²⁵ but Jesus called them to Him and said, Ye know that the princes of the gentiles lord it over them, and their great men exercise authority upon them: ²⁶ it shall not be so among you; but whosoever would be great among you, let him be your minister, and whoever would be chief among you,

⁸ But be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor even Christ, and ye are all brethren. ⁹ Neither call any man upon earth Father; for one is your Father, who is in heaven: ¹⁰ neither be ye called masters; for one is your master, even Christ.

⁴² But Jesus called them to Him, and said unto them, Ye know that those who rule among the Gentiles, lord it over them, and their grandees exercise authority upon them. ⁴³ But it shall not be so among you: but whoever would be great among you shall be your minister; ⁴⁴ and whoever of you would be first shall be servant of all. ⁴⁵ For the Son of man came not to be ministred unto, but to minister and to give his life a ransom for many.

²⁴ And there was also a dispute among them, which of them should be accounted the greatest: ²⁵ but He said unto them, The kings of the Gentiles lord it over them, and those in authority are called benefactors. ²⁶ But ye shall not do so: but let the greatest among you be as the younger; and he that presides as he that serveth. ²⁷ For which is greater, he that sitteth at table, or he that serveth? is not he that sitteth at table? but I am among you as one that serveth.

²⁸ Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the holy Spirit hath appointed you bishops, to feed the church of God, which He purchased with his own blood.

⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whose means ye embraced the faith, even as the Lord gave success to each of them?

⁹ For we are fellow-laborers, the servants of God: and ye are the husbandry of God, ye are the building of God.

¹¹ Nevertheless, neither is the man without the woman, nor the woman without the man, in the Lord.

²⁴ not that we are lords over your faith, but are helpers of your joy: for by faith ye stand.

⁵ for we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for the sake of Jesus.

¹⁷ Brethren, be imitators of me, and observe those that walk as ye have us for an example.

⁹ and what ye have both learned, and received, and heard, and seen in me, these practise; and the God of peace will be with you.

⁵ For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in much certainty; as ye know what sort of persons we were among you for your sakes. ⁶ And ye became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word tho' in much affliction, yet with joy of the holy Ghost.

⁹ Not that we have not power, but that we might give ourselves as an example to you to imitate us.

¹² Let no one have cause to despise thy youth; but he thou an example to believers in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

⁷ in all things shewing thyself a pattern of good works, with uncorruptness in teaching, gravity, sound doctrine that cannot be condemned;

⁹ But ye are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, a peculiar people; that ye should declare the glories of Him, who hath called you out of darkness into his marvellous light:

⁹ I wrote to the church: but Diotrephes, who affects the pre-eminence among them, doth not receive us. ¹⁰ Therefore when I come, I will remember his deeds, prating against us with wicked words: and not content with these, he neither receiveth the brethren himself, nor suffers those that would; and casteth them out of the church.
