Luke 22 Cross References - Williams

1 Now the feast of Unleavened Bread, which is called the Passover, was drawing near. 2 So the high priests and the scribes continued to seek how they might put Him to death, for they were afraid of the people. 3 But Satan entered into Judas, who is called Iscariot, who belonged to the circle of the Twelve. 4 So he went off and discussed with the high priests and captains of the temple how he could betray Him to them. 5 They were delighted and made a bargain to pay him for it. 6 He in turn accepted their offer and began to seek a favorable opportunity to betray Him to them without exciting an uprising. 7 Then the day of Unleavened Bread came, on which the Passover lamb had to be sacrificed. 8 So He sent Peter and John, saying to them, "Go and make preparations for us to eat the Passover meal." 9 They asked Him, "Where do you wish us to prepare it?" 10 He answered them, "Just after you enter the city, a man with a pitcher of water will meet you. Follow him into the house which he enters 11 and say to the owner of the house, 'Our Teacher says to you, "Where is the room in which I am to eat the Passover supper with my disciples?"' 12 Then he will show you a large room upstairs already furnished. There make the preparations." 13 So they went off and found it just as He had said, and they prepared the Passover supper. 14 Now when the hour came, He took His place at the table, with the apostles about Him. 15 And He said to them, "I have heartily desired to eat this Passover supper with you before I suffer. 16 For I tell you, I shall never again eat one until it finds its full fruition in the kingdom of God." 17 Then He received a cup of wine, gave thanks, and said, "Take this and share it among you, 18 for I tell you, I shall not after today drink the product of the vine until the kingdom of God comes." 19 Then He took a loaf, gave thanks, and broke it in pieces, and gave it to them, and said, "This is my body which is to be given for you. Do this as a memorial to me." 20 In like manner after supper He took a cup of wine, and said, "This cup of wine is the new covenant to be ratified by my blood, which is to be poured out for you. 21 Yet look! The hand of the man who is betraying me is with me on the table! 22 For the Son of Man is going away, as it has been divinely decreed, but a curse will be on that man by whom He is betrayed!" 23 Then they began to discuss among themselves which one it was who was going to do this. 24 There arose also among them a contention as to which one of them should rank as greatest. 25 But He said to them, "The kings of the heathen lord it over them and those who exercise authority over them are given the title of 'Benefactor.' 26 But you are not to do so. On the contrary, the greatest among you must be like the youngest and the leader as the servant. 27 Which one, indeed, is the greater, the guest at the table or the servant who waits on him? Is it not the guest at the table? But I am among you as the servant who waits on you. 28 Yet you have continued to stand by me in my trials; 29 and as my Father has conferred on me a kingdom, 30 so I confer on you the privilege of eating and drinking at my table in my kingdom and of sitting on thrones and judging the twelve tribes of Israel. 31 "Simon, Simon, listen! Satan has asked permission to sift all of you like wheat, 32 but I have prayed especially for you that your own faith may not utterly fail. And you yourself, after you have turned, must strengthen your brothers." 33 But Peter said to Him, "Lord, I am ready to go even to prison and to death with you!" 34 But He said, "I tell you, Peter, the cock will not crow today before you deny three times that you know me!" 35 Then He said to them, "When I sent you out without purse or bag or shoes, you did not need anything, did you?" They answered, "Nothing at all." 36 Then He said to them, "But now the man who has a purse must take it, and a bag too. And the man who does not have a sword must sell his coat and buy one. 37 For I tell you, what has been written about me must be fulfilled: 'He was classed with the outlaws.' Yes, that saying about me has its fulfillment." 38 So they said, "Lord, look! here are two swords!" And He answered them, "Enough!" 39 Then He went out of the city and up the Mount of Olives, as He was in the habit of doing; and His disciples, too, followed Him there. 40 Now when He reached the spot, He said to them, "Continue to pray that you may not be subjected to temptation." 41 And He Himself withdrew about a stone's throw from them, and after kneeling down He continued to pray, 42 "Father, if you are willing, take this cup away from me. Yet, not my will but always yours be done!" 43 Omitted Text. 44 Omitted Text. 45 When He rose from His prayer, He went to the disciples and found them asleep from sorrow. 46 Then He said to them, "Why are you sleeping? Get up and keep praying that you may not be subjected to temptation." 47 While He was still speaking, look! a crowd had come up, and Judas, one of the Twelve, was their guide; and he stepped up to Jesus to kiss Him. 48 Then Jesus said to him, "Judas, will you betray the Son of Man with a kiss?" 49 Those who were about Him saw what was about to take place, and said, "Lord, shall we use our swords now?" 50 Then one of them struck the high priest's slave and cut off his right ear. 51 But Jesus said, "Permit me to go as far as this!" So He touched his ear and healed him. 52 Then Jesus said to the high priests, captains of the temple, and elders, who had come to take Him, "Have you come out with swords and clubs as though I were a robber? 53 While I was among you day after day in the temple, you never laid a hand on me! But this is your opportunity, even the power which darkness gives you!" 54 Then they arrested Him and led Him away and brought Him to the house of the high priest. Peter was following at a distance. 55 And when they had kindled a fire in the middle of the courtyard and had taken their seats together, Peter, too, was sitting among them. 56 A servant girl saw him sitting by the fire and fixed her eyes on him and said, "This fellow was with Him too." 57 But he denied it and said, "I do not know Him, woman." 58 A little later a man looked at him and said, "You are one of them too." But Peter said, "Man, I am not." 59 About an hour later another man emphatically asserted, "He certainly was with Him, for he is a Galilean!" 60 But Peter said, "Man, I do not know what you mean." And all at once, while he was still speaking, a cock crowed. 61 Then the Lord turned and looked at Peter, and Peter was reminded of the word that the Lord had spoken to him, "Before a cock crows today, you will disown me three times." 62 And he went outside and burst into bitter tears. 63 Then the men who held Him in custody flogged Him and made sport of Him, 64 and after blindfolding Him they asked Him, "Play the prophet and tell us who it is that struck you!" 65 And they continued to say many other abusive things to Him. 66 As soon as day came, the elders of the people, the high priests, and the scribes assembled, and brought Him back before their council, and said, 67 "Tell us, if you are the Christ." But He said to them, "If I tell you, you will not believe me, 68 and if I ask you a question, you will not answer me. 69 But from today the Son of Man will be seated at the right hand of the mighty God." 70 Then they all asked, "Are you then the Son of God?" And He answered, "Yes, I am." 71 Then they said, "What more evidence do we need? For we have heard it ourselves from His own mouth!"

John 11:47-53

47 So the high priests and the Pharisees called a meeting of the council, and began to say, "What are we to do? For this man is certainly performing many wonder-works. 48 If we let Him go on this way, everybody will believe in Him, and the Romans will come and blot out both our city and nation." 49 But one of them, Caiaphas, who was high priest that year, said to them, "You know nothing about this; 50 you do not take into account that it is for your own welfare that one man should die for the people, and not that the whole nation should be destroyed." 51 Now he did not say this on his own authority, but because he was high priest that year he uttered this prophecy from God, that Jesus was to die for the nation, 52 and not only for the nation, but also to unite the scattered children of God. 53 So from that day they plotted to kill Jesus.

Untie it and bring it here to me. 31 And if anyone asks you why you are untying it, you are to answer, 'The Lord needs it.'" 32 So off the two messengers went and found it just as He had told them. 33 And while they were untying the colt, its owners said to them, "Why are you untying the colt?" 34 And they answered, "The Lord needs it." 35 So they brought it to Jesus. 36 Then they threw their coats upon it and mounted Jesus upon it. Hebrews 10:1-10

1 For since the law cast only a shadow of the blessings to come and did not possess the reality itself of those blessings, the priests with the same sacrifices that are perpetually offered year after year cannot make perfect those who come to worship. 2 Otherwise, would they not have ceased offering them, because those who offered them, having once been purified, would have had no further consciousness of sins? 3 On the other hand, through these sacrifices there is given a real reminder of their sins, 4 for the blood of bulls and goats is unable to take away sins. 5 So, when Christ was coming into the world, He said: 6 "Sacrifice and offering you did not wish, but a body you have prepared for me; in burnt-offerings and sin-offerings you never took delight. 7 Then I said, 'See, I have come, just as the Scripture writes about me in the book, O God, to do your will.'" 8 Although at first He said, "You never wished or took delight in sacrifices and offerings, burnt-offerings and sin-offerings" -- all of which are repeatedly offered in accordance with the law -- 9 He afterward said, "See, I have come to do your will." He is taking away the first to let the second take its place. 10 It is by this will of God that we are consecrated through the offering of Jesus' body once for all.

Acts 2:30-36

30 So, as he was a prophet and knew that God with an oath had promised to put one of his descendants on his throne, 31 he foresaw the resurrection of the Christ and told of it, for He was not forsaken to Hades, and His body did not undergo decay. 32 I mean Jesus whom God raised from the dead, to which fact we are all witnesses, 33 So He has been exalted to God's right hand and has received from His Father, as promised, and poured out upon us the Holy Spirit, as you see and hear. 34 For David did not go up to heaven, but he himself says: 'The Lord said to my Lord, "Sit at my right hand, 35 Until I make your enemies the footstool of your feet."' 36 "Therefore, let all the descendants of Israel understand beyond a doubt that God has made this Jesus whom you crucified both Lord and Christ."

Ephesians 5:18-19

18 Stop getting drunk on wine, for that means profligacy, but ever be filled with the Spirit, 19 and always be speaking to one another in psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs. Keep on praying and praising the Lord with all your heart;

Matthew 26:26-28

26 While they were eating, Jesus took a loaf and blessed it; then He broke it in pieces and gave it to the disciples, and said, "Take this and eat it; this is my body." 27 He also took the cup of wine and gave thanks; then He gave it to them, saying, "All of you drink some of it, 28 for this is my blood which ratifies the covenant, the blood which is to be poured out for many for the forgiveness of their sins.

16 Is not the consecrated cup which we consecrate a sign of our sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the loaf which we break a sign of our sharing in the body of Christ?

1 Corinthians 11:23-29

23 For the account that I passed on to you I myself received from the Lord Himself, that the Lord Jesus on the night He was betrayed took a loaf of bread 24 and gave thanks for it and broke it and said, "This is my body which is given for you. Do this in memory of me." 25 In the same way, after supper, He took the cup of wine, saying, "This cup is the new covenant ratified by my blood. Whenever you drink it, do so in memory of me." 26 For every time you eat this bread and drink from this cup, you proclaim the Lord's death until He comes again. 27 So whoever eats the bread and drinks from the Lord's cup in an unworthy way is guilty of sinning against the Lord's body and blood. 28 A man, then, must examine himself, and only in this way should he eat any of the bread and drink from the cup. 29 For whoever eats and drinks without recognizing His body, eats and drinks a judgment on himself.

1 Corinthians 10:16-21

16 Is not the consecrated cup which we consecrate a sign of our sharing in the blood of Christ? Is not the loaf which we break a sign of our sharing in the body of Christ? 17 Because there is only one loaf, so we, though many, are only one body, for we all partake of one loaf. 18 Look at the Israelites in their practices. Are not those who eat the sacrifices in spiritual fellowship with the altar? 19 Then what do I mean? That the sacrifice to an idol is a reality, or that an idol itself is a reality? Of course not! 20 I mean that what the heathen sacrifice they sacrifice to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be in fellowship with demons. 21 You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons. You cannot eat at the table of the Lord and at the table of demons.

Hebrews 8:6-13

6 But, as the case with Him now stands, He has entered upon a priestly service as much superior to theirs as the covenant of which He is the Mediator is superior to theirs, superior because it has been enacted upon superior promises. 7 For if the first covenant had been faultless, there could have been no room for a second one. 8 For, because He was dissatisfied with His people, He said: "'See; the time is coming,' says the Lord, 'When I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and the house of Judah, 9 Unlike the one that I made with their forefathers the day I took them by the hand to lead them out from the land of Egypt, for they did not abide by their covenant with me, so I did not care for them,' says the Lord. 10 'For this is the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel in those days,' says the Lord; 'I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they will be my people. And nevermore will each one need to teach his fellow-citizen, 11 And each one teach his brother, saying, "Know the Lord," For all will know me, from the lowest to the highest. 12 For I will be merciful to their deeds of wrong, and never, never any more will I recall their sins,'" 13 In speaking of a new covenant He makes the first one obsolete; and whatever is obsolete and antiquated is on the verge of vanishing.

21 And while they were eating, He said, "I solemnly say to you, one of you is going to betray me." 22 They were cut to the bottom of their hearts, and began to ask one by one, "It cannot be I, can it, Lord?" 23 He answered, "The man who has just dipped his hand with me in the dish is the man who is going to betray me. 24 The Son of Man is going away as the Scriptures say of Him, but a curse will be on that man by whom He is betrayed. It would have been better for that man, if he had never been born!"

Mark 14:18-21

18 And while they were sitting at table and eating, Jesus said, "I solemnly say to you, one of you, one who is now eating with me, is going to betray me." 19 And they began to show that they were hurt and to ask Him one by one, "It cannot be I, can it?" 20 He answered them, "It is one of the Twelve, the one who is dipping his bread in the dish with me. 21 For the Son of Man is going away, as the Scriptures say of Him, but a curse will be on that man by whom He is betrayed. It would have been better for that man, if he had never been born."

John 13:21-22

Acts 1:16-25

16 "Brothers, that Scripture had to be fulfilled which the Holy Spirit uttered by the mouth of David in the former times about Judas who became the guide to those who arrested Jesus; 17 for he was one of our number, and he received a share in this ministry of ours. 18 (This man bought a piece of land with the money which he took for his treachery, and he fell there face downward and his body broke in two, and all his intestines poured out. 19 It became known to all the residents of Jerusalem, so that this piece of land was called in their language Akeldamach, that is, The Field of Blood.) 20 For in the Book of Psalms it is written: 'Let his estate be desolate, and let no one live on it,' and 'Let someone else take his position.' 21 "So one of these men who have been associated with us all the time the Lord Jesus came and went among us, 22 from the time of His baptism by John down to the day when He was taken up from us, must be added to our number as a witness to His resurrection." 23 Then they nominated two men, Joseph called Barsabbas, who was also called Justus, and Matthias. 24 And they prayed, saying, "Lord, you who know the hearts of all, show us which one of these two men you have chosen 25 to take a share in this service as an apostle, from which Judas fell away to go to his own place."

1 Corinthians 15:3-4

She answered Him, "Give orders that these two sons of mine may sit one at your right and one at your left in your kingdom." 22 But Jesus answered, "You do not realize what you are asking for. Can you drink the cup that I am about to drink?" They answered, "Yes, we can." 23 He said to them, "You will drink the cup that I am to drink, but seats at my right and at my left are not mine to give, but they will be given to those for whom they have been prepared by my Father." 24 When the other ten heard of it, they were indignant at the two brothers.

Jesus said to them, "Yes, the cup that I am drinking you will have to drink, and the baptism of agony that I am enduring you will have to endure, 40 but seats at my right and at my left are not mine to give, but they will be given to those for whom they have been prepared." 41 When the other ten heard of it, they were at first very indignant at James and John.

5 You younger men, on your part, must be submissive to the elders. Mark 10:41-45

41 When the other ten heard of it, they were at first very indignant at James and John. 42 Then Jesus called them to Him, and said to them, "You know that those who are supposed to rule the heathen lord it over them, and their great men rule as despots over them; 43 but this is not to be the case among you. Whoever wants to be great among you must be your servant, 44 and whoever wants to hold the first positions among you must be everybody's slave. 45 For the Son of Man did not come to be served but to serve, and to give His life a ransom price to set many free."

9 I have written briefly to the church, but Diotrephes, who likes to be first among them, refuses to listen to me. 10 So, if I come, I will remind you of what he is doing, how with malicious insinuations he is talking about me. John 13:5-16

5 Then He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples' feet and to wipe them with the towel which was around His waist. 6 Thus He came to Simon Peter. Peter said to Him, "Lord, are you going to wash my feet?" 7 Jesus answered him, "You do not now understand what I am doing, but by-and-by you will learn." 8 Peter said to Him, "You must never wash my feet!" Jesus answered, "Unless I do wash you, you can have no share with me." 9 Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, do not stop with my feet, then, but wash my hands and face too!" 10 Jesus said to him, "Anyone who has taken a bath has no need of washing anything but his feet, but he is clean all over. And you are now clean, though not all of you are." 11 For He knew who was going to betray Him; this is why He said, "You are not all clean." 12 So when He had washed their feet and had put on His clothes and taken His place at the table, He said to them again: "Do you understand what I have done to you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord, and you are right in calling me so, for that is what I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you too ought to wash one another's feet. 15 For I have set you an example, in order that you too may practice what I have done to you. 16 I most solemnly say to you, no slave is superior to his master, and no messenger is greater than the man who sends him.

10 Then I heard a loud voice in heaven say: "The salvation, power, and kingdom of our God, and the sovereignty of His Christ, have already come, because the accuser of our brothers, who always day and night accuses them before our God, has been hurled down.

Matthew 18:3

3 and said: "I solemnly say to you, unless you turn and become like little children, you can never get into the kingdom of heaven at all.

13 The portion of them on the rock illustrates those who accept the message, bubbling over with joy when they first hear it, but it takes no real root. They believe for awhile, but in the time of testing they fall away.

Luke 22:61-62

61 Then the Lord turned and looked at Peter, and Peter was reminded of the word that the Lord had spoken to him, "Before a cock crows today, you will disown me three times." 62 And he went outside and burst into bitter tears.

John 14:19

19 In just a little while the world will not see me any more, but you will be seeing me. Because I am to live on, you too will live on.

John 17:9-11

9 I am praying for them. I am not praying for the world now, but only for those whom you have given me, because they are yours -- 10 really, all that is mine is yours, and all that is yours is mine -- and I have been glorified through them. 11 And now I am no longer to be in the world, but they are to stay on in the world, while I am going to be with you. Holy Father, keep them by the power which you have given me, so that they may be one just as we are.

John 17:15-21

15 I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but to keep them from the evil in it. 16 They do not belong to the world just as I do not belong to it. 17 Consecrate them by your truth; your message is truth. 18 Just as you have sent me into the world, I have sent them into the world, too. 19 And so for their sake I am consecrating myself, that they too may be consecrated by truth. 20 "I make this petition, not for them only, but for all who ever come to believe in me through their message, 21 for them all to be one, just as you, Father, are in union with me and I in union with you, for them to be in union with us, so that the world may be convinced that you have sent me.

John 21:15-17

15 After they had finished breakfast, Jesus said to Simon Peter, "Simon, son of John, are you more devoted to me than you are to these things?" Peter answered Him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I tenderly love you." Jesus said to him, "Then feed my lambs." 16 Jesus again said to him a second time, "Simon, son of John, are you really devoted to me?" He said to Him, "Yes, Lord, you know that I tenderly love you." Jesus said to him, "Then be a shepherd to my sheep." 17 For the third time Jesus asked him, "Simon, son of John, do you really tenderly love me?" Peter was hurt because Jesus the third time asked him, "Do you really tenderly love me?" So he answered Him, "Lord, you know everything; you know that I do tenderly love you." Jesus said to him, "Then feed my sheep.

Acts 3:19

19 So now repent and turn to Him, to have your sins wiped out, that times of revival may come from the presence of the Lord,

Romans 5:9-10

9 So if we have already been brought into right standing with God by Christ's death, it is much more certain that by Him we shall be saved from God's wrath. 10 For if while we were God's enemies, we were reconciled to Him through the death of His Son, it is much more certain that since we have been reconciled we shall finally be saved through His new life.

Romans 8:32

32 Since He did not spare His own Son but gave Him up for us all, will He not with Him graciously give us everything else?

2 Corinthians 1:4-6

4 who comforts me in every sorrow I have, so that I can comfort people who are in sorrow with the comfort with which I am comforted by God. 5 For just as my sufferings for Christ are running over the cup, so through Christ my comfort is running over too. 6 If I am in sorrow, it is on behalf of your comfort and salvation; if I am comforted, it is for the comfort that is experienced by you in your patient endurance of the same sort of sufferings that I am enduring too.

1 Timothy 1:13-16

13 though I once used to abuse, persecute, and insult Him. But mercy was shown me by Him, because I did it in ignorance and unbelief, 14 and the spiritual blessing of our Lord in increasing floods has come upon me, accompanied by faith and love inspired by union with Christ Jesus. 15 It is a saying to be trusted and deserves our fullest acceptance, that Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners; and I am the foremost of them. 16 Yet, mercy was shown me for the very purpose that in my case as the foremost of sinners Jesus might display His perfect patience, to make me an example to those who in the future might believe on Him to obtain eternal life.

2 Timothy 2:18

18 who have missed the truth by saying that the resurrection has already taken place, are undermining some people's faith.

25 Therefore, because He Himself lives always to intercede for them always, He is able to save completely any and all who come to God through Him.

12 So tighten the grip of your slipping hands; stiffen the stand of your knocking knees; 13 and keep your feet in straight paths, so that limbs may not be dislocated, but instead be cured.

Hebrews 12:15

15 Continue to look after one another, that no one fails to gain God's spiritual blessing; or some evil like a bitter root may spring up and trouble you, and many of you be contaminated by it --

5 who are always guarded by the power of God through faith, in order that you may receive that final salvation which will be ready to be uncovered for you at the last time.

1 Peter 1:13

13 Therefore, as a means of spiritual preparation, tighten up the belt about your minds, keep perfectly calm, keep your hope on the spiritual blessing to be conferred upon you at the unveiling of Jesus Christ.

1 Peter 5:8-10

8 Be calm and alert. Your opponent the devil is always prowling about like a roaring lion, trying to devour you. 9 Resist him and be strong in faith, because you know that your brotherhood all over the world is experiencing the same sort of sufferings. 10 And God, the giver of every spiritual blessing, who through your union with Christ has called you to His eternal glory, after you have suffered a little while, will Himself make you perfect, firm, and strong,

2 Peter 1:10-12

10 Therefore, brothers, be all the more in earnest to make certain to yourselves God's call and choice of you. For if you cultivate these qualities, you will never slip, 11 for it is in this way that to you will be generously granted a triumphant admittance into the eternal kingdom of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. 12 Therefore, I will always remind you of these things, although you know them and are firmly grounded in the truth that you already have.

2 Peter 3:14

14 Therefore, dearly beloved, since you are expecting this, be in earnest to be found by Him without a blot, without reproach, and at peace.

2 Peter 3:17-18

17 So, dearly beloved, since you have been forewarned, you must always be on your guard against being led astray by the errors of lawless men, and so against falling away from your present firmness; 18 but instead, you must continue to grow in the spiritual strength and knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To Him be glory now and forever!

1 John 2:1-2

1 My dear children, I am writing you this so that you may not sin; yet if anyone ever sins, we have One who pleads our case with the Father, Jesus Christ, One who is righteous. 2 And He is Himself the atoning sacrifice for our sins; and not for ours alone, but also for the whole world.

Matthew 26:40-41

29 Then Peter said to Him, "Although all the rest of them stumble over you, yet I will never do so myself."

37 And He went back and found them asleep, and He said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch a single hour? 38 You must all keep watching and praying that you may not be exposed to temptation. Man's spirit is willing but human nature is weak."

John 13:36-37

36 Simon Peter said to Him, "Lord, where are you going?" Jesus answered, "I am going where you cannot follow me just now, but you will later follow me." 37 Peter said to Him, "Lord, why can I not follow you right now? I will lay down my life for you."

Acts 20:23-24

23 except that in town after town the Holy Spirit emphatically assures me that imprisonment and sufferings are awaiting me. 24 But now I count as nothing the sacrifice of my life, if only I can finish my race and render the service entrusted to me by the Lord Jesus, of faithfully telling the good news of God's favor.

13 Then Paul answered, "What do you mean by crying and breaking my heart? Why, I am ready not only to be bound at Jerusalem but to die there for the sake of the Lord Jesus."

John 13:38

38 Jesus answered, "You will lay down your life for me! I most solemnly say to you, before a cock crows, you will three times disown me!"

Matthew 6:31-33

31 So never worry and say, 'What are we going to have to eat? What are we going to have to drink? What are we going to have to wear?' 32 For the heathen are greedily pursuing all such things; and surely your heavenly Father well knows that you need them all. 33 But as your first duty keep on looking for His standard of doing right, and for His will, and then all these things will be yours besides.

Matthew 10:9-10

9 Do not accept gold or silver or even copper money for your purse, 10 and do not take a bag for your journey, nor two shirts, nor any shoes, nor a staff, for the workman deserves his support.

Mark 6:8-9

8 He ordered them not to take anything for the journey except a staff, no bread, no bag, no money in the purse; 9 they were to go with plain sandals on their feet and not to wear two shirts.

29 So you must stop seeking what to eat and what to drink, and must stop being in suspense about these things. 30 For all these are the very things the nations of the world are greedily trying to get, and surely your Father well knows that you need them. 31 But continue to seek His will, and these things will be yours besides.

Matthew 10:22-25

22 And you will be hated by all men, because you bear my name, but whoever bears up to the end will be saved. 23 But whenever they persecute you in one town, flee to a different one. For I solemnly say to you, you will not cover all the towns of Israel before the Son of Man returns. 24 No pupil is better than his teacher, and no slave is better than his master. 25 The pupil should be satisfied to become like his teacher, and the slave should be satisfied to become like his master. If men have called the Head of the house Beelzebub, how much worse names will they heap upon the members of His family!

John 15:20

20 Remember what I once told you: No slave is greater than his master. If they have persecuted me, they will persecute you too. If they have observed my teaching, they will observe yours too.

John 16:33

33 I have told you these things, that you through union with me may have peace. In the world you have trouble, but be courageous! I have conquered the world."

1 Thessalonians 2:14-15

14 For you, brothers, followed the example of God's churches in Judea that are in union with Christ Jesus, for you too have suffered the same sort of ill-treatment at the hands of your fellow-countrymen as they did at the hands of the Jews, 15 who killed the Lord Jesus and persecuted the prophets and us; and who continue to displease God and show themselves in opposition to all mankind,

1 Thessalonians 3:4

4 for when we were with you, we told you beforehand that we were going to be pressed with difficulties, and it took place, as you know.

1 Peter 4:1

1 So then, since Christ has suffered in our physical form, you too must arm yourselves with the same determination. For whoever suffers in his physical form has done with sin,

Matthew 26:54-56

54 How then could the Scriptures be fulfilled, for they say this is the way it must be?" 55 At that time Jesus said to the crowds: "Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest me, as though I were a robber? Day after day I used to sit teaching in the temple, and you never laid hands on me. 56 But this has all taken place so that the writings of the prophets may be fulfilled." Then the disciples all forsook Him and made their escape.

Mark 15:27

27 They crucified two robbers along with Him, one at His right and one at His left.

4 I have glorified you down here upon the earth by completing the work which you have given me to do.

John 19:28-30

28 After this, as Jesus knew that everything was now finished, that the Scripture might be fulfilled, He said, "I am thirsty." 29 A bowl full of sour wine was sitting there. So they put a sponge soaked in sour wine on a stick and put it to His lips. 30 As soon as Jesus took the sour wine, He said, "It is finished!" Then He bowed His head and gave up His spirit.

Acts 13:27-29

27 For the people of Jerusalem and their leaders, because they were ignorant of Him, by condemning Him have actually fulfilled the utterances of the prophets which are read every Sabbath, 28 and although they could not find Him guilty of a capital offense, they begged Pilate to have Him put to death. 29 When they had carried out everything that had been written in the Scriptures about Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb.

2 Corinthians 10:3-4

3 For though I do still live the life of a physical human creature, I am not waging this war in accordance with physical human standards, 4 for the weapons used in my warfare are not mere human ones, but through my God are mighty for demolishing fortresses.

Ephesians 6:10-18

10 From now on you must grow stronger through union with the Lord and through His mighty power. 11 You must put on God's full armor, so as to be able to stand up against the devil's stratagems. 12 For our contest is not with human foes alone, but with the rulers, authorities, and cosmic powers of this dark world; that is, with the spirit-forces of evil challenging us in the heavenly contest. 13 So you must take on God's full armor, so as to be able to take a stand in the day when evil attacks you, and, after having completely finished the contest, to hold your own. 14 Hold your position, then, with your waist encircled with the belt of truth, put on right-doing as a coat of mail, 15 and put on your feet the preparation the good news of peace supplies. 16 Besides all these, take on the shield which faith provides, for with it you will be able to put out all the fire-tipped arrows shot by the evil one, 17 take the helmet salvation provides, and take the sword the Spirit wields, which is the word of God. 18 Keep on praying in the Spirit, with every kind of prayer and entreaty, at every opportunity, be ever on the alert with perfect devotion and entreaty for all God's people,

1 Thessalonians 5:8

8 but let us who belong to the day keep sober, clothed with faith and love for a coat of mail and with the hope of salvation for a helmet. 9 Resist him and be strong in faith, because you know that your brotherhood all over the world is experiencing the same sort of sufferings.

You must stay here and keep watching with me." 39 Then He walked on a few steps and threw Himself upon His face, and in this attitude continued to pray, and say, "My Father, if it is possible, let this cup pass by me; and yet, I pray, not what I want but what you want." 40 Then He came back to the disciples and found them asleep. He said to Peter, "Could you not then watch with me a single hour? 41 You must all keep watching and praying that you may not be exposed to temptation. Man's spirit is willing but human nature is weak." 42 A second time He went away and prayed, "My Father, if it cannot pass by without my drinking it, your will be done." 43 He came back again and found them still sleeping, for their eyes were so heavy they could hardly hold them open. 44 Then He left them again and prayed the third time, using the same words. 45 After that He came back to the disciples and said to them: "Still sleeping! Still resting! See! The time has come for the Son of Man to be betrayed into the hands of sinful men! 46 Get up and let us be going. Look! Here comes my betrayer!"

Mark 14:32-42

32 Then they came to the place called Gethsemane, and He said to His disciples, "Sit down here while I pray." 33 And he took Peter, James, and John along with Him, and He began to feel completely dazed and to realize His anguish of heart, 34 and so He said to them, "My heart is breaking, it almost kills me! You must stay here and keep watching." 35 Then He walked on a few steps and threw Himself upon the ground and kept praying that if it were possible He might escape the hour of agony, 36 and He was saying, "Abba [which means 'Father'], anything is possible for you! Take this cup away from me! Yet, I pray, not what I want but what you want!" 37 And He went back and found them asleep, and He said to Peter, "Simon, are you asleep? Could you not watch a single hour? 38 You must all keep watching and praying that you may not be exposed to temptation. Man's spirit is willing but human nature is weak." 39 He went away again and prayed in the same words. 40 When He went back again, He found them asleep again, for their eyes were so heavy they could hardly hold them open; and they did not know what answer to make Him. 41 He came back the third time and said to them, "Are you still sleeping and resting? No more of that! The hour has come. See! The Son of Man is betrayed into the hands of sinful men. 42 Get up, let us be going. Look! here comes my betrayer!"

2 Corinthians 12:7-10

7 So, to keep me from being over-elated, there was sent upon me a physical disease, sharp as a piercing stake, a messenger of Satan, to continue afflicting me, and so to keep me, I repeat, from being over-elated. 8 Three times I begged the Lord about this to make it go away and leave me, 9 but He said to me, "My spiritual strength is sufficient, for it is only by means of conscious weakness that perfect power is developed." 10 So I most happily boast about my weaknesses, so that the strength of Christ may overshadow me. That is why I take such pleasure in weaknesses, insults, distresses, persecution, and difficulties, which I endure for Christ's sake, for it is when I am consciously weak that I am really strong.

Ephesians 6:18-19

18 Keep on praying in the Spirit, with every kind of prayer and entreaty, at every opportunity, be ever on the alert with perfect devotion and entreaty for all God's people, 19 and for me that a message may be given me when I open my lips, so that I may boldly make known the open secret of the good news,

Do this as a memorial to me." 20 In like manner after supper He took a cup of wine, and said, "This cup of wine is the new covenant to be ratified by my blood, which is to be poured out for you.

The time has come for the Son of Man to be betrayed into the hands of sinful men! 46 Get up and let us be going. Look! Here comes my betrayer!" 47 Even while He was still speaking, here came Judas, one of the Twelve, and with him a crowd, with swords and clubs, from the high priests and the elders of the people. 48 Now His betrayer had given them a signal by saying, "The one I kiss is He. Seize Him!" 49 And he went straight up to Jesus and said, "Good evening, Rabbi," and affectionately kissed Him. 50 Jesus said to him, "My friend, do what you came for." Then they came up, laid hands on Jesus, and arrested Him. 51 One of the men with Jesus put out his hand and drew his sword, and with a thrust at the high priest's slave cut off his ear. 52 Then Jesus said to him, "Put your sword back where it belongs, for all who wield the sword will die by the sword. 53 Do you suppose that I am unable to appeal to my Father and have Him furnish me on the spot one hundred thousand angels?

Look! here comes my betrayer!" 43 At that very moment, while He was still speaking, Judas, one of the Twelve, came up, and with him a crowd of men with swords and clubs, from the high priests, scribes, and elders. 44 Now His betrayer had given them a signal, saying, "The one I kiss is He; seize Him and lead Him safely away." 45 So when he came he went straight up to Jesus, and said, "Rabbi," and with much affection kissed Him. 46 Then they laid hands on Him and arrested Him. 47 But one of the bystanders drew his sword and struck at the high priest's slave and cut his ear off. 48 And Jesus spoke and said to them, "Have you come out with swords and clubs to arrest me, as though I were a robber? 49 Day after day I used to be with you teaching in the temple, and you never laid hands on me. But this is so to fulfill the Scriptures." 50 Then all His disciples forsook Him and made their escape.

Luke 22:3-6

3 But Satan entered into Judas, who is called Iscariot, who belonged to the circle of the Twelve. 4 So he went off and discussed with the high priests and captains of the temple how he could betray Him to them. 5 They were delighted and made a bargain to pay him for it. 6 He in turn accepted their offer and began to seek a favorable opportunity to betray Him to them without exciting an uprising.

John 18:2-11

2 Now Judas, too, who betrayed Him, knew the spot, because Jesus had often met with His disciples there. 3 So Judas got together the Roman garrison and some attendants from the high priests and Pharisees, and went there with lanterns and torches and weapons. 4 Then Jesus, as He knew everything that was going to befall Him, came forward and asked them, "Who is it that you are looking for?" 5 They answered Him, "Jesus of Nazareth." He said to them, "I am He." And Judas who betrayed Him was standing among them. 6 So when He said to them, "I am He," they took a lurch backward and fell to the ground. 7 So once more He asked them, "Who is it that you are looking for?" They said, "Jesus of Nazareth." 8 Jesus answered, "I have already told you that I am He; so if you are really looking for me, let these men go." 9 He said this that the statement He had just made might be fulfilled, "I have not lost one of those whom you have given me." 10 So Simon Peter, who had a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's slave and cut off his right ear. The slave's name was Malchus. 11 Then Jesus said to Peter, "Put your sword back into the sheath. Must I not drink the cup which the Father has handed me?"

1 Peter 2:21-23

21 Indeed, it was to this kind of living that you were called, because Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example that you might follow His footsteps. 22 He never committed a sin, and deceit was never found on His lips. 23 Although He was abused, He never retorted; although He continued to suffer, He never threatened, but committed His case to Him who judges justly.

2 Corinthians 4:3-6

3 If the meaning of the good news I preach is covered up at all, it is so only in the case of those who are on the way to destruction. 4 In their case, the god of this world has blinded the eyes of the unbelievers, to keep the glorious light of the good news of Christ, who is the likeness of God, from dawning upon them. 5 For I am not proclaiming myself but Christ Jesus as Lord, and myself a slave of yours for Jesus' sake. 6 For God who said, "Let light shine out of darkness," is the One who has shone in my heart, to give me the light of the knowledge of God's glory, reflected on the face of Christ.

Alas for the earth and the sea, because the devil has come down to you in a great rage, since he knows that his time is short!"

Matthew 26:57-58

57 The men who had laid hands on Jesus took Him away to Caiaphas, the high priest, at whose home the scribes and elders had met. 58 And Peter followed Him at a distance as far as the courtyard of the high priest's home; he even went inside and was sitting among the attendants to see how it would end.

And that other disciple was acquainted with the high priest, and so went on with Jesus into the high priest's courtyard, 16 but Peter stood outside before the door. So this other disciple, who was acquainted with the high priest, stepped out and spoke to the woman doorkeeper and brought Peter in. 17 Then the servant girl at the door said to Peter, "You too are not one of this man's disciples, are you?" 59 Now the high priests and the whole council were trying to get false testimony against Jesus, to have Him put to death; 60 but they could not, although many false witnesses came forward to testify. At last two men came forward 61 and said, "This man said, 'I can tear down the temple of God, and build it again in three days.'" 62 Then the high priest arose and said to Him, "Have you no answer to make? What do you say to the evidence that they bring against you?" 63 But Jesus kept silent. So the high priest said to Him, "I charge you, on your oath, in the name of the living God, tell us whether you are the Christ, the Son of God." 64 Jesus answered him, "Yes, I am. But I tell you, you will all soon see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Almighty, and coming on the clouds of the sky." 65 Then the high priest tore his clothes, and said, "He has uttered blasphemy, What more evidence do we need? You have just heard His blasphemy. 66 What do you think now?" He is the king of Israel, is He? Well, let Him come down from the cross, and we will believe in Him. 43 He has put His trust in God; let God deliver Him now, if He cares for Him, for He said, 'I am the Son of God.'" 44 Even the robbers who were crucified with Him made sport of Him in the same way.

Mark 14:55-65

55 The high priests and the whole council were trying to get evidence against Jesus to put Him to death, but they could find none, 56 for although many men gave false testimony against Him, their testimonies did not agree. 57 Some took the witness stand and gave this false testimony against Him: 58 "We ourselves have heard Him say, 'I will tear down this temple built by men's hands, and in three days I will build another, made without hands.'" 59 But even in this matter their testimony did not agree. 60 Then the high priest arose in the midst and asked Jesus, "Have you no answer to make? What about this testimony they are giving against you?" 61 But He kept silent and made no answer at all. So the high priest again questioned Him in these words, "Are you the Christ, the Son of the Blessed One?" 62 Jesus said, "Yes, I am, and you will all see the Son of Man seated at the right hand of the Almighty and coming in the clouds of the sky!" 63 Then the high priest tore his clothes and said, "What more evidence do we need now? 64 Did you hear His own blasphemy? What do you think now?" 3 "Are you the One who was to come, or should we keep on looking for a different one?" 4 And Jesus answered them, "Go and tell John what you hear and see: 5 the blind are seeing and the crippled are walking, the lepers are being healed and the deaf are hearing, the dead are being raised and the poor are having the good news preached to them.

Mark 14:61-66

61 But He kept silent and made no answer at all. What do you think now?" And they all condemned Him as deserving to die. 65 And some of them started to spit on Him and to blindfold Him and to hit Him with their fists, and say to Him, "Now play the prophet!" Even the attendants took charge of Him with slaps at Him. 66 While Peter was down in the courtyard, one of the high priest's waiting girls came up,

John 5:39-47

39 "You keep on searching the Scriptures, for you yourselves suppose that you will get possession of eternal life through them; and yet they are witnesses that testify to me, 40 but you refuse to come to me to get possession of life. 41 I do not accept any honor from men, 42 but I am sure that you do not have the love of God in your hearts. 43 I have come in my Father's name, but you refuse to accept me. If anyone else should come in his own name, you would accept him. 44 How can you believe, you who are always accepting honor from one another, but never seek the honor that comes from the one God? 45 Do not be thinking that I am going to accuse you to the Father. You have your accuser; it is Moses on whom you have set your hopes! 46 For if you really believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote about me. 47 But if you do not believe what he wrote, how will you ever believe what I say?"

John 8:43-45

43 Why is it that you misunderstand what I say? It is because you cannot listen to what I teach. 44 You sprang from the devil, your real father, and you want to practice your father's wishes. He was a murderer from the very start, and he does not stand by the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he tells a lie, he speaks out of his own nature, because he is a liar and the father of lies. 45 But because I tell you the truth, you do not believe me.

John 9:27-28

27 He answered them, "I have already told you and you would not listen to me. Why do you want to hear it again? You do not want to become His disciples, do you?" 28 Then they jeered him, and said, "You are a disciple of His yourself, but we are disciples of Moses.

And to whom has the mighty arm of the Lord been shown?" 39 So they could not believe, for Isaiah again has said: 40 "He has blinded their eyes and benumbed their hearts, so that they cannot see with their eyes and understand with their hearts, and turn to me to cure them." 41 Isaiah said this, because he saw His glory; yes, he spoke about Him. 42 And yet in spite of all this, even among the leading men many came to believe in Him, but because of the Pharisees they did not own it, for fear of being turned out of the synagogue, 43 for they loved the praise of men instead of the praise of God.
