Him crucified!"
23 He asked, "Why, what has He done that is wrong?" But they kept on shouting louder and louder, "Have Him crucified!"
24 So Pilate, since he saw that he was making no headway with them, but that a riot was about to break out instead, took some water and washed his hands before the crowd, and said, "I am not responsible for this man's death; you must see to it yourselves."
25 And all the people answered, "His blood be on us and on our children!"

8 Now Jesus at once felt in His spirit that they were arguing about this, and said, "Why are you arguing to yourselves about this?
9 Which is easier, to say to the paralyzed man, 'Your sins are forgiven,' or to say to him, 'Get up, pick up your pallet and start walking!"

7 For many of those under the power of foul spirits cried out and the spirits came out of them, and many paralyzed and crippled people were cured.
8 So there was great rejoicing in that city.

13 So Simon himself came to believe too, and after he was baptized he continued to be devoted to Philip, and he was always thrilled at seeing such great signs and wonder-works continuously performed.

39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away; the official saw him no more, for he went on home rejoicing;

1 Now Saul, as he was still breathing threats of murder against the disciples of the Lord, went to the high priest
2 and asked him for letters to the synagogues in Damascus, that if he found any men or women belonging to The Way he might bring them in chains to Jerusalem.
3 As he traveled on he finally approached Damascus, and suddenly a light from heaven flashed around him.
4 He dropped to the ground; then he heard a voice saying to him, "Saul, Saul, why are you persecuting me?"
5 He asked, "Who are you, sir?" And He said, "I am Jesus whom you are persecuting.
6 But get up and go into the city, and there it will be told you what you ought to do."
7 His fellow-travelers stood speechless, for they heard the voice but could not see anyone.
8 Then Saul got up off the ground, but he could not see anything, although his eyes were wide open. So they took him by the hand and led him into Damascus,
9 and for three days he could not see, and he did not eat or drink anything.
10 Now there was in Damascus a disciple named Ananias, and the Lord said to him in a vision, "Ananias!" And he answered, "Yes, Lord, I am here."
11 And the Lord said to him, "Get up and go to the street called 'The Straight Street,' and ask at the house of Judas for one named Saul, from Tarsus, for he is now praying there.

17 So Ananias left and went to that house, and there he laid his hands upon Saul, and said, "Saul, my. brother, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road on which you were coming here, has sent me that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit."
Acts 9:20
20 and at once he began to preach in their synagogues that Jesus is the Son of God.

Acts 9:31
31 So the church all over Judea, Galilee, and Samaria enjoyed peace, and as it continued to be built up spiritually and to live in reverence for the Lord, it continued to increase in numbers through the encouragement that the Holy Spirit gave.

15 When I began to speak, the Holy Spirit fell upon them as He did upon us at the beginning,
16 and I remembered the saying of the Lord, 'John baptized in water, but you will be baptized in the Holy Spirit.'
17 So if God had given them the same gift that He gave us when we believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to try -- and how could I if I tried -- to thwart God?"
Acts 11:17
17 So if God had given them the same gift that He gave us when we believed upon the Lord Jesus Christ, who was I to try -- and how could I if I tried -- to thwart God?"

Acts 12:8-11
8 Then the angel said to him, "Tighten your belt and put on your shoes? He did so. Then the angel said to him, "Put on your coat and follow me!"
9 So he kept following him out, but he was not conscious that what was being done by the angel was real; he thought he was dreaming it.
10 They passed the first guard, then the second, and at last came to the iron gate which led into the city. The gate of itself opened to them, and they passed out and proceeded one block when all at once the angel left him.
11 Then Peter came to himself and said, "Now I really know that the Lord has sent His angel and rescued me from the power of Herod and from all that the Jewish people were expecting to do to me."

Acts 14:2-7
2 But the Jews who refused to accept their message aroused and exasperated the minds of the heathen against the brothers.
3 In spite of this, however, they stayed there a considerable time and continued to speak with courage from the Lord, who continued to bear testimony to His gracious message and kept on granting signs and wonders to be done by them.
4 But the masses of the town were divided; some sided with the Jews and some with the apostles.
5 And so when there was a movement on the part of both the heathen and the Jews, along with their authorities, to insult and stone them,
6 they became aware of it and fled to the Lycaonian towns of Lystra and Derbe, and the surrounding country,
7 and there they continued to tell the good news.
8 Now in the streets of Lystra a man used to sit who had no strength in his feet, who had been crippled from his birth, and had never walked.
9 He continued listening to Paul as he spoke, and as Paul by looking straight at him observed that he had faith that he would be cured,
10 he shouted aloud to him, "Get on your feet and stand erect!" Then up he leaped and began to walk.
11 So the crowds, because they saw what Paul had done, shouted in the Lycaonian language, "The gods in human form have come down to us!"

14 Among them was a woman named Lydia, a dealer in purple goods from the town of Thyatira, and she stayed to listen to us. She was already a worshiper of God, and the Lord so moved upon her heart that she accepted the message spoken by Paul.
15 When she and her household were baptized, she begged us by continuing to say, "If you have made up your mind that I am a real believer in the Lord, come and stay at my house." And she continued to insist that we do so.
16 Once as we were on our way to the place of prayer, a slave girl met us who had the gift of magical fortune-telling, and continued to make great profits for her owners by fortune-telling.
17 This girl kept following Paul and the rest of us, shrieking, "These men are slaves of the Most High God, and they are proclaiming to you a way of salvation."
18 She kept this up for a number of days. Because Paul was so much annoyed by her, he turned and said to the spirit in her, "In the name of Jesus Christ I order you to come out of her." And that very moment it came out.
Acts 16:31-34
31 They answered, "Believe on the Lord Jesus, and you and your household will be saved."
32 Then they told God's message to him and to all the members of his household.
33 Even at that time of the night he took them and washed their wounds, and he and all the members of his household at once were baptized.
34 Then he took them up to his house and gave them food, and he and all the members of his household were happy in their faith in God.
Acts 16:34
34 Then he took them up to his house and gave them food, and he and all the members of his household were happy in their faith in God.
Acts 17:2-3
Acts 17:11
11 The Jews there were better disposed than those in Thessalonica, for they welcomed the message with all eagerness and carried on a daily study of the Scriptures to see if Paul's message was true.
Acts 17:11-12
Acts 17:18
18 Some of the Epicurean and the Stoic philosophers began to debate with him; and some said, "What is this scraps-of-truth-picker trying to say?" Others said, "He seems to be a preacher of foreign deities." They said so because he was telling the good news of Jesus and the resurrection.

30 Though God overlooked those times of ignorance, He now commands all men everywhere to repent,

18 And many who became believers kept coming and confessing and uncovering their former practices.
19 Many people who had practiced magic brought their books together and burned them up before the public gaze. They estimated the price of them and found it to be ten thousand dollars.
20 In a way of just such power as this the Lord's message kept on spreading and prevailing.
Acts 20:21
21 but constantly and earnestly I urged Greeks as well as Jews to turn with repentance to God and to have faith in our Lord Jesus.
22 And I am here now on my way to Jerusalem, because I am impelled by the Spirit to do so, though I am not aware what will befall me there,
23 except that in town after town the Holy Spirit emphatically assures me that imprisonment and sufferings are awaiting me.
Acts 20:25
25 And now I know that none of you among whom I went about preaching the kingdom will ever see my face again.

Acts 26:9-11
9 I myself, indeed, once thought it my duty to take extreme measures in hostility to the name of Jesus of Nazareth.
10 That was what I did at Jerusalem; yes, I received authority from the high priests and shut behind the prison bars many of God's people. Yes, when they were put to death, I cast my vote against them, and often in all the synagogues
11 I had them punished and tried to force them to use abusive language; in my extreme fury against them I continued to pursue them even into distant towns.
Acts 26:22-23
22 As I have gotten help from God clear down to this very day, I stand here to testify to high and low alike, without adding a syllable to what Moses and the prophets said should take place,
23 if the Christ should suffer, and by being the first to rise from the dead was to proclaim the light to the Jewish people and to the heathen."

17 But, thank God, that though you once were slaves of sin, you became obedient from your hearts to that form of teaching in which you have been instructed,
18 and since you have been freed from sin, you have become the slaves of right-doing.
19 I am speaking in familiar human terms because of the frailty of your nature. For just as you formerly offered the parts of your bodies in slavery to impurity and to ever increasing lawlessness, so now you must once for all offer them in slavery to right-doing, which leads to consecration.
20 For when you were slaves of sin, you were free so far as doing right was concerned.
21 What benefit did you then derive from doing the things of which you are now ashamed? None, for they end in death.
22 But now, since you have been freed from sin and have become the slaves of God, the immediate result is consecration, and the final destiny is eternal life.

4 was actually caught up into paradise, and heard things that must not be told, which no man has a right even to mention.

1 O senseless Galatians! Who has bewitched you, before whose very eyes Jesus Christ was pictured as the crucified One?
2 I want to ask you only this one thing: Did you receive the Spirit by doing what the law commands, or by believing the message you heard?
3 Are you so senseless? Did you begin by the Spirit, but are now approaching perfection by fleshly means?
4 Have you suffered so much for nothing? If it really is for nothing.

2 But, although we had just suffered and been insulted, as you remember, at Philippi, we again summoned courage by the help of God, in spite of the terrific strain, to tell you God's good news.
1 Thessalonians 2:13
13 For another reason too, we, as far as we are concerned, are constantly giving thanks to God; that is, when you received the message you heard from us, you welcomed it not as the message of men but as the message of God, as it really is, which keeps on working in you who believe.
1 Thessalonians 3:2
2 and so I sent my brother Timothy, God's minister in the preaching of the good news of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith,

2 Timothy 1:6
6 For this reason I now remind you to rekindle and keep burning the fire of the divine gift which came upon you when I laid my hands upon you.

16 All Scripture is inspired by God, and useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in doing what is right,
17 so that the man of God may be perfectly fit, thoroughly equipped for every good enterprise.
Titus 3:3
3 For once we too were without understanding, disobedient, misled, habitual slaves to all sorts of passions and pleasures, spending our lives in malice and envy.

4 while God continued to confirm their testimony with signs, marvels, and various sorts of wonder-works, and with gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed in accordance with His will.
Hebrews 4:12
12 For God's message is alive and full of power in action, sharper than any double-edged sword, piercing even to the depths of soul and spirit, to the dividing of joints and marrow, and passing judgment on the thoughts and purposes of the heart.

19 Do you believe in one God? Very well; the demons, too, believe that, and shudder.
20 But, O senseless man, are you willing to learn that faith without good deeds is worthless?
21 Was not our forefather Abraham shown to be upright by his good deeds, namely, by offering Isaac his son upon the altar?
22 You see that faith cooperated with his good deeds, and by his good deeds faith was made complete;
23 and so the Scripture was fulfilled which says, "Abraham put his faith in God, and it was credited to him for uprightness, and he was called God's friend."
24 You see that a man is shown to be upright by his good deeds, and not merely by his faith.
25 Was not even Rahab the prostitute shown to be upright by her good deeds, namely, by entertaining the scouts and sending them off by a different road?
26 Just as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without good deeds is dead.

1 Peter 2:21-24
21 Indeed, it was to this kind of living that you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you might follow His footsteps.
22 He never committed a sin, and deceit was never found on His lips.
23 Although He was abused, He never retorted; although He continued to suffer, He never threatened, but committed His case to Him who judges justly.
24 He bore our sins in His own body on the cross, that we might die to sin and live to uprightness. By His wounds you have been healed,

12 By Silvanus, our faithful brother, as I regard him, I have written you this short letter, to encourage you and to testify that this is the true, unmerited favor of God. Stand firm in it.

15 They have left the straight road and gone astray. They have followed the road that Balaam, the son of Beor, trod, who fell in love with the profits of wrongdoing
16 but was reproved for his offense; a dumb animal spoke with a human voice and stopped the prophet's madness.
17 Such men are dried-up springs, clouds driven by the storm, and they are doomed to densest darkness.
18 For by uttering arrogant nonsense, through base desires of the lower nature, they entice into immorality men who are just escaping from those who live in error,
19 promising them freedom, though they are slaves of destruction themselves; for a man is the slave of anything that conquers him.

11 And this testimony is that God has given us eternal life, and this life is given through union with His Son.
12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son does not have life.

17 Because you say, 'I am rich, I have already become rich, I need nothing,' and you do not know that you are the very one that is wretched, pitiable, poor, blind, and naked;
18 I advise you to buy of me gold that has been refined in the fire, so that you may become rich, and white clothes to put on, to hide your shameful nakedness, and salve to put on your eyes, to make you see.
