¹⁶ And others, tempting, were seeking of Him a sign from heaven.

³⁸ Then some of the scribes and Pharisees answered Him, saying, "Teacher, we wish to see a sign from Thee." ³⁹ And He, answering, said to them, "An evil and adulterous generation is seeking after a sign; and no sign shall be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet.

¹ And the Pharisees and Sadducees, coming near, tempting Him, asked Him to show them a sign from the heaven; ² and He, answering, said to them, "When it is evening, ye say, 'It will be fair, for the heaven is red;' ³ and in the morning, 'Today, a tempest; for red is the overcast heaven.' The face of the heaven, indeed, ye know how to discern, but the signs of the times ye can not discern. ⁴ An evil and adulterous generation is seeking after a sign; and no sign will be given to it, except the sign of Jonah the prophet." And, leaving them, He departed.

¹¹ And the Pharisees came out, and began to discuss with Him, seeking from Him a sign from heaven, tempting Him. ¹² And, sighing deeply in His spirit, He saith, "Why does this generation seek a sign? verily I say to you, there shall no sign be given to this generation."
