¹ and ye masters, render to your servants justice and equity, knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven. ² Persevere in prayer, and be watchful in it, with thanksgiving. ³ Praying at the same time for us also, that God would open to us a door of utterance, to declare the mystery of Christ, for which also I am in bonds: that I may make it manifest, as I ought. ⁴ Behave yourselves wisely towards them that are without, ⁵ redeeming the time. ⁶ Let your speech be always with grace, seasoned with discretion to know how ye ought to answer every one. ⁷ All things concerning me will Tychicus make known to you, who is a beloved brother, and faithful minister, and fellow-servant in the Lord: ⁸ whom I have sent to you for this purpose also that he may know your affairs, and comfort your hearts; ⁹ together with Onesimus a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will inform you of all things here. ¹⁰ Aristarchus my fellow-prisoner saluteth you, and Marcus nephew to Barnabas, concerning whom ye have received orders; (if he come to you, receive him;) and Jesus who is called Justus: ¹¹ these are the only persons, who, of the circumcision, have been my fellow-laborers in the kingdom of God, and who were a comfort to me. ¹² Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you; who always strives earnestly for you in his prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God: ¹³ for I bear him witness, that he is very zealous for you, and for those in Laodicea, and Hierapolis. ¹⁴ Luke the beloved physician, and Demas, greeteth you. ¹⁵ Salute the brethren in Laodicea; and Nymphas, and the church that is in his house. ¹⁶ And when this letter has been read amongst you, cause it to be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; that ye may also read that from Laodicea. ¹⁷ And say ye to Archippus, Look well to the ministry, which thou hast received of the Lord, that thou fulfil it. ¹⁸ The salutation of me Paul, with my own hand. Remember my bonds. Grace be with you. Amen.

⁸ But be not ye called Rabbi; for one is your instructor even Christ, and ye are all brethren. ⁹ Neither call any man upon earth Father; for one is your Father, who is in heaven:

⁴⁸ But if that servant be wicked and say in his heart, my master delayeth his coming, ⁴⁹ and begin to beat his fellow-servants, and to revel with drunkards: ⁵⁰ the lord of that servant will come in a day when he doth not expect him, and in an hour which he knows not, ⁵¹ and will cut him asunder, and appoint him his portion with hypocrites: where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.

¹ And He said also to his disciples, There was a certain rich man, who had a steward; and he was accused to him of wasting his goods. ² And he called him, and said unto him, What is this I hear of thee? give up the accounts of thy stewardship, for thou canst be no longer steward. ³ And the steward said in himself, What shall I do? now my master takes away the stewardship from me; I am not able to work, and I am ashamed to beg. ⁴ I know what I will do, that when I am turned out of my place, they may receive me into their houses. ⁵ So he called his master's debtors to him, and said to the first, How much owest thou to my master? and he said, an hundred baths of oil. ⁶ And he said to him, Take thy bill, and sit down and write but fifty. ⁷ Then he said to another, And how much owest thou? and he said, an hundred measures of wheat: and he said to him, Take thy bill, and write fourscore. ⁸ And his master commended the dishonest steward as having acted prudently: for the men of this world are as to their affairs wiser than the children of light. ⁹ And I say unto you, Make to yourselves friends with these unrighteous treasures, that when they fail, ye may be received into everlasting habitations. ¹⁰ He, that is faithful in the lest, is faithful also in much: and he, that is unjust in the lest, is unjust also in much. ¹¹ If therefore ye have not been faithful in the false riches, who will intrust you with the true? ¹² and if ye have not been faithful in that which was another's, who will give you that which is your own? ¹³ No servant can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or at lest he will be attached to the one, and neglect the other. Ye cannot serve God and Mammon.

¹⁵ And when he was returned, having received the kingdom, he ordered these servants to be called to him, to whom he had delivered the money, that he might know what use each had made of it.

⁸ knowing that whatever good any one doth, he shall receive the reward of it from the Lord, whether He be a slave or free. ⁹ And ye masters, do the same to them, forbearing threatening: knowing that ye yourselves also have a Master in heaven, and there is no respect of persons with Him. ¹⁰ Moreover, my brethren, strengthen yourselves in the Lord, and in his mighty power. ¹¹ Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the Devil. ¹² For our conflict is not with flesh and blood only, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the world and of the darkness of this age, against wicked spirits in heavenly places. ¹³ Take therefore the complete armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand. ¹⁴ Stand therefore having your loins girt about with truth, and putting on the breast-plate of righteousness: ¹⁵ and having your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace: ¹⁶ over all taking the shield of faith, whereby ye will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one: ¹⁷ take also the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God: ¹⁸ praying at all seasons with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance, and intercession for all the saints; ¹⁹ and for me particularly, that utterance may be given me, that I may open my mouth with freedom, to make known the mystery of the gospel: ²⁰ for which I am an ambassador though in chains: that I may speak boldly in behalf of it, as I ought to speak.

¹³ For he shall have judgement without mercy, that hath not shewn mercy: but mercy triumpheth over judgement.

⁴ Behold the hire of the laborers, that reaped your fields, of which they are defrauded by you, crieth out against you: and the complaints of the reapers are come into the ears of the Lord of hosts.

¹⁴ These will make war with the Lamb, and the Lamb shall overcome them: for He is Lord of lords, and King of kings: and those that are with Him are called, and chosen, and faithful.

¹⁶ And He hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, "King of kings, and Lord of lords."

⁴¹ Watch and pray that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.

³³ Take heed therefore, watch and pray; for ye know not when the time is:

¹ And He spake also a parable to them, to shew that men ought always to pray, and not to faint:

³⁶ Watch therefore and be constant in prayer, that ye may be counted worthy to escape all these things, which shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.

¹² Rejoicing in hope, patient under affliction, persevering in prayer,

¹⁸ praying at all seasons with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance, and intercession for all the saints;

⁶ Be anxious in nothing: but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known before God.

⁹ For this cause we also, from the day that we heard it, cease not to pray for you, and to request that ye may be filled with the knowledge of his will, in all wisdom and spiritual understanding:

⁷ rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught it, abounding therein with thanksgiving.

¹⁵ And let the peace of God preside in your hearts, to which ye are also called as united in one body: and be thankful for it.

¹⁷ And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to our God and Father by Him.

¹² Epaphras, who is one of you, a servant of Christ, saluteth you; who always strives earnestly for you in his prayers, that ye may stand perfect and complete in all the will of God:

¹⁷ Pray continually. ¹⁸ In every circumstance be thankful; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.

⁷ But the end of all things draws nigh: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer:

¹¹ And He answered them, saying, Because it is granted unto you to know the mysteries of the kingdom of heaven, but to them it is not granted:

²⁷ And when they were come, and had gathered the church together, they related what God had done by them, and how he had opened the door of faith to the Gentiles.

³⁰ Now I beseech you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that ye earnestly strive together with me in prayers to God for me; ³¹ that I may be delivered from the unbelievers in Judea; and that this my service at Jerusalem may be acceptable to the saints: ³² that I may come to you with joy, by the will of God, and may be refreshed with you.

¹ Let a man so account of us, as the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

⁹ though there are many opposers.

¹² So that when I came to Troas on account of the gospel of Christ, and a door was opened to me in the Lord,

¹ For this cause I Paul am the prisoner of Jesus Christ for the sake of you Gentiles:

¹ I therefore, a prisoner for the sake of the Lord, exhort you to walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, with all humility and meekness;

⁷ As it is just for me to think this of you all, because ye have me in your heart, both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, being all of you partakers of the same grace with me.

¹³ so that my bonds are manifest in all the palace, and all other places, to be for the sake of Christ; ¹⁴ and many of the brethren in the Lord, encouraged by my bonds, are much more bold to publish the word without fear.

¹⁹ for I know that this shall turn to my safety through your prayer, and the aid of the Spirit of Jesus Christ.

²⁶ even that mystery which was hid from former ages and generations, but is now manifested to his saints:

² that their hearts may be comforted, being knit together in love, and to all the riches of a full assurance of understanding in these things, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of our God and Father, and of Christ: ³ in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

²⁵ Brethren, pray for us.

¹ As for the rest, my brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may run, and be glorified, as it is among you: ² and that we may be delivered from unreasonable and wicked men; for all have not faith.

¹⁶ The Lord shew mercy to the family of Onesiphorus; for he often refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain: but when he was at Rome,

⁹ for whose sake I suffer trouble even unto bonds, as if I were a malefactor; but the word of God is not bound.

²² But I must add, prepare me also a lodging; for I hope that through your prayers I shall be restored to you.

¹⁸ Pray for us; for we are confident that we have a good conscience, desiring in all things to behave well. ¹⁹ And I the more earnestly intreat you to do this, that I may be restored to you the sooner.

⁷ And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, These things saith the holy One, He that is true, He that hath the key of David, He that openeth and no one shutteth, and shutteth and no one openeth: ⁸ I know thy works, and behold I have given thee an open door, and no one shall be able to shut it; for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name.

²⁶ Be not therefore afraid of them; for there is nothing hid, that shall not be revealed; nor secret, that shall not be made known. ²⁷ What I say to you in private, declare ye in public: and what ye hear as in the ear, preach ye as from the house-tops.

²⁹ And now, Lord, behold their threatenings; and give unto thy servants to speak thy word with all freedom, while Thou art stretching forth thy hand to heal,

²⁹ But Peter, and the other apostles, answered, and said, We ought to obey God rather than men.

⁴ And my discourse, and my preaching was not with the persuasive words of human wisdom, but in the demonstration of the Spirit and of power; ⁵ that your faith might not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.

¹⁴ But thanks be to God, who always causeth us to triumph in Christ, and spreadeth the odor of his knowledge by us in every place. ¹⁵ For we are the sweet odor of Christ unto God, in them that are saved, yea and in them that perish: ¹⁶ to these indeed we are an odor of death to death; to those an odor of life unto life. And who is sufficient for these things? ¹⁷ For we are not like many who adulterate the word of God: but as with sincerity, but as from God, and in the sight of God, we speak concerning Christ.

¹² Having therefore such hope, we use much freedom of speech:

¹ Therefore having received this ministry, as we have obtained mercy, we are not disheartened: ² but have rejected shameful disguises, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by the manifestation of the truth, recommending ourselves to every man's conscience, in the sight of God. ³ And if our gospel also be veiled, it is to those that perish; ⁴ among whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, so that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, doth not shine unto them:

²⁰ for which I am an ambassador though in chains: that I may speak boldly in behalf of it, as I ought to speak.

¹⁶ Behold I send you forth as sheep into the midst of wolves: be ye therefore prudent as serpents, and innocent as doves.

¹¹ And he said unto them, To you it is granted to know the mystery of the kingdom of God; but unto them that are without all things are delivered in parables:

¹⁹ For your obedience is come to the knowledge of all: and therefore I rejoice on your account; but yet I would have you wise to that which is good, and simple as to that which is evil.

¹² For what have I to do to judge those that are without? and do not ye judge those that are within? ¹³ But those who are without, God judgeth: and therefore put away the wicked one from among you.

¹⁹ But in a public assembly I had rather speak five words to be understood, that I may instruct others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue. ²⁰ My brethren, be not children in sense: but in malice be infants, and in your judgements shew yourselves to be men. ²¹ It is written in the law, "By men of another language, and by other lips, will I speak to this people, and even so they will not listen to me, saith the Lord." ²² So that tongues are for a sign, not to believers but to unbelievers: but prophecy not to unbelievers but to those that believe. ²³ If then the whole church be come together and all speak in unknown tongues, and there come in illiterate persons, or infidels, will they not say that ye are mad? ²⁴ But if all prophesy, and there come in an unbeliever, or one unlearned, he is convinced by all, he is judged by all. ²⁵ And thus the secrets of his heart are made manifest; so that falling down upon his face he will worship God, declaring that God is indeed among you.

¹⁵ See then that ye walk circumspectly, not as fools, but as wise men: ¹⁶ redeeming the time, because the days are evil. ¹⁷ Wherefore be not thoughtless, but consider what is the will of the Lord.

¹⁶ Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another by psalms, and hymns, and spiritual songs, with gratitude singing in your hearts to the Lord.

¹² as we gave you in charge, that ye may walk decently toward those that are without, and may have need of no one's assistance.

⁷ He ought also to have an honorable testimony from those that are without, least he fall into reproach and the snare of the devil.

⁵ And if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask it of God, who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him.

¹³ Is there any wise and understanding man among you? let him shew his works by a good conversation in the meekness of wisdom:

¹⁷ But the wisdom that is from above first is pure, then peaceable, mild, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality and without hypocrisy.

¹ Ye women likewise, be subject to your own husbands, that if any believe not the word, they may yet without the word be gained over by the deportment of the wives,

¹³ Ye are the salt of the earth, but if the salt be grown insipid, wherewith shall it be seasoned? it is no longer fit for any thing, but to be thrown out of doors, and trodden under foot.

³⁴ O race of vipers, how can ye speak good things, who are yourselves so wicked? for out of the abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh. ³⁵ A good man out of the good treasure of the heart produceth good things; and a wicked man out of the wicked treasure uttereth wicked things:

⁵⁰ Salt is useful, but if the salt become insipid, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt therefore in yourselves, and as a proof of it be at peace one with another.

²² And they all bare witness to Him, and wondered at the gracefulness of the words, which proceeded from his mouth, and said, Is not this the son of Joseph?

²⁰ And they watched Him and sent out spies, pretending to be righteous men, to lay hold of his words, that they might deliver Him up to the power and authority of the governor. ²¹ And they asked Him, saying, Master, we know that thou speakest and teachest rightly, and acceptest not the person of any, but teachest the way of God in truth: ²² is it lawful for us to give tribute to Cesar, or not? ²³ But He perceived their craftiness, and said unto them, Why do ye tempt me? ²⁴ Shew me a penny: whose image and inscription hath it? and they answered, Cesar's. ²⁵ Then said He unto them, Render therefore unto Cesar the things that are Cesar's, and to God the things that are God's. ²⁶ And they could not take hold of his word before the people: and they marvelled at his answer and said no more. ²⁷ And some of the Sadducees (who deny a resurrection) came to Him and asked Him, ²⁸ saying, Moses enjoined us, if any man's brother die, having a wife, and he die childless, that his brother should take his wife, and raise up seed to his brother. ²⁹ Now there were seven brethren: and the first took a wife, and died childless; and the second took the wife, and he died childless; ³⁰ and the third took her; ³¹ and in like manner all the seven. ³² And they died and left no children. Last of all the woman also died. ³³ Therefore at the resurrection whose wife is she? for all the seven had her to wife. ³⁴ And Jesus answering said unto them, The children of this world marry and are given in marriage. ³⁵ But they who are counted worthy to obtain that world, and the resurrection from the dead, neither marry, nor are given in marriage: ³⁶ for they can die no more, being like the angels: and they are the children of God as being the children of the resurrection. ³⁷ Now that the dead are raised, even Moses shewed at the bush; for he calleth the Lord, the God of Abraham, and the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. ³⁸ And He is not the God of the dead, but of the living; for to Him they are all living. ³⁹ And some of the scribes replied, Master, thou hast indeed said right. ⁴⁰ And they dared not any more to ask Him any such question.

²⁹ Let no corrupt word come out of your mouth; but what is good to useful edification, that it may benefit the hearers.

¹⁵ and be always ready to answer every one that asketh you a reason of the hope that is in you, with meekness and reverence:

⁴ And there accompanied him to Asia, Sopater the Berean, and of the Thessalonians Aristarchus and Secundus, and Gaius of Derbe, and Timothy: and the Asiatics,

¹ Let a man so account of us, as the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. ² Now it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful. ³ But to me it is of very small moment to be judged by you, or by any man's judgement; nor indeed do I judge myself: ⁴ (for I am conscious to myself of nothing; though I am not hereby justified;) but He that judgeth me is the Lord.

²¹ But that ye also may know my affairs, and what I am doing here, Tychicus a beloved brother, and a faithful minister in the Lord, shall make all known to you: whom I have sent to you, ²² for this very end, that ye might know our concerns, and that he may comfort your hearts. ²³ Peace be to the brethren, and love with faith, from God the Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁵ However, I thought it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus my brother, and fellow-laborer, and fellow-soldier, but your messenger, who ministred to my wants:

⁹ together with Onesimus a faithful and beloved brother, who is one of you. They will inform you of all things here.

¹² And I have sent Tychicus to Ephesus.

¹² When I shall send Artemas to thee, or Tychicus, endeavour to come to me to Nicopolis: for there I have determined to winter.

¹⁷ For this end have I sent unto you Timothy, who is my beloved son and faithful in the Lord, who will bring to your remembrance my ways in Christ, how I teach every where in every church.

⁴ that we may be able to comfort those, that are in any trouble, by the consolation wherewith we ourselves are comforted by God.

⁷ So that on the contrary, ye ought rather to forgive and comfort him, least such a one should be swallowed up with excessive sorrow.

¹⁸ I desired Titus to come to you, and with him I sent a brother: did Titus make a gain of you? did we not walk in the same spirit? did we not tread in the same steps?

²² for this very end, that ye might know our concerns, and that he may comfort your hearts.

²⁸ I have sent him therefore the more desirously, that when ye see him again ye may rejoice, and I may be the less sorrowful.

¹¹ as ye know likewise, how we exhorted and comforted every one of you, as a father his children;

⁵ For this cause being able to wait no longer, I sent to know the state of your faith, least the tempter should have tempted you, and our labor have been in vain.

¹⁸ Therefore comfort one another with these words.

¹¹ Wherefore comfort one another, and edify each other, as indeed ye do.

¹⁴ And admonish the disorderly, comfort the feeble-minded, support the weak, be of a patient spirit towards all.

¹⁷ and establish you in every good word and work.

⁷ All things concerning me will Tychicus make known to you, who is a beloved brother, and faithful minister, and fellow-servant in the Lord:

¹⁰ I intreat thee then for my son Onesimus, whom I have begotten in my bonds, ¹¹ who was formerly unprofitable to thee, but now profitable both to thee and to me; whom I have sent back to thee: ¹² him therefore, as my own bowels, do thou receive. ¹³ Whom I would gladly have kept with me, that he might have ministered unto me as thou wouldst have done, in the bonds of the gospel. ¹⁴ But I would do nothing without thy knowledge, that thy kindness might not be as it were forced, but voluntary. ¹⁵ For perhaps he was therefore parted from thee for a season, that thou mightest receive him for ever: ¹⁶ not now as a servant, but above a servant, a dear brother, especially to me, and how much more to thee both in the flesh and in the Lord. ¹⁷ If therefore thou accountest me a friend, receive him as thou wouldst receive me. ¹⁸ If he hath wronged thee in any thing, or is indebted to thee, place it to my accompt: ¹⁹ I Paul have written it with my own hand, I will pay it: not to say that thou indeed owest even thy own self to me.

³⁶ So Joses who was by the apostles sirnamed Barnabas, which is a son of consolation,

¹² And considering with himself, he came to the house of Mary the mother of John, who was sirnamed Mark, where many were gathered together and praying.

⁵ And when they arrived at Salamis, they preached the word of God in the synagogues of the Jews: and they had also John for their assistant.

¹³ Now Paul and those that were with him loosing from Paphos, came to Perga in Pamphylia: but John departed from them and returned to Jerusalem.

³⁷ And Barnabas proposed to take with them John, who was surnamed Mark. ³⁸ But Paul did not think proper to take him with them, who left them in Pamphylia, and went not with them to the work. ³⁹ And there was a sharp dispute, so that they separated from each other; and Barnabas took Mark and sailed to Cyprus: but Paul chose Silas and departed,

²⁹ And the whole city was filled with confusion: and they rushed with one accord into the theatre, dragging with them Gaius and Aristarchus two Macedonians, fellow-travellers with Paul.

² And going on board a ship of Adramyttium, we went off, intending to sail by the coasts of Asia; Aristarchus a Macedonian of Thessalonica being with us.

² that ye receive her in the Lord as becometh saints, and assist her in whatever affair she may have need of you; for she also hath been a helper of many others, as well as of myself.

⁷ Salute Andronicus and Junias my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are men of note among the apostles, and who were in Christ before me.

²¹ Timothy my fellow-laborer, and Lucius, and Jason, and Sosipater, my kinsmen, salute you. ²² I Tertius, who wrote this epistle, salute you in the Lord. ²³ Gaius my host, and that of the whole church saluteth you. Erastus, the chamberlain of the city, and our brother Quartus saluteth you.

¹¹ Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is useful to me in the ministry.

²⁴ Aristarchus, Demas, and Luke my fellow-laborers, salute thee.

¹³ The church in Babylon, chosen together with you saluteth you, and so doth Marcus my son.

⁸ Look to yourselves, that ye lose not the things which ye have wrought, but that ye may receive a full reward. ⁹ Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God: but he, that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, hath both the Father and the Son.

⁴⁵ And those of the circumcision that were believers, who came with Peter, were astonished, that the gift of the holy Spirit was conferred upon the Gentiles also:

² And when Peter was come up to Jerusalem, those that were of the circumcision contended with him, saying,

¹² and the father of circumcision to those, who not only are of the circumcision, but also walk in the steps of that faith of our father Abraham, which he had in uncircumcision.

⁵ Who then is Paul, and who is Apollos, but ministers by whose means ye embraced the faith, even as the Lord gave success to each of them? ⁶ I have planted, Apollos watered: but God gave the increase. ⁷ So that neither he that planteth is any thing, nor he that watereth, but God that giveth the increase. ⁸ And he that planteth, and he that watereth, are as one: but each shall receive his own reward according to his own labor. ⁹ For we are fellow-laborers, the servants of God: and ye are the husbandry of God, ye are the building of God.

¹ And we co-operating with Him do also exhort you that ye receive not the grace of God in vain:

⁶ But God, who comforteth those that are brought low, comforted us by the coming of Titus: ⁷ and not only by his coming, but especially by the consolation wherewith he was comforted on your account, acquainting us with your earnest desire towards us, your grief, and your zeal for me; so that I rejoiced greatly.

⁷ But on the contrary, seeing that I was intrusted with the gospel of uncircumcision, as Peter was with that of the circumcision; ⁸ (for He who wrought effectually in Peter as to the apostleship of the circumcision, wrought effectually also in me as to the gentiles:)

¹¹ Wherefore remember that ye were formerly Gentiles in the flesh, called uncircumcision by that which is called circumcision made by hands in the flesh;

³ And I entreat thee likewise, my faithful collegue, to assist them, for they laboured with me in the gospel, and Clement also, and my other fellow-laborers, whose names are in the book of life.

⁷ by this we were comforted in you, my brethren, under all our affliction and distress, because of your faith:

¹⁰ For there are many disorderly persons, vain-talkers and deceivers, especially those of the circumcision; whose mouths must be stopped:

¹ Paul a prisoner of Christ Jesus, and Timothy a brother, to Philemon our beloved brother and fellow-laborer, and to the beloved Apphia,

⁴⁸ Be ye therefore perfect in love and goodness, as your Father who is in heaven is perfect.

⁴⁴ And being in agony he prayed more earnestly: and his sweat was like clotted blood falling down upon the ground.

²⁶ If any man would serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: and if any one serve me, him will my Father honour.

¹⁴ And I myself am indeed persuaded concerning you, my brethren, that ye are full of goodness, being filled with all knowledge, and able to admonish one another.

³⁰ Now I beseech you, brethren, by our Lord Jesus Christ, and by the love of the Spirit, that ye earnestly strive together with me in prayers to God for me;

⁶ Yet we speak true wisdom among the perfect: though not the wisdom of this world, nor of the rulers of this world, who come to nought.

²⁰ My brethren, be not children in sense: but in malice be infants, and in your judgements shew yourselves to be men.

¹¹ Finally, my brethren, farewel: be reformed, be exhorted, be of one mind, live in peace: and the God of love and peace will be with you.

¹⁰ For do I now persuade you to obey men or God? Or do I seek to please men? if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ.

¹⁹ My little children, of whom I do as it were travail in birth again,

¹² not that I have yet won the prize, or am already perfect: but I press forward to acquire that perfection, for which also I have been apprehended by Christ Jesus. ¹³ Brethren, I count not myself to have attained it: but one thing I do, forgetting the things which are behind, and stretching forward to those before, ¹⁴ I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus. ¹⁵ Let us therefore, as many as are perfect, attend to this: and if in any thing ye think differently, God will reveal this also unto you.

⁷ As ye also learned of Epaphras our beloved fellow-servant, who is a faithful minister of Christ for you;

²² yet now hath He reconciled in the body of his flesh, through death, to present you holy, and unblameable, and unreproveable in his sight:

²⁸ whom we preach, warning every man, and teaching every man in all wisdom, that we may present every man perfect in Christ Jesus:

¹ For I would have you know what a great conflict I have for you, and for those in Laodicea, and as many as have not seen me in person: ² that their hearts may be comforted, being knit together in love, and to all the riches of a full assurance of understanding in these things, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of our God and Father, and of Christ: ³ in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge. ⁴ And this I say, least any one should deceive you with fine speeches. ⁵ For though I be absent in body, yet am I with you in spirit, rejoicing and beholding your regularity, and the stedfastness of your faith in Christ. ⁶ Therefore as ye have received Christ Jesus the Lord, walk in Him; ⁷ rooted and built up in Him, and established in the faith, as ye have been taught it, abounding therein with thanksgiving. ⁸ Take heed least any one make a prey of you by philosophy and vain deceit, according to the tradition of men, after the elements of the world, and not after Christ: ⁹ for all the fulness of the deity dwelleth personally in Him. ¹⁰ And ye are complete in Him, who is the head of all principality and power. ¹¹ In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision not performed by hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh, by the circumcision which is of Christ: ¹² being buried with Him in baptism, wherein also ye are raised together with Him, through faith in the power of God, who raised Him from the dead. ¹³ And when ye were dead in trespasses, and in the uncircumcision of your flesh, He made you alive together with Him, having forgiven you all trespasses, ¹⁴ and cancelled the obligation we were under by ritual decrees, which was grievous to us, and hath taken it quite away, even nailing it to his cross. ¹⁵ And having spoiled principalities and powers, He made them an open spectacle, triumphing over them by it. ¹⁶ Let no one therefore judge you on account of meat, or drink, or in respect of a feast, or a new-moon, or sabbaths; ¹⁷ which are a shadow of good things to come, but the body is of Christ. ¹⁸ Let no one deprive you of your reward by an affected humility and worshipping of angels, intruding into what he hath not seen, vainly puffed up by his carnal mind; ¹⁹ and not adhering to the head, from which all the body, being supplied and held together as by joints and bands, increaseth with the increase of God. ²⁰ If therefore ye be dead with Christ from the elements of the world; why, as if living in the world, are ye subject to ceremonial ordinances, ²¹ (such as "touch not, taste not, ²² handle not," which all tend to corruption in the using,) according to the commandments and doctrines of men? ²³ which things indeed have a pretence to wisdom in voluntary worship, and humiliation, and bodily penance, as having no regard to the satisfying of the flesh.

¹ and ye masters, render to your servants justice and equity, knowing that ye also have a Master in heaven. ² Persevere in prayer, and be watchful in it, with thanksgiving.

²³ And may the God of peace Himself sanctify you wholly: and grant that your whole frame, spirit, soul, and body may be kept blameless to the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.

²³ Epaphras my fellow-prisoner in Christ Jesus, and Marcus,

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, offered prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears, to Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard in what He feared;

¹⁴ but firm food is for persons come to age, who by habit have their senses exercised to a discernment both of good and evil.

¹ James a servant of God and of the Lord Jesus Christ, to the twelve tribes in dispersion sendeth greeting.

¹⁶ Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed: the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

¹ Simon Peter, a servant and an apostle of Jesus Christ, to them that have obtained like precious faith with us, in the righteousness of our God, and of our saviour Jesus Christ:

²⁴ Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with exceeding joy:

² For I bear them witness that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.

³ For to their power, I bear them witness, yea and beyond their power, they contributed of their own accord:

¹ For I would have you know what a great conflict I have for you, and for those in Laodicea, and as many as have not seen me in person:

¹⁵ Salute the brethren in Laodicea; and Nymphas, and the church that is in his house. ¹⁶ And when this letter has been read amongst you, cause it to be read also in the church of the Laodiceans; that ye may also read that from Laodicea.

¹¹ saying, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last; and, What thou seest write in a book, and send it to the seven churches in Asia, to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.

¹⁴ And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot: ¹⁵ I wish thou wert cold or hot. ¹⁶ So then, because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will cast thee out of my mouth: ¹⁷ because thou sayst, I am rich, and wealthy, and have want of nothing; and knowest not that thou art wretched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked. ¹⁸ I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayst be rich; and white raiment that thou mayst be clothed, and that the shame of thy nakedness may not appear: and anoint thine eyes with eye-salve, that thou mayst see.

¹⁰ through love of this world, and is gone to Thessalonica; as is Crescens to Galatia, and Titus to Dalmatia: Luke only is with me. ¹¹ Take Mark, and bring him with thee: for he is useful to me in the ministry.

⁵ and the church in their house. Salute my beloved Epenetus, who is the first-fruits of Achaia unto Christ.

² and to Archippus our fellow-soldier, and to the church in thine house,

²⁷ I adjure you by the Lord, that this epistle be read to all the holy brethren.

¹⁴ by this epistle, mark such a one, and do not keep company with him, that he may be ashamed.

¹⁷ for he was numbered with us, and had obtained a part of this ministry.

²³ And when they had appointed them elders in every church, praying and fasting, they recommended them to the Lord, in whom they had believed.

²⁸ Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the holy Spirit hath appointed you bishops, to feed the church of God, which He purchased with his own blood.

¹ Let a man so account of us, as the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God. ² Now it is required in stewards, that a man be found faithful.

¹¹ And therefore He gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers; to qualify holy men for the work of the ministry,

⁶ If thou lay these things before the brethren, thou wilt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, as one brought up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, to which thou hast attained.

¹⁴ Neglect not the gift that is in thee, which was given thee by prophecy, with the laying on of the hands of the presbytery.

¹⁶ Take heed to thyself, and to thy doctrine; continue in them: for in doing this, thou wilt both save thyself and those that hear thee.

¹¹ But do thou, O man of God, flee these things, and follow after righteousness, piety, fidelity, love, patience, meekness. ¹² Maintain the glorious combat of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which thou hast been called, and hast made a good profession before many witnesses. ¹³ I charge thee before God, who giveth life to all, and before Christ Jesus who witnessed a good confession before Pontius Pilate, ¹⁴ that thou keep this commandment, unspotted and blameless, till the appearance of our Lord Jesus Christ;

²⁰ O Timothy, keep that with which thou art entrusted, avoiding profane empty babblings, and the oppositions of science falsely so called:

⁶ for which cause I remind thee to stir up the gift of God which is in thee through the imposition of my hands.

² and the things which thou hast heard from me, before many witnesses, these commit to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also.

¹ I charge thee therefore before God, and the Lord Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead at his appearing, in his kingdom; ² preach the word, be instant both in season and out of season; convince, rebuke, exhort with all long-suffering and instruction. ³ For the time will come, when they will not bear sound doctrine; but having itching ears, will heap up to themselves teachers after their own hearts: ⁴ and turn away their attention from the truth, and be turned aside to fables. ⁵ But be thou watchful in all things, endure hardship, do the work of an evangelist, give full proof of thy ministry.

²⁰ And the God of peace will soon bruise Satan under your feet. The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you. Amen.

²³ Gaius my host, and that of the whole church saluteth you. Erastus, the chamberlain of the city, and our brother Quartus saluteth you.

²¹ The salutation of me Paul I write with my own hand.

¹⁴ and the love of God, and the communication of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

³ Praying at the same time for us also, that God would open to us a door of utterance, to declare the mystery of Christ, for which also I am in bonds: that I may make it manifest, as I ought.

¹⁷ The salutation of me Paul by my own hand, which is the token in every epistle; for so I write,

²¹ which some pretending to, have erred from the faith. Grace be with thee. Amen.

⁸ Be not therefore ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me his prisoner: but bear thy part in the afflictions of the gospel, according to the power of God;

²² The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you all. Amen.

¹⁵ All that are with me salute thee. Salute them that love us in the faith. Grace be with you all. Amen.

³ Remember those that are in bonds, as if bound with them: and those that suffer evil as being yourselves also in the body.
