⁵ But be thou watchful in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, give full proof of thy ministry.

³⁴ as a man travelling abroad, who left his house, and gave charge to his servants, to each his work, and bid the porter be watchful.

³⁷ And what I say to you, I say to all, Watch.

³⁷ Happy are those servants, whom the master when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he will gird himself, and make them sit down, and will come and serve them.

³⁰ And from among yourselves shall men arise, speaking perverse things to draw away disciples after them. ³¹ Watch therefore, remembering that for the space of three years I ceased not by night and by day to warn every one with tears.

⁸ On the morrow Paul and those that were with him departed from Ptolemais, and came to Cesarea; and entering into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven deacons, we stayed with him.

¹⁹ through the efficacy of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round as far as to Illyricum, I have fully declared the gospel of Christ:

¹¹ And therefore He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers; to qualify holy men for the work of the ministry,

²⁵ Of which I was made a minister according to the dispensation of God, which is given me towards you, that I might fully declare the word of God:

¹⁷ And say ye to Archippus, Look well to the ministry, which thou hast received of the Lord, that thou fulfil it.

⁶ Therefore let us not sleep like others, but let us watch and be sober:

¹² Let no one have cause to despise thy youth; but he thou an example to believers in word, in conversation, in charity, in spirit, in faith, in purity.

¹⁵ Meditate on these things, be wholly in them, that thy proficiency may be manifest in all.

⁸ Be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but bear thy part in the afflictions of the gospel, according to the power of God;

³ Do thou therefore endure hardship, as becomes a good soldier of Jesus Christ.

¹⁰ Therefore I submit to every thing for the sake of the elect, that they also may obtain the salvation which is by Christ Jesus, with eternal glory.

¹⁰ But thou art well acquainted with my doctrine, conduct, purpose, faith, long-suffering, charity, patience, persecutions, ¹¹ sufferings, which befel me at Antioch, in Iconium, in Lystra; what persecutions I endured, and how the Lord delivered me out of them all. ¹² And indeed all, that are desirous to live godly in Christ Jesus, shall suffer persecution.

¹⁷ Be ruled by those that are your guides, and submit to them: for they watch for your souls; (as those that must give an account) that they may do it with joy and not with uneasiness: for this were unprofitable for you.

¹³ Wherefore girding up the loins of your mind, be sober, and stedfastly hope for the grace to be conferred upon you at the appearing of Jesus Christ;

² be watchful, and strengthen the things which remain, that are ready to die; for I have not found thy works perfect in the sight of God.
