Bible verses about "vegetables" | CAB

Ezekiel 4:9

9 Take also wheat, barley, beans, lentils, millet, and grain; and you shall cast them into one earthen vessel, and shall make them into loaves for yourself; and you shall eat them a hundred and ninety days, according to the number of the days which you sleep on your side.

Daniel 1:1-21

1 In the third year of the reign of Jehoiakim king of Judah, Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon came to Jerusalem, and besieged it. 2 And the Lord gave into his hand Jehoiakim king of Judah, and part of the vessels of the house of God: and he brought them into the land of Shinar to the house of his god; and he brought the vessels into the treasure house of his god. 3 And the king told Ashpenaz his chief eunuch, to bring in some of the captive children of Israel, and of the seed of the kingdom, and of the princes; 4 young men in whom was no blemish, and beautiful in appearance, and skilled in all wisdom, and possessing knowledge, and acquainted with prudence, and who had ability to stand in the house before the king, and the king gave commandment to teach them the knowledge and language of the Chaldeans. 5 And the king appointed them a daily portion from the king's table, and from the wine which he drank; and gave orders to nourish them three years, and that afterwards they should stand before the king. 6 Now these were among them of the children of Judah: Daniel, Hananiah, Azariah, and Mishael. 7 And the chief of the eunuchs gave them names: to Daniel, Belteshazzar; and to Hananiah, Shadrach; and to Mishael, Meshach; and to Azariah, Abed-Nego. 8 And Daniel purposed in his heart, that he would not defile himself with the king's table, nor with the wine of his drink: and he intreated the chief of the eunuchs that he might not defile himself. 9 Now God had brought Daniel into favor and compassion with the chief of the eunuchs. 10 And the chief of the eunuchs said to Daniel, I fear my lord the king, who has appointed your meat and your drink, lest he see your countenances gloomy, in comparison with the young men your equals; also shall you endanger my head to the king. 11 And Daniel said to Melzar, whom the chief of the eunuchs had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, 12 Please test your servants ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink. 13 And let our countenances be seen by you, and the countenances of the children that eat at the king's table; and deal with your servants according as you shall see. 14 And he hearkened to them, and tested them ten days. 15 And at the end of the ten days their countenances appeared fairer and stouter in flesh, than the children that ate at the king's table. 16 So Melzar took away their supper and the wine of their drink, and gave them vegetables. 17 And as for these four children, God gave them understanding and prudence in all learning and wisdom. And Daniel had understanding in all visions and dreams. 18 And at the end of the days, after which the king had given orders to bring them in, then the chief of the eunuchs brought them in before Nebuchadnezzar. 19 And the king spoke with them; and there were not found out of them all any like Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah: and they stood before the king. 20 And in every matter of wisdom and knowledge wherein the king questioned them, he found them ten times wiser than all the enchanters and sorcerers that were in all his kingdom. 21 And Daniel continued till the first year of King Cyrus.

Romans 14:1-23

1 Receive one that is weak in the faith, not for disputes over opinions. 2 One indeed believes that he may eat all things, but another, being weak, eats only vegetables. 3 Let not him who eats despise him who does not eat, and let not him who does not eat judge him who eats; for God has received him. 4 Who are you to judge another's servant? To his own master he stands or he falls. And he shall be made to stand, for God is able to make him stand. 5 One indeed judges one day above another; but another judges every day the same. Let each be fully assured in his own mind. 6 He that regards the day, regards it to the Lord; and he that does not regard the day, to the Lord he does not regard it. And he that eats, eats to the Lord, for he gives thanks to God; and he that does not eat, to the Lord he does not eat, and he gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and no one dies to himself. 8 For whether we live, we live to the Lord; and whether we die, we die to the Lord. Therefore, whether we live, or whether we die, we are the Lord's. 9 For to this end Christ died and rose and lived again, so that He might be Lord of both the dead and the living. 10 But why do you judge your brother? Or why do you despise your brother? For we shall all stand before the judgment seat of Christ. 11 For it is written: "As I live, says the LORD, every knee shall bow to Me, and every tongue shall confess to God." 12 So then each of us shall give account concerning himself to God. 13 Therefore let us no longer judge one another, but judge this rather, not to put a stumbling block or an offense before our brother. 14 I know and am convinced in the Lord Jesus that nothing is unclean of itself; except to him considering anything to be unclean, to him it is unclean. 15 But if your brother is grieved on account of your food, you are no longer walking according to love. Do not destroy with your food the one on behalf of whom Christ died. 16 Therefore do not let your good be slandered. 17 For the kingdom of God is not eating and drinking, but righteousness and peace and joy in the Holy Spirit. 18 For he that serves Christ in these things is well pleasing to God and approved by men. 19 Therefore let us pursue the things which make for peace and the things by which one may edify another. 20 Do not destroy the work of God for the sake of food. All things indeed are clean, but are evil for the man eating with offense. 21 It is good neither to eat meat nor drink wine nor to do anything by which your brother stumbles or is offended or becomes weak. 22 Do you have faith? By yourself, have it before God. Blessed is he that does not condemn himself in what he approves. 23 But he who doubts, if he eats, has been condemned, because it is not of faith; and everything which is not of faith is sin.

Genesis 9:3

3 And every reptile which is living shall be to you for food, I have given all things to you as the green herbs.

Daniel 1:12

12 Please test your servants ten days, and let them give us vegetables to eat, and water to drink.

Genesis 1:29

29 And God said, Behold, I have given to you every seed-bearing herb sowing seed which is upon all the earth, and every tree which has in itself the fruit of seed that is sown, to you it shall be for food.
