⁴⁴ And He said unto them, These are the words which I spake unto you, while I was yet with you, that all the things must be fulfilled, which are written in the law of Moses, and in the prophets, and Psalms, concerning me.

²¹ And from that time began Jesus to acquaint his disciples, that He must go to Jerusalem and suffer many things from the elders, and chief priests, and scribes; and be put to death, and be raised again on the third day.

²² And while they were in Galilee, Jesus said unto them, the Son of man is to be delivered into the hands of men: ²³ and they will put Him to death, and the third day He shall be raised again. And they were exceedingly grieved.

¹⁸ and the son of man shall be delivered to the chief priests and scribes, and they shall condemn Him to death, ¹⁹ and deliver Him up to the gentiles, to insult, and to scourge, and to crucify Him. But on the third day He shall rise again.

⁵⁴ but how then should the scriptures be fulfilled, which say that thus it must be?

⁵⁶ that the scriptures of the prophets might be fulfilled.

³¹ and began to tell them, that the Son of man must suffer much; and be rejected by the elders, and chief priests, and scribes; and be put to death: and after three days rise again. ³² And this He spake plainly and openly. Upon which Peter began to rebuke Him.

³¹ for He was instructing his disciples, and told them, the Son of man is going to be delivered into the hands of men, and they will put Him to death; and on the third day, after his being put to death, He will rise again.

³³ saying, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of man shall be delivered to the chief priests, and the scribes, and they will condemn Him to death, and deliver Him to the Gentiles; ³⁴ and they will insult Him, and scourge Him, and spit upon Him, and put Him to death: but on the third day He shall rise again.

⁴⁴ Receive these words into your ears; for the Son of man is going to be delivered into the hands of men.

³¹ And He took the twelve with Him and said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things written by the prophets concerning the Son of man shall be accomplished. ³² For He shall be delivered to the Gentiles, and insulted, and abused, and spit upon, and they will scourge Him, and put Him to death: ³³ and the third day He shall rise again. ³⁴ But they understood none of these things; and this matter was hid from them, so that they knew not the things which were spoken.

²² For these are days of vengeance, that all things which are written may be fulfilled.

³⁷ for I tell you, that this which is written must yet be accomplished in me, "And He was numbered with transgressors," for the things foretold concerning me are near at an end.

⁶ He is not here, He is risen: remember how He spake to you, when He was yet in Galilee, ⁷ saying, the Son of man must be delivered into the hands of wicked men, and be crucified; and the third day rise again.

²⁶ Was not the Messiah to suffer these things, and so to enter into his glory? ²⁷ And beginning from Moses, and all the prophets, He explained to them in all the scriptures the things that were spoken concerning Himself.

⁴⁶ and said unto them, thus it is written, and thus it was necessary that the Christ should suffer, and rise again from the dead on the third day;

¹⁴ And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, so must the Son of man be lifted up:

³⁹ Ye search the scriptures; for ye think that in them ye have eternal life:

⁴⁶ For if ye believed Moses, ye would believe me; for he wrote concerning me:

⁴ But I have told you these things, that when the time cometh, ye may remember that I told you of them. Though I did not tell you of them at the beginning, because I was with you. ⁵ But now I am going away to Him that sent me, and yet none of you asketh me, Whither art thou going? but because I have said these things to you,

¹⁶ A little while and ye shall not see me: and again a little while and ye shall see me, because I am going to the Father. ¹⁷ Some of his disciples therefore said one to another, What is the meaning of this that He saith to us, A little while and ye shall not see me, and again a little while and ye shall see me, and---because I am going to the Father?

¹¹ And as I am to be no longer in the world, but these are in the world, and I am coming to Thee, Holy Father, keep by thy name those whom Thou hast given me, that they may be one, as we are. ¹² While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name; I have preserved those whom Thou gavest me, and none of them is lost; except the son of perdition, that the scripture might be fulfilled. ¹³ But now I am coming to Thee, and I speak these things in the world, that they may have my joy fulfilled in them.

²⁴ they said therefore to one another, Let us not cut it, but let us cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, "They parted my garments among them, and upon my vesture did they cast lots." These things therefore the soldiers did. ²⁵ Now there stood near the cross of Jesus his mother, and his mother's sister, Mary the wife of Cleopas, and Mary Magdalene. ²⁶ Jesus therefore seeing his mother, and the disciple whom He loved standing by, saith to his mother, Woman, behold thy son: ²⁷ and then saith to the disciple, Behold thy mother. And from that hour the same disciple took her to his own home. ²⁸ After this Jesus knowing that all things were now finished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst. ²⁹ Now there was set a vessel there full of vinegar: so they filled a spunge with the vinegar, and putting it upon hyssop, held it up to his mouth. ³⁰ And when Jesus had received the vinegar, He said, It is finished. And reclining his head, He yielded up the ghost. ³¹ The Jews therefore, that the bodies might not remain upon the cross on the sabbath-day, because it was now the preparation, (for that sabbath-day was an high-day) desired Pilate that their legs might be broken, and that they might be taken away. ³² So the soldiers came, and brake the legs of the first, and of the other that was crucified with Him. But coming to Jesus, ³³ as they saw He was dead already, they did not break his legs: ³⁴ but one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and immediately there came out blood and water. ³⁵ And he that saw it testifieth it, and his testimony is true: and he knoweth that he saith true, that ye may believe. ³⁶ For these things were done, that the scripture might be fulfilled, Not a bone of Him shall be broken. ³⁷ And again another scripture saith, They shall look on Him whom they have pierced.

¹⁸ but thus hath God accomplished those things which He had foretold by the mouth of all his prophets, that Christ should suffer.

²² For Moses said unto the fathers, the Lord your God will raise up a prophet unto you, of your brethren, like me, Him shall ye hear in all things whatever He shall say unto you; ²³ and every soul, who will not hearken to that prophet, shall be destroyed from among the people: yea and all the prophets from Samuel, ²⁴ and those that followed, as many as have prophesied, have also foretold these days.

³⁷ ---This is that Moses who said unto the children of Israel, "A prophet shall the Lord your God raise up unto you, of your brethren, like unto me; Him shall ye hear."

²⁹ And when they had finished all things that were written concerning Him, they took Him down from the cross and laid Him in a tomb. ³⁰ But God raised Him from the dead: ³¹ and He was seen for many days by those that came up with Him from Galilee to Jerusalem, who are his witnesses to the people.

³³ that the promise made unto the fathers God hath fulfilled unto us their children, having raised up Jesus again: as it is also written in the second psalm, "Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee."

² And according to his custom Paul went in among them, and for three sabbath-days discoursed to them from the scriptures; ³ opening them and shewing, that the Messiah was to suffer and rise again from the dead: and that this is the Christ even, Jesus, whom, said he, I preach unto you.

³ For in the first place I delivered to you, that which I also received, to wit, that Christ died for our sins, according to the scriptures: ⁴ and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day, according to the scriptures.

⁵ Now Moses was indeed faithful in all his house as a servant, for a testimony of the things which were to be spoken:

¹ For this Melchisedec, king of Salem, priest of the most high God, who met Abraham returning from the slaughter of the kings,

⁸ The Holy Ghost shewing by this, that the way into the Holy of holies was not yet manifested, the first tabernacle being yet standing.

¹ For the law having but a faint shadow of good things to come, and not the full image of the things, can never, even by the great annual sacrifices which they offer statedly, make the comers thereunto perfect.

¹¹ searching what, or what manner of time the Spirit of Christ in them did declare in testifying beforehand the sufferings that were to come upon Christ, and the glories following them:

¹⁰ And I fell at his feet to worship him: and he said unto me, See thou do it not: I am thy fellow-servant, and a fellow-servant of thy brethren, that hold the testimony of Jesus. Worship God. For the Spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus.
