Luke 21 Cross References - Worsley

1 And He looked up and saw the rich people bringing their gifts to the treasury: 2 and He saw also a poor widow throwing in two mites. 3 And He said, Verily I tell you, this poor widow hath put in more than they all. 4 For all these have out of their abundance contributed to the offerings of God: but she out of her penury hath given all she had. 5 And as some were speaking of the temple; how it was adorned with beautiful stones and gifts, He said, As for these things which ye see, 6 the days will come, in which there shall not be left one stone upon another, that shall not be demolished. 7 And they asked Him, saying, Master, when shall these things be? And what will be the sign when these things shall come to pass? 8 And He said, Take heed that ye be not deceived; for many shall come in my name, saying, I am the Christ; and the time is near: but do not therefore go after them. 9 And when ye shall hear of wars and commotions, be not terrified: for these must first happen; but the end will not be directly. 10 Then said He unto them, Nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom; 11 and there will be great earthquakes in several places, and famines, and pestilences, and fearful sights and great prodigies from heaven. 12 But before all these things they will lay hands on you, and persecute you, delivering you up to synagogues, and prisons, being brought before kings and rulers for my name's sake: 13 but it shall be for a testimony to you. 14 Fix it therefore in your hearts not to premeditate a defence: for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, 15 which all your adversaries shall not be able to contradict nor withstand. 16 But ye shall be betrayed even by parents, and brethren, and kindred and friends; and some of you shall they cause to be put to death: 17 and ye will be hated by all men for my sake. 18 But not an hair of your head shall perish. 19 In your patience therefore possess your souls. 20 And when ye shall see Jerusalem surrounded with armies, then know that the desolation thereof is nigh: then let them that are in Judea flee to the mountains, 21 and those that are in the midst of it, depart; and let not them that are in the countries enter into it. 22 For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled. 23 But wo to them that are with child, and to them that give suck in those days; for there shall be great distress in the land, and wrath upon this people, 24 and they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and be led captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trampled down by the Gentiles, till the times of the Gentiles too shall be fulfilled. 25 And there shall be signs in the sun, and in the moon, and in the stars; and on the earth distress of nations in perplexity, the sea and the waves roring: 26 and men ready to die for fear and apprehension of the things that are coming upon the land; for the powers of heaven shall be shaken. 27 And then shall they see the Son of man coming, as on a cloud, with power and great glory. 28 But when these things begin to come to pass, look upwards and lift up your heads, for your redemption draweth nigh. 29 And He spake a parable to them, Behold the fig-tree, 30 and all the trees, when they shoot out, ye see and know of yourselves that summer is now near: 31 so likewise know ye, when ye see these things coming to pass, that the kingdom of God is at hand. 32 Verily I tell you, this generation shall not pass away till all be accomplished. 33 Heaven and earth shall pass away, but my words shall not pass away. 34 Take heed to yourselves, least at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting and drunkenness, and the cares of life, and so that day should come upon you unawares: 35 for as a snare shall it come upon all that dwell on the face of the whole earth. 36 Watch therefore and be constant in prayer, that ye may be counted worthy to escape all these things, which shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man. 37 Thus He was by day teaching in the temple; and at night He retired to the mount called the mount of Olives. 38 And all the people came early in the morning to Him in the temple to hear Him.

Mark 13:33

33 Take heed therefore, watch and pray; for ye know not when the time is: 34 as a man travelling abroad, who left his house, and gave charge to his servants, to each his work, and bid the porter be watchful. 35 Watch ye therefore; for ye know not when the master of the house cometh: (in the evening, or at midnight, or at the cock-crowing, or in the morning:) 36 least coming on a sudden he should find you sleeping. 37 And what I say to you, I say to all, Watch.

13 For such are false apostles, deceitful workers, transformed into apostles of Christ. 14 And no wonder: for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light. 15 It is therefore no great thing, if his ministers also be transformed into ministers of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their works.

Colossians 4:2

2 Persevere in prayer, and be watchful in it, with thanksgiving. 3 Praying at the same time for us also, that God would open to us a door of utterance, to declare the mystery of Christ, for which also I am in bonds: that I may make it manifest, as I ought. 4 Behave yourselves wisely towards them that are without,

1 Thessalonians 5:2-8

2 for ye yourselves know full well, that the day of the Lord cometh like a thief in the night. 3 And when they shall say, Peace and safety, then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape. 4 But ye, my brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should seize you as a thief: 5 ye are all children of the light, and of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness. 6 Therefore let us not sleep like others, but let us watch and be sober: 7 for they, that sleep, sleep in the night; and drunkards are drunk in the night: 8 but let us, who are of the day, be sober; putting on the breast-plate of faith and love, and for an helmet the hope of salvation.

12 nor by the blood of goats and calves, but by his own blood, having obtained eternal redemption for us. 13 For if the blood of bulls and goats, and the ashes of an heifer sprinkling the unclean, sanctifieth to the purification of the flesh; 14 how much more shall the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself spotless to God, purify your conscience from dead works, that ye may serve the living God? 15 And on this account He is the mediator of a new covenant, that undergoing death for the redemption of transgressions against the first covenant, they that are called might receive the promise of an eternal inheritance. 16 For where a testament is, there is a necessity of proving the death of the testator. 17 For a testament is valid after men are dead, but is of no force while the testator is living.

Hebrews 10:27-27

27 but a dreadful expectation of judgement, and a fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries. 28 If any one that violateth the law of Moses, dieth without mercy under two or three witnesses, 29 of how much greater punishment, think ye, shall he be counted worthy, who hath trampled under foot the Son of God, and accounted the blood of the covenant, by which he was sanctified, an unholy thing, and abused the Spirit of grace? 30 For we know who hath said, "To me belongeth vengeance, I will recompense, saith the Lord:" and again, "The Lord will judge his people." 31 It is a dreadful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

James 5:9

9 Repine not, my brethren, against each other, that ye be not condemned: behold, the judge is at the door. 10 Take for an example of enduring evil and of long-suffering the prophets, who spake in the name of the Lord. 11 Behold, we account those happy, that are patient. 1 Peter 4:3-7

3 For the time past of our life is sufficient for us to have wrought the will of the Gentiles, walking in lasciviousness, inordinate desires, excess of wine, revellings, drunkenness, and abominable idolatries: 4 in which they think it strange that ye run not with them into the same excess of riot, and therefore speak evil of you: 5 who shall give an account to Him, who is ready to judge the living and the dead. 6 For to this end was the gospel preached also to them that are dead, that they might be judged indeed according to men in the flesh, but might live according to God in the spirit. 7 But the end of all things draws nigh: be ye therefore sober, and watch unto prayer:

1 Peter 4:12-14

14 If ye be reproached for the name of Christ, happy are ye; for the Spirit of glory and of God resteth upon you: and though as to them He is blasphemed, yet as to you He is glorified.

2 Peter 3:7-14

7 But the heavens and the earth, that now are, by the same Word are kept in store, reserved unto fire on the day of judgement and destruction of ungodly men. 8 But, beloved; be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9 The Lord is not slow as to his promise (as some count it slowness) but is long-suffering towards us, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements being set on fire shall be dissolved, and the earth and the works therein shall be burnt up.

2 Peter 3:10

10 But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night, in which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements being set on fire shall be dissolved, and the earth and the works therein shall be burnt up. 11 Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in holy conversation and godliness,

2 Peter 3:11-14

2 Peter 3:12-14

12 expecting and hastening on the coming of the day of God, whereby the heavens being set on fire shall be dissolved, and the burning elements shall be melted. 13 But we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, in which righteousness dwelleth. 14 Wherefore, beloved, seeing ye expect these things, give diligence to be found of Him in peace, spotless and blameless;
