⁵ And that he was seen by Cephas, then by the twelve:

¹⁴ At last he appeared to the eleven as they were sitting at table, and upbraided them with their unbelief, and hardness of heart; because they did not believe those who had seen Him after He was risen.

³⁴ The Lord is risen indeed, and hath been seen by Simon. ³⁵ Then these also related what had happened by the way, and how He became known to them in breaking of bread. ³⁶ And as they were thus speaking, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be to you. ³⁷ But they being terrified and frighted, thought they saw a spirit. ³⁸ And He said to them, Why are ye troubled? and why do such thoughts rise in your hearts? ³⁹ Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. ⁴⁰ And when He said this, He shewed them his hands and feet. ⁴¹ But they not yet believing for joy, and being amazed, He said to them, Have ye here any thing to eat? ⁴² And they gave Him part of a broiled fish and some honey-comb: ⁴³ and He took, and did eat before them. ⁴⁴ And He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all the things must be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and Psalms, concerning me. ⁴⁵ Then He opened their mind, to understand the scriptures: ⁴⁶ and said unto them, thus it is written, and thus it was necessary that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead on the third day; ⁴⁷ and that in his name should be preached repentance and remission of sins to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ And ye are witnesses of these things: and I will send upon you the promise of my Father; ⁴⁹ but do ye continue in the city of Jerusalem, till ye are endued with power from on high.

⁴² And Andrew brought him to Jesus: and Jesus looking at him said, Thou art Simon the son of Jonas, thou shalt be called Cephas; which is interpreted a stone.

¹⁹ Now the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, and the doors where the disciples were being shut, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be to you. ²⁰ And when He had said this, He shewed them his hands and his side. The disciples therefore rejoiced when they saw the Lord. ²¹ Then said Jesus unto them again, Peace be to you. As my Father sent me, even so send I you. ²² And when He said this, He breathed upon them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the holy Spirit: ²³ and whose soever sins ye remit, they are remitted unto them; but whose soever sins ye retain, they are retained. ²⁴ But Thomas called Didymus, one of the twelve, was not with them when Jesus came. ²⁵ The other disciples therefore told him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and my hand into his side, I will not believe. ²⁶ And after eight days his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them: and Jesus came (the doors being shut as before) and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be to you.

² till the day in which He was taken up, after He had by the holy Spirit given instructions to the apostles whom He had chosen: ³ to whom also He presented Himself alive, after He had suffered, by many certain proofs; being seen among them for forty days, and speaking of the things relating to the kingdom of God. ⁴ And meeting them together He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, said He, ye have heard from me; ⁵ for John indeed baptized with water, but ye shall within a few days be baptized with the holy Spirit. ⁶ Being therefore come together they asked Him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore the kingdom to Israel? ⁷ And He said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or seasons, which the Father hath reserved in his own power. ⁸ But ye shall receive power from the holy Spirit coming upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth. ⁹ And having said these things, as they were looking upon Him, He was lifted up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. ¹⁰ And while they were looking stedfastly toward heaven, as He went up, behold two men in white stood by them; ¹¹ who said, Ye men of Galilee, why do ye stand gazing up to heaven? This Jesus who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in the manner ye have seen Him going into heaven. ¹² Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mountain called Olivet, which is from Jerusalem a sabbath-day's journey. ¹³ And when they were come in to the city, they went up into an upper room, where Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon the zealot, and Jude the brother of James, usually abode. ¹⁴ These all persevered with one accord in prayer and supplication with the women, and Mary the mother of Jesus, and his brethren.

⁴¹ but to witnesses before appointed by God, even to us, who did eat and drink with Him, after He rose from the dead.

¹² I mean, that each of you saith, as if of different parties, I am of Paul, and I of Apollos, I of Cephas, and I of Christ.

²² whether Paul, or Apollos, or Cephas, or the world, or life, or death, or things present, or future, all are yours;

⁵ we not power to lead about with us a sister a wife as well as other apostles, and the brethren of the Lord, and Cephas?
