Mark 16 Cross References - Williams

1 When the Sabbath had ended, Mary of Magdala, Mary, James's mother, and Salome bought spices to go and anoint Him. 2 It was very early, just after the sun had risen, on the first day of the week, when they went to the tomb. 3 And they kept saying to one another, "Who will roll the boulder back from the doorway of the tomb for us?" 4 Then they looked up and saw that the boulder had already been rolled to one side, for it was a very large one. 5 And when they went into the tomb, they saw a young man dressed in a white robe sitting at the right; and they were utterly astounded. 6 But he said to them, "You must not be so astounded; you are looking for Jesus of Nazareth who was crucified. He has risen; He is not here. See! Here is the spot where they laid Him. 7 But you go and tell His disciples and Peter, 'He is going back to Galilee to meet you; you will see Him there, just as He told you.'" 8 Then they left the tomb and fled, for they were trembling and bewildered, and they did not tell anybody a single thing about it, for they were afraid to do so. 9 Now after He had risen, early on the first day of the week, He appeared first to Mary of Magdala, out of whom He had driven seven demons. 10 She went out and told it to His disciples, while they were mourning and weeping. 11 But although they had heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it. 12 After this He showed Himself in a different form to two of them as they were walking along, on their way into the country. 13 Then they went back and told the rest, but they would not believe them either. 14 Later on He appeared to the Eleven themselves while they were at table, and reproved them for their lack of faith and their stubbornness, because they had not believed those who had seen Him after He had been raised from the dead. 15 Then He said to them, "You must go all over the world and preach the good news to all the creation. 16 He who believes it and is baptized will be saved, but he who does not believe it will be condemned. 17 And the following signs will attend those who believe: By using my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in foreign languages; 18 they will take snakes in their hands; even if they drink anything poisonous, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well." 19 So the Lord Jesus, after He had spoken to them, was caught up into heaven and took His seat at God's right hand. 20 Then they went out and preached everywhere, while the Lord kept on working with them and confirming their message by the signs that attended it.

Matthew 28:1-10

1 After the sabbath, as the first day of the week was dawning, Mary of Magdala and the other Mary went to get a look at the tomb. 2 Now there had been a great earthquake. For an angel of the Lord came down from heaven and went and rolled the boulder back and remained sitting upon it. 3 His appearance was as bright as lightning and his clothes as white as snow. 4 The men on guard trembled in awe of him, and became like dead men. 5 And the angel said to the women, "Do not be afraid, for I know that you are looking for Jesus who was crucified. 6 He is not here; He has risen, as He said He would do. Come, get a look at the place where He was lying. 7 Then run and tell His disciples, 'He has risen from the dead, and is going back to Galilee ahead of you; you will see Him there.' This is my message to you." 8 So off they hurried from the tomb, frightened and yet in ecstasy, and ran to break the news to His disciples. 9 Then Jesus met them Himself, and said, "Good morning!" And they went up to Him and clasped His feet, and worshiped Him. 10 Then Jesus said to them, "Do not be afraid. Go, tell my brothers to go back to Galilee, and there they will see me."

So they stopped and stood still with puzzled countenances. 18 Finally one of them, whose name was Cleopas, answered Him, "Are you the only visitor to Jerusalem who has not heard of the things that have taken place there in these last days?" 19 And He said to them, "What sort of things?" They answered Him, "The things about Jesus of Nazareth, who in the sight of God and of all the people became a prophet mighty in deed and word, 20 and how the high priests and leading men turned Him over to be sentenced to death, and had Him crucified. 21 But we kept hoping that He was the One who was coming to set Israel free. Matthew 17:20

20 He answered them, "Because you have so little faith! For I solemnly say to you, if you have the faith that is living like a grain of mustard, you can say to this mountain, 'Move over from here to yonder,' and it will move over, and nothing will be impossible for you to do."

17 And as He noticed it He said to them, "Why are you discussing the fact that you have no bread? Do you not yet know nor understand? Are your minds so dull? 18 Since you have eyes can you not see with them? Since you have ears can you not hear with them?

Mark 16:11-13

11 But although they had heard that He was alive and had been seen by her, they would not believe it. 12 After this He showed Himself in a different form to two of them as they were walking along, on their way into the country. 13 Then they went back and told the rest, but they would not believe them either.

Luke 24:25

25 Then He said to them, "O men sluggish in mind and slow in heart to believe all that the prophets have said!

Luke 24:36-43

36 Even while they were talking about these things, He took His stand among them Himself, [and said to them, "Peace to you!"] 37 and they were so startled and terror-stricken that they were beginning to think that they saw a ghost. 38 But He said to them, "Why are you so disturbed and why are doubts arising in your hearts? 39 Look at my hands and my feet, for it is I, myself. Feel of me and see for yourselves, for a ghost does not have flesh and bones, as you see I have." 40 [After He had said this He showed them His hands and His feet.] 41 So while they were still disbelieving for sheer joy and still wondering about it, He asked them, "Have you anything here to eat?" 42 Then they gave Him a piece of broiled fish, 43 and He took it and ate it before their eyes.

John 20:19-20

19 In the evening of that same first day of the week, even with the doors of the room bolted where the disciples had met for fear of the Jews, Jesus went in and stood among them and said to them, "Peace be with you!" 20 On saying this, He showed them His hands and His side, and the disciples were thrilled with joy over seeing their Lord.

John 20:27

27 Then He said to Thomas, "Put your finger here and look at my hands, and take your hand and put it in my side, and stop being an unbeliever, but be a believer!"

Hebrews 3:7-8

7 Therefore, as the Holy Spirit says: "If you but hear His voice today, 8 You must not harden your hearts as they did in provoking me, as on the day in the desert they tested me,

Hebrews 3:15-19

15 and yet the warning continues to be spoken: "If you but hear His voice, you must not harden your hearts as they did in provoking me." 16 For who was it that heard and yet provoked Him? Was it not all who came out of Egypt led by Moses? 17 With whom was He disgusted forty years? Was it not with those who had sinned, whose carcasses fell in the desert? 18 To whom did He take oath that they should not be admitted to His rest, if it was not to those who disobeyed Him? 19 So we see that it was because of their unbelief that they could not be admitted to it.

Revelation 3:19

19 The people whom I dearly love, I always reprove and discipline. So keep on being earnest and once for all repent.

21 So the slave returned and reported these answers to his master. Then the master of the house became angry and said to his slave, 'Hurry out into the streets and lanes of the city and bring in here the poor, the maimed, the crippled, and the blind.' 22 Then the slave said, 'Sir, what you ordered has been done, and still there is room.' 23 "Then the master said to his slave, 'Go out on the roads and by the hedges and make the people come in, so that my house may be filled.

21 Jesus again said to them, "Peace be with you! Just as my Father has sent me forth, so I am now sending you."

12 But to all who did accept Him, and trust in His name, He gave the right to become the children of God, 13 who were born of God and not of natural blood nor of physical or human impulse.

John 3:5

5 Jesus answered, "I most solemnly say to you, no one can ever get into the kingdom of God, unless he is born of water and the Spirit.

John 3:15-16

15 so that everyone who trusts in Him may have eternal life. 16 "For God loved the world so much that He gave His Only Son, so that anyone who trusts in Him may never perish but have eternal life.

John 3:18-19

18 Whoever trusts in Him is never to come up for judgment, but whoever does not trust in Him has already received his sentence, because he has not trusted in the name of God's only Son. 19 And the ground for the sentence is this, that the light has come into the world, and yet, because their actions were evil, men have loved darkness more than the light.

John 3:36

36 Whoever trusts in the Son possesses eternal life, but whoever refuses to trust in the Son will not see life, but the wrath of God continues to remain on him.

John 5:24

24 "I most solemnly say to you, whoever listens to me and believes Him who has sent me possesses eternal life, and will never come under condemnation, but has already passed out of death into life.

25 Jesus said to her, "I am the resurrection and the life myself. Whoever continues to believe in me will live right on even though he dies, 26 and no person who continues to live and believe in me will ever die at all. Do you believe this?"

John 12:46-48

46 I have come as light into the world, so that no one who continues to believe in me can remain in darkness. 47 If anyone hears my words and fails to keep them, it is not I that judge him, for I have not come to judge but to save the world. 48 Whoever persistently rejects me and refuses to accept my teachings has something to judge him -- the very message I have spoken will judge him on the last day.

John 20:31

31 But these have been recorded, in order that you may believe that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of God, and that through believing you may have life, as bearers of His name.

Acts 8:36-39

36 As they continued down the road, they came to some water, and the official said, "Look! here is some water! What is there to keep me from being baptized?" 37 Omitted Text. 38 So he ordered the chariot to stop, and Philip and the official both went down into the water, and Philip baptized him. 39 When they came up out of the water, the Spirit of the Lord suddenly took Philip away; the official saw him no more, for he went on home rejoicing;

Romans 4:24

24 it was for our sakes too, for it is going to be credited to us who put our faith in God who raised from the dead our Lord Jesus,

Romans 10:9-14

9 For if with your lips you acknowledge the fact that Jesus is Lord, and in your hearts you believe that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. 10 For in their hearts people exercise the faith that leads to right standing, and with their lips they make the acknowledgment which means salvation. 11 For the Scripture says, "No one who puts his faith in Him will ever be put to shame." 12 But there is no distinction between Jew and Greek, for the same Lord is over them all, because He is infinitely kind to all who call upon Him. 13 For everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved. 14 But how can people call upon One in whom they have not believed? And how can they believe in One about whom they have not heard? And how can people hear without someone to preach to them?

38 Meantime, my righteous servant will live by faith. But if a man draws back, my soul has no delight in him." 39 But we are not of a disposition to draw back so as to perish, but we have faith that leads to the saving of the soul.

21 Baptism, which corresponds to this figure, now saves you, too -- I do not mean the mere removal of physical stains, but the craving for a clear conscience toward God -- through the resurrection of Jesus Christ,

1 John 5:10-13

10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony in his own heart. Whoever does not believe God has made Him a liar, because he has not believed the testimony that God has borne to His Son. 11 And this testimony is that God has given us eternal life, and this life is given through union with His Son. 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son does not have life. 13 I have written this to you who believe in the person of the Son of God, so that you may know that you already have eternal life.

15 If anyone's name was not found written in the book of life, he was hurled into the fiery lake.

17 Now the seventy returned and joyously reported, "Lord, even the demons are submitting to us in your name."

John 14:12

12 I most solemnly say to you, whoever perseveres in believing in me can himself do the things that I am doing; yes, he can do even greater things than I am doing, because I am going to the Father.

Acts 2:4-11

4 and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in foreign languages as the Spirit granted them to utter divine things. 5 Now there were devout Jews from every part of the world living in Jerusalem. 6 And when this sound was heard, the crowd rushed together in great excitement, because each one heard them speaking in his own language. 7 They were perfectly astounded, and in bewilderment they continued to say, "Are not all these men who are speaking Galileans? 8 So how is it that each of us hears them speaking in his own native tongue? 9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, residents of Mesopotamia, of Judea and Cappadocia, of Pontus and Asia, 10 of Phrygia and Pamphylia, of Egypt and the district of Libya around Cyrene, transient dwellers from Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs -- we hear them all alike telling in our own tongues the great wonders of God."

Acts 2:33

33 So He has been exalted to God's right hand and has received from His Father, as promised, and poured out upon us the Holy Spirit, as you see and hear.

Acts 19:6

6 and when Paul laid his hands upon them, the Holy Spirit came upon them, and they began to speak in foreign tongues and to prophesy.

Acts 19:12-16

12 as an instrument that the people carried off to the sick, towels or aprons used by him, and at their touch they were cured of their diseases, and the evil spirits went out of them. 13 But some wandering Jews who claimed to be driving out the evil spirits tried to use the name of the Lord Jesus on those who had evil spirits in them, saying, "I command you by that Jesus whom Paul preaches!" 14 Sceva, a Jewish high priest, had seven sons who were doing this. 15 But on one occasion the evil spirit answered, "Jesus I know and Paul I know about, but who are you?" 16 So the man in whom the evil spirit was, leaped upon them and so violently overpowered two of them that they ran out of the house stripped of their clothes and wounded.

1 Corinthians 12:10

10 to another, power for working wonders; to another, prophetic insight; to another, the power to discriminate between the true Spirit and false spirits; to another, various ecstatic utterances; and to another, the power to explain them.

1 Corinthians 12:28

28 And God has placed people in the church, first as apostles, second as prophets, third as teachers, then wonder-workers; then people with power to cure the sick, helpers, managers, ecstatic speakers.

1 Corinthians 12:30

30 Not all are people with power to cure the sick, are they? Not all are ecstatic speakers, are they? Not all can explain ecstatic speaking, can they?

1 Corinthians 13:1

1 If I could speak the languages of men, of angels too, and have no love, I am only a rattling pan or a clashing cymbal.

1 Corinthians 14:2

2 For whoever speaks in ecstasy is speaking not to men but to God, for no one understands him, and yet by the Spirit he is speaking secret truths.

1 Corinthians 14:4-26

4 Whoever speaks in ecstasy builds up himself alone, but whoever prophesies builds up the congregation too. 5 I would like for all of you to speak in ecstasy, but I would rather that you prophesy. The man who speaks with real prophetic insight renders greater service than the man who speaks in ecstasy, unless the latter explains it, so the congregation may receive an uplift. 6 But as it now is, brothers, if I do come back to you speaking in ecstasy, what good shall I do you, unless my speech contains a revelation or new knowledge or a prophetic message or some teaching? 7 Even inanimate things, like the flute or the harp, may give out sounds, but if there is no difference in the notes, how can the tune that is played on the flute or the harp be told? 8 Again, indeed, if the bugle does not sound a call distinct and clear, who will prepare for battle? 9 So it is with you; unless in your ecstatic speaking you speak a message that is clearly intelligible, how can the message spoken by you be understood? You might just as well be talking to the air! 10 There are, supposedly, ever so many languages in the world, and not one is without its own meaning. 11 So if I do not know the meaning of the language, I should be a foreigner to the man who speaks it, and he would be a foreigner to me. 12 So, as you are ambitious for spiritual gifts, you must keep trying to excel for the upbuilding of the church. 13 Therefore, the man who speaks in ecstasy must pray for power to explain what he says. 14 For if I pray in ecstasy, my spirit is praying, but my mind produces no results for anyone. 15 What is my conclusion then? I will certainly pray with my spirit, but I will pray with my mind in action too. I will certainly sing with my spirit, but I will sing with my mind in action too. For if you give thanks with your spirit only, 16 how is the man who occupies the place of the illiterate to say "Amen" to your thanksgiving? For he does not know what you are saying. 17 You are, indeed, doing right to give thanks, but your neighbor is not built up. 18 Thank God, I speak in ecstasy more than any of you. 19 But in the public congregation I would rather speak five words with my mind in action, in order to instruct the people too, than ten thousand words in ecstasy. 20 Brothers, stop being children in intelligence, but as to evil keep on being babies; and yet as to intelligence be men of maturity. 21 In the law it is written, "By men of foreign languages and by the lips of foreigners I will speak to this people, but even then they will not listen to me, says the Lord." 22 So speaking in ecstasy is meant as a sign, not for believers but for unbelievers, while prophecy is meant, not for unbelievers but for believers. 23 Hence, if the whole church has met and everybody speaks in ecstasy, and illiterate people or unbelievers come in, will they not say that you are crazy? 24 But if everybody prophesies, and some unbeliever or illiterate man comes in, he is convinced of his sins by all, he is closely questioned by all, 25 the secrets of his heart are laid bare, he falls upon his face and worships God, declaring, "God is really among you." 26 Then what is our conclusion, brothers? When you meet together, everybody has a song, something to teach, a revelation, an ecstatic utterance, or an explanation of one. It must all be for the upbuilding of all.

Mark 5:23

23 and kept earnestly begging Him, saying, "My dear little daughter is at the point of death. Come, lay your hands on her, so that she may get well and live."

17 So Ananias left and went to that house, and there he laid his hands upon Saul, and said, "Saul, my. brother, the Lord Jesus, who appeared to you on the road on which you were coming here, has sent me that you may regain your sight and be filled with the Holy Spirit." 18 And all at once something like scales fell from his eyes, he regained his sight, got up and was baptized,

3 Paul, too, gathered a bundle of sticks, and as he put them on the fire, because of the heat, a viper crawled out of them and fastened itself upon his hand. 4 When the natives saw the reptile hanging from his hand, they said to one another, "Beyond a doubt this man is a murderer, for though he has been rescued from the sea, justice will not let him live." 5 But he simply shook the reptile off into the fire and suffered no harm. 6 The natives kept on looking for him to swell up or suddenly drop dead, but after waiting a long time and seeing nothing unusual take place on him, they changed their minds and said that he was a god.

Matthew 28:18-20

18 Then Jesus came up to them, and said, "Full authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go then and make disciples of all the nations, baptize them into the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, 20 and teach them to practice all the commands that I have given you. Beginning at Jerusalem 48 you are to continue as witnesses to these things. 49 And I will send down upon you what my Father has promised. But you, on your part, must stay right here in the city until you are clothed with power from on high." 50 Then He led them out as far as Bethany, and lifted up His hands and blessed them. 51 And while He was blessing them, He parted from them, and was taken up to heaven.

Ephesians 4:8-11

8 Concerning this the Scripture says: "He led a host of captives, when He went up on high, and granted gifts to men." 9 What does "He went up" mean, except that He had first gone down into the lower regions of the earth? 10 The very One that went down has gone up, too, far above all the heavens, to fill the universe. 11 And He has given some men to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists, some to be pastors and teachers,

Colossians 3:1

1 So if you have been raised to life in fellowship with Christ, keep on seeking the things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God.

1 Timothy 3:16

16 Undoubtedly the mystery of our religion is a great wonder: "He was made visible in human form; He was vindicated by the Spirit; He was seen by angels; He was proclaimed among the heathen; He was trusted in throughout the world; He was taken up to glory."

Hebrews 1:3

3 He is the reflection of God's glory and the perfect representation of His being, and continues to uphold the universe by His mighty word. After He had procured man's purification from sins, He took His seat at the right hand of God's majesty,

Acts 2:1-28

1 When the day of Pentecost had now come, they were all meeting in one mind, 2 when suddenly there came from heaven a sound like a terrific blast of wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting, 3 And they saw tongues like flames of fire separating and resting on their heads, one to each of them, 4 and they were all filled with the Holy Spirit, and began to speak in foreign languages as the Spirit granted them to utter divine things. 9 Parthians, Medes, Elamites, residents of Mesopotamia, of Judea and Cappadocia, of Pontus and Asia, 10 of Phrygia and Pamphylia, of Egypt and the district of Libya around Cyrene, transient dwellers from Rome, Jews and proselytes, 11 Cretans and Arabs -- we hear them all alike telling in our own tongues the great wonders of God." 12 And thus they all continued to be astounded and bewildered, and continued to say to each other, "What can this mean?" 13 But others in derision were saying, "They are running over with new wine." 14 Then Peter stood with the Eleven around him, and raising his voice he addressed them, "Men of Judea and all you residents of Jerusalem, let me explain this to you, and give close attention to my words. 15 These men are not drunk as you suppose, for it is only nine o'clock in the morning. 16 But this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel: 17 'It will occur in the last days, says God, that I will pour out my Spirit upon all mankind. Your sons and daughters will prophesy. Your young men will have visions. Your old men will have dreams. 18 Even on my slaves, both men and women, I will pour out my Spirit in those days, and they will become prophets. 19 I will show wonders in the sky above, and signs upon the earth below, yes, blood and fire and smoky mist. 20 The sun will turn to darkness, and the moon to blood, before the coming of the great and glorious day of the Lord. 21 Then everyone who calls upon the name of the Lord will be saved.' 22 "Fellow Israelites, listen to what I say. Jesus of Nazareth, as you yourselves well know, a man accredited to you by God through mighty deeds and wonders and wonder-works which God performed through Him right here among you, 23 this very Jesus, I say, after He was betrayed, in accordance with the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you had wicked men kill by nailing Him to a cross; 24 but God raised Him up by loosing Him from the pangs of death, since it was impossible for Him to be held by the power of death. 25 For David says of Him: 'I always kept my eyes upon the Lord, for He is at my right hand, so that I may not be removed. 26 So my heart is glad and my tongue exults, and my body still lives in hope. 27 For you will not forsake my soul to Hades. Nor will you let your Holy One experience decay. 28 You have made known to me the ways of life, and you will fill me with delight in your presence.'
