¹ Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me. ² In my Father's house there are many mansions; if not, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. ³ And as I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself, that where I am, ye may also be. ⁴ And ye know where I am going, and ye know the way. ⁵ Thomas saith unto Him, Lord, we know not whither thou art going, and how can we know the way? ⁶ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me. ⁷ If ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye do know Him, and may be said to have seen Him. ⁸ Philip saith unto Him, Lord, shew us the Father, and it sufficeth us. ⁹ Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long with you, and dost thou not know me? Philip, he that hath seen me, hath seen the Father: and how then dost thou say, Shew us the Father? ¹⁰ Dost thou not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? as to the words which I speak to you, I speak them not of my self; and the Father who abideth in me, doth the works. ¹¹ Believe me therefore that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: at lest, believe me for the very works. ¹² Verily, verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I perform he also shall perform, and greater than these shall he do: because I am going to the Father. ¹³ And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, I will do it: that the Father may be glorified in the Son. ¹⁴ If ye ask any thing in my name, I will do it. ¹⁵ If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father, ¹⁶ and He will give you another comforter to abide with you for ever: ¹⁷ even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, because He abideth with you, and shall be in you. ¹⁸ I will not leave you orphans: I will come to you. ¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world shall see me no more; but ye shall see me: and because I live, ye shall live also. ²⁰ Then ye shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you. ²¹ He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest my self to him. ²² Judas (not the Iscariot) saith unto Him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thy self to us, and not to the world? ²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, If any one love me, he will observe my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and will make our abode with him. ²⁴ He that doth not love me, doth not observe my words: and yet the word that ye hear, is not mine, but the Father's who hath sent me. ²⁵ These things have I spoken unto you, while I have been with you. ²⁶ But the comforter, that is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said unto you. ²⁷ Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, do I give unto you. If ye loved me, ye would rejoice that I said, I am going to the Father: for my Father is greater than I. ²⁹ And now I have told you before it come to pass, that when it cometh to pass ye may believe. ³⁰ I shall not have much more conversation with you: for the prince of this world is coming; not that he hath any thing in me, ³¹ but that the world may know that I love the Father, and that I do as the Father hath commanded me. Arise, let us go hence.

²³ that all men may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father: he, that honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father that sent Him.

⁴⁰ And this is the will of Him that sent me, that every one who looketh attentively at the Son, and so believeth on Him, may have eternal life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

²⁵ Jesus then told her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth on me, though he were dead, shall live again. ²⁶ And every one that is alive, and believeth in me, shall never die. ²⁷ Dost thou believe this? She saith unto Him, Yes, Lord, I believe that thou art the Messiah, the Son of God, who was to come into the world.

³³ Jesus therefore, when He saw her weeping, and the Jews also weeping, that came with her, groaned in spirit and was troubled.

²⁷ Now is my soul troubled, and what shall I say? Father, save me from this hour: but for this cause came I to this hour.

⁴⁴ And Jesus raised his voice, and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me only, but on Him that sent me:

¹⁹ And I tell you now, before it come, that when it comes to pass ye may believe that I am the Messiah.

²⁷ Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you; not as the world giveth, do I give unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid. ²⁸ Ye have heard, how I said unto you, "I am going away, and I shall come again to you." If ye loved me, ye would rejoice that I said, I am going to the Father: for my Father is greater than I.

³ And these things will they do unto you; because they have not known the Father, nor me.

⁶ sorrow hath filled your heart.

²² And ye therefore now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy shall no one take from you. ²³ And in that day ye shall ask me nothing: but I assure you, that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, He will give it you.

¹⁵ and put to death the prince of life; whom God hath raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses. ¹⁶ And through faith in his name, hath strengthened this man, whom ye see and know: his name, I say, and saith in Him, hath wrought this perfect cure before you all.

⁷ So that on the contrary, ye ought rather to forgive and comfort him, least such a one should be swallowed up with excessive sorrow.

⁸ being afflicted on every side, but not oppressed; perplexed, but not in despair; ⁹ persecuted, but not forsaken; ¹⁰ cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be manifested in our body.

⁹ And He said unto me, "My grace is sufficient for thee: for my power is manifested in thy weakness." With the greatest pleasure therefore will I glory in my infirmities, that the power of Christ may rest upon me. ¹⁰ And therefore I take pleasure in infirmities, in reproaches, in necessities, in persecutions, and in straits for the sake of Christ: for when I am thus weak, then am I made strong.

¹² that we should be to the praise of his glory, who first trusted in Christ. ¹³ In whom ye also trusted, when ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also when ye believed, ye were sealed with the holy Spirit of promise,

¹⁵ Wherefore I also, having heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus,

¹⁴ For this cause I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, ¹⁵ from whom the whole family in heaven and on earth is named, ¹⁶ that He would grant you, according to his glorious riches, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit, as to the inner man; ¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith: and be ye rooted and grounded in love,

³ that no one might be shaken by these afflictions: for ye yourselves know that we are appointed hereunto. ⁴ For when we were with you, we told you before that we should be afflicted, as it came to pass, and ye know.

² we beseech you, brethren, that ye be not soon moved from your steadiness of mind, or troubled, neither by Spirit, nor by word, nor by letter, as from us, that the day of Christ is at hand.

¹² Lift up therefore the hands that hang down, and strengthen the feeble knees. ¹³ And make strait paths for your feet, that what is lame may not be turned out of the way, but rather be healed.

²¹ who through Him trust in God that raised Him from the dead, and gave Him glory, that your faith and hope might be fixed in God.

²³ for whosoever denieth the Son, hath not the Father: but he that confesseth the Son acknowledgeth the Father also. ²⁴ Let that therefore, which ye have heard from the beginning, abide in you: for if that, which ye heard from the beginning, remain in you, ye also will remain in the Son and in the Father.

¹⁰ He, that believeth on the Son of God, hath the witness in himself: he, that believeth not God, hath in effect made Him a liar, because he believed not the testimony which God hath testified of his Son. ¹¹ And the testimony is this, that God hath given to us eternal life; and this life is in his Son. ¹² He that hath the Son hath life: he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.

²⁶ so he turned and said to them, If any man come to me, and does not comparatively hate his father, and mother, and wife, and children, and brethren, and sisters, yea and his own life too, he cannot be my disciple. ²⁷ And whosoever doth not bear his cross, and follow me, cannot be my disciple. ²⁸ For who of you that hath a mind to build a tower does not first sit down and calculate the expence, whether he hath wherewithal to perfect it? ²⁹ least having laid a foundation and not being able to finish, ³⁰ all that see it, should deride him, saying, this man began to build and was not able to finish. ³¹ Or what king, going to engage with another king in battle, doth not sit down first and consult, whether he be able with ten thousand men to meet him that cometh against him with twenty thousand? ³² and if not, while he is yet far off, he sendeth an embassy, and desireth conditions of peace. ³³ So, every one of you, that doth not give up all that he hath, cannot be my disciple.

²⁵ So he, that loveth his life, shall lose it; and he that hateth his life in this world, shall preserve it unto life eternal. ²⁶ If any man would serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: and if any one serve me, him will my Father honour.

³³ Little children, I am to be with you but a little while longer. Ye will wish for me, and as I said to the Jews, "Whither I go ye cannot come", so I now tell you.

³⁶ Simon Peter saith unto Him, Lord, whither art thou going? Jesus answered him, Whither I am going thou canst not follow me now, but thou shalt follow me hereafter.

⁴ But I have told you these things, that when the time cometh, ye may remember that I told you of them. Though I did not tell you of them at the beginning, because I was with you.

²⁴ Father, I desire that they also, whom thou hast given me, may be with me where I am; that they may behold my glory, which thou hast given me: for Thou lovedst me before the foundation of the world.

¹⁶ for I will shew him how great sufferings he must endure for my name.

¹ For we know that if our earthly house, which is but as a tent, were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens.

⁹ For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to the obtaining of salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,

⁴ so that we ourselves boast of you among the churches of God, for your patience and faith under all your persecutions and afflictions which ye endure. ⁵ Which are a demonstration of the just judgement of God, that ye may be counted worthy of the kingdom of God, for which ye also suffer: ⁶ seeing it is a righteous thing with God to render affliction to those that afflict you; ⁷ and to you, who are in trouble, rest with us, at the revelation of the Lord Jesus from heaven, ⁸ with his mighty angels, in flaming fire, taking vengeance on those who know not God, and who obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: ⁹ who shall be punished with everlasting destruction, by the presence of the Lord and by his glorious power: ¹⁰ in that day, when He shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe; because our testimony among you was believed.

² in hope of eternal life, which God, who cannot lie, promised before all ages;

²⁰ Whither Jesus our fore-runner is entered for us, being made an high-priest for ever, after the order of Melchisedec.

⁸ The Holy Ghost shewing by this, that the way into the Holy of holies was not yet manifested, the first tabernacle being yet standing.

²³ It was therefore necessary that the representations of things in the heavens should be purified with these; but the heavenly things themselves with more excellent sacrifices than these. ²⁴ For Christ is not entered into holy places made with hands, which were but types of the true ones; but into heaven itself, now to appear in the presence of God for us: ²⁵ nor to offer Himself often, as the high-priest entereth into the holy of holies every year with the blood of others; ²⁶ (for then He must indeed have suffered often since the foundation of the world) but now once at the conclusion of the ages He hath been made manifest for the abolishing of sin by the sacrifice of himself.

¹⁰ For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose maker and founder is God.

¹⁴ Now they that say such things shew plainly that they are seeking their own country: ¹⁵ and if they had been mindful of that from which they came, they might have had opportunity to have returned. ¹⁶ But they desire a better, that is, an heavenly one; wherefore God is not ashamed to be called their God; for He hath prepared for them a city.

¹⁴ but are seeking that which is to come.

⁵ and from Jesus Christ, who is the faithful witness, the first-born from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. To Him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,

¹² Him, that overcometh, I will make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go out no more: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, (the new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God,) and my own new name.

²¹ To him that overcometh I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I also have overcome, and am set down with my Father on his throne.

² And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, descending from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

¹⁰ And he carried me away in spirit to a great and high mountain, and he shewed me that great city, the holy Jerusalem, descending out of heaven from God, having the glory of God: ¹¹ and her light was like a most precious stone, even as a Jasper-stone resembling crystal: ¹² having also a great and high wall, with twelve gates, and at the gates twelve angels; and there were names inscribed, which are the names of the twelve tribes of the sons of Israel. ¹³ On the east three gates; on the north three gates; on the south three gates; and on the west three gates. ¹⁴ And the wall of the city had twelve foundations, and on them the names of the twelve apostles of the Lamb. ¹⁵ And he that talked with me had a golden reed to measure the city, and it's gates, and it's wall. ¹⁶ And the city was four-square, it's length being as much as the breadth: and he measured the city with the reed twelve thousand furlongs: the length and the breadth and the height of it are equal. ¹⁷ And he measured the wall of it an hundred forty four cubits according to the measure of a man, for such was that of the angel. ¹⁸ And the structure of its wall was of Jasper, and the city pure gold, like transparent glass. ¹⁹ And the foundations of the wall of the city were set off each with precious stones: the first foundation a jasper, the second sapphire, the third chalcedony, ²⁰ the fourth an emerald, the fifth sardonyx, the sixth sardius, the seventh chrysolite, the eighth beryl, the ninth topaz, the tenth chrysoprasus, the eleventh jacinth, the twelfth an amethyst. ²¹ And the twelve gates were twelve pearls; each of the gates was of one pearl: and the street of the city was pure gold like resplendent glass. ²² And I saw no temple in it: for the Lord God almighty, and the Lamb, are the temple of it. ²³ And the city hath no need of the sun, nor of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God enlighteneth it, and the Lamb is it's light. ²⁴ And the nations of those that are saved shall walk in the light of it: and the kings of the earth bring their glory and their honor into it. ²⁵ And the gates of it are not to be shut by day: for there shall be no night there. ²⁶ And they shall bring the glory and honor of the nations into it. ²⁷ And nothing shall enter into it that defileth, and practiseth abomination and falshood: but those only who are written in the Lamb's book of life.

³² and all nations shall be assembled before Him; and He shall separate them one from another, as a shepherd divides the sheep from the goats: ³³ and He shall set the sheep on his right hand, but the goats on his left. ³⁴ Then will the king say to them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world:

²⁶ If any man would serve me, let him follow me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: and if any one serve me, him will my Father honour.

¹¹ who said, Ye men of Galilee, why do ye stand gazing up to heaven? This Jesus who is taken up from you into heaven, shall so come in the manner ye have seen Him going into heaven.

⁵⁹ And they stoned Stephen calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. ⁶⁰ And bending his knees, he cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this he fell asleep.

¹⁷ And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and co-heirs with Christ: if so be we suffer with Him, that we may be also glorified with Him.

⁶ Therefore we are always confident, knowing that while we dwell in the body, we are absent from the Lord, ⁷ (for we walk by faith, not by sight,) we are confident, I say, ⁸ and well-pleased rather to be absent from the body, and to dwell with the Lord.

²³ for I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ, which is much preferable:

¹⁶ For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with acclamation, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first; ¹⁷ then we who are living and remain, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we for ever be with the Lord.

¹² that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in Him, according to the grace of our God, and of the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹² if we suffer, we shall also reign with Him: if we disown Him, He will also disown us.

²⁸ so Christ, having been once offered to bear the sins of many, shall appear the second time without sin, to those who are waiting for Him, unto salvation.

² Beloved, we are now the children of God, but it doth not yet appear what we shall be: we know however, that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is. ³ And every one, that hath this hope in Him, purifieth himself, even as He is pure.

²² And I saw no temple in it: for the Lord God almighty, and the Lamb, are the temple of it. ²³ And the city hath no need of the sun, nor of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God enlighteneth it, and the Lamb is it's light.

³ And every curse shall cease: and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall serve Him. ⁴ And they shall see his face; and his name shall be on their foreheads. ⁵ And there shall be no night there: and they have no need of a candle, nor of the light of the sun; for the Lord God giveth them light; and they shall reign for ever and ever.

²⁶ Was not the Messiah to suffer these things, and so to enter into his glory?

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that He gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth on Him might not perish, but have everlasting life: ¹⁷ for God sent not his son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world might be saved by Him.

³⁶ wherefore he that believeth on the Son, hath eternal life; and he that obeyeth not the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.

⁶⁸ Then Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go? ⁶⁹ Thou hast the words of eternal life. And we believe and know that thou art the Messiah, the Son of the living God.

⁹ I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved; and shall go in and out, and find pasture.

³ who knew that the Father had given all things into his hands, and that He came from God, and was going to God,

²⁸ and am come into the world: but now I am leaving the world again, and am going to the Father.

¹⁷ And Jesus knowing it saith unto them, What are ye reasoning about? because ye have no bread? Do ye not yet discern nor understand? have ye your heart still hardened? ¹⁸ Have ye eyes, and do not see? and having ears, hear ye not? and do ye not remember?

¹⁹ And He answered and said, O unbelieving generation, how long shall I be with you? how long shall I bear with you? bring him to me.

²⁵ And He said unto them, O people void of understanding and slow of heart to believe all that the prophets have spoken.

¹⁶ Thomas therefore, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow-disciples, Let us also go, that we may die with him.

¹² This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you.

²⁵ The other disciples therefore told him, We have seen the Lord. But he said unto them, Except I see in his hands the mark of the nails, and put my finger into the place of the nails, and my hand into his side, I will not believe. ²⁶ And after eight days his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them: and Jesus came (the doors being shut as before) and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be to you. ²⁷ Then saith He to Thomas, Reach hither thy finger, and behold my hands, and reach hither thy hand, and put it into my side; and be not incredulous, but believing. ²⁸ And Thomas answered, and said, "My Lord and my God."

¹¹ Concerning whom we have much to say and difficult to be explained, since ye are become dull of hearing. ¹² For whereas ye ought for the time to be teachers of others, ye have need again of some one to teach you the first rudiments of the oracles of God; and are become such as have need of milk and not of solid food.

²⁷ All things are delivered to me by my Father: and no one knoweth the Son, but the Father; nor does any one know the Father, but the Son, and he to whom the Son is pleased to reveal Him.

⁴ In Him was life, and the life was the light of men.

¹⁴ And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, being full of grace and truth: and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only-begotten of the Father.

¹⁷ For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ:

²¹ For as the Father raiseth up the dead and giveth life: even so the Son maketh alive whom He pleaseth.

²⁵ Verily, verily I tell you, that the time is coming, and even now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live. ²⁶ For as the Father hath life in Himself, so hath He given also to the Son to have life in Himself. ²⁷ And hath given Him authority also to execute judgement, because He is the Son of man. ²⁸ Wonder not at this; for the time is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, ²⁹ and shall come forth, they that have done good to the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil to the resurrection of damnation.

³³ For the bread of God is that which descendeth from heaven, and giveth life to the world.

⁵¹ I am the living bread, which came down from heaven: if any one eat of this bread, he shall live for ever. And the bread, that I will give, is my flesh, which I will give up for the life of the world.

⁵⁷ As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that feedeth on me he also shall live by me.

⁶⁸ Then Simon Peter answered Him, Lord, to whom shall we go?

³² And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

⁵¹ Verily, verily, I say unto you, If any one keep my word, he shall never see death.

⁷ Jesus therefore said unto them again, Verily, verily I tell you, that I am the door of the sheep.

²⁸ And I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; nor shall any one force them out of my hand.

¹ I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman:

² as Thou hast given Him power over all flesh, that as to all which Thou hast given Him, He might give them eternal life; ³ and this is life eternal, to know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.

³⁷ Pilate therefore said unto Him, Art thou then a king? Jesus answered, Thou sayest right, I am a king. For this end was I born, and for this came I into the world, even that I might bear witness to the truth. Every one that is of the truth, heareth my voice.

¹⁵ and put to death the prince of life; whom God hath raised from the dead, of which we are witnesses.

¹² And there is salvation in no other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we can be saved.

² through whom also we have admission by faith into this grace in which we stand, and boast in hope of the glory of God.

²¹ so grace might reign through righteousness, unto eternal life, by Jesus Christ our Lord.

⁸ Now Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the manifestation of the truth of God, to confirm the promises made to the fathers: ⁹ and that the Gentiles might glorify God for his mercy, as it is written, "For this cause will I celebrate Thee among the Gentiles, and sing praises unto thy name."

¹⁶ that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, administring the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the holy Spirit.

⁴⁵ And so it is written, "The first man Adam was made a living soul." But the last Adam is an enlivening spirit.

¹⁹ For Jesus Christ the Son of God, who was preached among you by us, even by me, and Silvanus, and Timothy, was not yea and nay, ²⁰ but was yea in Him, (for all the promises of God are in Him yea, and in Him amen,) to the glory of God by us:

¹⁸ For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father.

⁹ for all the fulness of the deity dwelleth personally in Him.

¹⁷ which are a shadow of good things to come, but the body is of Christ.

⁴ When Christ, who is your life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.

²⁵ wherefore also He is able to save to the uttermost, those that come unto God by Him, seeing He ever liveth to make intercession for them.

¹⁹ Having therefore, brethren, free admission into the holy places by the blood of Jesus, ²⁰ the new and living way which He hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, ²¹ his flesh, and having a great high-priest over the house of God, ²² let us draw near with sincerity, in the full assurance of faith, having our hearts cleansed from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

⁴ to whom coming as to a living stone, rejected indeed by men, but chosen of God,

¹⁸ As Christ also once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust (that He might introduce us to God) being indeed put to death in the flesh, but raised to life by the Spirit:

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have contemplated, and our very hands have felt concerning the Word of life, ² (for this Life was manifested, and we saw it; and we testify and declare unto you that eternal Life, which was with the Father,

⁸ If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

²³ for whosoever denieth the Son, hath not the Father: but he that confesseth the Son acknowledgeth the Father also.

⁶ This is He that came by water and by blood, even Jesus the Messiah; not with water only, but with water and blood: and of this the Spirit beareth witness, for the Spirit is truth.

²⁰ But we know that the son of God is come, and hath given us understanding, that we may know Him that is true, and we are in Him that is true, and in his son Jesus Christ: He is the true God, and eternal life.

⁹ Whosoever transgresseth, and abideth not in the doctrine of Christ, hath not God: but he, that abideth in the doctrine of Christ, hath both the Father and the Son.

⁷ And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write, These things saith the holy One, He that is true, He that hath the key of David, He that openeth and no one shutteth, and shutteth and no one openeth:

¹⁴ And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write, These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of the creation of God; I know thy works, that thou art neither cold nor hot:

⁸ And when He had taken the book, the four animals, and the twenty four elders, fell down before the Lamb, having every one harps and golden vials full of perfumes, which are the prayers of the saints. ⁹ And they sung a new song, saying, Worthy art thou to take the book, and to open its seals; for thou wast slain, and hast redeemed us to God by thy blood, out of every tribe, and tongue, and people, and nation;

⁹ After this I beheld, and lo, a great multitude, which no one could number, out of all nations, and tribes, and people, and languages, standing before the throne and before the Lamb, clothed in white robes, and with palms in their hands; ¹⁰ and crying with a loud voice, saying, Salvation be ascribed to our God, who sitteth upon the throne, and to the Lamb. ¹¹ And all the angels stood round the throne, and round the elders, and the four animate beings; and fell on their faces before the throne, and worshipped God, saying, Amen: ¹² Blessing, and glory, and wisdom, and thanksgiving, and honor, and power, and strength be ascribed to our God for ever and ever. Amen. ¹³ And one of the elders said unto me, Who are these that are clothed in white robes, and from whence did they come? ¹⁴ And I said unto him, Sir, thou knowest. And he said to me, These are they who come out of great affliction, and have washed their robes, and made them white in the blood of the Lamb. ¹⁵ Therefore they are before the throne of God, and serve Him day and night in his temple: and He that sitteth upon the throne shall dwell among them. ¹⁶ They shall hunger no more, nor thirst any more, nor shall the sun nor any violent heat fall upon them. ¹⁷ For the Lamb, that is in the midst of the throne, shall feed them, and shall lead them to fountains of living waters: and God will wipe off every tear from their eyes.

⁷ And he was permitted to make war upon the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given him over every tribe, and tongue, and nation. ⁸ So that all who dwell upon the earth shall worship him, whose names are not written in the book of life of the Lamb slain from the foundation of the world.

¹¹ And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse, and He that sat upon it is called faithful and true, and in righteousness doth He judge and make war.

¹⁵ And whosoever was not found written in the book of life, was cast into the lake of fire.

¹ And he shewed me a pure river of the water of life, clear as crystal, proceeding out of the throne of God, and of the Lamb.

¹⁷ And the Spirit and the bride say, Come; and let him that heareth say, Come. And let him, that thirsteth, Come. And let him, that desireth it, take the water of life freely.

²² All things are delivered to me by my Father: and none knoweth who the Son is, but the Father: and who the Father is, but the Son; and he to whom the Son pleaseth to reveal Him.

¹⁸ and though no one hath ever seen God, or can see Him: yet the only-begotten Son, who is in the bosom of the Father, hath made Him known.

⁴⁶ Not that any one hath seen the Father, but He who is from God.

¹⁹ Then said they unto Him, Where is thy Father? Jesus answered, Ye neither know me, nor my Father: if ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also.

⁹ Jesus saith unto him, Have I been so long with you, and dost thou not know me? Philip, he that hath seen me, hath seen the Father: and how then dost thou say, Shew us the Father? ¹⁰ Dost thou not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? as to the words which I speak to you, I speak them not of my self; and the Father who abideth in me, doth the works.

¹⁶ and He will give you another comforter to abide with you for ever: ¹⁷ even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, because He abideth with you, and shall be in you. ¹⁸ I will not leave you orphans: I will come to you. ¹⁹ Yet a little while, and the world shall see me no more; but ye shall see me: and because I live, ye shall live also. ²⁰ Then ye shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

²⁴ If I had not done among them such works as no other ever did, they had not comparatively had sin: but now they have both seen, and hated, both me and my Father.

¹³ But when the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He will not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that will He speak, and will shew you things to come. ¹⁴ He shall glorify me, for He shall take of mine and shew it unto you. ¹⁵ All that the Father hath are mine: therefore I said, that He shall take of mine and shew it unto you. ¹⁶ A little while and ye shall not see me: and again a little while and ye shall see me, because I am going to the Father.

³ and this is life eternal, to know Thee the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom thou hast sent.

⁶ I have manifested thy name to the men, whom Thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and Thou gavest them to me, and they have kept thy word.

⁸ for the instructions, which Thou gavest me, I have given to them: and they have received them, and have known of a truth that I came from Thee, and have believed that thou hast sent me.

²¹ That they all may be one, as Thou, O Father, art in me, and I in Thee; that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.

²³ I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that Thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved me.

²⁶ And I have made known to them thy name, and will farther make it known; that the love wherewith Thou hast loved me, may be in them, and I also in them.

⁶ For God, who commanded light to shine out of darkness, hath shined into our hearts, to reflect the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ.

¹⁵ Who is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of the whole creation: ¹⁶ for by Him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are on the earth, the visible and the invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers; all were created by Him, and for Him. ¹⁷ He is before all, and by Him all things subsist.

² that their hearts may be comforted, being knit together in love, and to all the riches of a full assurance of understanding in these things, to the acknowledgment of the mystery of our God and Father, and of Christ: ³ in whom are all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

³ Who being the refulgence of his glory and the imprest image of his person, and sustaining all things by his powerful word, having by Himself performed the purging away of our sins, sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high.

¹³ I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known Him that is from the beginning: and I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one. Yea I have written to you, little children, because ye have known the Father:

⁸ Blessed are the pure in heart; for they shall see God.

⁴³ The day following Jesus had a mind to go out into Galilee, and meeting with Philip, saith unto him, Follow me. ⁴⁴ Now Philip was of Bethsaida the city of Andrew and Peter. ⁴⁵ Philip meeting Nathaniel, saith unto him, We have found Him, of whom Moses in the law, and of whom the prophets also wrote, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Jeseph. ⁴⁶ And Nathaniel said unto him, Can any thing good come out of Nazareth? Philip replied, Come and see.

⁵ Then Jesus lifted up his eyes, and seeing a great multitude come to Him, saith to Philip, Whence shall we buy bread that these people may eat? ⁶ (and this He said to try him, for He knew what He was going to do:) ⁷ Philip answered Him, Two hundred penny-worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one may take a little.

²¹ that came to Philip who was of Bethsaida in Galilee, and asked him, saying, Sir, we have a desire to see Jesus. ²² And Philip cometh and telleth Andrew, and then Andrew and Philip told Jesus.

²⁵ These things have I spoken to you in parables: but the time is coming when I shall no more speak to you in parables, but tell you with plainness concerning the Father.

⁵⁶ Ye hypocrites, ye know how to discern the face of the earth and of the heavens, and why do ye not discern the present time?

³⁰ I and the Father are one. Then the Jews again took up stones to stone Him.

⁴⁵ and he that beholdeth me, beholdeth Him that sent me.

⁷ If ye had known me, ye would have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye do know Him, and may be said to have seen Him.

²⁰ Then ye shall know that I am in my Father, and you in me, and I in you.

¹² Now if it be preached that Christ is risen from the dead, how say some among you, that there is no resurrection of the dead?

⁶ who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be as God.

¹⁵ Who is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of the whole creation:

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² The same was in the beginning with God. ³ By Him were all things made, and without Him was not any one thing made that was made.

³² but He that cometh from heaven, is above all: and what He hath seen and heard, this He testifieth: and yet scarce any one receiveth his testimony. ³³ He that hath received his testimony, hath set his seal to this, that God is true: ³⁴ for He, whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth the Spirit to Him not by measure.

¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh without intermission, and so do I.

¹⁹ Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Verily, verily I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He seeth the Father do: for whatsoever He doth, these also the Son doth in like manner.

³⁸ For I came down from heaven, not to do my own will, but the will of Him that sent me. ³⁹ And this is the will of the Father who sent me, that of all that He hath given me, I should lose none, but should raise them up at the last day. ⁴⁰ And this is the will of Him that sent me, that every one who looketh attentively at the Son, and so believeth on Him, may have eternal life: and I will raise him up at the last day.

¹⁶ Jesus answered them and said, The doctrine that I teach is not mine, but his that sent me.

²⁸ Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me, ye say, and ye know whence I am: now I am not come of myself, but He that sent me is true, whom ye know not. ²⁹ But I know Him, for I am from Him, and He hath sent me.

²⁸ Jesus therefore said unto them, When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then ye shall know that I am He, and that I do nothing of myself, but as my Father hath instructed me, I speak these things.

³⁸ I speak that which I have seen with my Father, and ye do what ye have seen with your father.

⁴⁰ but now ye seek to kill me, who have told you the truth which I have heard from God: Abraham did not thus.

³⁸ But if I do, though ye believe not me, believe the works: that ye may know and believe, that the Father is in me, and I in Him.

²⁶ And every one that is alive, and believeth in me, shall never die.

⁴⁹ For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father, who sent me, gave me a commandment, what I should say and what I should speak.

²¹ That they all may be one, as Thou, O Father, art in me, and I in Thee; that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me. ²² And the glory which thou gavest me, I have given them: that they may be one, even as we are one. ²³ I in them, and thou in me, that they may be made perfect in one; and that the world may know that Thou hast sent me, and hast loved them, as Thou hast loved me.

³⁸ how God anointed Him with the holy Spirit and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed by the devil: for God was with Him.

¹⁹ to declare, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing to them their trespasses, and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation.

¹⁹ For it pleased the Father, that all fulness should dwell in Him;

⁷ Yea there are three that bear witness, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood:

⁴ And Jesus said to them in answer, Go and tell John the things which ye hear and see: ⁵ the blind are restored to sight, and the lame walk; the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear; the dead are raised to life, and the poor have the gospel preached to them:

²¹ (Now at that very time He cured many of their diseases and plagues, and of evil spirits, and gave sight to many that were blind.) ²² And Jesus answering said unto them, Go and tell John what ye have seen and heard: that the blind recover sight, the lame walk, lepers are cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, the poor have the gospel preached to them, ²³ and happy is he who shall not be offended at any thing in me.

³⁶ But I have a testimony greater than John's: for the works which the Father hath given me to perform, the very works which I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.

²⁵ Jesus answered them, I have told you, and ye do not believe me: though the works that I do in the name of my Father, testify of me.

³² Many good works have I shewn you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?

³⁸ so that the word of Esaias the prophet was fulfilled, which he spake, saying, Lord, who hath believed our report? and to whom hath the arm of the Lord been revealed? ³⁹ And therefore they could not believe; for Esaias had also said, ⁴⁰ He hath blinded their eyes, and hardened their heart, that they might not see with their eyes, and understand with their heart, and be converted, and I should heal them.

¹⁰ Dost thou not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in me? as to the words which I speak to you, I speak them not of my self; and the Father who abideth in me, doth the works.

²² Ye men of Israel, hear these words; Jesus of Nazareth, a man approved of God among you, by miracles, and prodigies, and signs, which God wrought by Him in the midst of you,

⁴ God also testifying together with them by signs, and wonders, and divers miracles, and gifts of the holy Spirit, according to his own will.

²¹ but Jesus answering said unto them, Verily I tell you, if ye have faith and doubt not, ye shall not only be able to do this to a fig-tree, but also if ye shall say to this mountain, "Be thou removed and cast into the sea," it shall be done.

¹³ and seeing a fig-tree at a distance, with leaves, He went to see if He might find any thing upon it; and when He came to it, He found nothing but leaves; (for the time of gathering figs was not yet come:) And Jesus spake and said unto it,

¹⁷ And these signs shall accompany them that believe; in my name shall they cast out demons, they shall speak with new tongues;

¹⁷ And the seventy returned with joy saying, Lord, even the devils are subject to us through thy name. ¹⁸ And He said unto them, I beheld Satan, as lightning, falling from heaven. ¹⁹ Behold I give you power to trample upon serpents and scorpions, and over all the might of the enemy; and nothing shall at all hurt you.

³³ Therefore Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while I am to be among you, and then I shall go to Him that sent me.

³⁹ (This He spake of the Spirit, which they that believe on Him should receive; for the holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet glorified.)

⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth, it is expedient for you that I should go away; for if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you.

⁴ and they were all filled with the holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance. ⁵ Now there were at Jerusalem Jews, devout men, from every nation under heaven. ⁶ And when this rumor was spread, the multitude came together and were astonished; for every one heard them speaking in his own language. ⁷ And they were all amazed and wondered, saying to one another, Behold, are not all these, that are speaking, Galileans? ⁸ and how do we every one hear them in our own native tongue? ⁹ Parthians and Medes and Elamites, and those that dwell in Mesopotamia, and Judea, and Capadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, ¹⁰ Egypt and the parts of Libya about Cyrene, and strangers from Rome, Jews and proselytes, ¹¹ Cretans and Arabians, we hear them speaking in our own tongues the wonderful works of God.

³³ Therefore being exalted by the right hand of God, and having received of the Father the promise of the holy Spirit, He hath poured forth this gift, which ye now see and hear.

⁴¹ They therefore that received his word with readiness were baptized: and in that same day there were added unto them about three thousand souls.

⁶ But Peter said, Silver and gold I have not; but what I have I give thee: In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, rise up and walk. ⁷ And taking him by the right hand, he raised him up: and immediately his feet and ancles were strengthened: ⁸ and leaping up he stood firm, and walked; and entered with them into the temple, walking, and leaping, and praising God.

⁴ But many of them who heard the word, believed: and the number of the men was about five thousand.

⁹ and elders of Israel, if we are this day examined about the benefit done to the impotent man, ¹⁰ by what means he is cured, be it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, but whom God hath raised from the dead, even by Him doth this man stand here before you whole. ¹¹ This is the stone that was set at nought by you builders, which is become the head of the corner. ¹² And there is salvation in no other; for there is no other name under heaven given among men, by which we can be saved.

¹⁶ and conferred among themselves, saying, What shall we do with these men? for that indeed an evident miracle hath been wrought by them is manifest to all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, and we cannot deny it.

³³ And with great power did the apostles give their testimony of the resurrection of the Lord Jesus: and great grace was upon them all.

¹⁵ insomuch that they brought the sick out into the streets, and laid them on beds and couches, that at lest the shadow of Peter, as he came by, might pass over some of them.

⁷ And the word of God increased; and the number of the disciples in Jerusalem was greatly multiplied; and a great number of the priests became obedient to the faith.

⁷ for impure spirits crying with a loud voice came out of many that were possessed by them; and many paralytic and lame persons were cured.

³⁴ And Peter said unto him, Eneas, Jesus the Messiah, healeth thee. Arise, and make thy bed. And he rose up immediately.

⁴⁰ But Peter, putting them all out, kneeled down and prayed: and then turning to the body he said, Tabitha, arise. And she opened her eyes, and when she saw Peter, she sat up.

⁴⁶ for they heard them speaking in divers languages, and glorifying God.

¹⁸ And this she did for many days. But Paul being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her.

¹² so that even handkerchiefs or aprons were brought from his body to the sick, and the diseases lest them, and evil spirits went out of them.

¹⁹ through the efficacy of signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round as far as to Illyricum, I have fully declared the gospel of Christ:

¹⁰ to another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another the discerning of spirits; to another various kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: ¹¹ but all these worketh that one and the same Spirit distributing to every one in particular as He sees fit.

⁷ Ask, and it shall be given you; seek, and ye shall find; knock, and it shall be opened unto you:

²² And all things whatsoever ye ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.

²⁴ Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye ask in prayer, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.

⁹ And so I tell you, Ask and it shall be given you, seek and ye shall find, knock and it shall be opened unto you.

¹⁰ Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith unto thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldst have asked of Him, and He would have given thee living water.

¹⁴ but he that drinketh of the water which I shall give him, shall never thirst: but the water, which I shall give him, will be in him a fountain of water springing up unto eternal life.

³⁷ And on the last day, the great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, If any one thirst, let him come unto me and drink.

³¹ And when he was gone out Jesus said, Now is the Son of man glorified, and God is glorified in Him:

⁶ Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, and the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father but by me.

¹⁴ If ye ask any thing in my name, I will do it.

⁷ If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask what ye will, and it shall be granted you.

¹⁶ Ye did not first choose me, but I chose you, and have appointed you to go forth, and bear fruit, and that your fruit should be lasting: that whatsoever ye ask the Father in my name, He may give it you.

²³ And in that day ye shall ask me nothing: but I assure you, that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, He will give it you.

²⁶ In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I do not say that I will ask the Father on your behalf.

⁴ I have glorified Thee on earth, I have finished the work which thou gavest me to do: ⁵ and now, O Father, glorify Thou me with thine own self, with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was made.

⁸ For this I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

¹² by whom we have freedom and access with confidence through faith in Him.

¹⁴ For this cause I bow my knees to the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ,

²⁰ Now to Him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above all that we can ask or think, according to the power operating in us, ²¹ to Him be glory in the church by Christ Jesus, throughout all the generations of eternal ages. Amen.

⁹ Wherefore God hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name above every name: ¹⁰ that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of celestial beings, as well as of those on earth, and of those under the earth; ¹¹ and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

¹³ I can do all things through Christ strengthening me.

¹⁷ And whatsoever ye do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to our God and Father by Him.

¹⁵ for we have not an high-priest who cannot sympathize with our infirmities, but was in all respects tempted in like manner with us, yet without sin.

¹⁵ By him therefore let us offer the sacrifice of praise to God continually, that is, the fruit of our lips giving thanks to his name.

⁵ And if any of you lack wisdom, let him ask it of God, who giveth to all men liberally and upbraideth not, and it shall be given him.

¹⁶ Confess your faults one to another, and pray for one another, that ye may be healed: the fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.

⁵ and precious, ye also are built up as living stones, a spiritual house, an holy priesthood to offer up spiritual sacrifices acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.

²² and whatsoever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep his commandments, and do the things that are pleasing in his sight.

¹⁴ And this is the confidence, which we have towards Him, that if we ask any thing according to his will, He heareth us:

³⁷ He that loveth father or mother more than me, is not worthy of me; and he that loveth son or daughter more than me, is not worthy of me:

³⁴ Then will the king say to them on his right hand, Come, ye blessed of my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world: ³⁵ for I was famishing, and ye gave me food; I was thirsty, and ye gave me drink; I was a stranger, and ye took me in; ³⁶ I was naked, and ye clothed me; I was sick, and ye took care of me; I was in prison, and ye visited me. ³⁷ Then will the righteous answer Him, saying, Lord, when did we see thee hungry, and fed thee? or thirsty, and gave thee drink? ³⁸ and when did we see thee a stranger, and took thee in? ³⁹ or naked, and clothed thee? and when did we see thee sick, or in prison, and visited thee? ⁴⁰ And the king replying will say unto them, Verily I declare unto you, inasmuch as ye did it to one of the lest of these my brethren, ye did it to me.

⁴² Jesus said unto them, If God were your father, ye would love me: for I came forth, and do come, from God; neither came I of myself, but He sent me.

²¹ He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest my self to him. ²² Judas (not the Iscariot) saith unto Him, Lord, how is it that thou wilt manifest thy self to us, and not to the world? ²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, If any one love me, he will observe my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and will make our abode with him. ²⁴ He that doth not love me, doth not observe my words: and yet the word that ye hear, is not mine, but the Father's who hath sent me.

¹⁰ and if ye keep my commandments ye will continue in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and continue in his love. ¹¹ These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy in you may continue, and that your joy may be full. ¹² This is my commandment, that ye love one another, as I have loved you. ¹³ Greater love hath no one than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends: ¹⁴ and ye are my friends, if ye do what I command you.

¹⁵ Now when they had dined, Jesus saith to Simon Peter, Simon son of Jonas, dost thou love me more than these? He saith unto Him, Yes, Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee. He saith unto him, Feed my lambs. ¹⁶ He saith to him again the second time, Simon son of Jonas, dost thou love me? He saith unto Him, Yes, Lord, Thou knowest that I love Thee. ¹⁷ He saith unto him, Feed my sheep. He saith unto him the third time, Simon son of Jonas, dost thou love me? Peter was grieved, that He said to him the third time, Dost thou love me? And he said unto Him, Lord, Thou knowest all things, Thou knowest that I love Thee. Jesus saith unto him, Feed my sheep.

²² If any one love not the Lord Jesus Christ, let him be made a curse.

¹⁴ For the love of Christ constraineth us, being fully persuaded of this, that if One died for all, then were all dead. ¹⁵ And He died for all, that those who live might no longer live to themselves, but to Him who died for them and rose again.

⁸ I speak not by way of command, but to prove the sincerity of your love also, by means of the forwardness of others. ⁹ For ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, that ye by his poverty might be rich.

⁶ For in Christ Jesus neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision, but faith which worketh by love.

¹⁶ that He would grant you, according to his glorious riches, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit, as to the inner man; ¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith: and be ye rooted and grounded in love, ¹⁸ that ye may be able, with all the saints, to comprehend what is the breadth, and length, and depth,

²⁴ Grace be with all that love our Lord Jesus Christ in sincerity. Amen.

²⁰ According to my earnest expectation and hope, that I shall be put to shame in nothing; but that with all freedom of speech, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether by life or by death. ²¹ For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain: and if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labor: ²² so that I know not what to chuse; ²³ for I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ, which is much preferable:

⁷ which were once gain to me, I counted loss for Christ. ⁸ Yea doubtless and I count all but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all, and I account them but dung, that I may gain Christ, and be found in Him, ⁹ not having my own righteousness which is of the law, but that which is by the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: that I may know Him, ¹⁰ and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, being made conformable to his death; ¹¹ if by any means I may attain to the resurrection of the dead:

⁸ whom having not seen ye love; in whom, though now ye see Him not, yet believing ye rejoice with joy ineffable and full of glory; receiving the end of your faith,

³ And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep his commandments. ⁴ He that saith, I know Him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him. ⁵ But whosoever keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: and by this we know that we are in Him.

¹⁹ We love Him, because He first loved us. If any one say, ²⁰ I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for how can he, that loveth not his brother, whom he hath seen, love God whom he hath not seen?

² and in this we know that we love the children of God, since we love God and keep his commandments. ³ For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

⁶ And this is love, that we walk according to his commandments. This is the commandment, as ye heard from the beginning, that ye should walk in it.

²⁰ and teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the world. Amen.

¹⁸ I will not leave you orphans: I will come to you.

²⁶ But the comforter, that is the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said unto you.

²⁶ But when the comforter is come, whom I will send to you from the Father, (even the Spirit of truth, which proceedeth from the Father,) He shall testify of me.

⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth, it is expedient for you that I should go away; for if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. ⁸ And when He comes, He will convince the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement: ⁹ of sin, because they believe not on me; ¹⁰ of righteousness, because I am going to my Father and ye shall see me no more; ¹¹ and of judgement, because the prince of this world is judged. ¹² I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now. ¹³ But when the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He will not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that will He speak, and will shew you things to come. ¹⁴ He shall glorify me, for He shall take of mine and shew it unto you. ¹⁵ All that the Father hath are mine: therefore I said, that He shall take of mine and shew it unto you.

²² And ye therefore now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy shall no one take from you.

²⁶ In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I do not say that I will ask the Father on your behalf. ²⁷ For the Father himself loveth you; because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came from God: and I indeed came from the Father,

⁹ I pray for them: I pray not for the world, but for those whom Thou hast given me, for they are thine. ¹⁰ And all my concerns are thine, and thine are mine: and I am therefore glorified in them. ¹¹ And as I am to be no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to Thee, Holy Father, keep by thy name those whom Thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

¹⁵ I do not pray that Thou wouldest take them out of the world, but that thou wouldest keep them from the evil.

²⁰ Nor do I pray for these only, but for them also that shall believe on me through their word.

³¹ Then the churches throughout all Judea, and Galilee, and Samaria, had rest, being edified and walking in the fear of the Lord; and through the consolation of the holy Spirit were multiplied.

⁵² And the disciples were filled with joy, and with the holy Spirit.

⁵ and experience hope, and this hope maketh us not ashamed; because the love of God is diffused in our hearts by the holy Spirit that is given to us.

¹⁵ For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father. ¹⁶ So that the Spirit itself beareth witness with our spirit, that we are the children of God.

²⁶ And the Spirit likewise helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for, as we ought: but the Spirit itself intercedes for us with unutterable groans. ²⁷ And He that searcheth the hearts, knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit; for he intercedeth for the saints according to the will of God.

³⁴ Who is he that condemneth? Is it Christ, that died for us? yea rather, that is risen again, who is also at the right hand of God, and who maketh intercession for us?

¹⁷ but in righteousness and peace, and joy in the holy Ghost: for he,

¹³ Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope through the power of the holy Spirit.

²² But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, long-suffering,

¹³ In whom ye also trusted, when ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also when ye believed, ye were sealed with the holy Spirit of promise, ¹⁴ who is the pledge of our inheritance, till the redemption of his purchased possession, to the praise of his glory.

¹ If therefore there be any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any participation of the Spirit,

³ For ye are dead as to the world, and your life is hid with Christ in God. ⁴ When Christ, who is your life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with Him in glory.

¹⁶ And may our Lord Jesus Christ himself, and our God and Father, who hath loved us, and hath given us everlasting consolation, and good hope through grace, comfort your hearts,

¹ My little children, I write these things unto you, that ye may not sin. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.

²⁰ but the Spirit of your Father that speaketh by you.

¹⁶ and He will give you another comforter to abide with you for ever:

²³ Jesus answered and said unto him, If any one love me, he will observe my word: and my Father will love him, and we will come unto him, and will make our abode with him.

¹³ But when the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He will not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that will He speak, and will shew you things to come.

⁹ But ye are not in the flesh, but in the spirit, if the Spirit of God dwelleth in you: but if any one hath not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his. ¹⁰ And if Christ be in you, the body indeed is dead because of sin, but the spirit is alive because of righteousness. ¹¹ And if the Spirit of Him that raised up Jesus from the dead, dwelleth in you, He that raised up Christ from the dead, will also restore your mortal bodies to life, by his Spirit that now dwelleth in you.

¹³ for if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die; but if by the Spirit ye mortify the deeds of the body, ye shall live. ¹⁴ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are the sons of God.

¹⁴ But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness to him; and he cannot understand them, because they are spiritually discerned.

¹⁶ Do ye not know that ye are the temple of God, and the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

¹⁹ What! know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost, which is in you, which ye have from God?

¹⁵ What is then to be done? I will pray with the Spirit, but I will pray to be understood: I will sing with the spirit, but I will sing to be understood.

¹⁶ and what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God: as God hath said, "I will dwell in them, and I will walk among them, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people."

⁵ Examine yourselves, whether ye be in the faith; prove yourselves: do ye not know yourselves to be such that Jesus Christ is in you? unless ye are reprovable.

⁶ And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.

²² in whom ye also are built up together for an habitation of God by the Spirit.

¹⁷ that Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith: and be ye rooted and grounded in love,

²⁷ to whom God would make known the rich glory of this mystery, among the gentiles; which is this, that Christ is in you the hope of glory:

¹⁴ The good thing committed to thee keep, through the Holy Spirit which dwelleth in us.

²⁷ But the unction, which ye have received from Him, abideth in you; and therefore ye have no need that any should teach you: since this very unction teacheth you concerning all things, and is truth and not falshood; even as that hath taught you, abide in Him.

²⁴ And he, that keepeth his commandments, abideth in Him, and He in him: and hereby we know that He abideth in us, even by the Spirit which He hath given us.

⁴ Ye are of God, little children, and have overcome them; because greater is He, that is in you, than he that is in the world.

⁶ We are of God: he, that knoweth God, heareth us; but he, who is not of God, heareth not us. By this we know the Spirit of truth, and the spirit of error.

¹² No one hath ever seen God: but if we love one another, God dwelleth in us and his love is perfected in us. ¹³ By this we know that we are in Him, and He in us; because He hath given us of his Spirit.

¹⁷ Let him, that hath an ear, hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. To him that overcometh will I give to eat of the hidden manna: and I will give him a white stone, and on the stone a new name written, which no one knoweth, but He that receiveth it.

²⁰ for where two or three are assembled together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

³ And as I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself, that where I am, ye may also be.

³³ These things have I spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have trouble: but be of good courage, I have overcome the world.

² grace be to you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ. ³ Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of mercies, and God of all consolation; who comforteth us in all our affliction, ⁴ that we may be able to comfort those, that are in any trouble, by the consolation wherewith we ourselves are comforted by God. ⁵ For as the sufferings for the sake of Christ abound on us, so our consolation by Christ doth also abound. ⁶ And whether we be afflicted, it is for your consolation and salvation, which is wrought out by the patient enduring of the same sufferings which we also suffer: or if we be comforted, it is for your consolation and salvation.

¹⁸ for as He himself hath suffered, in being tempted, He is able to succour those that are tempted.

⁵⁶ abideth in me and I in him. ⁵⁷ As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father; so he that feedeth on me he also shall live by me. ⁵⁸ This is the bread that came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat, and yet are dead. He that eateth this bread shall live for ever.

²¹ Jesus therefore said unto them again, "I am going away, and ye shall seek me, and shall die in your sin: where I go ye cannot come."

²⁵ Jesus then told her, I am the resurrection and the life: he that believeth on me, though he were dead, shall live again.

³⁵ Then Jesus said unto them, Yet a little while the light is to be with you; walk while ye have the light, least darkness overtake you; for he that walketh in the dark knoweth not whither he goeth.

¹⁶ A little while and ye shall not see me: and again a little while and ye shall see me, because I am going to the Father.

¹⁰ For if when we were enemies, we were reconciled to God by the death of his Son; much more being reconciled shall we be saved by his life.

²⁰ But now Christ is risen from the dead, and is become the first-fruits of them that slept:

¹⁰ cast down, but not destroyed; always bearing about in the body the dying of the Lord Jesus, that the life also of Jesus might be manifested in our body. ¹¹ For we, who are yet living, are always exposed to death for the sake of Jesus, that the life also of Jesus may be manifested in our mortal flesh. ¹² So that death is wrought in us, but life in you.

¹ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have contemplated, and our very hands have felt concerning the Word of life, ² (for this Life was manifested, and we saw it; and we testify and declare unto you that eternal Life, which was with the Father, ³ and was manifested unto us) what we have seen and heard we declare unto you, that ye also may have communion with us: and our communion is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

⁵⁶ abideth in me and I in him.

⁵ I am the vine, ye are the branches; he that abideth in me, and I in him, beareth much fruit: but without me ye can do nothing. ⁶ If any one abide not in me, he is cast out as a useless branch and withereth: and they gather them up, and throw them into the fire, and they are burnt. ⁷ If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ask what ye will, and it shall be granted you.

⁷ They now know that all things whatsoever Thou hast given me, are indeed from Thee;

¹¹ And as I am to be no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to Thee, Holy Father, keep by thy name those whom Thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are.

¹ There is therefore now no condemnation to them that are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh but after the spirit.

⁷ Salute Andronicus and Junias my kinsmen, and my fellow-prisoners, who are men of note among the apostles, and who were in Christ before me.

³⁰ But ye are of Him in Christ Jesus, who from God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

¹⁷ And therefore if any one be in Christ, he is created anew: old things are passed away, behold all things are become new.

² I knew a man in Christ above fourteen years ago (whether in the body, or out of the body, I know not, God knoweth) such a one caught up to the third heaven.

²⁰ I am crucified with Christ; yet I live, though no longer I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave up himself for me.

¹⁰ created in Christ Jesus unto good works, for which God before prepared us, that we might walk in them.

¹² No one hath ever seen God: but if we love one another, God dwelleth in us and his love is perfected in us.

²⁸ but He replied, Yea rather happy are they, that hear the word of God and keep it.

¹⁵ If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will ask the Father,

⁹ As the Father hath loved me, and I have loved you, continue in my love: ¹⁰ and if ye keep my commandments ye will continue in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and continue in his love.

¹⁴ and ye are my friends, if ye do what I command you.

¹⁴ He shall glorify me, for He shall take of mine and shew it unto you.

²⁷ For the Father himself loveth you; because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came from God: and I indeed came from the Father,

⁹ And the Lord said to Paul by a vision in the night, "Fear not, but speak: and be not silent: ¹⁰ for I am with thee, and no man shall lay hands on thee to hurt thee; for I have much people in this city." ¹¹ And he staid a year and six months, teaching among them the word of God.

¹⁸ And I saw Him saying unto me, Make haste and go quickly out of Jerusalem; for they will not receive thy testimony concerning me.

¹⁸ But we all with unveiled face beholding, as in a glass, the glory of the Lord, are transformed according to the same image from glory to glory, as proceeding from the Spirit of the Lord.

⁸ For this I besought the Lord thrice, that it might depart from me.

¹⁷ But the Lord stood by me, and strengthened me; that by me the gospel might be fully spread, and that all the nations might hear: and so I was delivered out of the mouth of the lion. ¹⁸ And the Lord will deliver me from every evil work, and will preserve me to his heavenly kingdom: to whom be glory throughout all ages. Amen.

²² The Lord Jesus Christ be with thy spirit. Grace be with you all. Amen.

²³ And the scripture was fulfilled, which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was counted to him for righteousness; and he was called the friend of God. ²⁴ Ye see then that a man is justified by works, and not by faith only.

⁵ But whosoever keepeth his word, in him verily is the love of God perfected: and by this we know that we are in Him.

¹ Behold then what manner of love the Father hath bestowed upon us, that we should be called the children of God: though for this reason the world knoweth us not, because it knew not Him.

¹⁸ My little children, let us not love in word, or in tongue only, but in deed and in truth. ¹⁹ And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. ²⁰ For, if our heart condemn us, God is still greater than our heart, and knoweth all things. ²¹ Beloved, if our heart condemn us not, then have we confidence towards God: ²² and whatsoever we ask, we receive from Him, because we keep his commandments, and do the things that are pleasing in his sight. ²³ And this is his commandment, that we should believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ, and love one another, as He hath given us a charge to do. ²⁴ And he, that keepeth his commandments, abideth in Him, and He in him: and hereby we know that He abideth in us, even by the Spirit which He hath given us.

³ For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any one hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me.

¹⁴ Happy are they that do his commandments, so shall they have a right to the tree of life, and may enter in by the gates into the city.

¹⁸ and Philip, and Bartholomew, and Matthew, and Thomas, and James the son of Alpheus, and Thaddeus,

⁴ Nicodemus saith unto Him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter a second time into his mother's womb, and be born?

⁹ Nicodemus answered and said unto Him, How can these things be?

¹¹ The woman saith unto Him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: whence then hast thou the living water?

⁵² The Jews therefore cavilled amongst themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?

⁶⁰ Many therefore of his disciples, when they heard Him, said, This discourse is hard to be understood, who can take it in?

¹⁷ Some of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is the meaning of this that He saith to us, A little while and ye shall not see me, and again a little while and ye shall see me, and---because I am going to the Father? ¹⁸ they said therefore, What is this little while that He speaks of? we do not understand what He means.

¹³ And when they were come in to the city, they went up into an upper room, where Peter, and James, and John, and Andrew, Philip and Thomas, Bartholomew, and Matthew, James the son of Alpheus, and Simon the zealot, and Jude the brother of James, usually abode.

⁴⁰ Him God raised up the third day, and gave Him to be seen openly; not to all the people, ⁴¹ but to witnesses before appointed by God, even to us, who did eat and drink with Him, after He rose from the dead.

¹ Jude a servant of Jesus Christ, and brother of James, to them that are sanctified in God the Father, and who are preserved and called in Jesus Christ;

¹⁷ But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh without intermission, and so do I. ¹⁸ For this therefore the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He had not only broken the sabbath, but had also called God his own Father, making Himself equal with God. ¹⁹ Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Verily, verily I say unto you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He seeth the Father do: for whatsoever He doth, these also the Son doth in like manner.

¹⁷ even the Spirit of truth, whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth Him not, neither knoweth Him: but ye know Him, because He abideth with you, and shall be in you.

²¹ He that hath my commandments and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest my self to him.

²⁴ Let that therefore, which ye have heard from the beginning, abide in you: for if that, which ye heard from the beginning, remain in you, ye also will remain in the Son and in the Father.

¹⁵ Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God. ¹⁶ And we have known and believed the love which God hath towards us: for God is love; and he, that dwelleth in love, dwelleth in God, and God in him.

²⁰ Behold, I stand at the door and knock: if any one hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. ²¹ To him that overcometh I will grant to sit with me on my throne, as I also have overcome, and am set down with my Father on his throne.

²² And I saw no temple in it: for the Lord God almighty, and the Lamb, are the temple of it.

³ And every curse shall cease: and the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it, and his servants shall serve Him.

²¹ Jesus replied, If thou wouldst be perfect, go, sell thy estate, and give it to the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven; and come and follow me.

⁴¹ Then will He say also to those on the left hand, Depart from me, ye cursed, into everlasting fire, prepared for the devil and his angels: ⁴² for I was famishing, and ye gave me nothing to eat; I was a-thirst, and ye gave me no drink; ⁴³ I was a stranger, and ye took me not in; naked, and ye clothed me not; sick, and in prison, and ye took no care of me. ⁴⁴ Then will they also answer Him, saying, Lord, when saw we thee famishing, or a-thirst, or a stranger, or naked, or sick, or in prison, and did not relieve thee? ⁴⁵ Then will He reply to them, saying, Verily I tell you, inasmuch as ye did it not to one of the lest of these, ye did it not to me. ⁴⁶ And these shall go away into everlasting punishment: but the righteous into life everlasting.

³⁴ for He, whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth the Spirit to Him not by measure.

³⁸ And ye have not his word abiding in you; because ye believe not Him, whom He hath sent.

²⁸ Jesus therefore cried out in the temple, teaching and saying, Ye both know me, ye say, and ye know whence I am: now I am not come of myself, but He that sent me is true, whom ye know not.

²⁶ I have many things to say and to judge concerning you: but I only say, He that sent me is true, and I declare to the world those things, which I have heard from Him.

⁴⁴ And Jesus raised his voice, and said, He that believeth on me, believeth not on me only, but on Him that sent me: ⁴⁵ and he that beholdeth me, beholdeth Him that sent me. ⁴⁶ I am come a light into the world, that whosoever believeth on me, might not abide in darkness. ⁴⁷ And if any one hear my words and believe not, I do not condemn him: for I am not now come to condemn the world, but to save the world. ⁴⁸ He that rejecteth me, and receiveth not my words, hath one that judgeth him: the word, that I have spoken, will condemn him at the last day. ⁴⁹ For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father, who sent me, gave me a commandment, what I should say and what I should speak. ⁵⁰ And I know that his commandment is life eternal: the things therefore which I speak, I so speak, as the Father hath directed me.

¹⁶ In this we know his love, that He laid down his life for us: and we should be ready to lay down our lives for the brethren. ¹⁷ But if any one, who hath the good things of the world, seeth his brother in want, and shutteth up his bowels from him, how dwelleth the love of God in him? ¹⁸ My little children, let us not love in word, or in tongue only, but in deed and in truth. ¹⁹ And hereby we know that we are of the truth, and shall assure our hearts before Him. ²⁰ For, if our heart condemn us, God is still greater than our heart, and knoweth all things.

²⁹ And now I have told you before it come to pass, that when it cometh to pass ye may believe.

¹¹ These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy in you may continue, and that your joy may be full.

¹ These things have I spoken unto you, that ye may not be offended: ² for they will excommunicate you: yea, the time is coming, that whosoever killeth you, will think that he offers an acceptable service to God. ³ And these things will they do unto you; because they have not known the Father, nor me. ⁴ But I have told you these things, that when the time cometh, ye may remember that I told you of them. Though I did not tell you of them at the beginning, because I was with you.

¹² I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now.

⁶ I have manifested thy name to the men, whom Thou gavest me out of the world: thine they were, and Thou gavest them to me, and they have kept thy word. ⁷ They now know that all things whatsoever Thou hast given me, are indeed from Thee; ⁸ for the instructions, which Thou gavest me, I have given to them: and they have received them, and have known of a truth that I came from Thee, and have believed that thou hast sent me.

¹⁸ Now the birth of Jesus Christ was in wise: when Mary his mother was promised in marriage to Joseph, before they came together, she was found with child by the Holy Ghost:

²⁰ and when he was thinking on these things, behold an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Joseph thou Son of David, scruple not to take unto thee Mary thy wife; for that which is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit.

¹¹ I indeed baptize you with water unto repentance; but He that cometh after me, is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry: He shall baptize you with the holy Spirit and with fire.

¹⁹ Go ye therefore and instruct all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the holy Ghost,

³⁶ for David himself said by the holy Spirit, The LORD said unto my Lord, Sit thou at my right hand till I make thine enemies thy footstool.

¹¹ But when they shall lead you to deliver you up, be not anxiously careful beforehand what ye shall speak, neither premeditate: but whatever shall be suggested to you at that very time, this speak: for it is not you that speak, but the holy Spirit.

¹⁵ and he shall drink neither wine nor any other strong liquor; and he shall be filled with the holy Spirit even from his birth;

³⁵ And the angel answered and said unto her, The holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee, and therefore thine holy offspring shall be called the Son of God: and lo,

⁴¹ And as soon as Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the child leaped in her womb, and Elisabeth was filled with the holy Spirit:

⁶⁷ And his father Zacharias was filled with the holy Spirit,

²⁵ And there was a man at Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and he was a just and a religious man, who expected the consolation of Israel; and the holy Spirit was upon him.

²² the heaven was opened, and the holy Spirit descended in a corporeal form, like a dove upon Him, and there came a voice from heaven saying, Thou art my beloved Son, in thee I am well pleased.

¹³ If ye then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more shall your heavenly Father give the holy Spirit to them that ask Him?

⁴⁹ but do ye continue in the city of Jerusalem, till ye are endued with power from on high.

²² his disciples remembered, that He had said this to them: and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

⁴⁵ It is written in the prophets, "And they shall all be taught of God." Every one therefore that hath heard and learned from the Father, cometh unto me.

¹⁶ Now his disciples did not understand these things at the first: but when Jesus was glorified, then they remembered that these things were written concerning Him, and that they had done thus unto Him.

¹³ But when the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He will not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that will He speak, and will shew you things to come. ¹⁴ He shall glorify me, for He shall take of mine and shew it unto you.

²² And when He said this, He breathed upon them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the holy Spirit:

² till the day in which He was taken up, after He had by the holy Spirit given instructions to the apostles whom He had chosen:

⁴ And meeting them together He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the promise of the Father, which, said He, ye have heard from me;

⁸ But ye shall receive power from the holy Spirit coming upon you: and ye shall be my witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea, and Samaria, and to the uttermost part of the earth.

⁴ and they were all filled with the holy Spirit, and began to speak in other languages, as the Spirit gave them utterance.

³ But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan so filled thine heart, that thou shouldst lie to the holy Ghost, and keep back part of the price of the land?

⁵¹ Ye stiff-necked, and uncircumcised in heart and ears, ye do always resist the holy Spirit: as your fathers did, so do ye.

⁵⁵ But he being full of the holy Spirit looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing at the right hand of God:

¹⁶ Then I remembered the word of the Lord, how He said, John indeed baptized with water; but ye shall be baptized with the holy Spirit.

² and as they were ministring to the Lord, and fasting, the holy Spirit said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul, for the work to which I have called them.

⁴ These therefore being sent forth by the holy Spirit came down to Seleucia, and from thence they sailed away to Cyprus.

⁸ And God who knoweth the heart, bare witness to them, giving them the holy Spirit, as He had done also to us:

²⁸ For it seemed good to the holy Spirit, and so to us, to lay no more burthen upon you than these necessary things.

⁶ And when they had passed through Phrygia and Galatia, being forbidden by the holy Spirit to preach the word in Asia, they came to Mysia, and endeavoured to go to Bithynia:

²⁸ Take heed therefore to yourselves, and to all the flock, in which the holy Spirit hath appointed you bishops, to feed the church of God, which He purchased with his own blood.

³⁵ I have shewed you in all things, that by labouring thus ye ought to support the infirm; and to remember the words of the Lord Jesus, who said, It is more blessed to give than to receive.

²⁵ And so disagreeing one with another they separated, when Paul had said one word, to wit, that the holy Spirit spake rightly by Esaias the prophet to our fathers,

¹⁰ But God hath revealed them to us by his Spirit: for the Spirit searcheth all things, even the deep things of God. ¹¹ For who among men knoweth the things of a man, but the spirit of a man which is in him? so also the things of God no one knoweth, but the Spirit of God. ¹² Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit of God; that we might know the things that are graciously bestowed upon us by God: ¹³ which we also speak of, not in words dictated by human wisdom, but in those which are dictated by the holy Spirit; explaining spiritual things by spiritual words.

³ I must acquaint you, that no one speaking by the Spirit of God, calleth Jesus a curse: and no one can say that Jesus is the Lord, but by the holy Ghost.

⁶ by purity, by knowledge, by long-suffering, by kindness, by the holy Spirit,

¹⁴ and the love of God, and the communication of the Holy Spirit be with you all. Amen.

¹³ In whom ye also trusted, when ye heard the word of truth, the gospel of your salvation: in whom also when ye believed, ye were sealed with the holy Spirit of promise,

¹⁷ that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of glory, would give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation to the knowledge of Him,

³⁰ And grieve not the holy Spirit of God whereby ye are sealed to the day of redemption.

⁵ For our gospel came not to you in word only, but also in power, and in the holy Ghost, and in much certainty; as ye know what sort of persons we were among you for your sakes. ⁶ And ye became imitators of us and of the Lord, having received the word tho' in much affliction, yet with joy of the holy Ghost.

⁸ He therefore who rejecteth us, rejecteth not man, but God; who hath given us his holy Spirit.

⁵ not for works of righteousness which we had done, but according to his own mercy He saved us, by the washing of regeneration, and renewing of the holy Spirit;

⁷ Therefore, as the holy Ghost saith, "To-day if ye will hear his voice,

¹⁵ And of this the holy Ghost also beareth witness with us:

¹² to whom it was revealed, that it was not to themselves, but to us they ministered these things, which are now declared unto you by them that have preached the gospel unto you, through the holy Spirit sent down from heaven; which things the angels desire to look into.

²¹ for prophecy was not delivered of old at the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the holy Spirit.

²⁰ And ye have an unction from the holy One, and know all.

²⁰ But ye, beloved, edifying yourselves in your most holy faith, and praying in the holy Spirit, keep yourselves in the love of God,

¹¹ Let him, that hath an ear, hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches. He, that overcometh, shall not be hurt by the second death.

²⁶ Be not therefore afraid of them; for there is nothing hid, that shall not be revealed; nor secret, that shall not be made known.

⁷⁹ to enlighten them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace."

¹⁴ praising God, and saying, Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good-will towards men.

⁵ But whatever house ye come into, first say, Peace be to this house:

⁴ Now I say unto you, my friends, Be not afraid of them, that can only kill the body, and after that have nothing more that they can do.

¹ Let not your heart be troubled: believe in God, believe also in me.

¹⁹ Now the same day at evening, being the first day of the week, and the doors where the disciples were being shut, for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood in the midst, and saith unto them, Peace be to you.

²¹ Then said Jesus unto them again, Peace be to you. As my Father sent me, even so send I you.

²⁶ And after eight days his disciples were again within, and Thomas with them: and Jesus came (the doors being shut as before) and stood in the midst, and said, Peace be to you.

³⁶ According to the declaration which He made to the children of Israel, preaching peace by Jesus Christ, who is Lord of all.

⁹ And the Lord said to Paul by a vision in the night, "Fear not, but speak: and be not silent:

⁷ to all that are in Rome beloved of God, called and holy: grace be to you, and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹ Therefore being justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ:

⁶ Now to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace:

³ grace and peace be to you from God our Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁸ But all these things are from God, who hath reconciled us to Himself by Jesus Christ, and made us ministers of the reconciliation; ¹⁹ to declare, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing to them their trespasses, and hath committed unto us the word of reconciliation. ²⁰ We are therefore ambassadors for Christ, and as God exhorteth you by us, we intreat you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God. ²¹ For He hath made Him, who knew no sin, to be a sin-offering for us, that in Him we might be made righteous before God.

³ grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ,

¹⁶ And as many as shall walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be on them, even upon all the Israel of God.

¹⁴ For He is our peace, who hath made both one, and removed the wall of partition from between us; ¹⁵ having abolished in his flesh the enmity, even the law of commandments contained in ordinances, that He might form the two into one new man, in Himself, so making peace; ¹⁶ and that He might reconcile both in one body unto God, by the cross, having thereby slain the enmity: ¹⁷ and He came and preached peace to you that were afar off, and to them that were nigh.

⁷ And the peace of God, which surpasseth all understanding, shall guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.

² and Timothy our brother, to the holy and faithful brethren in Christ at Colosse: grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

²⁰ and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace by the blood of his cross; by Him only, whether they be things on earth, or things in heaven.

¹⁵ And let the peace of God preside in your hearts, to which ye are also called as united in one body: and be thankful for it.

² grace be to you and peace from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.

¹⁶ Now the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in all places. The Lord be with you all.

⁷ For God hath not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but of vigor, and of love, and of prudence.

² and blessed him, to whom also Abraham divided the tenth of all his spoils; being in the first place, by interpretation of his name, king of righteousness, and moreover king of Salem, which is king of peace;

²⁰ Now the God of peace, who brought again from the dead our Lord Jesus, the great shepherd of the sheep, by the blood of the everlasting covenant,

⁴ John to the seven churches in Asia---Grace and peace be to you, from Him who is, and who was, and who is to come; and from the seven Spirits which are before his throne;

¹⁰ Fear none of the things which thou wilt suffer: behold the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall suffer affliction ten days. Be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life.

⁸ But the fearful, and faithless, and abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars shall have their part in the lake that burneth with fire and brimstone; which is the second death.

¹⁸ my beloved in whom my soul is well pleased: I will put my spirit upon Him, and He shall declare judgement to the nations: He shall not contend,

⁵¹ And while He was blessing them, He was parted from them, and was carried up into heaven. ⁵² And they worshipped Him, and returned to Jerusalem with great joy. ⁵³ And they were constantly in the temple, praising and blessing God. Amen.

¹⁸ For this therefore the Jews sought the more to kill Him, because He had not only broken the sabbath, but had also called God his own Father, making Himself equal with God.

²⁹ My Father who gave them to me, is greater than all: and therefore none is able to force them out of my Father's hand. ³⁰ I and the Father are one. Then the Jews again took up stones to stone Him.

¹⁶ Verily, verily I say unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord, nor is the messenger greater than he that sent him.

² In my Father's house there are many mansions; if not, I would have told you. I am going to prepare a place for you. ³ And as I go to prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you to myself, that where I am, ye may also be. ⁴ And ye know where I am going, and ye know the way.

¹² Verily, verily I say unto you, he that believeth on me, the works that I perform he also shall perform, and greater than these shall he do: because I am going to the Father.

¹⁶ A little while and ye shall not see me: and again a little while and ye shall see me, because I am going to the Father. ¹⁷ Some of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is the meaning of this that He saith to us, A little while and ye shall not see me, and again a little while and ye shall see me, and---because I am going to the Father? ¹⁸ they said therefore, What is this little while that He speaks of? we do not understand what He means. ¹⁹ Now Jesus knew that they wanted to ask Him, and therefore said unto them, Are ye enquiring among each other about this, that I said, A little while and ye shall not see me, and again a little while and ye shall see me? ²⁰ Verily I tell you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ²¹ A woman when she is in labor, hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she is delivered of the child, she thinks no more of the anguish, for joy, that a man is born into the world. ²² And ye therefore now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy shall no one take from you.

¹⁷ Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not now; for I am not yet ascended to my Father; but go directly to my brethren, and tell them, "I am to ascend to my Father and your Father, and to my God and your God."

³ But I would have you know that Christ is the head of every man; and the head of the woman is the man; and the head of Christ is God.

²⁴ Then will be the end, when He shall have delivered up the kingdom to God even the Father; when He shall have abolished all rule, and all authority, and power. ²⁵ For he must reign till He hath put all his enemies under his feet. ²⁶ The last enemy that is destroyed is death: ²⁷ for He hath put all things under his feet. But when He saith that all things are put under Him, it is plain that we are to except Him who put all things under Him. ²⁸ And when all things shall be subjected to Him, then shall the Son also himself be subject to Him, that put all things under Him, that God may be all in all.

⁶ who being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be as God. ⁷ Yet He emptied himself, assuming the form of a servant, when made in the likeness of men: ⁸ and being in the human state, He humbled himself, and was obedient even unto death, and that the death of the cross.

² whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds. ³ Who being the refulgence of his glory and the imprest image of his person, and sustaining all things by his powerful word, having by Himself performed the purging away of our sins, sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high.

⁹ But we see Jesus, who was made for a little while lower than the angels, in order to suffer death, that by the grace of God He might taste death for every man, crowned with glory and honor. ¹⁰ For it became Him for whom are all things, and by whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to make the author of their salvation perfect by sufferings: ¹¹ since He that sanctifieth, and they that are sanctified, are all of one. For which cause He is not ashamed to call them brethren, ¹² saying, "I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the congregation will I praise Thee." ¹³ And again, "I will trust in Him:" and again, "Behold, I, and the children which God hath given me." ¹⁴ Seeing then the children are partakers of flesh and blood, He also himself in like manner partook of them; that by death He might destroy him that had the empire of death, that is, the devil: ¹⁵ and deliver those who through fear of death were all their life-time subject to bondage.

¹ Wherefore, holy brethren, partakers of the heavenly calling, consider the apostle and high-priest of our profession, Christ Jesus; ² who was faithful to Him that appointed Him, as Moses also was in all his house. ³ For He was accounted worthy of more honor than Moses, as he who hath built it, hath more honor than the house. ⁴ For every house is built by some one: and He who built all things is God.

¹¹ saying, I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last; and, What thou seest write in a book, and send it to the seven churches in Asia, to Ephesus, and to Smyrna, and to Pergamos, and to Thyatira, and to Sardis, and to Philadelphia, and to Laodicea.

¹⁷ And when I saw Him, I fell at his feet as dead; and He laid his right hand upon me, and said to me, "Fear not, ¹⁸ I am the first and the last, who live, though I was dead; and behold, I am alive for ever and ever, Amen, and have the keys of hades and of death.

²⁴ for there shall rise up false Christs, and false prophets, who shall shew great signs and prodigies, so as to deceive, if possible, even the elect. ²⁵ Lo, I have told you before-hand: and therefore if they say to you,

⁴ But I have told you these things, that when the time cometh, ye may remember that I told you of them. Though I did not tell you of them at the beginning, because I was with you. ⁵ But now I am going away to Him that sent me, and yet none of you asketh me, Whither art thou going? but because I have said these things to you, ⁶ sorrow hath filled your heart. ⁷ Nevertheless I tell you the truth, it is expedient for you that I should go away; for if I go not away, the comforter will not come unto you; but if I depart, I will send Him unto you. ⁸ And when He comes, He will convince the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgement: ⁹ of sin, because they believe not on me; ¹⁰ of righteousness, because I am going to my Father and ye shall see me no more; ¹¹ and of judgement, because the prince of this world is judged. ¹² I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now. ¹³ But when the Spirit of truth is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He will not speak of Himself; but whatsoever He shall hear, that will He speak, and will shew you things to come. ¹⁴ He shall glorify me, for He shall take of mine and shew it unto you. ¹⁵ All that the Father hath are mine: therefore I said, that He shall take of mine and shew it unto you. ¹⁶ A little while and ye shall not see me: and again a little while and ye shall see me, because I am going to the Father. ¹⁷ Some of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is the meaning of this that He saith to us, A little while and ye shall not see me, and again a little while and ye shall see me, and---because I am going to the Father? ¹⁸ they said therefore, What is this little while that He speaks of? we do not understand what He means. ¹⁹ Now Jesus knew that they wanted to ask Him, and therefore said unto them, Are ye enquiring among each other about this, that I said, A little while and ye shall not see me, and again a little while and ye shall see me? ²⁰ Verily I tell you, that ye shall weep and lament, but the world shall rejoice: and ye shall be sorrowful, but your sorrow shall be turned into joy. ²¹ A woman when she is in labor, hath sorrow, because her hour is come; but when she is delivered of the child, she thinks no more of the anguish, for joy, that a man is born into the world. ²² And ye therefore now have sorrow; but I will see you again, and your heart shall rejoice, and your joy shall no one take from you. ²³ And in that day ye shall ask me nothing: but I assure you, that whatsoever ye shall ask of the Father in my name, He will give it you. ²⁴ Hitherto ye have asked for nothing in my name: ask and ye shall receive, that your joy may be full. ²⁵ These things have I spoken to you in parables: but the time is coming when I shall no more speak to you in parables, but tell you with plainness concerning the Father. ²⁶ In that day ye shall ask in my name; and I do not say that I will ask the Father on your behalf. ²⁷ For the Father himself loveth you; because ye have loved me, and have believed that I came from God: and I indeed came from the Father, ²⁸ and am come into the world: but now I am leaving the world again, and am going to the Father. ²⁹ His disciples said unto Him, Now indeed Thou speakest plainly, and usest no parable. ³⁰ Now we are convinced that Thou knowest all things, and hast no need that any one should ask Thee: by this we believe that Thou camest forth from God. ³¹ Jesus answered them, Do ye now believe?

⁵³ When I was day after day with you in the temple, ye did not stretch out your hands against me: but this is your hour, and the power of darkness.

⁴⁴ And He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all the things must be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and Psalms, concerning me. ⁴⁵ Then He opened their mind, to understand the scriptures: ⁴⁶ and said unto them, thus it is written, and thus it was necessary that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead on the third day; ⁴⁷ and that in his name should be preached repentance and remission of sins to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem. ⁴⁸ And ye are witnesses of these things: and I will send upon you the promise of my Father; ⁴⁹ but do ye continue in the city of Jerusalem, till ye are endued with power from on high.

³¹ Now is the judgement of this world: now shall the prince of this world be cast out.

¹¹ and of judgement, because the prince of this world is judged. ¹² I have yet many things to say to you, but ye cannot bear them now.

³ to whom also He presented Himself alive, after He had suffered, by many certain proofs; being seen among them for forty days, and speaking of the things relating to the kingdom of God.

⁴ among whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of the unbelieving, so that the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, doth not shine unto them:

²¹ For He hath made Him, who knew no sin, to be a sin-offering for us, that in Him we might be made righteous before God.

² in which ye formerly walked after the manner of this world, according to the prince of the power of the air, the spirit that still operates in the children of disobedience:

¹² For our conflict is not with flesh and blood only, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the world and of the darkness of this age, against wicked spirits in heavenly places.

¹³ who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath transferred us into the kingdom of his beloved Son:

²⁶ For such an high-priest was meet for us, who was holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and higher than the heavens;

¹⁹ but with the precious blood of Christ as of a lamb without blemish and without spot:

²² Who did no sin, neither was guile found in his mouth:

⁵ And ye know that He was manifested, to take away our sins: and in Him there is no sin. ⁶ Whosoever abideth in Him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen Him, nor known Him. ⁷ Little children, let no one deceive you: he that practiseth righteousness is righteous, even as He is righteous: ⁸ he, that makes a practise of sin, is of the devil; for the devil sinneth from the beginning. And for this the Son of God was manifested, that He might destroy the works of the devil.

¹⁹ We know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth under the wicked one.

⁹ And the great dragon was cast out, that old serpent, called the devil and Satan, who deceiveth the whole world: he was cast down to the earth, and his angels were cast down with him.

² And he seized the dragon, that old serpent, who is the devil and satan, and bound him a thousand years, ³ and cast him into the bottomless pit, and shut him up, and set a seal upon him, that he might deceive the nations no more, till the thousand years be finished: and then he must be loosed for a little time.

⁷ And when the thousand years are ended, ⁸ Satan shall be loosed from his confinement, and shall go forth to deceive the nations, that are in the four corners of the earth, Gog and Magog, to gather them together to war, whose number is as the sand of the sea.

³⁹ And going a little farther, He prostrated himself, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass from me; nevertheless, not as I will, but as thou wilt.

⁴⁶ Rise, let us go, see the traitor is at hand.

⁵⁰ for I have a baptism to be baptized with, and how I am straitened till it be accomplished?

³⁴ Jesus saith unto them, My food is to do the will of Him that sent me, and to finish his work.

¹⁸ None taketh it from me, but I lay it down of myself: I have power to lay it down, and I have power to take it again. This commandment I have received from my Father.

⁹ As the Father hath loved me, and I have loved you, continue in my love:

¹ When Jesus had spoken these words, He went out with his disciples over the brook Kedron; where there was a garden, into which He entred, and his disciples. Now Judas who was gone to betray Him, ² knew the place: for Jesus often met there together with his disciples: Judas therefore having got a band of soldiers, ³ and officers from the chief priests and pharisees, cometh thither with candles, and lamps, and arms. ⁴ Upon which Jesus, who knew all that was coming upon Him, went forth and said unto them, Whom do ye seek? They answered Him, Jesus the Nazarene.

¹¹ But Jesus said to Peter, Put up thy sword into the sheath: the cup which my Father hath given me, shall I not drink it?

⁸ and being in the human state, He humbled himself, and was obedient even unto death, and that the death of the cross.

⁷ Who in the days of his flesh, offered prayers and supplications with strong crying and tears, to Him that was able to save Him from death, and was heard in what He feared; ⁸ but though He was a Son, yet He learned obedience by the things which He suffered: and being thus perfected,

⁵ Wherefore upon his coming into the world He saith, "Sacrifice and offering thou didst not desire, but a body hast thou prepared me: ⁶ in whole burnt-offerings and sacrifices for sin thou hadst no pleasure: ⁷ then said I, Lo I come, as in the volume of the book it is written of me, to do thy will, O God." ⁸ Having said before, "Thou didst not desire, nor hadst pleasure in, sacrifice and offering, and whole burnt-offerings, and sacrifices for sin," (which are offered by the law) then He adds, ⁹ "Lo I come to do thy will, O God." (He taketh away the first, that He may establish the second.)

² looking unto Jesus the leader and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. ³ Wherefore consider Him who endured such contradiction of sinners against Himself, that ye may not give out, fainting in your minds:
