²² and Jehovah hearkeneth to the voice of Elijah, and the soul of the lad turneth back into his midst, and he liveth. ²³ And Elijah taketh the lad, and bringeth him down from the upper chamber of the house, and giveth him to his mother, and Elijah saith, `See, thy son liveth!' <sup>24</sup> And the woman saith unto Elijah, `Now, this I have known, that a man of God thou art, and the word of Jehovah in thy mouth is truth.'

²⁷ And she cometh in unto the man of God, unto the hill, and layeth hold on his feet, and Gehazi cometh nigh to thrust her away, and the man of God saith, `Let her alone, for her soul is bitter to her, and Jehovah hath hidden it from me, and hath not declared it to me.' <sup>28</sup> And she saith, `Did I ask a son from my lord? did I not say, Do not deceive me?' ²⁹ And he saith to Gehazi, `Gird up thy loins, and take my staff in thy hand, and go; when thou dost meet a man, thou dost not salute him; and when a man doth salute thee, thou dost not answer him; and thou hast laid my staff on the face of the youth.' <sup>30</sup> And the mother of the youth saith, `Jehovah liveth, and thy soul liveth—if I leave thee;' and he riseth and goeth after her. ³¹ And Gehazi hath passed on before them, and layeth the staff on the face of the youth, and there is no voice, and there is no attention, and he turneth back to meet him, and declareth to him, saying, `The youth hath not awaked.' <sup>32</sup> And Elisha cometh in to the house, and lo, the youth is dead, laid on his bed, <sup>33</sup> and he goeth in and shutteth the door upon them both, and prayeth unto Jehovah. <sup>34</sup> And he goeth up, and lieth down on the lad, and putteth his mouth on his mouth, and his eyes on his eyes, and his hands on his hands, and stretcheth himself upon him, and the flesh of the lad becometh warm; <sup>35</sup> and he turneth back and walketh in the house, once hither and once thither, and goeth up and stretcheth himself upon him, and the youth sneezeth till seven times, and the youth openeth his eyes. <sup>36</sup> And he calleth unto Gehazi, and saith, `Call unto this Shunammite;' and he calleth her, and she cometh in unto him, and he saith, `Lift up thy son.' ³⁷ And she goeth in, and falleth at his feet, and boweth herself to the earth, and lifteth up her son, and goeth out.

³⁰ for in the rising again they do not marry, nor are they given in marriage, but are as messengers of God in heaven.

²⁵ for when they may rise out of the dead, they neither marry nor are they given in marriage, but are as messengers who are in the heavens.

¹² and as he came nigh to the gate of the city, then, lo, one dead was being carried forth, an only son of his mother, and she a widow, and a great multitude of the city was with her. ¹³ And the Lord having seen her, was moved with compassion towards her, and said to her, `Be not weeping;' <sup>14</sup> and having come near, he touched the bier, and those bearing it stood still, and he said, `Young man, to thee I say, Arise;' ¹⁵ and the dead sat up, and began to speak, and he gave him to his mother; ¹⁶ and fear took hold of all, and they were glorifying God, saying—`A great prophet hath risen among us,' and—`God did look upon His people.'

¹⁴ and happy thou shalt be, because they have not to recompense thee, for it shall be recompensed to thee in the rising again of the righteous.'

³⁶ for neither are they able to die any more—for they are like messengers—and they are sons of God, being sons of the rising again.

²⁹ and they shall come forth; those who did the good things to a rising again of life, and those who practised the evil things to a rising again of judgment.

⁴⁰ Jesus saith to her, `Said I not to thee, that if thou mayest believe, thou shalt see the glory of God?' <sup>41</sup> They took away, therefore, the stone where the dead was laid, and Jesus lifted his eyes upwards, and said, `Father, I thank Thee, that Thou didst hear me; ⁴² and I knew that Thou always dost hear me, but, because of the multitude that is standing by, I said it, that they may believe that Thou didst send me.' ⁴³ And these things saying, with a loud voice he cried out, `Lazarus, come forth;' <sup>44</sup> and he who died came forth, being bound feet and hands with grave-clothes, and his visage with a napkin was bound about; Jesus saith to them, `Loose him, and suffer to go.'
⁴⁵ Many, therefore, of the Jews who came unto Mary, and beheld what Jesus did, believed in him;

¹⁹ and Peter and John answering unto them said, `Whether it is righteous before God to hearken to you rather than to God, judge ye;

⁴¹ and having given her his hand, he lifted her up, and having called the saints and the widows, he presented her alive,

²⁴ the chief captain commanded him to be brought into the castle, saying, `By scourges let him be examined;' that he might know for what cause they were crying so against him. <sup>25</sup> And as he was stretching him with the thongs, Paul said unto the centurion who was standing by, `A man, a Roman, uncondemned—is it lawful to you to scourge;'

²⁹ Immediately, therefore, they departed from him who are about to examine him, and the chief captain also was afraid, having learned that he is a Roman, and because he had bound him,

⁶ and Paul having known that the one part are Sadducees, and the other Pharisees, cried out in the sanhedrim, `Men, brethren, I am a Pharisee—son of a Pharisee—concerning hope and rising again of dead men I am judged.'

¹⁵ having hope toward God, which they themselves also wait for, that there is about to be a rising again of the dead, both of righteous and unrighteous;

⁵⁴ and when this corruptible may have put on incorruption, and this mortal may have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the word that hath been written, `The Death was swallowed up—to victory;

¹¹ if anyhow I may attain to the rising again of the dead.
