³⁰ They said to him therefore, What sign do thou, that we may see and believe in thee? What do thou work? ³¹ Our fathers ate the manna in the wilderness, just as it is written, He gave them bread out of heaven to eat. ³² Jesus therefore said to them, Truly, truly, I say to you, Moses did not give you the bread out of heaven, but my Father gives you the true bread out of heaven. ³³ For the bread of God is he who comes down out of heaven, and gives life to the world. ³⁴ They said to him therefore, Lord, always give us this bread. ³⁵ Jesus said to them, I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will, no, not hunger, and he who believes in me will, no, not ever thirst. ³⁶ But also I said to you, that ye have seen me, and yet do not believe. ³⁷ All that the Father gives me will come to me, and he who comes to me I will, no, not cast out. ³⁸ Because I have come down from heaven, not so that I might do my will, but the will of him who sent me. ³⁹ And this is the will of the Father who sent me, that of all that he has given me I would not lose from it, but I will raise it up at the last day. ⁴⁰ And this is the will of him who sent me, that every man who sees the Son, and believes in him, may have eternal life, and I will raise him up at the last day.

³⁴ Jesus says to them, My food is that I do the will of him who sent me, and may finish his work.

¹ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. ² This man was in the beginning with God. ³ All things came to be through him, and apart from him not even one thing came to be that has come to be. ⁴ In him was life, and the life was the light of men.

¹⁶ For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, so that every man who believes in him would not perish, but have eternal life.
