¹⁶ And He came to Nazareth, where He had been brought up; and He went, according to His custom, into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up to read.

²³ and, coming, he dwelt in a city called Nazareth; that it might be fulfilled which was spoken through the prophets, "A Nazarene shall He be called."

⁵⁴ And, coming into His own country, He taught them in their synagogue, so that they were astonished, and said, "Whence hath this Man this wisdom, and the mighty works? ⁵⁵ Is not This the carpenter's Son? Is not His mother called Mary, and His brothers, James, and Joseph, and Simon, and Judas?

And many, hearing Him, were astonished, saying, "Whence hath this Man these things?" And, "What is the wisdom which is given to This Man?" And, "Such mighty works are wrought by His hands!" ³ "Is not This the Carpenter, the Son of Mary, and brother of James, and Joses, and Judas, and Simon? and are not His sisters here with us?" And they were finding occasion of stumbling in Him.

²⁶ And in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city of Galilee, the name of which was Nazareth, ²⁷ to a virgin espoused to a man whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the name of the virgin was Mary.

³⁹ And, when they accomplished all things according to the law of the Lord, they returned into Galilee, to their own city, Nazareth.

⁴² And, when He became twelve years old, they, going up according to the custom of the feast,

⁵¹ And He went down with them, and came into Nazareth, and was subject to them. And His mother kept all these sayings in her heart.

¹⁵ And He taught in their synagogues, being glorified by all.

²¹ And He began to say to them, "To-day has this Scripture been fulfilled in your ears."
