Luke Cross References - Worsley

1 Whereas many have undertaken to compose a narrative of the things, which have been fully certified among us; 2 as they delivered them to us, who were from the beginning eye-witnesses of them, and ministers of the word; 3 it seemed good to me also, having thoroughly traced them all from the very first, to write an account of them in order to thee, 4 most excellent Theophilus, that thou mayst know the certainty of the things wherein thou hast been instructed. 5 There was in the days of Herod king of Judea, a certain priest named Zacharias, of the course of Abia; and his wife was of the family of Aaron, and her name was Elisabeth. 6 And they were both righteous in the sight of God, walking in all the commandments and ordinances of the Lord blameless. 7 And they had no child, for Elisabeth was barren; and they were both far advanced in years. 8 And it came to pass, while he was in the order of his course performing the priest's office before God, 9 according to the custom of dividing the office of the priests, that it fell to his lot to burn incense, entring into the temple of the Lord: 10 and all the people were praying without at the time of offering incense. 11 And there appeared to him an angel of the Lord standing on the right hand of the altar of incense. 12 And when Zacharias saw him, he was startled and struck with fear: 13 but the angel said unto him, Fear not, Zacharias; for thy prayer is heard, and thy wife Elisabeth shall bear thee a son, and thou shalt call his name John: 14 and he shall be a joy and transport to thee, yea, many shall rejoice on account of his birth; for he shall be great in the sight of the Lord, 15 and he shall drink neither wine nor any other strong liquor; and he shall be filled with the holy Spirit even from his birth; 16 and many of the children of Israel shall he convert unto the Lord their God. 17 And he shall go before Him in the spirit and power of Elias, to turn the hearts of the fathers unto the children, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just, to prepare for the Lord a people well-disposed. 18 And Zacharias said unto the angel, Whereby shall I know this? for I am an old man, and my wife far advanced in years. 19 And the angel answering said to him, I am Gabriel, that stand in the presence of God, and I am sent to speak to thee, and to tell thee this good news: 20 and now shalt thou be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall come to pass; because thou believedst not my words, which shall be fulfilled at their season. 21 And the people were waiting for Zacharias, and wondered at his staying so long in the temple: 22 but when he came out he could not speak to them, and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple; and he made signs to them, and continued speechless: 23 and as soon as the days of his ministration were accomplished, he departed to his own house. 24 And after these days his wife Elisabeth conceived, and retired five months, 25 saying, the Lord hath thus dealt with me in the days wherein he looked upon me to take away my reproach among men. 26 But in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent by God to a city of Galilee called Nazareth, 27 to a virgin who was betrothed to a man, whose name was Joseph, of the house of David; and the name of the virgin was Mary. 28 And when the angel came in to the room to her, he said, Hail, thou that art highly favoured; the Lord is with thee; 29 blessed art thou among women! and when she saw him, she was confused at what he said, and pondered in her mind what sort of salutation this could be. 30 And the angel said unto her, Fear not, Mary; for thou hast found favor with God: 31 and behold thou shalt conceive in thy womb, and shalt bring forth a son, and shalt call his name JESUS: 32 He shall be great, and shall be called the Son of the Most High, and the Lord God shall give Him the throne of David his father, 33 and He shall reign over the house of Jacob for ever, and of his kingdom there shall be no end. 34 Then said Mary to the angel, How can this be, since I am a virgin? 35 And the angel answered and said unto her, The holy Spirit shall come upon thee, and the power of the Most High shall overshadow thee, and therefore thine holy offspring shall be called the Son of God: and lo, 36 thy cousin Elisabeth also hath conceived a son in her old age, and this is the sixth month with her that was called barren; 37 for nothing is impossible with God. 38 Then Mary said, Behold the servant of the Lord, may it be unto me according to thy word. So the angel departed from her. 39 Then Mary arose and went with speed into the hill-country, to a city of Juda, 40 and came into the house of Zacharias, and saluted Elisabeth. 41 And as soon as Elisabeth heard the salutation of Mary, the child leaped in her womb, and Elisabeth was filled with the holy Spirit: 42 and she cried out with a loud voice, and said, Blessed art thou among women, and blessed is the fruit of thy womb: 43 and whence is this honor to me, that the mother of my Lord should come to me? 44 for behold, as soon as the voice of thy salutation reached my ears, the child in my womb leaped for joy: 45 and blessed is she that believed; for there shall be a performance of the things that were told her from the Lord. 46 And Mary said, "My soul doth magnify the Lord, and my spirit hath rejoiced in God my Saviour; 47 for He hath regarded the low estate of his handmaid: 48 for behold, from henceforth shall all generations call me blessed: 49 for He that is mighty hath done great things for me, 50 and his name is holy, and his mercy is on them that fear Him, unto all generations. 51 He hath wrought powerfully with his arm; He hath confounded those that were proud in the imagination of their heart. 52 He hath cast down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the humble. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things, and the rich He hath sent away empty. 54 He hath supported Israel his servant, 55 in remembrance of his mercy (even as He promised to our fathers, to Abraham and to his seed,) for ever." 56 And Mary stayed with her about three months, and then returned to her own house. 57 Now when Elisabeth's time for her delivery was fully come, she brought forth a son: 58 and her neighbours and kindred heard that the Lord had magnified his mercy towards her, and they congratulated her; 59 and on the eighth day they came to circumcise the child: and they would have called him Zacharias, after the name of his father: 60 but his mother said, No, but he shall be called John: 61 and they said to her, There is none of thy relations of this name. 62 And they made signs to his father, what name he would have him called by. 63 And he called for a writing-tablet, and wrote upon it, His name is John: and they all wondered. 64 And his mouth was opened immediately, and his tongue loosed, and he spake and praised God. 65 And an awe fell upon all that dwelt round about them; and all these things were divulged through the whole hill-country of Judea. 66 And all that heard them, laid them up in their hearts, saying, What a child will this be? And the hand of the Lord was with him. 67 And his father Zacharias was filled with the holy Spirit, 68 and prophesied, saying, "Blessed be the Lord God of Israel, for He hath visited and wrought redemption for his people, 69 and hath raised up an horn of salvation for us, 70 in the house of his servant David, as He spake by the mouth of his holy prophets from the beginning, 71 even salvation from our enemies, and from the hand of all that hate us, 72 to display his mercy towards our fathers, and to remember his holy covenant, 73 according to the oath which He sware to Abraham our father, 74 to grant unto us, that we being delivered out of the hand of our enemies, might serve Him without fear, in holiness and righteousness before Him, 75 all the days of our life. 76 And thou, my child, shalt be called the prophet of the most High; for thou shalt go before the face of the Lord, 77 to make known salvation to his people, 78 in the remission of their sins, through the tender mercy of our God, whereby the day-spring hath visited us from on high, 79 to enlighten them that sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, to direct our feet into the way of peace." 80 And the child grew, and became strong in spirit: and he was in the deserts till the time of his being manifested to Israel.

3 and he went into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance in order to the remission of sins; 4 as it is written in the book of Esaias the prophet, saying, "The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight: 5 every valley shall be raised, and every mountain and hill shall be lowered, and the crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth: 6 and all men shall see the salvation of God."

Luke 3:6

6 and all men shall see the salvation of God." 7 Therefore said he to the multitudes that came to be baptised by him, O generation of vipers, who hath warned you to flee from the wrath to come? 8 Bring forth therefore fruits becoming penitents, and do not say within yourselves, "We have Abraham for our father," for I tell you that God can of these stones raise up children to Abraham. 9 And now the ax is laid to the root of the trees: every tree therefore which doth not yield good fruit, is cut down and cast into the fire. 10 And the people asked him, saying, What shall we do then? 11 And he saith unto them, Let him that hath two coats, give one to him that hath none, and let him that hath food do the like. 12 And there came publicans to be baptized, and said unto him, Master, what shall we do? 13 And He said unto them, Exact no more than what is appointed you. 14 And the soldiers also asked him, saying, And what shall we do? and He said unto them, Do violence to no man, neither accuse any falsely, and be content with your pay.

Luke 3:16

16 John answered and said to them all, I indeed baptize you with water; but a mightier than I is coming, whose shoes I am not worthy to untie: He will baptize you with the holy Spirit, and with fire;

Luke 4:1

1 Now Jesus being full of the holy Spirit, returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness, being forty days tempted by the devil;

Luke 7:28-28

28 for I tell you that among the sons of men there is not a greater prophet than John the baptist: (though the least in the kingdom of God is greater than he:)

Luke 7:33

33 for John the baptist came neither eating bread, nor drinking wine, and ye say, he hath a demon:

Luke 7:47-50

47 Wherefore, I tell thee, her sins though many are forgiven, for she loved much: but he to whom little is forgiven, loveth but little. 48 And He said unto her, Thy sins are forgiven. 49 And they that sat at table with Him, said within themselves, Who is this that forgiveth sins also? 50 But He said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee, go in peace.

16 And He spake a parable to them, saying, The ground of a certain rich man brought forth plentifully: 17 and he reasoned within himself, saying, What shall I do? for I have not room to lay up my corn. 18 And he said, This I will do: I will pull down my barns, and build larger ones; and there I will bestow all my products and my goods. 19 And I will say to my soul, Soul, thou hast plenty of goods laid up for many years, take thine ease, eat, drink, and be merry. 20 But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night shall thy soul be required of thee; then whose shall those things be which thou hast provided? 21 So is he that heapeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich towards God.

19 Now there was a certain rich man, who was clothed in purple and fine linen, living voluptuously and splendidly every day. 20 And there was a poor man named Lazarus, 21 who was laid at his gate full of sores, and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man's table: and the dogs came and licked his sores. And it came to pass that the poor man died, 22 and was carried by angels to Abraham's bosom: the rich man also died, and was buried. 23 And in hell he lifted up his eyes, being in torments, and seeth Abraham from afar, and Lazarus in his bosom. 24 And he cried out and said, Father Abraham, have pity on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue; for I am tormented in this flame. 25 And Abraham said, Son, remember that thou receivedst thy good things in thy life-time, and likewise Lazarus his evils: but now he is comforted, and thou art tormented.

Luke 18:11-14

11 The pharisee standing by himself prayed thus, O God, I thank thee that I am not as other men are, rapacious, unjust, adulterous, or even as this publican. 12 I fast twice a week, and I give tithes of all that I possess. 13 But the publican standing at a distance did not presume so much as to lift up his eyes to heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, O God, be merciful to me a sinner. 14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for whoever exalteth himself shall be abased, but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

Luke 18:14-14

14 I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for whoever exalteth himself shall be abased, but he that humbleth himself shall be exalted.

26 Was not the Messiah to suffer these things, and so to enter into his glory? 27 And beginning from Moses, and all the prophets, He explained to them in all the scriptures the things that were spoken concerning Himself.

Luke 24:36-40

36 And as they were thus speaking, Jesus himself stood in the midst of them, and saith unto them, Peace be to you. 37 But they being terrified and frighted, thought they saw a spirit. 38 And He said to them, Why are ye troubled? and why do such thoughts rise in your hearts? 39 Behold my hands and my feet, that it is I myself: handle me and see; for a spirit hath not flesh and bones, as ye see me have. 40 And when He said this, He shewed them his hands and feet.

7 this man came for witness, that he might testify concerning the light, that through him all might believe. 8 He was not that light, but was sent to bear witness of the light. 9 The true light was that which enlightneth every man that cometh into the world.

9 The true light was that which enlightneth every man that cometh into the world.

John 1:13

13 who were born not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God.

John 1:15-17

15 Of Him did John bare witness, and publicly declared, saying, This was He of whom I spake, He that cometh after me is preferred before me; for He was before me. 16 And of his fulness have we all received, even grace for grace. 17 For the law was given by Moses, but grace and truth came by Jesus Christ:

John 1:21-30

21 And they asked him, What then? art thou Elias? And he said, I am not. Art thou a prophet? and he answered, No. 22 Therefore said they unto him, Who art thou? that we may give an answer to them that sent us: What dost thou say of thy self? 23 and he said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, "Make straight the way of the Lord," according to Esaias the prophet.

John 1:23

23 and he said, I am the voice of one crying in the wilderness, "Make straight the way of the Lord," according to Esaias the prophet. 24 Now they that were sent, were of the pharisees: 25 and they asked him, and said to him, Why then dost thou baptize, if thou art not the Christ, nor Elias, nor a prophet? 26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not; 27 that cometh after me, but is preferred before me, the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to unloose.

John 1:27

27 that cometh after me, but is preferred before me, the latchet of whose shoe I am not worthy to unloose. 28 These things passed at Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing. 29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming towards him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world.

John 1:29

29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming towards him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God that taketh away the sin of the world. 30 This is He of whom I said, After me cometh a man, who is preferred before me: for He was before me. 31 And I knew Him not: but therefore came I baptizing with water, that He might be made known to Israel.

34 And I saw it, and therefore testified that this is the Son of God.

John 3:27-36

27 John answered and said, A man can take nothing upon him, unless it be given him from heaven. 28 Ye your selves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but am sent before Him.

John 3:28-36

28 Ye your selves bear me witness, that I said, I am not the Christ, but am sent before Him. 29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, who standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth with great joy at the bridegroom's voice. Therefore my joy is complete. 30 He must increase, but I must decrease. 31 He, that cometh from above, is above all: he that is of the earth, is earthly, and talketh like one of the earth: 32 but He that cometh from heaven, is above all: and what He hath seen and heard, this He testifieth: and yet scarce any one receiveth his testimony. 33 He that hath received his testimony, hath set his seal to this, that God is true: 34 for He, whom God hath sent, speaketh the words of God: for God giveth the Spirit to Him not by measure. 35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all into his hand: 36 wherefore he that believeth on the Son, hath eternal life; and he that obeyeth not the Son, shall not see life, but the wrath of God abideth on him.

John 5:21-29

21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead and giveth life: even so the Son maketh alive whom He pleaseth. 22 For neither doth the Father judge any one, but hath committed all judgement to the Son; 23 that all men may honour the Son, even as they honour the Father: he, that honoureth not the Son, honoureth not the Father that sent Him. 24 Verily, verily I say unto you, he, that heareth my word, and believeth in Him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come under condemnation; but is passed from death to life. 25 Verily, verily I tell you, that the time is coming, and even now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God, and they that hear shall live. 26 For as the Father hath life in Himself, so hath He given also to the Son to have life in Himself. 27 And hath given Him authority also to execute judgement, because He is the Son of man. 28 Wonder not at this; for the time is coming, in which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice, 29 and shall come forth, they that have done good to the resurrection of life, and they that have done evil to the resurrection of damnation.

11 And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks, He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were sat down; and of the fishes likewise, as much as they would take. 12 And when they were filled, He saith to his disciples, Gather up the fragments that are left, that nothing may be lost. 13 They therefore gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley-loaves, which remained after they had eaten.

5 and then pouring water into a bason, began to wash the feet of his disciples, and to wipe them with the towel wherewith He was girded. 6 He cometh therefore to Simon Peter among the rest, who saith unto Him, Lord, dost thou wash my feet? 7 Jesus answered and said unto him, What I do thou dost not now understand, but thou shalt know hereafter. 8 Peter saith to Him, Thou shalt never wash my feet. 21 so that they are inexcusable; because having thus known God they glorified Him not as God, neither were they thankful; but were infatuated by their own reasonings, and their heart being void of understanding was darkened.

Romans 2:18

18 and knowest his will, and approvest things that are excellent, being instructed out of the law,

Romans 3:3

3 For what if some did not believe? shall their incredulity make the faithfulness of God of no effect?

Romans 3:9-25

9 "What then are we the better?" Not at all, in point of justification; for we have before proved that both Jews and Gentiles are all under sin: as it is written, 10 "There is none righteous, no not one; 11 there is none that understandeth; there is none that seeketh after God. 12 They are all gone out of the way, they are become unprofitable, there is none that practiseth goodness, no not one. 13 Their throat is an open sepulchre: with their tongues they have used deceit; the poison of asps is under their lips: 14 whose mouth is full of cursing and bitterness: 15 their feet are swift to shed blood: 16 destruction and misery are in their ways: 17 and the way of peace they have not known; and the fear of God is not before their eyes."

Romans 3:17

17 and the way of peace they have not known; and the fear of God is not before their eyes." 18 Now we know that whatsoever the law saith, 19 it saith to those under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world obnoxious to the justice of God. 20 Wherefore by the works of the law no flesh shall be justified before Him: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. 21 But now, without the law, righteousness before God is manifested, being attested by the law and the prophets; 22 and this righteousness of God is by faith in Jesus Christ unto all and upon all believers; for there is no difference; 23 for all have sinned and come short of the glory of God; 24 being justified freely by his grace, because of the redemption that is in Christ Jesus: 25 whom God hath appointed to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, in the remission of past sins, according to the forbearance of God;

Romans 3:25

25 whom God hath appointed to be a propitiation, through faith in his blood, for a demonstration of his righteousness, in the remission of past sins, according to the forbearance of God;

Romans 4:6-8

6 As David also describeth the blessedness of the man to whom: God imputeth righteousness without works, saying, 7 "Blessed are they whose iniquities are forgiven, and whose sins are covered: 8 blessed is the man to whom the Lord imputeth not sin."

Romans 4:19

19 And not being weak in faith, he considered not his own body now dead, being about an hundred years old; nor the deadness of Sarah's womb. 20 He hesitated not at the promise of God through unbelief: but was strong in faith, giving glory to God, 21 and being fully persuaded, that what was promised He was able to perform:

Romans 5:11

11 And not only so, but we also boast in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, by whom we have now received reconciliation.

Romans 6:22

22 But now being set free from sin, and become servants to God, ye have your fruit unto holiness, and the end everlasting life.

Romans 8:15

15 For ye have not received the spirit of bondage again to fear; but ye have received the spirit of adoption, whereby we cry, Abba, Father.

Romans 8:31

31 What shall we say then to these things? if God be for us, who can be against us?

Romans 9:5

5 whose are the fathers, and of whom, as to the flesh, Christ came, who is over all God blessed for ever. Amen. 6 Not that the word of God hath failed. For they are not all Israel, who are descended from Israel.

Romans 9:23

23 and that He might make known the riches of his glory in the vessels of mercy, which He hath prepared for glory?

Romans 11:28-29

28 As to the gospel indeed they are enemies on your account, but as to the election they are beloved on account of the fathers.

Romans 11:28

28 As to the gospel indeed they are enemies on your account, but as to the election they are beloved on account of the fathers. 29 For the gifts and calling of God are without repentance.

Romans 12:15

15 Rejoice with those that rejoice, and weep with those that weep.

Romans 15:16

16 that I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, administring the gospel of God, that the offering of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the holy Spirit.

1 Corinthians 1:26-28

26 For ye see by your calling, brethren, that not many wise men according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called:

1 Corinthians 1:26

26 For ye see by your calling, brethren, that not many wise men according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble are called: 27 but God hath chosen things that are foolish in the eye of the world to put it's wise men to confusion; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the mighty; 28 and things in the opinion of the world ignoble, and despicable, and accounted as nothing, hath God chosen, to abolish things that are in esteem among men;

1 Corinthians 1:31

31 that, as it is written, He that glorieth may glory in the Lord.

1 Corinthians 4:1

1 Let a man so account of us, as the ministers of Christ, and stewards of the mysteries of God.

1 Corinthians 4:8

8 Ye are now full, ye are now rich, ye have reigned as kings without us: and I wish ye did reign, that we also might reign with you.

1 Corinthians 6:9-11

9 What! know ye not that the unjust shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor the effeminate, nor sodomites, 10 nor thieves, nor the covetous, nor drunkards, nor revilers, nor rapacious persons, shall inherit the kingdom of God. 11 And such were some of you: but ye are washed, but ye are sanctified, but ye are justified in the name of the Lord Jesus, and by the spirit of our God.

1 Corinthians 7:40

40 but she is happier, in my opinion, if she continue as she is: and I think I have the Spirit of God.

1 Corinthians 11:2

2 Now I commend you, brethren, that ye remember me in all things, and keep the ordinances, as I delivered them to you.

1 Corinthians 14:19

19 But in a public assembly I had rather speak five words to be understood, that I may instruct others also, than ten thousand words in an unknown tongue.

1 Corinthians 15:24-25

24 Then will be the end, when He shall have delivered up the kingdom to God even the Father; when He shall have abolished all rule, and all authority, and power. 25 For he must reign till He hath put all his enemies under his feet.

Galatians 2:20

20 I am crucified with Christ; yet I live, though no longer I, but Christ liveth in me: and the life which I now live in the flesh, I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me, and gave up himself for me.

Galatians 3:15-17

15 Brethren, (I speak after the manner of men,) no one cancelleth or addeth to a covenant which hath been ratified, though it be but the covenant of a man. 16 Now the promises were made to Abraham, and to his seed. He doth not say, "and to seeds," as of many; but as of one, "and to thy seed," which is Christ. 17 This then I say, that the law, which was given four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul the covenant, which was so long before confirmed by God unto Christ, to make void the promise.

Galatians 3:29

29 And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.

16 And as many as shall walk according to this rule, peace and mercy be on them, even upon all the Israel of God.

Ephesians 1:3

6 to the praise of his glorious grace, whereby He hath made us acceptable in the Beloved: 7 in whom we have redemption through his blood, even the remission of sins, according to the riches of his grace;

Ephesians 1:20-23

20 which He exerted in Christ, when He raised Him from the dead, and set Him at his own right hand in heavenly places, 21 far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come: 22 and hath put all things under his feet, and given Him to be head over all things to the church; 23 which is his body, the complete work of Him, who filleth all in all.

Ephesians 2:3

3 among whom also we were all conversant heretofore in our carnal desires, indulging the appetites of the flesh and of our imaginations; and were by nature children of wrath, even as others. 4 But God being rich in mercy, through his great love wherewith He loved us, 5 hath made us alive in Christ, even when we were dead in trespasses, (for by grace ye are saved) and hath raised us up together,

1 If therefore there be any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any participation of the Spirit,

Philippians 2:3

3 Do nothing through strife or vain-glory, but in lowliness of mind each esteeming others better than themselves.

Philippians 2:9-11

9 Wherefore God hath highly exalted Him, and given Him a name above every name: 10 that in the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of celestial beings, as well as of those on earth, and of those under the earth; 11 and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Philippians 2:15

15 that ye may be blameless and inoffensive, the children of God without reproof, in the midst of a crooked and perverse generation; among whom ye shine as lights in the world,

Philippians 3:5

5 having been circumcised on the eighth day, of the race of Israel, of the tribe of Benjamin, an Hebrew of Hebrews, with respect to the law a pharisee, 6 as to zeal persecuting the church, as to the righteousness of the law blameless: but those things, 7 which were once gain to me, I counted loss for Christ. 8 Yea doubtless and I count all but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all, and I account them but dung, that I may gain Christ, and be found in Him,

Philippians 3:8

8 Yea doubtless and I count all but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all, and I account them but dung, that I may gain Christ, and be found in Him, 9 not having my own righteousness which is of the law, but that which is by the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: that I may know Him,

Philippians 3:21

21 that it may be made like his glorious body, according to the energy of his ability to subdue all things to Himself.

Philippians 4:4

4 Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, Rejoice.

Colossians 1:12

12 giving thanks unto the Father, who hath made us meet for a portion of the inheritance of the saints in light:

Colossians 1:22

22 yet now hath He reconciled in the body of his flesh, through death, to present you holy, and unblameable, and unreproveable in his sight: 23 if so be ye continue grounded and settled in the faith, and be not moved from the gospel, which ye have heard, and which hath been preached throughout the whole creation, of which I Paul am a minister. 24 Now I rejoice in my sufferings for you, and fill up what is behind of the afflictions of Christ in my flesh, for the sake of his body, which is the church. 25 Of which I was made a minister according to the dispensation of God, which is given me towards you, that I might fully declare the word of God:

Colossians 3:12

12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God holy and beloved, bowels of mercy, benignity, humbleness of mind, meekness, long-suffering; 13 that your hearts may be established unblameable in holiness, before God even our Father, at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, with all his saints.

16 And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifested in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen by angels, preached among the Gentiles, believed on in the world, and received up into glory.

7 For God hath not given us a spirit of fearfulness, but of vigor, and of love, and of prudence.

Titus 2:10

10 not answering frowardly, not purloining, but shewing all good fidelity; that they may adorn the doctrine of God our Saviour in all things. 11 For the grace of God, that bringeth salvation, hath appeared to all men; 12 teaching us that denying ungodliness, and worldly desires, we should live soberly, and righteously, and piously in this present world; 13 looking for the blessed hope, and glorious appearance of the great God, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ:

Titus 2:13

13 looking for the blessed hope, and glorious appearance of the great God, and our Saviour, Jesus Christ: 14 who gave Himself for us, that He might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify to Himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.

Hebrews 1:2-8

2 whom He hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also He made the worlds. 3 Who being the refulgence of his glory and the imprest image of his person, and sustaining all things by his powerful word, having by Himself performed the purging away of our sins, sat down at the right hand of the majesty on high. 4 Being as much superior to the angels, as He inheriteth a name more excellent than they. 5 For to which of the angels did He ever say, "Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee?" and again, "I will be to Him a Father, and He shall be to me a Son?" 6 and when He again introduceth the First-born into the world, he saith, "And let all the angels of God worship Him." 7 And as to the angels He saith, "Who maketh his angels spirits and his ministers a flame of fire:" 8 but to the Son, "Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever; the sceptre of thy kingdom is a sceptre of righteousness:

Hebrews 6:13

13 For when God made the promise to Abraham, because He could swear by no greater, He sware by Himself, saying, 14 "Verily blessing I will bless thee, and multiplying I will multiply thee." 15 And thus waiting patiently he obtained the promise. 16 For men swear by a greater Being, and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all controversy.

Hebrews 6:16-17

16 For men swear by a greater Being, and an oath for confirmation is to them an end of all controversy. 17 Wherefore God being willing more abundantly to manifest unto the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it with an oath:

Hebrews 6:17-17

17 Wherefore God being willing more abundantly to manifest unto the heirs of the promise the immutability of his counsel, confirmed it with an oath: 18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to fail, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us;

Hebrews 6:18-18

18 that by two immutable things, in which it is impossible for God to fail, we might have strong consolation, who have fled for refuge to lay hold on the hope set before us;

Hebrews 7:26-28

26 For such an high-priest was meet for us, who was holy, harmless, undefiled, separate from sinners, and higher than the heavens; 27 who hath no need, as the Levitical high-priests had, daily to offer sacrifices first for his own sins, and then for those of the people: for this He did once for all, in offering up Himself. 28 For the law appointeth men high-priests, who have infirmity; but the oath, recorded since the law, appointeth the Son to be priest for ever, being fully perfected for it.

Hebrews 9:6

6 Now these things being thus disposed, the priests always went into the first part of the tabernacle to perform their daily services:

9 Let the brother that is low rejoice in his exaltation: but the rich in his humiliation, 10 because as the flower of the grass he shall pass away.

James 2:5-6

5 Hear, my beloved brethren; hath not God chosen the poor of this world who are rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom, which He hath promised to them that love Him? but ye have slighted the poor. 6 Do not the rich tyrannize over you; and drag you to their tribunals?

James 4:10

10 Be humbled before the Lord, and He will exalt you.

James 5:1-6

1 Weep now, ye rich men, and howl for your miseries which are coming upon you. 2 Your riches are corrupted, and your garments are moth-eaten: 3 your gold and silver is cankered, and their rust shall be a witness against you, and shall eat your flesh like fire: ye have been treasuring them up for these last days. 4 Behold the hire of the laborers, that reaped your fields, of which they are defrauded by you, crieth out against you: and the complaints of the reapers are come into the ears of the Lord of hosts. 5 Ye have lived upon earth delicately and luxuriously; ye fattened your hearts as in a day of slaughter. 6 Ye have condemned, ye have murdered the just one, who resisted you not.

1 Peter 1:3

3 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to his abundant mercy hath regenerated us to a lively hope, by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,

4 by which are given unto us exceeding great and precious promises; that by these ye may become partakers of a divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. 5 And to this giving all diligence, add to your faith fortitude; 6 and to fortitude knowledge; and to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience piety; 7 and to piety brotherly affection; and to brotherly affection charity. 8 For if these be in you and abound, they will not suffer you to be idle, nor unfruitful in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

2 Peter 1:15-16

15 And I will endeavour that after my departure also ye may always be able to call these things to remembrance. 16 For we did not follow artfully devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; but were eye-witnesses of his majesty.

2 Peter 1:16

16 For we did not follow artfully devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; but were eye-witnesses of his majesty.

2 Peter 1:16-16

16 For we did not follow artfully devised fables, when we made known unto you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ; but were eye-witnesses of his majesty. 17 For He received from God the Father honor and glory when a voice came to Him from the magnificent glory, saying, "This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased." 18 And this voice, from heaven we heard, when we were with Him in the holy mount. 19 We have also the more sure word of the prophets, to which ye do well to attend, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, till the day dawn, and the morning-star rise in your hearts:

2 Peter 1:19

19 We have also the more sure word of the prophets, to which ye do well to attend, as to a lamp shining in a dark place, till the day dawn, and the morning-star rise in your hearts:

21 for prophecy was not delivered of old at the will of man, but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the holy Spirit.

2 Peter 3:11-14

11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness, 12 expecting and hastening on the coming of the day of God, whereby the heavens being set on fire shall be dissolved, and the burning elements shall be melted. 13 But we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwelleth. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing ye expect these things, give diligence to be found of Him in peace, spotless and blameless;

2 Peter 3:14-14

14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing ye expect these things, give diligence to be found of Him in peace, spotless and blameless;

1 John 1:1-3

1 That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have contemplated, and our very hands have felt concerning the Word of life, 2 (for this Life was manifested, and we saw it; and we testify and declare unto you that eternal Life, which was with the Father, 3 and was manifested unto us) what we have seen and heard we declare unto you, that ye also may have communion with us: and our communion is with the Father and with his Son Jesus Christ.

1 John 1:5-7

5 Now this we have heard from Him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in Him there is no darkness at all. 6 If we say that we have communion with Him, and walk in darkness, we lie and do not practise the truth: 7 but if we walk in the light, as He is in the light, we have communion with one another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.

1 John 2:3

3 And by this we know that we have known Him, if we keep his commandments.

1 John 2:28
