²⁵ And as he was reasoning of justice, temperance, and a future judgement, Felix trembled, and said, Go thy way for this time, and I will take a proper opportunity to call for thee again.

⁵ but that he was afraid of the people; for they esteemed him as a prophet. ⁶ But when Herod's birth-day was kept, the daughter of Herodias danced before them, and pleased Herod, so ⁷ that he promised her with an oath to give her whatever she would ask: ⁸ and she, being before instructed by her mother, said, Give me here in a dish the head of John the baptist: ⁹ at which the king was distressed, but because of his oath, and of those who sat at table with him, he ordered it to be given her; ¹⁰ and he sent and beheaded John in the prison,

⁵ But they slighted him, and went away, one to his field and another to his merchandize:

¹ Then will the kingdom of heaven be like ten virgins, who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom: and five of them were wise, ² and five were foolish. ³ The foolish ones took their lamps, and took no oil with them: ⁴ but the wise took oil in their vessels as well as in their lamps. ⁵ Now while the bridegroom stayed, they were all drowsy and fell asleep: ⁶ and in the middle of the night there was a cry, The bridegroom is coming, go out to meet him. ⁷ Then all the virgins rose up and trimmed their lamps: ⁸ and the foolish ones said to the wise, Give us of your oil, for our lamps are going out: ⁹ but the wise answered them, saying, Least there should not be enough for us and you, go rather to them that sell it, and buy for yourselves. ¹⁰ And while they went to buy, the bridegroom came, and they that were ready went in with him to the wedding-feast, and then the door was shut.

³¹ So when the Son of man shall come in his glory, and all the holy angels with Him, then shall He sit upon his glorious throne: ³² and all nations shall be assembled before Him; and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides the sheep from the goats: ³³ and He shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left. ³⁴ Then will the king say to them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ³⁵ for I was famishing, and ye gave me food; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; ³⁶ I was naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye took care of me; I was in prison, and ye visited me. ³⁷ Then will the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? ³⁸ and when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? ³⁹ or naked, and clothed thee? and when did we see thee sick, or in prison, and visited thee? ⁴⁰ And the king replying will say unto them, Verily I declare unto you, inasmuch as ye did it to one of the lest of these my brethren, ye did it to me. ⁴¹ Then will He say also to those on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: ⁴² for I was famishing, and ye gave me nothing to eat; I was a-thirst, and ye gave me no drink; ⁴³ I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye took no care of me. ⁴⁴ Then will they also answer Him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee famishing, or a-thirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not relieve thee? ⁴⁵ Then will He reply to them, saying, Verily I tell you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the lest of these, ye did it not to me. ⁴⁶ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life everlasting.

¹⁸ For John had said to Herod, it is not lawful for thee to have thy brother's wife. ¹⁹ Wherefore Herodias persecuted him, and would have taken away his life: ²⁰ but could not; for Herod revered John, knowing him to be a just and holy man, and protected him: and when he heard him he did many things according to John's instructions, and heard him willingly. ²¹ But a convenient day happening, when Herod on his birth-night gave a supper to his lords, and chief officers, and persons of distinction in Galilee; and the daughter of Herodias coming in, ²² and dancing, and having pleased Herod and his guests, the king said to the young princess, Ask of me whatever thou wilt, and I will give it thee. ²³ And he gave her his oath too, whatever thou shalt ask of me, I will give it thee, even to the half of my kingdom. ²⁴ And she withdrew and consulted her mother, what to ask: and she said, The head of John the baptist.

²⁴ But He said unto them, Strive to enter in at the strait gate; for I tell you, many will desire to enter in, and shall not be able. ²⁵ When the master of the house shall have risen up and shut the door, and ye begin to stand without and knock at the door saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and He shall answer and say to you, I know you not, whence ye are:

²⁶ And as it was in the days of Noah, so shall it be also in the days of the Son of man. ²⁷ They were eating, drinking, marrying, and being married, till the day that Noah went into the ark: and the flood came and destroyed them all. ²⁸ And as it was likewise in the days of Lot; they were eating, drinking, buying, selling, planting, and building: ²⁹ but the very day that Lot went out from Sodom, it rained fire and brimstone from heaven and destroyed them all.

⁸ And when He comes, He will convince the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement:

³⁷ Now when they heard this, they were pricked to the heart, and said unto Peter, and to the rest of the apostles, Brethren, what shall we do?

⁶ And he trembling and astonished said, Lord, what wilt Thou have me to do? And the Lord said unto him, Arise and go into the city, and it shall be told thee, what thou must do.

⁴² And He commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is He who is appointed by God to be judge of the living and of the dead.

²⁹ Then he called for lights, and sprang in, and being in a tremor fell down before Paul and Silas: ³⁰ and bringing them out, he said, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? ³¹ And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thine house. ³² And they spake unto him the word of the Lord, and to all in his family. ³³ And he took them at that very time of the night, and bathed their stripes: and was baptized, he and all his immediately after. ³⁴ And he brought them into his house, and spread a table for them, and rejoiced, believing in God with all his household.

² And according to his custom Paul went in among them, and for three sabbath-days discoursed to them from the scriptures;

¹³ But when the Jews of Thessalonica knew that the word of God was preached by Paul at Berea, they came thither also, to stir up the people.

³² And when they heard of the resurrection of the dead, some laughed at it: and others said, We will hear thee again concerning this matter.

¹⁵ having hope in God, (which they themselves also expect) that there shall be a resurrection of the dead, both of the just and unjust.

²⁶ And hoping also that money would be given him by Paul, that he might discharge him; he sent for him the more frequently, and conversed with him.

²⁸ I know that thou believest them. Then Agrippa said unto Paul, Thou almost persuadest me to be a Christian.

¹⁶ in the day when God will judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ, according to my gospel.

¹⁹ it saith to those under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world obnoxious to the justice of God. ²⁰ Wherefore by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified before Him: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

¹ I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, and well-pleasing to God, as your rational service.

¹² So that every one of us shall give an account of himself to God.

⁵ Wherefore judge nothing before the time; even until the Lord come, who will bring to light the hidden things of darkness, and manifest the counsels of the hearts: and then shall every one have praise from God.

²⁴ But if all prophesy, and there come in an unbeliever, or one unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is judged by all. ²⁵ And thus the secrets of his heart are made manifest; so that falling down upon his face he will worship God, declaring that God is indeed among you.

¹⁰ For we must all appear before the tribunal of Christ, that every one may receive for the things done in the body, according to what he hath done, whether it were good or bad.

² for He saith, "I have heard thee in an acceptable time, and in a day of salvation have I helped thee." Behold now is the acceptable time; behold now is the day of salvation.

²² But the scripture hath shut up all under sin, that the promise by faith in Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.

²³ gentleness, goodness, fidelity, meekness, temperance: against such things there is no law.

⁷ and to you, who are in trouble, rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven, ⁸ with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, taking vengeance on those who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: ⁹ who shall be punished with everlasting destruction, by the presence of the Lord and by his glorious power: ¹⁰ in that day, when He shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe; because our testimony among you was believed.

¹ I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing, in his kingdom;

¹¹ For the grace of God, that bringeth salvation, hath appeared to all men; ¹² teaching us that denying ungodliness, and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and righteously, and piously in this present world;

⁷ Therefore, as the holy Ghost saith, "To-day if ye will hear his voice, ⁸ harden not your hearts, as in the provocation, in the day of temptation in the wilderness, when your fathers tempted me,

¹³ but exhort one another daily, while it is called to-day; that none of you may be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin:

¹ Let us therefore fear least a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of us should seem to fall short of it:

¹¹ Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, least any one fall after the same example of unbelief. ¹² For the word of God is lively and efficacious, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the dividing of soul and spirit, and of the very joints and marrow, and judging the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

² and of faith in God, of the doctrine of baptisms, and laying on of hands, and of the resurrection from the dead, and of eternal judgement: (tho' we will do this also, if God permit:)

²⁷ And as it is appointed to men once to die, and after this the judgement;

²¹ and so terrible was the appearance that Moses said, I exceedingly fear and tremble:)

¹⁹ Thou believest that there is one God; thou dost well: the devils also believe and tremble.

¹³ Come now, ye that say, To-day or to-morrow we will go to such a city, and spend a year there, and trade and get gain; ¹⁴ (though ye know not what will be on the morrow; for what is your life? a vapor, which appeareth for a little while, and then vanisheth away:) whereas ye ought to say,

¹⁵ and be always ready to answer every one that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and reverence:

⁴ in which they think it strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, and therefore speak evil of you: ⁵ who shall give an account to Him, who is ready to judge the living and the dead.

⁶ and to fortitude knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience piety;

⁷ Little children, let no one deceive you: he that practiseth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous:

¹⁰ In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doth not practise righteousness, and he who loveth not his brother, is not of God:

¹¹ And I saw a great white throne, and Him that sat on it, from whose face the earth and the heaven fled, and no place was found for them. ¹² And I saw the dead, small and great, stand before God; and the books were opened: and another book was opened, which is the book of life: and the dead were judged by the things written in the books, according to their works. ¹³ And the sea gave up the dead that were in it; and death and Hades gave up the dead that were in them: and they were judged every one according to their works. ¹⁴ And death and Hades were cast into the lake of fire: this is the second death. ¹⁵ And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the lake of fire.
