Jeremiah 41:1-15 Now it came to pass in the seventh month, that Ishmael the son of Nethaniah the son of Elishama, of the seed royal, and the princes of the king, even ten men with him, came to Gedaliah the son of Ahikam to Mizpah; and there they ate bread together in Mizpah.

1 H7637 Now it came to pass in the seventh H2320 month, H3458 that Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H1121 the son H476 of Elishama, H2233 of the seed H4410 royal, H7227 and the princes H4428 of the king, H6235 even ten H582 men H935 [H8804] with him, came H1436 to Gedaliah H1121 the son H296 of Ahikam H4709 to Mizpah; H398 [H8799] and there they ate H3899 bread H3162 together H4708 in Mizpah.

2 H6965 [H8799] Then arose H3458 Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah, H6235 and the ten H582 men H5221 [H8686] that were with him, and smote H1436 Gedaliah H1121 the son H296 of Ahikam H1121 the son H8227 of Shaphan H2719 with the sword, H4191 [H8686] and slew H4428 him, whom the king H894 of Babylon H6485 [H8689] had made governor H776 over the land.

3 H3458 Ishmael H5221 [H8689] also slew H3064 all the Judeans H1436 that were with him, even with Gedaliah, H4709 at Mizpah, H3778 and the Chaldeans H4672 [H8738] that were found H582 there, and the men H4421 of war.

4 H8145 And it came to pass the second H3117 day H4191 [H8687] after he had slain H1436 Gedaliah, H376 and no man H3045 [H8804] knew it,

5 H935 [H8799] That there came H582 men H7927 from Shechem, H7887 from Shiloh, H8111 and from Samaria, H8084 even eighty H376 men, H2206 having their beards H1548 [H8794] shaven, H899 and their clothes H7167 [H8803] torn, H1413 [H8706] and having cut H4503 themselves, with offerings H3828 and incense H3027 in their hand, H935 [H8687] to bring H1004 them to the house H3068 of the LORD.

6 H3458 And Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H3318 [H8799] went forth H4709 from Mizpah H7125 [H8800] to meet H1058 [H8802] them, weeping H1980 [H8800] all along H1980 [H8802] as he went: H6298 [H8800] and it came to pass, as he met H559 [H8799] them, he said H935 [H8798] to them, Come H1436 to Gedaliah H1121 the son H296 of Ahikam.

7 H935 [H8800] And it was so, when they came H8432 into the midst H5892 of the city, H3458 that Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H7819 [H8799] slew H8432 them, and cast them into the midst H953 of the hole, H582 he, and the men that were with him.

8 H6235 But ten H582 men H4672 [H8738] were found H559 [H8799] among them that said H3458 to Ishmael, H4191 [H8686] Slay H3426 us not: for we have H4301 treasures H7704 in the field, H2406 of wheat, H8184 and of barley, H8081 and of oil, H1706 and of honey. H2308 [H8799] So he left them alone, H4191 [H8689] and slew H8432 them not among H251 their brethren.

9 H953 Now the hole H3458 into which Ishmael H7993 [H8689] had cast H6297 all the carcases H582 of the men, H5221 [H8689] whom he had slain H3027 because H1436 of Gedaliah, H609 was that which Asa H4428 the king H6213 [H8804] had made H6440 for fear H1201 of Baasha H4428 king H3478 of Israel: H3458 and Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H4390 [H8765] filled H2491 it with them that were slain.

10 H3458 Then Ishmael H7617 [H8799] carried away captive H7611 all the remnant H5971 of the people H4709 that were in Mizpah, H4428 even the king's H1323 daughters, H5971 and all the people H7604 [H8737] that remained H4709 in Mizpah, H5018 whom Nebuzaradan H7227 the captain H2876 of the guard H6485 [H8689] had committed H1436 to Gedaliah H1121 the son H296 of Ahikam: H3458 and Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H7617 [H8799] carried them away captive, H3212 [H8799] and departed H5674 [H8800] to go over H1121 H5983 to the Ammonites.

11 H3110 But when Johanan H1121 the son H7143 of Kareah, H8269 and all the captains H2428 of the forces H8085 [H8799] that were with him, heard H7451 of all the evil H3458 that Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H6213 [H8804] had done,

12 H3947 [H8799] Then they took H582 all the men, H3212 [H8799] and went H3898 [H8736] to fight H3458 with Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah, H4672 [H8799] and found H7227 him by the great H4325 waters H1391 that are in Gibeon.

13 H5971 Now it came to pass, that when all the people H3458 who were with Ishmael H7200 [H8800] saw H3110 Johanan H1121 the son H7143 of Kareah, H8269 and all the captains H2428 of the forces H8055 [H8799] that were with him, then they were glad.

14 H5971 So all the people H3458 that Ishmael H7617 [H8804] had carried away captive H4709 from Mizpah H5437 [H8799] turned about H7725 [H8799] and came back, H3212 [H8799] and went H3110 to Johanan H1121 the son H7143 of Kareah.

15 H3458 But Ishmael H1121 the son H5418 of Nethaniah H4422 [H8738] escaped H6440 from H3110 Johanan H8083 with eight H582 men, H3212 [H8799] and went H1121 H5983 to the Ammonites.
