¹¹ Let a woman in quietness learn in all subjection,

¹⁶ Unto the woman He said, `Multiplying I multiply thy sorrow and thy conception, in sorrow dost thou bear children, and toward thy husband is thy desire, and he doth rule over thee.'

²⁰ and the sentence of the king that he maketh hath been heard in all his kingdom—for it is great—and all the wives give honour to their husbands, from great even unto small.'

³ and I wish you to know that of every man the head is the Christ, and the head of a woman is the husband, and the head of Christ is God.

³⁴ Your women in the assemblies let them be silent, for it hath not been permitted to them to speak, but to be subject, as also the law saith; ³⁵ and if they wish to learn anything, at home their own husbands let them question, for it is a shame to women to speak in an assembly.

²² The wives! to your own husbands subject yourselves, as to the Lord, ²³ because the husband is head of the wife, as also the Christ is head of the assembly, and he is saviour of the body, ²⁴ but even as the assembly is subject to Christ, so also are the wives to their own husbands in everything.

¹⁸ The wives! be subject to your own husbands, as is fit in the Lord;

⁵ sober, pure, keepers of their own houses, good, subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be evil spoken of.

¹ In like manner, the wives, be ye subject to your own husbands, that even if certain are disobedient to the word, through the conversation of the wives, without the word, they may be won,

⁵ for thus once also the holy women who did hope on God, were adorning themselves, being subject to their own husbands, ⁶ as Sarah was obedient to Abraham, calling him `sir,' of whom ye did become daughters, doing good, and not fearing any terror.
