³⁹ Then some Pharisees in the crowd said to Him, "Teacher, reprove your disciples."

¹⁵ But because the high priests and scribes saw the wonders that He did and the children shouting in the temple, "Welcome the Son of David," they were indignant ¹⁶ and asked Him, "Do you hear what they are saying?" Jesus answered them, "Yes. Did you never read this, 'Out of the mouths of little children, yea, of infants, you have perfect praise'?"

¹³ "A curse on you, you hypocritical scribes and Pharisees! For you bolt the doors of the kingdom of heaven in men's faces, for you neither go in yourselves, nor do you let those who are trying to do so go in.

⁴⁷ So the high priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the council, and began to say, "What are we to do? For this man is certainly performing many wonder-works. ⁴⁸ If we let Him go on this way, everybody will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and blot out both our city and nation."

¹⁰ But the high priests planned to kill Lazarus,

¹⁹ So the Pharisees said to one another, "You see, you cannot help it at all; the whole world has gone off after Him!"

¹ While they were talking to the people, the high priests, the military commander of the temple, and the Sadducees came down upon them, ² because they were very much disturbed over their continuing to teach the people and to declare in the case of Jesus the resurrection from the dead.

¹⁶ and repeated, "What shall we do with these men? For it is evident to everybody living in Jerusalem that an unmistakable wonder-work has been done by them; and we cannot deny it. ¹⁷ But to keep it from spreading farther among the people, let us severely threaten them not to say anything at all to anyone else about this person." ¹⁸ So they called them in and ordered them not to speak or teach at all about the name of Jesus.

⁵ Or, do you think that the Scripture means nothing when it says, "He jealously yearns for the Spirit that He causes to dwell in your hearts"?
