¹ There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit. ² For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus has set me free from the law of sin and of death. ³ For what was impossible for the law to do in that it was weak through the flesh, God did by sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and concerning sin, He condemned sin in the flesh, ⁴ so that the righteous requirement of the law might be fulfilled in us who do not walk according to the flesh but according to the Spirit. ⁵ For those who are fleshly set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. ⁶ For the mind of the flesh is death, but the mind of the Spirit is life and peace. ⁷ Therefore the mind of the flesh is enmity against God; for it does not submit to the law of God, nor indeed can it. ⁸ And those that are in the flesh cannot please God. ⁹ But you are not in the flesh but in the Spirit, if indeed the Spirit of God dwells in you. But if anyone does not have the Spirit of Christ, he is not His. ¹⁰ But if Christ is in you, the body indeed is dead because of sin, but the Spirit is life because of righteousness. ¹¹ But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead dwells in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit indwelling in you. ¹² Therefore, brothers, we are debtors--not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. ¹³ For if you live according to the flesh you shall die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the practices of the body, you will live. ¹⁴ For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. ¹⁵ For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again unto fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, "Abba, Father." ¹⁶ The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God. ¹⁷ And if children, then heirs--heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer together, so that we may also be glorified together. ¹⁸ For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the coming glory to be revealed in us. ¹⁹ For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly awaits the unveiling of the sons of God. ²⁰ For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but on account of Him who subjected it in hope; ²¹ because even the creation itself shall be freed from the slavery of corruption into the freedom of the glory of the children of God. ²² For we know that all the creation groans together and labors in birth together until now. ²³ And not only that, but also we ourselves having the firstfruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, eagerly waiting adoption, the redemption of our body. ²⁴ For by this hope we were saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for why does one still hope for what he sees? ²⁵ But if we hope for what we do not see, we eagerly await it with endurance. ²⁶ Likewise the Spirit also helps in our weaknesses. For we do not know what we should pray for as we ought, but the Spirit Himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings. ²⁷ But He that searches the hearts knows what the mind of the Spirit is, because He intercedes on behalf of the saints according to the will of God. ²⁸ And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are called according to His purpose. ²⁹ Because whom He foreknew, He also predestined to be conformed to the image of His Son, that He might be the firstborn among many brothers. ³⁰ Moreover whom He predestined, these He also called; and whom He called, these He also justified; and whom He justified, these He also glorified. ³¹ What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? ³² He who did not spare His own Son, but gave Him up on behalf of us all, how shall He not with Him also freely give us all things? ³³ Who shall bring an accusation against God's elect? It is God who justifies. ³⁴ Who is he that condemns? Christ is the One having died, but rather also having been raised, who is even at the right hand of God, who also intercedes on our behalf. ³⁵ Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? ³⁶ Just as it is written: "For Your sake we are put to death the whole day long; we are accounted as sheep for slaughter." ³⁷ But in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us. ³⁸ For I am persuaded that neither death nor life, nor angels nor principalities nor powers, nor things present nor things to come, ³⁹ nor height nor depth, nor any other created thing, shall be able to separate us from the love of God which is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

¹⁶ Be of the same mind toward one another. Not minding the high things, but associating with the humble. Do not become wise in your own opinion.

³ For there will be a time when they will not put up with sound doctrine, but according to their own lusts, they will heap up for themselves teachers, tickling their ears,

¹ Keep your foot, whenever you go to the house of God; and when you are near to hear, let your sacrifice be better than the gift of fools; for they do not know they are doing evil. ² Be not hasty with your mouth, and let not your heart be swift to utter anything before God; for God is in heaven above, and you are on earth; therefore let your words be few. ³ For through the multitude of trial a dream comes; and a fool's voice is with a multitude of words. ⁴ Whenever you shall vow a vow to God, defer not to pay it; for He has no pleasure in fools. Pay, therefore, whatsoever you have vowed. ⁵ It is better that you should not vow, than that you should vow and not pay. ⁶ Do not allow your mouth to lead your flesh to sin; and say not in the presence of God, It was an error; lest God be angry at your voice, and destroy the works of your hands. ⁷ For in a multitude of dreams and in many words there is vanity; rather fear God. ⁸ If you should see the oppression of the poor, and the wresting of judgment and of justice in the land, wonder not at the matter; for there is a high one to watch over him that is high, and high ones over them. ⁹ Also the abundance of the earth is for everyone. The king is dependent on the tilled field. ¹⁰ He that loves silver shall not be satisfied with silver; nor he who has loved gain, in the abundance thereof. This also is vanity. ¹¹ In the multitude of good they are increased that eat it, and what virtue has the owner, but the right of beholding it with his eyes? ¹² The sleep of a servant is sweet, whether he eats little or much; but the full stomach of the rich man does not allow him to sleep. ¹³ There is an infirmity which I have seen under the sun, namely, wealth kept for its owner to his own hurt. ¹⁴ And that wealth shall perish in an evil trouble, and the man begets a son, and there is nothing in his hand. ¹⁵ As he came forth naked from his mother's womb, he shall return back as he came, and he shall receive nothing for his labor, that it should go with him in his hand. ¹⁶ And this is also an evil infirmity; for as he came, so also shall he return. And what is his gain, for which he labors in vain? ¹⁷ Yea, all his days are in darkness, and in mourning, and much sorrow, and infirmity, and wrath. ¹⁸ Behold, I have seen good, that it is a fine thing for a man to eat and to drink, and to see good in all his labor in which he may labor under the sun; all the number of the days of his life which God has given to him; for it is his portion. ¹⁹ Yea, and as for every man to whom God has given wealth and possessions, and has given to him power to eat thereof, and to receive his portion, and to rejoice in his labor; this is the gift of God. ²⁰ For he shall not much remember the days of his life; for God troubles him in the joy of his heart.

¹ Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples, ² saying: "The scribes and the Pharisees sit on Moses' seat. ³ Therefore whatever they may say to you to observe, observe and do, but do not do according to their works; for they say, and do not do. ⁴ For they bind heavy burdens, hard to bear, and lay them on men's shoulders; but they do not desire to move them with their finger. ⁵ But all their works they do in order to be seen by men. They make their phylacteries broad and they enlarge the borders of their garments. ⁶ They love the first couch in the suppers, and the best seats in the synagogues, ⁷ and greetings in the marketplaces, and to be called by men, 'Rabbi, Rabbi.' ⁸ "But you, do not be called 'Rabbi'; for One is your Teacher, the Christ, and you are all brothers. ⁹ Do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. ¹⁰ Neither be called teachers; for One is your Teacher, the Christ. ¹¹ But the greatest of you shall be your servant. ¹² And whoever shall exalt himself will be humbled, and whoever shall humble himself will be exalted. ¹³ But woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you devour widows' houses, and for a pretense make long prayers. Therefore you will receive greater condemnation. ¹⁴ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you shut up the kingdom of heaven before men; for you do not enter, nor do you allow those who are entering to go in. ¹⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you travel around land and sea to make one proselyte, and whenever he becomes one, you make him twice as much a son of hell as you. ¹⁶ Woe to you, blind guides, who say, 'Whoever swears by the temple, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gold of the temple, is obligated.' ¹⁷ "Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gold or the temple that sanctifies the gold? ¹⁸ And, 'Whoever swears by the altar, it is nothing; but whoever swears by the gift that is on it, is obligated.' ¹⁹ "Fools and blind! For which is greater, the gift or the altar that sanctifies the gift? ²⁰ Therefore he that swears by the altar, swears by it and by all the things on it. ²¹ He that swears by the temple, swears by it and by Him who dwelt in it. ²² And he that swears by heaven, swears by the throne of God and by Him who sits on it. ²³ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you pay tithes of mint and dill and cummin, and have neglected the more important things of the law: justice and mercy and faith. These things you should have done, and not have neglected the others. ²⁴ Blind guides, you who strain out a gnat, but swallow a camel! ²⁵ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you clean the outside of the cup and dish, but inside they are full of greed and unrighteousness. ²⁶ Blind Pharisee, first clean the inside of the cup and dish, so that the outside of them may be clean also. ²⁷ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! For you are like whitewashed tombs, which indeed appear beautiful outwardly, but inside are full of dead men's bones and of all uncleanness. ²⁸ Thus also you outwardly appear righteous to men, but inside you are full of hypocrisy and lawlessness. ²⁹ Woe to you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! Because you build the tombs of the prophets and adorn the monuments of the righteous, ³⁰ and say, 'If we had lived in the days of our fathers, we would not have been partakers with them in the blood of the prophets.' ³¹ "So that you testify against yourselves that you are sons of those who killed the prophets. ³² And you, fill up then, the measure of your fathers' guilt. ³³ Serpents! Brood of vipers! How shall you escape from the condemnation of hell? ³⁴ Therefore, behold, I send you prophets, wise men, and scribes: some of them you will kill and you will crucify, and some of them you will flog in your synagogues and you will persecute from city to city, ³⁵ so that on you may come all the righteous blood being shed on the earth, from the blood of righteous Abel to the blood of Zechariah, son of Berechiah, whom you murdered between the temple and the altar. ³⁶ Assuredly I say to you, all these things shall come upon this generation. ³⁷ "O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, you who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often would I have gathered your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! ³⁸ Behold, your house is left to you desolate. ³⁹ For I say to you, you shall by no means see Me from now until you say, 'Blessed is He who comes in the name of the LORD!' "

¹ My brothers, do not hold the faith of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Lord of glory, with partiality. ² For if a man enters into your assembly with a gold ring, in fine clothes, and there should also come in a poor man in dirty clothes, ³ and you have respect for him that wears the fine clothes and you say to him, "You sit here in a good seat," and say to the poor man, "You stand there," or, "Sit here under my footstool," ⁴ and so did you not differentiate among yourselves, and become judges with evil thoughts? ⁵ Listen, my beloved brothers. Did God not choose the poor of the world to be rich in faith, and heirs of the kingdom which He promised to those that love Him? ⁶ But you have dishonored the poor. Do not the rich oppress you and drag you into court? ⁷ Do they not blaspheme the noble name by which you are called? ⁸ If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, "You shall love your neighbor as yourself," you do well; ⁹ but if you show partiality, you commit sin, and are convicted by the law as transgressors. ¹⁰ For whoever shall keep the whole law, and yet stumble in one point, he has become guilty of all. ¹¹ For He who said, "Do not commit adultery," also said, "You shall not murder." Now if you do not commit adultery, but yet you murder, then you have become a transgressor of the law. ¹² So speak and so do as those who will be judged by the law of liberty. ¹³ For judgment is without mercy to the one who does not show mercy. Mercy triumphs over judgment.

¹⁰ Now I beseech you, brothers, by the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you all speak the same thing, and that there be no divisions among you, but you be made complete in the same mind and in the same opinion.
