⁵ Likewise ye younger, be subject to the elder; and all of you behaving with due submission one to another, be clothed with humility: for God resisteth the proud, but sheweth favor to the humble.

¹⁰ be tenderly affected with brotherly love to each other, in honor preferring one another:

¹⁴ But put on the Lord Jesus, and make not provision for the flesh to gratify its irregular desires.

²¹ submitting yourselves to each other in the fear of God.

³ Do nothing through strife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind each esteeming others better than themselves.

¹² Put on therefore, as the elect of God holy and beloved, bowels of mercy, benignity, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering;

¹⁷ Be ruled by those that are your guides, and submit to them: for they watch for your souls; (as those that must give an account) that they may do it with joy and not with uneasiness: for this were unprofitable for you.

⁶ No, He giveth more grace: wherefore it is said, God resisteth the proud, but sheweth favor to the humble.

³ Whose adorning, let it not be that without, of plaiting the hair, and putting on of gold, or wearing fine clothes; ⁴ but the hidden man of the heart, in the incorruptible ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

¹ Seeing therefore Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same thought, that he, who hath mortified the flesh, hath ceased from sin;

⁵ who shall give an account to Him, who is ready to judge the living and the dead.
