¹⁹ We love Him, because He first loved us. If any one say,

⁴⁷ Wherefore, I tell thee, her sins though many are forgiven, for she loved much: but he to whom little is forgiven, loveth but little.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him might not perish, but have everlasting life:

¹⁶ Ye did not first choose me, but I chose you, and have appointed you to go forth, and bear fruit, and that your fruit should be lasting: that whatsoever ye ask the Father in my name, He may give it you.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ constraineth us, being fully persuaded of this, that if One died for all, then were all dead. ¹⁵ And He died for all, that those who live might no longer live to themselves, but to Him who died for them and rose again.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering,

³ among whom also we were all conversant heretofore in our carnal desires, indulging the appetites of the flesh and of our imaginations; and were by nature children of wrath, even as others. ⁴ But God being rich in mercy, through his great love wherewith He loved us, ⁵ hath made us alive in Christ, even when we were dead in trespasses, (for by grace ye are saved) and hath raised us up together,

³ For we also were formerly foolish, disobedient, going astray, enslaved to various disorderly appetites and pleasures, living in malice and envy, hateful, and hating one another. ⁴ But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour towards man appeared, ⁵ not for works of righteousness which we had done, but according to his own mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the holy Spirit;

¹⁰ Herein is love; not that we loved God, but that He loved us, and sent his Son to be a propitiation for our sins.
