Ecclesiastes 4

  1 H7725 [H8804] So I returned, H7200 [H8799] and saw H6217 all the oppressions H6213 [H8737] that are done H8121 under the sun: H1832 and behold the tears H6231 [H8803] of such as were oppressed, H5162 [H8764] and they had no comforter; H3027 and on the side H6231 [H8802] of their oppressors H3581 there was power; H5162 [H8764] but they had no comforter.

  2 H7623 [H8764] Therefore I loudly addressed H4191 [H8801] the dead H3528 who are already H4191 [H8804] dead H2416 more than the living H5728 who are yet H2416 alive.

  3 H2896 Yea, better H8147 is he than both H5728 they, who hath not yet H7200 [H8804] been, who hath not seen H7451 the evil H4639 work H6213 [H8738] that is done H8121 under the sun.

  4 H7200 [H8804] Again, I saw H5999 all labour, H3788 and every right H4639 work, H376 that for this a man H7068 is envied H7453 by his neighbour. H1892 This is also vanity H7469 and vexation H7307 of spirit.

  5 H3684 The fool H2263 0 foldeth H3027 his hands H2263 [H8802] together, H398 [H8802] and eateth H1320 his own flesh.

  6 H2896 Better H3709 is an handful H5183 with quietness, H2651 than both the hands H4393 full H5999 with toil H7469 and vexation H7307 of spirit.

  7 H7725 [H8804] Then I returned, H7200 [H8799] and I saw H1892 vanity H8121 under the sun.

  8 H3426 There is H259 one alone, H9002 and H369 there is not H8145 a second; H1571 yea, H9033 he H9005 hath H369 no H1121 child H9002 or H251 brother: H9002 yet is there H369 no H7093 end H9005 of H3605 all H9023 his H5999 labour; H1571 also H9023 his H5869 eye H7646 0 is H3808 not H7646 [H8799] satisfied H6239 with riches; H9002 and saith he, H9005 For H4310 whom H589 do I H6001 labour, H6001 and H2637 [H8764] bereave H9020 my H5315 breath H9006 of H2896 good? H2088 This is H1571 also H1892 vanity, H9002 and, H1931 it is H7451 a grievous H6045 labour.

  9 H8147 Two H2896 are better H259 than one; H3426 because they have H2896 a good H7939 reward H5999 for their labour.

  10 H5307 [H8799] For if they fall, H259 the one H6965 [H8686] will lift up H2270 his companion: H337 but woe H259 to him that is alone H5307 [H8799] when he falleth; H8145 for he hath not another H6965 [H8687] to help him to rise.

  11 H1571 Again, H8147 if two H7901 [H8799] lie together, H2552 [H8804] then they have heat: H259 but how can one H3179 [H8799] be warm alone?

  12 H259 And if one H8630 [H8799] prevaileth H8147 against him, two H5975 [H8799] shall withstand H8027 [H8794] him; and a threefold H2339 cord H4120 is not quickly H5423 [H8735] broken.

  13 H2896 Better H4542 is a poor H2450 and a wise H3206 child H2205 than an old H3684 and foolish H4428 king, H3045 [H8804] who will H2094 [H8736] no longer be admonished.

  14 H631 H1004 [H8803] For out of prison H3318 [H8804] he cometh H4427 [H8800] to reign; H3205 [H8738] though also he that is born H4438 in his kingdom H7326 [H8802] becometh poor.

  15 H7200 [H8804] I saw H2416 all the living H1980 [H8764] who walk H8121 under the sun, H8145 with the second H3206 child H5975 [H8799] that shall stand up in his stead.

  16 H7093 There is no end H5971 of all the people, H6440 even of all that have been at the face of H314 them: they also that come after H8055 [H8799] shall not rejoice H1892 in him. Surely this also is vanity H7475 and vexation H7307 of spirit.
