⁶ and saith unto Him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down; for it is written, He will give his angels charge concerning thee, and they shall bear thee up as in their hands, least at any time thou shouldst dash thy foot against a stone:

⁴ but He answered and said, It is written, "Man shall not live upon bread only, but on whatever proceedeth from the mouth of God."

⁹ And he brought Him to Jerusalem, and set him on a battlement of the temple, and said to Him, If thou art the Son of God, cast thyself down from hence; ¹⁰ for it is written, He shall give his angels charge concerning thee, ¹¹ to keep thee, and they shall bear thee up in their hands, least thou dash thy foot against a stone. ¹² And Jesus answered him, it is said, Thou shalt not tempt the Lord thy God.

¹⁴ And no wonder: for Satan himself is transformed into an angel of light.
