⁵ Blessed are the meek; for they shall inherit the earth.

²⁹ Take but my yoke upon you, and learn of me, (for I am meek and lowly in heart,) and ye shall find refreshment to your souls:

⁵ behold, thy king cometh unto thee, meek, and sitting upon an ass, even a colt the fole of an ass.

²⁶ thou blind pharisee, cleanse first the inside of the cup and of the dish, that the outside of them may be also clean.

⁴⁰ Senseless creatures! Did not He who made the outside, make also that which is within? give alms rather according to your ability:

⁶ Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with Him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that we might no longer be inslaved to sin:

²² For I delight in the law of God, as to the inward man:

¹⁶ For which cause we are not disheartened: but though our outward man decayeth, yet the inward man is renewed daily.

¹ Now I Paul myself exhort you, by the meekness and lenity of Christ, who in presence am lowly among you,

²³ gentleness, goodness, fidelity, meekness, temperance: against such things there is no law.

² and with long-suffering forbear one another in love,

²² which according to your former conversation was corrupted with deceitful lusts, ²³ and be renewed in the spirit of your mind; ²⁴ and to put on the new man, which according to the image of God is created in righteousness, and true holiness.

³ For ye are dead as to the world, and your life is hid with Christ in God.

⁹ Lie not one to another, seeing ye have put off the old man with his evil practices; ¹⁰ and have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge, after the image of Him that created him.

¹² Put on therefore, as the elect of God holy and beloved, bowels of mercy, benignity, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;

¹¹ and endeavour to be quiet, and mind your own affairs, and work with your own hands,

¹² Such we charge and exhort by our Lord Jesus Christ, that they work quietly and earn their own bread.

² particularly for kings, and all that are in authority, that we may lead a quiet and peaceful life in all piety and virtue.

²⁵ with meekness instructing those of different sentiments, not knowing but God may give them repentance to the acknowledgement of the truth;

² to slander no man, to avoid contention, to be gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men.

²¹ Laying aside therefore all filthiness, and excess of malice, receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.

¹³ Is there any wise and understanding man among you? let him shew his works by a good conversation in the meekness of wisdom: ¹⁴ but if ye have bitter envy and strife in your hearts, do not boast and lie against the truth; ¹⁵ this is not the wisdom, that cometh down from above, but is earthly, sensual, and diabolical: ¹⁶ for where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work. ¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above first is pure, then peaceable, mild, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

²³ being regenerated not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God which liveth and abideth for ever.

¹⁵ and be always ready to answer every one that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and reverence:
